I almost rated three stars, but they deserve a touch more than that. I would recommend going to support the zoo, however it appears like 60% of the enclosures are empty. (Maybe due to my visit in the winter/Covid-19 who knows) They do have a few unique animals I havent seen. Maybe if more people go they willl be able to fill in the empty spots. It was a great place to walk around and is quite spacious. They have put a lot of cool designs into the enclosures that are empty so I think maybe just over time they havent been able to support their full capacity.
Could be much much nicer. But the majority of the animals looked happy and comfortable. Also, to the employee running around constantly wiping everything down with sanitizer... thanks. Someones gotta do it.
Not impressive at the entry but it really did turn out to be a nice and fun zoo. We had a great time. Definitely recommend stopping in if you have time.
We love going here. The staff are amazing. Its a beautiful walk. You occasionally get to interact with the zookeepers and they explain everything they are doing.
I live in Colorado Springs and our local zoo down here costs a fortune compared to the Pueblo Zoo. Very affordable entrance fee. Nice parklike setting. Though they dont have many animals compared to the Denver or Colorado Springs zoo, it was still fun.
It is a small intimate zoo only recently reopening after the Covid shutdown. All of the indoor exhibits are still closed but the animals looked well cared for and actually seemed used to the close viewing areas. The zebra was just on the other side of the fence and looking at us tilting his head!
My husband and I enjoyed walking around the zoo but there was not a lot of animals to see. All of the inside exhibits were closed. The kiosk they have for drinks and souvenirs were also closed. There wasnt very many people walking around.
Was very nice... Kids loved it!!! A couple nice exhibits were closed and would of loved to see them but otherwise it was a great time.
Its a great little zoo. The animals arent overcrowded and seem happy. The staff is helpful and informative. My daughter loves coming here. Were very happy to have a place we can go to get out of the house that is really taking Covid 19 seriously and enforcing rules.
Some zoos feel sterile, plastic, and synthetic. This zoo feels authentic, loved, and genuine. They have a great animal selection and cool exhibits. A wonderful family day trip!
Great little zoo!! If your looking to see a big zoo with tons of animals go to Denver, but this little zoo is GREAT for anyone wanting a cheaper way to spend a few hours and still have a lot of fun!!
Ive been going here since I was a child! It was great taking my children back for a visit while we were in town. The Electric Critters is a fantastic exhibit to visit during November-December. Its a smaller zoo but they have great animal exhibits. Its always clean and lots of things to see! Then you can play at the park afterwards.
At around $10 a head, the Pueblo zoo offers a, well worth the money, small town zoo experience. When walking though I was surprised at how many species the zoo actually has. With play full otters, a red panda and a pride of lions resting on their large exhibit rock. My personal favorite was the peacock that was more then happy to proudly strut his stuff.
What a wonderful surprise!Smaller than I expected, but not disappointing in any way. The grounds are impeccable with wheelchair friendly casual paths that wind through a variety of striking plants. The enclosures are quite clever with the enrichment items available for the animals; which, I might add, were terribly well fed. Lots of shiny coats and full plumage.I would have liked to access the cafe, but they have limited hours. The gift shop has great products at fair prices. Its small so theyve been careful to stock items in lower quantities. Some snacks are in there, too. Itd be brilliant if they had a change machine to exchange bills for quarters to use in the animal feed dispensers. (We were rooting through our pockets for quarters!)I enjoyed the architecture, the sculptures, and the historical value of the zoo immensely. The staff was friendly and welcoming and quick to interact with us. The parking and the adjacent park are a plus. This was a school field trip, but Ill be back with the rest of the family.
9/25/20: I completely understand their phased reopening, but to charge $26 for 2 seniors and a 5 year old grandchild borders on ridiculous! Almost all the exhibits that would interest a five year old child were closed. Couldnt feed any of the animals if you could find them. She did like the otter pool. We spent about 45 minutes before she wanted to leave. I will NEVER return here, nor will I ever recommend it to friends, family or anyone else. If you go, be prepared for great disappointment.
Smaller zoo in Pueblo, but at a great location! The zoo was just enough to throughly enjoy ourselves on a field trip. The staff was helpful, friendly, and passionate about their work. Peacocks roam the grounds freely which makes for exciting pictures. I found this zoo to be very handicap accessible. One negative is that the food court was not open and appeared to be out of commission for some time. Also, many exhibits were not available. The park is a bonus so be prepared to spend some time here!
Its a beautiful little place. There werent many people there so we got to see the animals clearly and had uninterrupted time in the exhibits.
Theyre always trying to improve on the life experiences for their animal patrons while keeping pace with the human enjoyment of seeing them interact.
Seein animals was nice but it appears they need better care and caretakers. My 2 year old daughter was pulling the grass from outside the longhorn pen and tossing it in for them and an employee was extremly rude to us over it. Overall it wouldnt have been worth the cost had the lion not played with her through the glass.
For a small affordable zoo I thought this was a decent day trip. There were lions, zebras, a variety of birds and other wildlife.
Although not all the animals were on display it was still a nice half day date with beautiful nature scapes and resting places. You pay for what youre getting, its not very big but you can stretch it out, and if you arrive before 11:30 you can feed the farm animals.
Very well maintained, indoor exhibits closed with traffic patterns outside to promote Covid safety.
Im sorry, but the zoo is very sad looking. I know its awfully hot outside, but looking at the animals without food. ( perhaps its there schedule) was very sad indeed. The camels were eating sticks, and there was no water around eighter. I did see water near the alpacas. And some dirty green water near the pigs. But. All in all it looks like a gas station zoo.
What an amazing zoo Exhibits were alot of fun and informational. Very unique
Very impressed with it, especially the lion enclosure. Disappointed that the animals were put away a half hour before it closed!Didnt get to see many animals, especially the monkey house.
We have always loved coming to this small zoo. It was inexpensive compared to other places, people were friendly and lots of shade. HOWEVER, we were highly disappointed today and will not be returning anytime soon. Because of COVID they have closed down all Of the building exhibits, which are the main and most interesting parts to see at this zoo. Instead of telling people this before hand there was nothing we could see that warned of this. So they are still charging the same prices; however, you only get to view a small portion of the zoo. It was extremely disappointing, if anything shouldn’t they be charging a discounted price for admissions with this many attractions closed? My biggest issue is that there was no notification of any of this prior to purchasing the admissions for my family. No reason to go right now at all.
A great community zoo. It might not have a lot of the big draw animals, but its not a big city, either. It makes up for it with heart; they care a lot about the environmental impact and take on animals that other zoos wouldnt because they can offer the time and care. There are a lot of great areas for kids to get close to the animals, including a petting zoo, and their winter evening Electricritters is a lot of fun, with a ton of lights and figures (and Santa!).
We love the zoo!! The staff is always friendly and we learn something new every time we go. Today was a fun field trip. Thank you Pueblo Zoo!!
Love it here. Spacious exhibits, clean, beautiful animals. Worth the money, excellent value.
Beautiful little zoo, it looks small to drive around. When you venture inside the layout has you wondering around in a manner that makes the space appear much larger than it actually is.The zoo is filled with stunning gardens and lots of opportunities for kids to learn. If you are visiting Pueblo, the zoo and the surrounding City park are fantastic places to unwind and relax for you and the kids.
This is a cute little zoo, its a pretty place to walk, and my son loves to go.
So much fun! Not overly crowded it was an awesome day!
Great place to spend the day. Affordable snacks for the family and lots to do for kids.
Where is the best zoo around? Im not sure there is one answer. This zoo is amazing and did not disappoint. We took the 102 mile drive for the Red Panda Experience. Totally worth it. The staff were so friendly. All of them. Brittany, who was the lead in the Red Panda Experience was extremely good. Some of the animals here are old. Kaya, the Canadian Lynx. What a beautiful cat. There are way more animals to see here than I expected. It can be gone through in a couple of hours. This is an AZA accredited zoo. The only kind I go to.
So much to see. Very relaxing atmosphere. Animals are well fed, and kept in the clean enviroment.
I love our tiny zoo. We take our daughter there all the time. She knows the place by heart now.
This zoo is so clean and the animals look really good, ayowe friendly staff
Not to bad, nicely shaded, reasonably priced
Beautiful zoo ! Definitely worth visiting if you’re nearby Pueblo ️
The peacocks arent cool with selfies, jsyk, dont even ask them for one
Really neat attraction for the kids and very educational and fun fun the whole family
Although not all of the exhibits were open, we were pleased with the walk about. The kids were really super enthused.
Easy & Small Enough for Quick Visit; Lots of shade & picnic spots
Great place to take your little one
I love this place! I love to go to the park area, surrounding the actual zoo! There is a huge Frisbee golf course. They also have different areas and it is quite spacious, to go for a run or walk your dogs. There is a pond, plenty of grass and tree space, a skate park, a dog park, tennis courts and more! I definitely recommend going at least once.
Unkept weeds and runaway bushes hid the first half of the exhibits, dirty and a bit of a let down. Reminded me of a band playing a fair well tour with an empty stadium.
Always a fun place to go and many interesting animals got nothing to complain about
Great little zoo, we went when it was cold but sunny. The historical part of the zoo was really awesome, old stone and iron work . Felt almost medieval castle like. Very good lion exhibit with a loud boisterous young male to stand tall on the mountain stone and give us a welcoming roar. Penguins were neat as well, being from the desert ive never see them . Really good small town zoo.
Love this little community zoo so much!
They take very good care of the animals in that they have there. My favorite were the lions. The lioness was so big and her fur was so pretty. The Cubs were awesome..and the Males were so huge... it was amazing... 8 cant wait to go see them again.
Thanks for being open and we loved the experience first visit there and was just awesome thanks for the memories.
Great zoo for the price you pay
Better after virus is over. Too many exhibit closed
Pre school field trip was an amazing time the crowd was small and the kids loved it
Im torn between a 3 or 4 star review. Some things I really liked about the zoo and some things not so much. The new exhibits are great. For a small City zoo they are really trying. You have to applaud then for that. Some of the older exhibits are in serious need of help. Around the first few exhibits right at the entrance there was lots of trash which was really heart breaking to see. The newer bigger exhibits they kept pretty clean around them and there were more trash and recycle bins nearby. You can tell where they want you to focus your attention. Its a good way to spend your afternoon. They have got some nice walking paths to the exhibits and there is plenty of shade as well. I think its worth a trip for anyone looking for a relaxing way to spend some time. I do think the price is a bit steep for what you get. So you guys be the judge.. its worth a trip but I dont know about a second one. I do know the monkey wanted out!
Lions were the best part
So Cool... Staff and docents are so friendly, competent and interested in their animals! Really enjoyed our visit. Would love to bring kids here
Pueblo Zoo is pretty basic really. I think anyone who has been to big zoos are going to be let down by how small and plain it is. Plus it seems like parts are always closed off, like the penguins or the otter or the rain forest section. Overall it might be worth a visit if you have kids but once is probably enough so dont bother with a season pass.
My kids had fun. U can tell from pics what they like best. lol
The 24 pizzas are awesome, but I found the to be overly greasy and the bottom was really soggy. They would be great if the bottom was crispy. Great value of you get the coupon from the boat place.
Pueblo has some very special hidden gems. The zoo is one of those. Its a spectacular operation for such a small town as Pueblo. You can tell that the staff take extra care not only of animals but of the grounds and the educational programs. Do yourself and your family a favor and get yourselves to the zoo!
Besides a lot of the enclosures being closed off for covid and the shoes not being open for snacks and drinks or was still an exciting experience
Inexpensive outing to entertain a 3 year old. This zoo is a life saver. For a very low price Im able to enjoy an entire zoo in under 2 hours. Thats with taking our time looking at everything. During the summer months there is also rides my toddler can enjoy. I highly recommend this place.
Love it here! Great staff, the animals are well taken care of and seem very content. Great place to learn about all these amazing creatures!
No animals messy habitats were not taking care of and no shops opened
Alot better than expected looks super small on the outside actually pretty big.
Enjoyed our trip. Plenty of neat animals to see!
Lots of exhibits and a good way to spend a couple of hours letting the little ones run.
Great atmosphere, the animals were engaging, and my family enjoyed every minute we were there.
Love this zoo!! This is perfect especially for little guys because its flat and they can have a little independence and you can still see them. Great exhibits.
Going for 20 years. Good fun
If it had more exotic animals it would of been 5 stars
One of our favorite places to visit. A membership is well worth the cost. We like to stop to just visit a few animals sometimes.
I really enjoyed how it took nearly all day to go through the zoo everything was informative and thorough, but it really bummed us out about the penguin sanctuary being shut down. My son really wanted to see the penguins and weve been here twice now in a couple years time span and the roof is still collapsed in the penguin sanctuary..... Any idea when these guys will be getting it fixed?
Could use some work. I would love to see monkey mountain and the bear pits cleaned up and in use. Otherwise, an easy walk and never as busy as Cheyenne Mountain. My baby enjoys it and can usually stay awake the whole time. Membership is an awesome deal too!
Why is the Zoo charging the Full Price of 12$ when only 1/2 of the zoo is open to the public. Very disappointed ️
The Pueblo Zoo is really cool! The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and the animals seem well taken care of. The staff took time to talk to us about animals they saw we were interested in, which I really appreciated.
I had a great time at the Pueblo Zoo with my family. The zoo is small but still has wide variety of animals for family entertainment. The staff was friendly and they and provided great input about the zoo. The Pueblo zoo also supports the Air Force Reserve.
I spent hours here! Everywhere I looked, there was something new to see. Wonderful outdoor spaces, plus indoor exhibits to see when you need a break from the blazing sun.
The Pueblo zoo is small, nice and clean, clean restrooms, great customer service. So if your looking to spend time with the kiddos for a few hours on a budget its a great place.
Super cute animals! And they recently got new ones! I love the fuzzies!
I love how spacious this zoo is. New enclosures look great!
Enjoyable Fathers Day
Cute little zoo and we love Electricritters. We really need to actually visit during regular zoo hours. Staff are friendly and informative
Good zoo with a fair price.
Loved the red pandas and meerkats. Not crowded. Employees were nice. Took around 3 hours. Nice afternoon.
Pueblo zoo is awesome! My 6 year old loves the otters the most. All the staff we interacted with were incredibly kind and understanding even though my child was throwing an absolute fit when we had to leave. I recommend hanging out with the Gibbons when youre there. Theyre so much fun when they get going!
Great place for my 2 year old son
I was suprised how much of a variety of animals they have and their zoo is actually surprisingly quite big! Out of all the zoo Ive went, these animals seems to be a lot happier with their environment. I can honestly say that Cheyenne and this zoo are probably my most favorite!
While there arent a ton of animals, theres is definitely enough to keep you entertained for a few hours. The electric critters are a fun attraction that any kid would love. The opening time its too late for the smaller folk. Pricing is fair and it typically isnt too busy
Perfect for toddlers. The animals are always so active
Great place to spend an hour or two enjoying the animals.
