There were several little houses to explore and a blacksmith on-site making spoons. Outhouses, us military wagons, several items depicting pioneer life, a schoolhouse complete with non electronic games. My kids not only got an education but thoroughly enjoyed it. They did a scavenger hunt and got butterscotch suxkers.

This was actually really great. They gave out papers for a scavenger hunt. My kids were entertained the whole time! And they traded them in for suckers at the end. A lot of cool artifacts from the early settlers of Provo. Great place to take small kids.

This interesting, free historical park has costumed interpreters. There are free games and activities. It was a pleasant place to visit. Our young children were finished exploring in about 30 minutes but they had lots of questions and it definitely made them think. One visit was enough, though.

Im not sure why the newer review from 2016 isnt included. This site is wonderful and family first! You want to keep in mind that it is run and maintained completely by volunteers so dont expect slick or polished. This isnt Colonial Williamsburg! The site has a wealth of historical buildings and accessories to view close up,

The care the docents of this Pioneer Village give to guests is outstanding. There is a true feeling of respect for those who came before and the preservation of the buildings and the information given allow a person to immerse themselves in the experience.

Great fun for kids. Not a big place, but we spent around 2 hours on pioneer day and certainly didnt see all of it (maybe half, but not in depth and we didnt go on any tours or workshops) The kids got lost in the pioneer games and toys and then the scavenger hunt. It was wonderful.

Ive taken my family here multiple times and the kids always have a great time. The people here do a great job taking is back in time and teaching us how things were done by the pioneers. We all come away having learned something and enjoying time well spent with family.

Lots of history in a condensed area- able to see a lit in a short amount of time as well as experience leather work and info from period hosts- kind of like Williamsburg or This is the Place (SLC)

This place almost always looks closed, but its actually open. Its just very quiet. If you cant get in, try the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum next door and they can often get someone to let you in and show you around. The village features houses, school and work buildings from the first Provo pioneer settlers. Its most popular on July 24, Pioneer Day, when volunteers will help you make crafts and demonstrate all kinds of pioneer skills. Definitely worth checking out.

For a quick fix of pioneer, this is a great place to visit to get a condensed version of the pricier, hotter, and more spread out This is The Place in SLC. If you go on an event day, there are lots of demos to watch. But do yourself a favor and visit on a day other than Pioneer Day when its hard to enjoy with the crowds.
