Wonderful park - lovely pond, several great, well maintained hiking trails, ample picnic spots, and large, widely spaced camp sites. Foliage was incredible and the park host was a delight. I had a fantastic visit and I cant wait to come back!

Lots of trails. Swimming, fishing and boat launch area. Toilets available and cleaned twice per day. Not all of the easier trails are in good shape. They are overgrown and uneven due to water run off. I cant imagine cross country skiing on these trails, especially with all the roots sticking up. A lot of snow ️ is going to need to fall in order to ski ️. Trail up the mountain actually has stairs until you reach a serious incline. My friend, Authur Itisis, who was grumbling on my hike, would yell at me attempting the climb. I actually passed a playground on my hike. The only nature I encountered was a red squirrel ️, that was building a nest. It came close to me. I dont know if it was saying or waiting for me toShove off. You dont need bug repellent, though two colorful dragonflies landed on me. Not many s.Friendly staff. Minimal cost to enter but bring cash. Plenty of parking. Trails are marked.Trails range from moderate to difficult.

It was very pleasant. Seemed pretty well maintained. Tenting spots were nice. Trails were well marked, though I would have liked a little better direction to where the south peak trail starts (hint: in the tent camping circle). Great hike!

Lovely either trail you take. Tip though when starting out your hike. If your not prepared for a decent steep hike i would suggest walking towards where people camp. Taking the south/notch trail is more scenic. The south trail is a long walk. If you take notch to north peak you run into much better views a place to sit and continuing to north peak is worth it. Remember take notch trail if u arent looking for a long hike to the south peak the north peak trail is as hard as it is going up as coming down. If your not sure of yourself do not go that way.

A very clean state park quite close to Rt. 1. So close in fact, you can hear the traffic throughout the night. For a “suburban” park, this one is quite nice. The staff is helpful and friendly, and they keep the place immaculate. Many trails to hike from strenuous to easy and some offering great views of the valley. The downside is that the campsites are very close together and noisy. Bring a tarp for screening and ear plugs to help with the noise and you’ll be set.

The views with fall colors turning are truly amazing! I’m here in early October and the trees are beautiful. The trails to the north and south peaks are no joke. When they say steep, they mean it. It doesn’t look like there’s a safe way down the south trail, so you should really plan to take the notch trail back down. I went up to the north peak, across to the south and then down the notch. Worth every step!

Aroostook SP has a small 30 site campground, a pretty little lake and several miles of hiking trails on and around Quaggy Jo Mountain. The campground is super clean, a few sites have power, there is a kitchen shelter with picnic table seating, a large sink and lots of counter space. The shower house has flush toilets, and a sink in each private shower room. The pit toilets in the campground are very clean with varnished wood walls and during covid-19 are cleaned twice daily. I have rarely seen such tidy outhouses. The camping sites are wooded, mixture of evergreen and deciduous trees and most are quite level. We have a small teardrop camper and could have fit into three quarters of the sites comfortably. There is a playground and walking to the lake is easy. The lake has grassy shores and picnic tables along it. All in all a great camping experience if you are looking for quiet and nature. Presque Isle is a 10-15 minute drive with a nice little IGA on RT 1 to stock up at or get ice. Aroostook Wildlife Refuge is not far away either but in June the biting insects are fierce. Lots of trails and mostly level.

This was a superlative state park on many levels, worthy of an overnight stay or day hike. Recent improvements include updates to allthe pit toilets, the addition of a covered pavilion that had a wood stove and a sink, and flush toilets and showers. It is very nice! This state park is small, Im not going to argue you that. Pretty easy to see it all in a day if you rush, two days if you take it easy. There is a trail system that marches up a two peaks connected by a ridge. The park pamphlet suggests that if you take the southern trail, to take it up rather than down. That is great advice! The southern trail goes up very steep, and there are several points where you must scramble up cliffs. Quite strenuous, moderately technical. I made it just fine with three kids aged 6, 8, 10. But then...This was not our first hike off the season either. If you are out of shape, dont take this route. Towards the top of the southern peak, the trail is not clearly marked and its easy to lose so beware. Theres a turn up the cliff face commonly missed. No worries, lots of people muss it and an new trail has been cut by hikers. At the top of the southern peak is a cell tower installation. Look northeast from the tower for a sign that reads south peak. The short trail from there will take you to an observation deck. Most of my pictures are from there. Its a good reward for the hard work.

This is a positively gorgeous park that has some of the friendliest staff in the business and offers a little bit of everything--hiking, water, camping, and whenever there isnt a pandemic happening they rent out canoes and kayaks for day use at very reasonable rates. Dont skimp on the bug spray.

Lovely park just south of Presque Isle. We hiked the loop from the parking lot to the North peak. Then to the South peak. And finally back to the parking lot. About 2 1/2 hours. Warning: the trailr from the south peak to the parking lot goes over a ledge. Be sure you are up to it. I did ok going down, would have really been winded going up. Also be careful if its wet. The ledge can get slippery. But the views are great. On the South peak you have to actually walk down the hill from the cel towers (I think on the west side) to get to where you can see out.

This is an excellent place to camp. Bathrooms, showers, and other facilities are recently renovated and clean. The campsite itself is grassy. It was easy finding firewood and the staff even dropped off a few free logs. The trails at each end are strenuous. They are short but go straight up the mountain, no switchbacks. Once you get up, I highly recommend seeing both peaks because its not a trail you want to go up again. There is a third trail between the two some that makes decent easier
