Friday night DEAD, came to eat and play cards, music performed by 1 person who had the volume up way to high, could not enjoy any conversation or dinner in the open dinning room. Moved to the bar. The bar is nice, drinks are well made. Dinner was tasty but pricey for a place with no ambiance. You talked of a speakeasy, you show lavish dining area and people dressed to the nines. Nothing like that at all. When playing cards the employees are filling in spots because its so dead. Not to say its not fun to sit down with the employees, I did learn how to play pai gow. Dont think Ill be back.Made my deposit

Yes! A quality sit down restaurant in Cordova! The menu is slim in dishes offered, BUT good diversity in choice and high quality ingredients/presentation. Exceptional, attentive service. Comfortable booth seats, as well as large bar and bar tables/chairs. They just opened three months ago (in July), so card room yet to get under way, and breakfast menu limited to Mon-Fri 11a-noon before the regular menu takes over.

Honestly, it was surprisingly good. First, there is no casino. Apparently they got shut down by the gaming commission and our waitress said it happened months ago and she isnt sure it will ever come back. We went on a Friday night and it was empty. The decor is dated. I was certain the food wood be mediocre. To my surprise, it was actually really good. Everything was cooked perfectly and the waitress was very attentive. Hopefully they can fix their issues and then they would be perfect.

I love the restaurant! Very reasonably priced but good. Cocktails are $7. The same drink would be $14 downtown. Had the salmon risotto and it was amazing. My friend is dairy free and we split it. We thought she was just going to skip out on the risotto because she is allergic but they surprised us and made separate rice just for her. Portions were are also very large considering it was a split plate. Very much appreciated.

Played some blackjack, drank two beers and ate a deliciously prepared chicken marsala. Had a great time.

Service, food, and drinks are outstanding! The delictable surprise was the blueberry cheesecake . Made in house not too sweet textures range from moist dense cake to creamy cheesecake layer on top. Planning to try the lemon on next visit.

Great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Our band Proxy performs there every 2nd and 4th Fridays. Starting at 7:00, we feature classic boomer rock for all ages. I always make sure to have either the burger, ceaser salad, or sliders when Im there. They are that good!

Magnolia house is a casino but it is also a very nice restaurant and bar. Im not much of a gambler so we were just there for lunch. I had a good blackened chicken sandwich and a cold beer. Nice clean, modern surroundings and good service. Staff was very friendly.

This place has amazing food, I cant say enough good things about this place!!!First of all I have to give these guys kudos on the amazing remodel they did of this historic building. The details and craftsmanship is phenomenal.Ive eaten here now twice, and both times I left so happy and full. I had the blackened chicken sandwich the first time with sweet potatoe fries and it was one of the best samdwiches Ive ever had.The second time I ordered the blsck and blue flat bread and again was blown away by the quality of the steak, so juicy and tender. Ive never had a flat bread I was crazy about till this one.The staff here is so friendly and fast, I couldnt believe how quick my food came out, it was amazing.The place wasnt packed, I was sat immediately and they had good music playing, I really love the decor of the restaurant, it totally fits the era.The bar is pretty amazing looking all lit up, with a fireplace burning nearby.There is also another big fireplace I saw in the casino area thst has not opened yet but I look forward to coming and playing some holdem when it opens.Overall the place is very authentic and the history of the Sheepherders Inn going back to 1913. The staff showed me a bunch of the photos from when it was originally being built.I highly reccomend this place, its enjoyable and even affordable for the quality and portion of food you get. Its a place I will come often especially when they have bands.

Nice place didnt gamble. But the casino area was small. I had the chicken sandwich which was good my friends said their food was good as well so no issues. Small and out of the way but still a cool spot.

Excellent! Took my mother and mother in law to celebrate Mothers Day. Service was great and staff very nice and accommodating. Especially Autumn. Food was excellent. Party of 15 and everyone enjoyed their meals.

I had the meatloaf, I couldnt finish all of it because it was too much food. But it was really good and the price was very reasonable. Pretty good selection of beer and the service was awesome, really attentive server who seemed to enjoy being there. I would visit again.

I had the opportunity to stop by. The normal day bartender was working evenings. Absolutely a phenomenal experience. Michel the day bartender, Was exceptional with the group that we had. Some were going to gamble. Some were just there for dinner. She made us all feel wonderful. Great food at a good price. Will be back.

This was a very comfortable spot with multiple fireplaces, high beautiful ceilings, a color changing bar, and card games. The building is obviously historic and the bartenders can fill you in on the checkered history of the property. Everyone should come by here to check it out. It is a classy spot. Sitting next to the fire with some wine would be great.

Very Poor, Ordered the scallops and received 5 little round Gummy Scallops that were cooked horribly, was on a Bed of what they call Risotto drizzled with some orangish yellow stuff around it supposed to be truffle sauce...NOT and the nerve to charge $27.00 what a Joke. Someone needs to look at the food before it comes out.....Never Again

Visited for dinner on a Wednesday. Good food and service. Four of us had appetizers, salads, meals, and cocktails. Very competitively priced, and good quality food.

Went here for a work lunch and had the chicken marsala. It was pretty damn good. The service was also on point.

The service was very, very slow. No one to seat you and after asking at the bar, I was told they would be right out. I waited 4 to 5 minutes for a table, after asking to be seated. There was only one table with 3 customers at it, at the time, so this slow service was not due to beimg busy.The meal took about 25 minutes to come out, it was meatloaf, mashed, and sautéed squash. Only one dinner with no side orders, so Im not sure why it took so long. The meatloaf was okay but both pieces of bacon were not just limp, but raw, which made the meatloaf unappetezing. The mashed, gravy (not enough) and vegetables were really good. I did bring the bacon to the attention of the server, only because undercooked pork can be a health issue.The waitress there were not really paying attention to their customers, but staff itself seemed to enjoy each others compny.

My wife and I came here for the first time for a late lunch. We had the crusted salmon, cheese steak sandwich, beet salad, and chicken wings. It was all fantastic and had to meet Chef Luis. He took the time to explain his cooking process and was very personable. Also, our server Jack provided excellent customer service and explained the history about the property. If you get a chance, this place is a must to grab a bite and play some cards if you like. Its also a Casino...who knew? Give em a try...you wont be disappointed! Btw... Try the Peach Jalapeno Margarita...Bomb!

I had sea food pasta and garlic bread. The pasta was very oily, not enough linguini or veggies, the salmon was fishy. I he garlic bread was only too. We also had clam chowder. Not good. Too thick and didnt taste like clam chowder and not enough veggies. Service was ok.

Servers should always come by and remind their guests its last call for happy hour. Other than that, service good appetizers good

Impressed with our visit to the bar for appetizers and craft beer on tap. Ordered to go as well. I have been coming to this place since it was the original Sheep Herders and by far this was my best experience with the desire to comeback! They have a breakfast menu as well. Great job to the restaurant owner who owned Fire Rock for his new endeavor and the owners of the casino. Looks like this new casino is a transfer license from Rancho Cordova Club. Keep up the good work.

Food was good and very reasonably priced. Nice bar, with good beers on tap. The dining area looked ok, but we ate at the bar. ATM was down, so couldnt test out the gambling facilities.

Its ok.Food was ok. Nothing wrong with the food, just nothing special. On the plus side serving sizes were appropriate size (not super size), and prices are not ridiculously high.Service was awful. The servers were friendly enough, just very slow and disorganized. One of the four people in our party didnt get his dinner until the other three had finished. They could have just had a bad night.I doubt I will ever visit again. I certainly wouldnt go out of my way.

The food and service was excellent! The portions were planning full and the price was right. Really enjoyed this restaurant which is the new fine for us here and Rancho Cordova. :-)

Im not impressed. Food was fine but nothing special but a safe choice to food and drink. The new renovations look great. I know with a group, it can take longer but it took over half an hour to get our food. Shoot, we werent even given menus until 10 minutes after sitting down. Our drinks were refilled 4 times before we got food and with new straws each time already put in the drinks... It really wasnt a bad experience for a Friday lunch with the office but I dont need to come back for anything else but drinks. My coworkers enjoy this place and all it has to offer so I look forward to see improvements on food and service for larger groups

Its a small casino but it has every table I need. It has a few blackjack tables with a good bonus, and a few poker table. The kitchen food taste amazing.

Since the casino opened. We waited one hour for our food from the time the ticket was turned in. That was for the appetizers, they were brought to the table together. Unfortunately the entree was cold. And we had upgraded to garlic fries and they were cold and soggy. The potstickers were awesome. It will be awhile before we try it out again.

This place better show this amazing sandwich, because 1 hour here you will need AA NA and Gambling holics.

Im giving them a 3 the food was good...but when my waitress brought out my food most of my fries and half of my sandwich fell off the plate onto the table and although she tried to make up for it. She touched all my fries and sandwich with her hands putting them back onto my plate.

The place itself is nice very classy looking the problem is that the original management team and florman that ran the park with Casino off of zinfandel less than a year ago are the same ones that run this casino now and whats wrong with that is I have still to this day undeniable irrefutable verifiable proof that the floorman from Parkwest were cheating me and other players out of our earned player Rewards and were not talking free meals or anything were talking hundreds and hundreds of dollars in free rewards and free play that we were being cheated out of and when presented to the general manager of the casino then which is the general manager of this casino now rather than deal with the problem and address is forming who are doing the wrongs she instead labeled as troublemakers and 86 us from the establishment and has carried over those 86 bands to the new casino as well and for what because we wanted what we were being cheated out of because we wanted what was rightfully ours what we learned by our play and our amount of money that we would spend in a casino the Managements a joke the floor men have favorites and a bear unfair business practices making an unpleasant experience and I will continue to dog and bad mouth them as long as I have breath in my body because they showed no remorse as I said I had irrefutable verifiable proof that I was being cheated that other players were being cheated out of benefits the date earned and the management did nothing about it rather just labeled troublemakers and 86th us because they were going to get along just fine without a business especially if they didnt have to pay or benefits. This is not how to run a casino business and this person that is the general manager of the casino does not belong in that position using if hes not going to regulate and enforce the rules of the casino on his employees rather than side with them knowing that theyre in the wrong to avoid confrontation within his workplace its a cowardly act to take the cop out to avoid the problems of just one customer devaluing that customer when really every customer should be valued equally regardless of their spending limit

Went for lunch with a friend. We chose a booth and a few seconds after sitting down, we jumped up, due to the load of ants crawling over the seats and us. We then chose a table next to the window, and after a few minutes, and wiping off a stray ant here and there, that we thought were remnants from the booth, realized there was an even larger ant trail coming down the wall, right next to my arm, and onto our table. So we chose another booth, after a thorough search to make sure there were no ants this time we sat down and ordered. We were both still wondering where else there were ants and still feeling a little twitchy and wondering if the kitchen was clean, because the restaurant obviously hadnt been cleaned well enough. The waitress was very sweet and polite, but I think a bit inexperienced. The food was ok, not spectacular. When the bill came, I paid by credit card and my friend gave a $20 bill for an almost $12 meal - when the waitress came back, she gave my friend her receipt and no change - she was completely empty-handed - instead she leaned down and asked if she needed change - to which my friend felt very obliged to say no, but after thinking more about it, started getting angry about it. This same thing happened to the people at the table next to us and we could tell they were not happy about it. I think thats a LOT presumptuous of her to think she would get a 67% tip, especially in light of the hassle we had in finding an ant-free zone to sit. Another thing I noticed is that the happy hour menu prices were no less than the full menu. Not much of a reason to go to happy hour. Dont think either one of us will be going back.
