Beautiful charming theatre in the heart of Princeton. Non-profit theatre, with professional actors and quality productions. Various types of shows, progressive and socially conscious programming. If in the area, definitely worth the visit!

This is one of my favorite places to see theatre in the country. They do poignant, timely pieces that reflect the times. Both spaces are beautiful and comfortable. Ive seen plays in the Berlind and large scale productions like A Christmas Carol in the Matthews. My whole family attended a sensory friendly performance of A Christmas Carol in December and it was a really great experience. So glad theatres like McCarter are making the arts accessible to everyone!

Went to see A Christmas Carol and the production was impeccable. They were able to bring out such raw emotion in scene sequences and the costumes were magnificent. I loved everything from their organization to the show itself. If you are a fan of the Arts and love giving back to the community, this is a great activity for couples and family alike.

It was so awesome being here. I loved it so much, the lights changed perfect timing, and the performers seemed so confident and made it seem like the event was actually taking place right there where they were. I recommend EVERYONE to go here, they do the best performances and I really couldnt ask for more.

Very cool theater on Princetons campus. Free parking garage in the evening a few blocks away. The theater is very intimate with very good sound. The crowd was very quiet and respectful (except of course for the one idiot that yells something when its very quiet). Theres a small limited bar inside to get a quick drink and the restrooms were modern and clean. I will definitely go here again.

Its a very beautiful venue. The construction matches Princetons Ivy League visual. All receptionists were extremely courteous, ready to help and solve any issue. As it was my first time going to this theatre since its location makeover, I couldnt find an easy parking. Worse yet as I needed a handicap parking spot and there werent any signals directing me to especial parking or any kind of parking. Later, a friend let me know that a little farther from the old train station, there is the new parking lot building. If you are parking in front or around the theater, keep in mind that the street parking is not free till 8pm, so dont forget to pay for it in coins or card. Anyways, it was a great evening at the McCarter theater.

Star of Battle Star Galactica, The Closer and Major Crimes. The incredibly talented Emily Mann behind the scenes. The set and seating is fantastic. Everyone from the people Manning the phones, at the will call area. . to the ushers, and people at the bar.. were all incredibly helpful and fun to chat with. I will be back to see the play about lady Frankenstein. Sorry. .. slipped my mind on the proper title.

Its not fair for me to review McCarter. I work here. If it matters to you, the company does what it can to assure its employees a living wage and a livable work environment. In return, we are very invested in making every event the best we can. Theater isnt for everyone, but it is unique in the live audience environment. Everyone should try it a couple of times and McCarter is a great place to do that. We get Broadway designers, directors and actors being so close to NYC. As to ticket prices, McCarter is a not for profit company of over 70 employees. That does not include the actors, designers and directors. It takes an army working behind the scenes to give you a great experience. Check it out sometime!

McCarter Theater always has excellent performances. Their plays are comprable to Broadway. There is the MatthewsTheater and Berlind Theater. Make sure you arrive early because free parking is available at the West Garage on Princeton Universitys property or the Princeton train station and it is a 5-minute walk to the theater. There is wheelchair seating, hearing devices, and refreshments. Their entertainment varies from plays to music, and other entertainment. Check out their site.

Airline seats without the peanuts. Acceptable leg room, but seriously, I have to lean forward for the whole show because the seats aren’t wide enough for a packed house.

Da
Review №54

McCarter is a standard other theatres should aspire to. Quality entertainments regularly perform here. The seating is on the tight side if you are larger ( I am not but my friend is) and the concession prices reflect Princeton but that is expected and that is a reminder when you go. By all means go. It is the best venue in Central Jersey.

McCarter Theater is small enough in design to create an intimate atmosphere, yet seats a good-sized audience. It offers a wide range of programming, from plays to dance troupes to live music. Purchasing a subscription that you can build yourself from the coming years offerings makes tickets quite affordable. Ample parking is provided in a nearby Princeton University parking garage. In addition to an excellent restaurant and an upscale bar beautifully built into two old railroad buildings adjacent to McCarter, the theater offers light fare, wine, desserts, and other such items before and midway through many of the performances.

The earlier you arrive, the easier it will be to find nearby street parking which is easier than the lot.
