Definitely a well-designed trail mostly paved on the incline with railings and lots of benches. I enjoyed it so much that I did two laps!

I always love hiking Thumb Butte! It’s a fun trail, short yet challenging. Recommended for anyone visiting Prescott! It’s especially nice during sunset!

This is a nice uphill hike with a paved side and a dirt side. You can go up or down either way. Lots of places to rest and breathe fresh air.

Started hiking up the steep side of Thumb Butte then continued down a trail on the back side. Found a large area of vegetation that had been burned and was charred . Had a nice easy hike after climbing the front side of Thumb Butte. Had a biker and a few hikers pass by. Recommend this hike. There are handicapped accessible bathrooms. Ladies bathroom was clean, all but one toilet.

Extensive trail system, with great views and a good amount of shade. Quite busy, but you still find yourself alone for much of the time, especially if you leave the main summit trail.

Great area for hiking. Took trail 33 which is a couple of miles long with some steep sections but most of them paved. Paid parking in the National Forest service lot across the street. Beautiful area and on a weekday morning not at all crowded. Information on the hike is on the National Forest service website. There are a number of other hikes from the same starting point. Great spot

Awesome hike! Went up backside and down paved front side. CAUTION.....front paved side has ice sections and hard to traverse this time of year. Recommend longer forest trail side right now. Beautiful views at the top!

Short, steep, and beautiful hike just outside historic downtown Prescott. Dogs are welcomed on the trail on a leash. We made the trail into a loop, and kept left at the first junction and went up the paved trail, and came down the dirt trail. Excellent way to get your heart beating first thing in the morning!

Love to hike thumb butte, two trails to the top, one to the right as you cross the street. This one is a dirt trail but not quite as steep as the asphalt trail that has steep switchbacks. I go up the dirt trail to the right and down the asphalt switchbacks.

Best hike in Prescott if you want a short hike with great views and good cardio. 35 minutes for a speedy advanced hiker, perhaps 90 minutes if you like to stop and enjoy the vistas. :-)

Amazing views! At the beginning, if you take the path to the right, its a very gradual climb. If you go straight, its quite steep. We all loved it!

Nice hike. Great views. I found it fairly easy. My 65 year old husband found the trek up difficult. He is not a hiker. Very doable for anyone. I suggest taking the right trail up. This allows for spectacular views on way down. The path to the left is completely paved. Others have said there are stairs but there are not. Right path is more of a hiking path. Mainly dirt with a few rocks.

This place is always nice to come visit. Fairly often I just grab a sandwich and just come up to Thumb Butte to enjoy a lunch and the peace & quiet. Its nice to get in the woods and enjoy nature, and this place reminds me of Pennsylvania, rather than the daily life in the town of PV.
