My whole life I’ve been in love with Section A of the Billy Goat Trial, but I’ll be 67 years old soon and my days on Section A are winding down. Section C was a lovely discovery. I enjoyed watching the climbers on Carterock and the views of the river. It was a treat to see the sun strike the waterfall on Scott’s Run in Virginia.
Great short hiking trail. Not too difficult besides on rocky stream crossing. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
I’ve been comparing Maryland to Northern CA where I used to live and haven’t been fair enough Maryland. Not quite as many parks and trails, but I found a small slice of heaven in this short trail. Maryland is holding its own with this path. Majestic brown rushing water on one side and rocks one can picture our forefathers ambling by on the other. Be prepared to dodge some toddlers - but who can complain with the heartwarming scene of our youth being introduced to the nature they will come to hold dear as much as we do.
Great area. Can get extremely crowded on nice days. So if you want to do a little rock scampering or climbing or just take a hike and you want to still have people around then this is for you. Oi f you want a little time to yourself or you are looking for a spot to chill and not worry about someone coming up on you. This is not for you.. For those who are looking To enjoy Sativa Sunday its all good just keep off main paths due to kids and your all Good.
Pretty area. Trials are well marked and scenery is beutiful.
Easy hike with views of the river and Scotts run falls on the other side.
The trail is not clearly marked at a certain path, but overall it is a nice trail for beginners working their way to section A & B.
Accessible awesome natural views!
Its very fun to climb there.
A great place to hike and break away from the grind. The trails are marked and not super hard at all.
Easy to forget that youre so close to major a major city. Take heed of the warning signs, this hike can be tricky.
A good hike, though a bit difficult for the unfit. Nice scenery and just long enough to feel like a journey but short enough to fit into an afternoon.
Great hiking trail. Not for beginners.
Nice open, well established walking trail with opportunities to make it more challenging on the rocks or river bank
A perennial favorite. We come back here at any time of year
Fun trail near DC. It can be muddy and/or flooded after some rain.
