Raton New Mexico is a beautiful friendly small town. The area with the mountains are breathtaking.

Got stuck in Raton for a couple hours when a truck accident blocked the pass. We decided to visit the museum with our family of 7, and were glad we did! The guided tour by Roger Sanchez was so interesting and informative. He really knows the history of the town and the area. The collection is vast and unique, and Mr. Sanchez will weave historical tales as he lets you interact with and explore items from the past.

Incredible history. Roger Sanchez, the museums curator is a tremendous gift and asset to the state of New Mexico. His passion for - and knowledge of - Raton and the surrounding area is truly remarkable. Find time to visit him and make a donation to the museum. Great little museum. I received a complementary guided tour of the exhibits, and it was fascinating. I learned a lot about the history of the town and area. I would recommend this museum to anyone stopping through and have an hour or two of free time.

Very nice museum. Take the tour if available and if you have an hour or so to spend. The guided tour really gives you insight into the lives of the local people who worked in the mines. Would be a great stop to make before going up to Sugarite State Park to see the Sugarite Mine Camp.

Very informative,Lots of history,Staff was very helpful.Great place to learn about Raton and New Mexico and its history. Very cool place for adults and kids.

The gentleman whos in charge of this place gives one of the best tours. Its one thing to look at the exhibits yourself, but its another when hes telling you about them himself. I discovered numerous quirky details and unexpected facts about Raton. Here you will learn about Ratons surprisingly rich history, considering how desolate it appears to be today.
