Just cant believe the food that comes out of that little kitchen. Recently I sat at the bar and watched the craziness. I ordered some chili nachos and they were soooo good I had to try the Pretender which was excellent. I will be back!

What drew me to this place initially was its lively atmosphere. Even in the pandemic there was a certain bustle that was absolutely intoxicating. It also helped that they regularly have live music which really brought back a feeling of nostalgia of going to bars and restaurants which provided live music.the food was delicious and the white strap was very friendly on the multiple occasions weve gone thus far. I love the eclectic taste and menu and plan to return again soon. I super hope they figure out a safe way of doing their open mic night, which we had tried to attend last Sunday, sadly to realize that the safety of a shared microphone had not been figured out yet in the health department was not willing to allow them to try. Lets cross our fingers then maybe this will be another feature to push them over the line to five-star category!

We sat indoors to see the band, which was great. Felt safely distanced at our table. The staff all wore masks, but I was amazed how many people walked around without masks and were not told to put them on. Also, a lot of people were allowed to stand around. Maybe the rules are different in CT. We were seated near the kitchen and it often smelled like burning food or, worse yet, burned plastic. Once our waitress left for the evening, we got no service. I ordered one of the specials- pulled BBQ pork, and was underwhelmed. Looked slapped together, small, and the toast was burned. At least the music was good.

Found this place because of Google. Walking thorough the neighborhood was pleasant, found parking easily and when I saw the outdoor seating layout I was impressed. Clean and orderly, tables spaced just right for social distancing and conversations. Our server, Will, was AMAZING. He made all the right suggestions. My date had a Tie ME to the Bar Mai Tai, which was prepared by a professional. This I know because it TASTED as if it was. I ordered the Thimble Island Chloe. Both were a great pairing with the spinach artichoke dip Will recommended. The interior of the establishment was really great. The eclectic art, the cleanliness and attention to detail was also great. The restroom was clean, so no worries there. I hear they have bands and comedy there as well, so.... I am DEFINITELY coming back. Cant wait to try more of the menu and the many local beers they have to offer. #wickedpissahshow

Good food and nice draft beer offerings. Staff is friendly and helpful. Currently (8/20) there is take out, outdoor seating, and indoor seating with a minimum of 6 feet distancing.

The food is so great! and their service is fast and nice staff!

The menu was very limited. Mostly versions of grilled cheese sandwiches and about 5 entrees to pick from, all a form of pot pie. I ordered the pie with chicken, it was the size of a sauser, with no sides, had limited shredded chicken with some weird crust at $14. My fiancee ordered the beef pie and had the same experience, large onion slices, no beef or scallop potatoes on top. It all looked like La Choy chop suey from a can and tasted worst. The draft beers were good but very experience at $6.50 to $9 each. After happy hour no drink specials are offered $160 for 4 people who left hungry. By far the worst dining experience ever.

Always great food and music... Service is slow at times due to having only one server thats also the bartender if it gets busy... But with the outside seating theres usually an additional server attending to that crowd and dividing up the total crowd. 5 stars either way... Love the atmosphere - art for sale on the wall hasnt changed in a while... Prices are steep but negotiable. Just want to see some new/other work thatll peak my interest. Great place overall with artisan grilled cheeses and burritos and fresh fruit muddled drinks and great craft beer options. Check it out!

I have been here before, never had I had an experience like this. My sister and myself spoke with the hostess and decided to wait for outdoor seating. A couple showed up a second after us and when a table opened up they received the open spot. Nonetheless we decided to leave after blatantly being ignored and disrespected. Lovely establishment horrible service.

This place had awful timing with the food coming out. We ordered an hour ago and now we have to take it out, absolutely absurd! Don’t recommend eating in if you are looking for a speedy service.

The Stomp is by far a higher level restaurant in every way. Excellent food, entertainment, service, and art! It quickly becomes a favorite! A place of culture, truly.

My wife and I went here on Sunday for lunch. The food was fantastic. We both had the B.O.B. I honestly forget what it stands for but it was biscuits and beef covered with gravy. ( I like gravy) The service was fast, efficient, and very friendly. They even have live music. The band we saw was called Little Sugar and the Tease Spoon Trio They were very good.

I LOVED this place! We were in the area visiting friends and they brought us here for dinner and drinks. The beer selection was fantastic and the food was amazing! Definitely try the chili! It was hearty and worth every calorie! Ill be back next time I visit for sure!

Great place to try a rotating draft and catch some cool live music. Do yourself a favor, if you stop by, order an Arturo Sandoval grilled cheese. You wont be disappointed!

Nice little downtown pub, prices are a bit high for a small town like this, but the food is really great for a bar! I went there a few times because they had great Blues bands playing, only had drinks the first times, I finally tried the food and didnt regret at all! I will come back for live music for sure and will probably eat there again too!

The Stomping Ground was a cool bar/restaurant to see Professor Harp and his band on the small stage. We liked the menu selections, it wasnt your ordinary menu and the food was damn good! If its busy though, youll have to wait a while for your food, as its an incredibly small 1 man kitchen. Their cook was busting his butt trying to get food out asap. If youre up in the quiet corner of CT. and end up in Putnam, check out it out. While youre there, check out the artwork that hangs on their walls. Pretty cool too!

Between the food, beer selection, and atmosphere, this place is top notch. As much as I love going in the evening to hear the music, lunch time is something special too. They always have a great playlist going and friendly staff. Easier to look at all the funky art work during the day too.

Had heard good things about this place. I was not disappointed. Excellent prices,food and service. A very unique place. They had some local musicians playing while we we there that were very good and from what I understand this is pretty normal for them. Excellent I would recommend this to a friend.

This place is terrible. They dont have descent food like fries. They dont have fries. The burgers are terrible and they dont have a lot of drink choices.

Stopped in for lunch last month. Great grilled cheese sandwiches and macaroni salad. Topped it off with a great dessert! Loved the atmosphere and hoping to swing in some night for the live music. Owner was very friendly and fun to talk to. Would like to know the recipe for the macaroni salad...please!

Great vibe. The food combinations in their dishes are quite interesting..but when you taste them, quite amazing. I wanted to try every single thing. I had and highly recommend the Neil Young burrito. Oh and for dessert..bacon brownie. Excellent.

Visited downtown Putnam and wanted to get a bite to eat and check out a local vibe. Saw the Stomping Ground and it looked like a good local hangout bar. I actually liked the feel of the place but was disappointed with the food/drink. It was taco Tuesday so decided to try the 2 tacos for $7 thing and a Diet Coke. The tacos were just that, 2 smallish street tacos with chicken. The chicken was kinda dry and not enough sauce/topping to help out in that regard. I expected more for $7. It was a hot day and I was on my motorcycle so was thirsty and down the soda pretty fast, prob about 12 Oz of soda. The bar tender asked me if I wanted another soda and I said yeah. Had I known it would be another $2.75 or so I would have passed. Not too many places charge for a soda refill these days, so over $5 for the soda. So 3 stars for small dry tacos and $5.50 soda, one star higher than I otherwise would give due to the fairly cool vibe.

I am so sorry to have to write this, but disappointment is an understatement. Out of 4 of us, no one could find anything resembling a baked potato in our House of Pain grilled cheese. The phyllo dough in the De Niro was void of any shaved parmesan and the entire dish was unremarkable. And last but not least, the soup had to be returned because it was luke warm. I was embarrassed as I chose this restaurant for lunch for our out of town guests. I was at the Stomping Ground about 2 months ago, and had nothing but great things to say, it was out of this world delicious, we all oohed and aahed over our grilled cheese sandwiches this time not so much, I felt like I was at a completely different restaurant, simply meh.In response to your reply, you could not have been watching that close if there was zero evidence of a shred/shaved cheese on the pot pie, and no baked potato in the sandwiches. Stand by the unremarkable meh comment. We just made a poor choice that day. Yes you did comment on the new help, we assumed once the soup was served tepid, and the rest came out subpar, what was the point of complaining, we all just tried to make the best of it. And of course I ate the soup once it was reheated, why wouldnt I? Dont recall any effusing going on. You are correct, we did not complain about the lackluster sandwiches, they were edible, but just meh. So if we did complain, the sandwiches would have gone back to have the potato added, the pot pie sans cheese would have had some added on, while one person sat there with their sandwich eating by themselves. That would not change the fact the food was served incorrectly the first time. Oh I forgot to mention the wobbly table and chairs, they were a delight. Still making apologies to our out of town guests, embarrassed to say we chose Stomping Ground at what we felt was the best Putnam had to offer for lunch.

These people need to tell their patrons the limitations of their kitchen. Food took a long time coming out. Only one person working the kitchen.

This is always my go-to place. Do you want a real meal? Do you want a real drink? Do you want someone working there to know what theyre doing? The Stomp has all of that. The food is always good, the drinks are always made with the best ingredients, and most importantly everything is done the way you want it. I dont want to single any one person out because they all do such an outstanding job, but Sam has been there since my first visit and is always right there to help. Terry runs the show and always has the best people working for him. The ambiance is captivating, as the artwork and music work in perfect harmony. So good. So great. Love it.

Make no mistake about it...this is not a bar that serves food, this is a restaurant that has a bar. The food here was outstanding. Six of us were here and everyone ordered something different and every dish was delicious. The quality of the food was much more like you find in a highly rated restaurant not what you typically find in a bar.In addition to the food, this bar offers live bands multiple days a week. We were lucky enough to catch a band called The Low Cards and they blew us away. Strongly recommend stopping in and grabbing a bite next time you are near Putnam.

The 1 and only reason for a 4 star and not a 5 is due to the size of the place. I dont know if it would be as awesome if it were alot bigger. Its a catch 22 I guess. Overall its a must visit, with an awesome wait staff the 4 times Ive been.

This is the most fun you can have in Putnam, in a little pub right downtown. Besides great people and live music, their food maybe the best on the square. Half of the big menu is vegetarian.

First time at The Stomp - on a Sunday afternoon - super busy. Fun atmosphere, good music, and the cook, Mike, performs some kind of magic in that tiny kitchen! The bartenders/waitstaff are some of the hardest working people Ive seen, super nice, too. Well be back!

Terry and the gang always offer a great time with wonderful food. The menu is definitely different from your standard fare and a most welcome addition to the area. The music is usually a lot of fun and sometimes a truly sublime experience. It’s such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that I’ve made new friends almost every time I go. I’ve brought friends from Providence who are now regulars for the food and music.

Our friends, Dave and Christine from Victoria Station, introduced us to Stomping Ground. Since then, its been a go-to for awesome grilled cheese and craft brew. Such a cool place...and never a disappointment

Great selection of craft beers bottled and draft. Happy hour 2 to 5 and $1 off drafts. We went on taco Tuesday. Awesome chicken tacos. Their menu states they use local organic foods so double bonus. Friendly waitstaff. Went during the day so it wasnt too crowded. But at night the place really fills up!

Food was great! But since there was only one bartender on, drink refills were hard to come by.
