Love this place! So much fun stuff to do, and the food is way way better than any other place you can bowl at!!!!
Usually a really great, eclectic mix of performers. Excellent cat mural (a must have in all bars?). Seating/standing along the perimeter, which is nice for short people, like me. Good beer selection and the sound is usually really good!! Love this place!
I totally would have loved to give Kings four stars for last night but given the fact that my ears have been ringing ever since, I had to deduct one. They had the music up louder than anywhere Ive ever been. Im not joking, Ive been going to concerts for 20 plus years and Ive never had a night where my hearing was so messed up after a concert like last night. But I do still love their venue and the different bands they play. Also, as somebody whos unable to drink beer, I liked the cider they had on tap.
Kings is pretty much the perfect music venue! The stage, sound system, and room are just the right size. They are big enough to host large shows but small enough that everything still feels intimate for the audience. They go out of their way to keep the schedule interesting with a variety of bands as well comedy, trivia, game shows, and just about anything else you can think of. The staff is friendly, the sound team is professional, the bar is stocked, and things run very smoothly schedule-wise. Overall, a fantastic place to spend the evening!
Nice little personal music venue. Careful though, it gets super loud. Earplugs recommended.
Great night of music. Be warned it is standing room only and wont start on time.
I run a live sound reinforcement and entertainment company, as well as the band DethCadence in Fuquay-Varina. I enjoyed this venue and the employees. They were very hospitable and welcoming. Their communication was on point and fast. We were able to get an event rolling with no problems. The sound engineer there was helpful and paid attention to detail with the bands needs.More venues should be like this in that area. Sadly these guys were the only ones that hold the gold for professionalism. We can’t thank them enough. A load in elevator would be nice but hey, the hard work paid off well. Can’t wait to play there again! Our audience thoroughly enjoyed the place and the bar. Thanks guys much love to you all!
Great fairly small venue. I enjoyed the atmosphere and will look for more shows here!
Great place to catch a show of many varieties musical and otherwise. Crowds can be laid back and also intense depending on whos playing, clean cool space with a perfect little bar in the back. Neptunes downstairs is also a great place to chill/drink
Killer sound & staff. This place has soul, edge and is a great zone to discover music.
Always have loved Kings! Great venue for all styles of music. The 7 stories production is a must see for sure as well!
Cool, no-frills music venue with bar. Service was good and staff friendly. Great place for live music, as long as theres not too large of a crowd as the space isnt very big.
Went to King’s to hear The Soft Moon play live last Sunday. I hadn’t ever been there before. It was a pretty cool venue! The staff and bar tenders were friendly, the drinks were really good and priced the same as everywhere else in Raleigh, pretty much. The bathrooms were clean. I dig the “Kitty David Bowie” mural by the stage haha :) The sound was perfect. That about sums up my experience there. I’d definitely go back.
“Welcome to Kings!” someone shouted from the middle of the venue. It was Saturday of #Hopscotch2019 and the artist was set to play except the sound engineers (if you could call them that) could not meet the modest demands of the artists: working mics, vocals in the monitor, no guitar in the monitor, guitar in the drum monitor, turn down the sound booths’ microphone. I’ve been going to concerts since 2001 and I’ve never seen a venue suck so bad. The Kings sound guys’ unprofessional and inept actions ruined the evening. Right before I walked out, the artist apologized for it being so loud. They were visibly frustrated and just sped up their songs to get through their set. I will not be returning to Kings ever again.Brandon Lee
Good venue. Great size room. Minimal seating, but whos there to sit?
I like seeing shows here. Intimate setting, good sound, easy to get in and out of. The y’all PBR’s will erase your memory though.
One of the best alternative venues in Raleigh. Safe, and clean. They have great booking and a good bar.
Great place. Lots of fun. Cheap drinks.
Great bar. The downstair basement has a very hipster vibe. 11/12 times this place has been awesome. Especially after midnight people tend to dance and really get into it.
Went to hear a bluegrass group. Poor sound, mostly due to reflective acoustics and loud crowd noise. Bar was ok, not a great selection.
Love this place, its welcoming, old-fashioned and has a good acoustic too. It is cozy and enjoyable, perfect for acoustic gigs.
Kings rocks. It is small and loud, with dive bar aesthetics, a high stage and good sound. Bar is large, easy to get to, and the bartenders provided very fast service.
Amazing sound stage and super nice staff. Lots of room I felt like. Good crowd numbers, but packed just enough to have a good live audience show up, but without being elbow to elbow.
We were pleasantly surprised by this bar. We had assumed most of these music venues in downtown Raleigh were very dive bar college kid Hangouts. We went to Kings on a night that was an 80s and 90s band and we went a little early we were able to get a seat and there was some dancing the band was fantastic and not a college kid in sight. Not sure if there is more of a college seen on other nights with other music but the night we went was perfect for the 30-50 group
This place is a terrific music venue that specializes in local and regional rock but still offers a good variety of other genres and touring bands. The space allows for a good sized crowd while still remaining intimate. There are also fun options like movie nights, game shows, and even the occasional drag show. The bar staff is quick and attentive, even when packed like on Great Cover Up nights. This is a good place for a beer or a basic mixed drink, so dont plan on ordering a complicated cocktail or shot, or at least wait for if the crowd is small. There isnt much seating, just a few spots around the perimeter of the room, so plan on arriving early if you want a spot to sit the whole night. Kings isnt anything fancy, but it knows what it is and is really good at being that.
The greatest music venue in the world
Very supportive environment for comedians. Staff is great and atmosphere was nice.
Great, fun, energetic atmosphere with plenty of space. Country nights are really fun, especially watching my friends getting tossed off the mechanical bull. Its not just bowling, its an adult playground. Food is awesome for a bowling place.. must try the avocado toast and buffalo chicken wontons. Our server Collin was very attentive..kept the drinks coming, and treated us like royalty. Definitely will be coming back.
Neat little place with great local bands!
Love the comedy on Fri and mello mike is awesome
Seeing Natalie Prass tonight. Very chill, friendly crowd, great sound system, easily accessible bar. Fun times are had.
Amazing experience! love how the bar is conveniently placed behind the lanes. managers came to check on our tables twice and all the servers/ bartenders made us feel like home!definitely the spot material.
Besides the stairs and awkward way its laid out they have decent bands play here and other cool events.
Its the best concert venue in Raleigh. I hope thats enough details. Insider tip: go behind the bar and sit on top of the black row seating for elevation if youre short or hate people.
Disclaimer: Was there for a private event so hard to evaluate as a public venue. The bar was nice, the bathrooms were clean, the decor is amusing. Not a lot of seating, and not much space at all, so would not be good for large events, but it suited our event.
My wife and I came to this place, it was close to our hotel, and the service and food was amazing one guy named Collin took care of us 5 star and above....
This place was pretty decent
Generous pours!
A fun, spacious venue with a huge bar and a mural that changes every so often! Lots of room to drink and dance, and Neptunes downstairs is a totally different, spooky vibe. Both are awesome!!
Collin was awesome. Good dude. Quick service.
Bar staff is just awesome. Dont go to the Great Cover Up though; its too crowded, we dont want you there.
Cool nightclub with a bar and small stage featuring local acts. I saw nance the rapper from the Raleigh area. Its standing only with no seats in the middle of the club.
Great atmosphere and entertainment
Cool, open music venue with a large bar and a few small tables and some seating in the perimeter. The stage is nice and big, and the music sounded really good - and loud! I think they would benefit from more seating and decorations.
This is a great place to catch a concert. It has a very intimate vibe and layout.
Chill spot, friendly people. Saw a great show there that sounded great.
Nice intimate venue with good sound and bar, but the lighting rig is limited and apparently the fire system limits the use of fog machines.
Great variety of shows! I have been visiting for a few years now and have everything from from heavy metal, to surfer rock, to burlesque acts, to bboy/bgirl dance offs here. It is an intimate venue and there is bench style seating along the walls. There is a bar and some barstool seating to the left of the stage. The rest of the area is standing space. They have cool quirky decorations and definitely book good performers.
Was there for The Dangling Loafer monthly comedy showcase. Great show and great venue (as always!)
Great place for alternative (avant garde?) music
Great stage and audio system for performances. Bar area is cool too. Pretty good venue compared to other local venues.
Loved the place for the music they host! Perfect place to listen to good live music!
Great local music venue. Great owner and staff. They have so many non music stuff thete too. Great place to hang.
A small and unique venue in the heart of downtown Raleigh. With an eclectic and varied taste in performers, Kings caters to all and works hard to create a very inclusive atmosphere.
Between the service and the entertainment, Im not really sure what the best part was! I honestly cant wait to come back!
Great venue for events! Beers on tap are quality, none of the Miller Lite/ Bud Light crowd in here. Hipster friendly.
There will always be a special place in my heart for Kings.
Staff was friendly and the bands I saw were great!
The bartenders may be the most incompetent in the world. They act like they are above serving people, god for bid you ask for a beer in a bar....dont expect quick or any service if you go to this venue. They ironically dont care.
Good place to watch a band although the music is ALWAYS turned up too loud. It really doesnt need to be there. Otherwise great venue.
The bar service was awful but the venue is cool
Great venue, though bar can get crowded at a sold-out show. Some guy threw a trashcan behind the bar, but that wasnt the venues fault. Thats a metal show for you..
Always something going on. The once a year dog show is hillarious.
Never been here, but dont plan on it after how incredibly rude the douche who answered the phone was. Customer service is, like, too mainstream. In his defense, it is pretty damn difficult to answer a phone and speak coherently like an adult. Ill give him that.
Good vibe
Awesome music venue, good local bands. Saw Kurtzweil play here with FIN and Hemingway, great show. Will go back.
Great place for live music and good drink prices.
Really large event space that can hold a good number of people. Requires to buy a membership to get into events that $2. Drinks are pretty heavy-handed so eat before partying. Youll have to yell a bit to get a bartenders attention, but you knew that since this is a club/event space.
Consistantly good BBQ
Good bar service. I was there for a concert and the acoustics were terrible. Surprised they havent upgraded in all these years.
Delicious local cuisine. Highly recommeded. Reservations are advised!
Cool venue for small/local shows. Good bar.
Bowling and bar/service at the alley: 5 STARSHad a little mechanical problem that got apologized for and quickly fixed. It just meant we got more time to listen to the good music.Restaurant/bar inside: 1 STARService at the bar was terrible. It was almost as if the place had only been open for a week or two and no one was really trained. Our bartender was not good, but.... There are a couple reasons for this I noticed. The bar was understaffed, not trained well, and the bar taps were running warm. The third point is the worst. When it take 15 minutes to actually pour a pitcher of beer, you are really setting your bartenders up to fail. At the end of the night I still tipped 15% because I felt bad for the bartender getting a bad rap.
Great venue for music performances and dancing. Has bar also.
Cool spot and awesome show with MayDay!
Great place to see live music, very chill and unique.
Nice folks. Good sound.
Always a great place to see shows!
Superb spot to watch live music and drink beer.
One time for the good time!
Great space and decore, parking is not too far away at Moore Square and is usually free after 7pm.Bathrooms are not disgusting, drinks are reasonable and they have a good draft selection of NC beers. My only complaint is that the sound often painfully loud. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know what youre thinking— If its too loud, youre too old. But I dont have this complaint at Local 506, Motorco, Pinhook, or either room at the Cats Cradle. We see a lot of bands and years ago I realized no band is worth permanent hearing loss and when youre ears are ringing the next day and you had ear protection? They book some great bands, but its not worth it for me.
Love the layout. Shows there are always fun!
Kings has a great bar and a constant stream of amazing music
Awesome venue, whether your playing or listening!
Great shows, good beers, decent mixed drinks.
Very friendly staff. Fun for kids!
One of my favs. One of the best music venues in Raleigh.
Always good. Great room and sound.
