I often sign my daughter up for various clinics and camps. I usually do not have any issues with the instructors and Coach Romel is amazing. My daughter is not on a travel club team but plays volleyball for her school. I always sign her up for the tryout prep camps/various clinics, to help her get ready for tryouts. She has done the middle school prep in past years and this year (as a rising freshman), is the first time she has participated in the high school prep clinic. Not sure who the female coach is that was helping out last night (July 23, 2019) - but I feel any coach showing visible annoyance and frustration toward a young girl, simply because she cannot catch on to a very complicated and complex drill, is unacceptable. Especially, if its a drill she has never seen before. The description for this tryout clinic says Coaches will work toward applying skill development to game application and court play. All players will train together and there will be an emphasis on individual skill development. If your child walks away feeling discouraged and like she wants to crawl up under a rock and hide, then the instructor has failed, not her. All girls do not play at a club level and expecting them to, is doing each and every non-club athlete, a huge disservice! Its absolutely draining when these elite coaches act like a lower skilled (aka non-club athlete), is somehow not worth their time. All coaches should be judged on their impact and influence (including the negative impact/influence they have). We alternate between here and NC Volleyball Academy. Not once has she ever walked away from any of the coaches there, feeling discouraged or embarrassed, because she could not catch on to a drill quickly. She has two more days at this tryout prep clinic, and I hope and pray she does not have to work with this same individual. If she does, I hope this coach checks her ego at the door, before hand.
If I could give less than one star I would. I would like to point out that those giving good reviews are either employed or in cohorts with this club in an effort to save face. This was THE WORST club experience I’ve ever had. The biggest waste of money and the most stressful experience ever. I don’t have enough time to hit all the points of unprofessionalism, under-handedness, immaturity and flat out bafoonery that this club represents. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Don’t even try out for this club!!
My daughter has played with NC Elite for 2 years (and with another area club the year before that). NC Elite has been a great experience. My daughter has loved all of her coaches and I really appreciate all Micholene, the club director, does to make travel volleyball workable for families. She made our concerns her concerns and solved real hurdles for us. NC Elite has a strong program and it feels like a family that cares. Looking forward to next year!
We love NC Elite! My daughter has played for this club for 2 years and we could not be happier. She has progressed in her skills, has had very knowledgeable and supportive coaches, and the club is organized and communicates well with the student athletes and parents.
Ive loved working for NC Elite Volleyball Club for the past several years! As a former player I was provided with an awesome club experience, which ultimately prepared me for collegiate-level volleyball at a D3 University. The coaches and staff provide a true family atmosphere and work with each athlete on an individual basis to ensure they have the best experience possible.
NC Elite is an extremely well organized and managed youth volleyball club. My daughter and our family enjoyed the experience and competition. Highly recommend NC Elite for any aspiring club vb player!
Elite provides a wonderful environment for girls to develop their skill and experience. The coaches provide a positive learning environment, to help each player reach her potential!!!
Nice volleyball club.... recently updated.
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!! This is our 3rd year at NC Elite Volleyball. Both of our daughters have chosen NC Elite over several other clubs because they love the great coaching staff, Vertimax training and family atmosphere they have created. Nice they have youth program (VolleyU for girls under 13) and created new levels of club teams to make things more affordable for families. Directors are super approachable and easy to talk to - they don’t tell you what you want to hear - they tell you the truth and what you need to know. Can’t find this great vibe in any other club in the triangle!!
Coach Romel is one of the best coaches in the area. Cant wait to see the new floors at the netsports facility.
I love working for NC Elite Volleyball Club! I have played for the club since it was started. I was lucky enough to be an MVP of a National Championship team coached by the director of Communications herself Micholene Schumacher. Without Elite I would not have had the opportunity to play at D1 school UNCW. Since then I have been coaching and continue to love the positive and enthusiastic environment in the gym!
Our daughter played for NC Elite and she will never play for them again. First off, we chose NC Elite based on the coaches experience (bios). Come to find out, those bios weren’t very accurate so I highly recommend you do your research and definitely ask around. Then, there’s also the facility...absolutely horrible for the girls and their joints and why are the girls in charge of putting up and breaking down the volleyball equipment? (They are finally fixing the facility). And then I also observed where each team stayed during their tournaments. I noticed that her daughter’s teams would stay at the “better” hotels. In addition, at AAU Micholene sent out an email stating that if our families would like to go to Disney, please do it AFTER the tournament but yet, her daughter’s team got to go BEFORE their tournament.Overall, unless you’re part of Micholene’s daughter’s team, part of Roxboro or a superstar that they’ve given a scholarship to, you might want to look elsewhere or just really really do your research like who exactly is rating NC Elite on google...AKA coaches
