We were passing this small town and decided to stop by it was really nice museum, they have some cool western objects. The museum staff was so kind and nice, great to had a chat with them. If you are passing or close enough you should visit this museum.
What a neat museum! It is a “must stop” when going through or staying in Rawlins. There are lots of cool exhibits, artifacts, and interesting stories. Taking a picture next to the Sinclair dinosaur outside makes for a fun family picture! The staff was so nice and helpful and they are very knowledgeable about the history of Rawlins. Such a cool stop to make! We throughly enjoyed it! And it’s free!
Small town county museum with charm and interesting memorabilia. Its free to enter and is a self guided tour. We felt it special that there were 3 male deer just hanging out in the shade in the front of the building.
Nice spot of history. No bathrooms available due to covid.
A small, but well organized and stocked museum.
Edison to big nose, ypu got to check it out!
This museum is packed with history! Very clean and well organized along with some amazing artifacts. The stories and history that shaped Carbon County and Rawlins is displayed in a inviting manner. Make sure you go to the garage and see the really long fire truck. Dont forget about Big Nose George!
Great history. Good exhibits. Staff is excellent. If you stop in Rawlins off I 80 you have to make this museum one of your stops. Big Nose Joe Parrots shoes are something youll never see anywhere else. It will blow your mind.
You must stop. It is free. So much history and many facets of life in Rawlins. Also go downtown to Depot Park. Nice picnic area, playground for the kids and watch the trains.
This free museum is interesting to visit. Its fun to look at some of the local history.
Unexpected little museum in a residential neighborhood, must see. Would have never heard about or found this tucked away place if we hadnt talked with an former employee.
Exactly what a museum should be, great written info, easy readability with lovely displays, from the outside the building looks deceivingly small but once you get to see all it holds you are amazed!
Big nose George and tons of history well laid out
Nice local museum with a friendly staff. Well worth seeing.
This is a great little FREE museum. There are lots of interesting exhibits and tons of fun hands on stuff for the kids to do! This is definitely a must stop place for those visiting the area. Everything from mining history to the native Americans in the area to a really cool old fire engine. We were totally impressed.
Interesting little museum, worth the stop!
This museum is free and accepts donations. Its larger than it looks on the outside. There are many facts about medical history, native Americans and living in earlier days. If in the area be sure to check it out!
Had a great time lots to look at and staff was very friendly will go back again
Such a awesome place. And to see and learn the history was awesome
Such a cool little place! The staff were almost too friendly for their own good, it was hard to make myself leave. If I hadnt been on a schedule I would have browsed happily for hours through their little patch of history.
This was a fantastic Museum. The staff were so informative and it was obvious they loved their work.Very glad we visited
Excellent service, great displays, kind and friendly and very helpful service, a good display of the information
A small museum, but interesting items on display.
Great little museum. My pastors son has a rock exhibit there. Great place to learn about Carbon County. They even have outdoor exhibits and a place to have a picnic lunch outside.
Nice local history museum.
Such a beautiful little museum with lots of special displays!
Nice museum friendly staff
Helpful people and wonderful displays
Some really cool exhibits, and it is free!!!!
Such a cute little museum! I looove it! Its so cuuuute! But the history is nothing to be taken lightly. I was surprised! The staff is very nice and the lady...Lauren? I think that was her name. She was very nice and was always making sure if we had questions or not. I enjoyed looking at the old sheep wagon. They even have one outside that you can go inside of! Some of these sheep wagons have better storage than RVs now! Great place!
Very interesting, far more than expected. Great stop, try to fit in in to your vacation plan.
Great place for kids
The young lady did such a fine job of sharing the museum to me yesterday, March 26th - yesterday.I read a bit about Big Nose this morning. She did so well on him and other displays.Earless Big Nose? That was not pointed out.So many rumors about him. Infamous fellow, certainly.I hope the community does not have some kind of Big Nose Days to commemorate the thief.DAN Peterson of MN.
Interesting place with a lot of local history and knowledgeable staff
The really only cool thing to see is the shoes made from the skin of the notorious Big Nose George.
