Went for the Real Pirates exhibit. It was so fascinating and awesome! I got the audio guide which added some additional information. Had a great time and took my time through the exhibit to read and see everything. I learned so much! Other people kind of breezed through...I think experiences are what you make of them. This was one of the best things Ive done in Portland.
In town for a wedding, wanted to take the kids someplace fun. Figured a place like the Portland Science Center would be a good idea. Said they had an exhibit about sharks, so we headed over. The price was pretty high for a place that doesnt have reciprocity but hey...Then we got in and realized the exhibit was all there was. It was interesting enough, but I gotta say its not very clear that thats really all there is there. Cant recommend it.Oh. Plus the parking is $5 an hour.
Lots of exhibits for kids and adults many of which are very hands on. Parking is a little problematic when its busy (and Ive only ever been here when its busy). There are also rotating, national exhibits which can be a lot of fun to check out, but they tend to come with a dramatic increase in ticket price. All in all, this is a great way to spend an afternoon when you find yourself visiting Portland, especially in the company of children.
Beautifully presented Titanic exhibit. Ticket was a little expensive but well worth it. I would say dont add the audio guide, it doesnt add much to the experience and was an extra 5 dollars. There is so much to read but it is still not to long about an hour and 45 min to leisurely enjoy a self guided experience.
Came during the Titanic Exhibit. It was super cool! It is neat how this building is built on a pier. It is nice and a fun place to visit.
We drove 2 hours to see specifically the robot zoo exhibit bc our 5 year old son loves robots and animals. We were incredibly disappointed. We spent $52 on admission, and there were a lot of pictures with descriptions to read, and some artifacts with description and things to look at but it was not as it was described in advertising. It would have been fine for about $10 to $20 total, but we very much regretted not going to the discovery museum instead with our $. I do not recommend unless u have $ to burn. If you are on a budget like us, and save up $ to go on a day trip dont go here.
We were very disappointed to find out, that after a two hour drive, this place wasnt an actual museum but rather a small building that hosts roving exhibits. So if you expected to see the Titanic exhibit, like I had, then hang out and see the other exhibits in the museum - you are mistaken. The Titanic exhibit was informative but not worth the price -$17.50/adult. And you can go through it as quick as you can read and walk- took us about 30 minutes.
A cool place, but a bit over priced. It cost us about $70 for our family of 4. There is one exhibit about the pirate ship, Whydah. While its a really cool exhibit, I was expecting some more science stuff, just not one exhibit. They should just change the name to Pirate History Muesum.
What a fun addition to the Portland waterfront. Changing exhibit, which tends to stay for an extended period of time. Typically family friendly and interactive & engaging.
The Titanic exhibition was amazing. I enjoyed having someone to relate to from the start and it helped me to know what really occurred on the frightful pass over the Atlantic. I survived.... even though I was 3rd class.I went home and watched the movie again... for about the 10th time but it meant so much more. Great exhibition but I think it is now over.
I cant afford to bring my family. How dare you charge that much for family entertainment Its an absolute rip off and you should be ashamed. 17.50, Give me a break. Think how many hours of work that is for a family of 5.
Im a single dad of 3. I busted my leg last summer. My kids want to go so bad and i have no choice but to say no we cant afford it. It breaks my heart all kids should be able to experience it. Im not making anymore donations to the Portland science center. I thought they were for equal chance for children
Decent science museum. But not a lot of artifacts or information, more interactive exhibits geared towards kids.
Nice display. We saw the sharks. Friendly staff. HORRIBLY OVERPRICED!
A bit on the pricey side, but fairly decent overall. I went to see the Titanic Exhibit which had a good amount of detail and information. It seemed a bit mess informative than previous exhibits there, but it was still fairly decent. As always, parking can be extremely difficult and pricey. You can pay as much as $25 to park in some of the private lots in the area. But if youre extremely lucky, you can find a parking spot at a meter. Otherwise, theres still $10 parking just down the street a few buildings.
This is a very pricey place. I brought my son to the the dinosaur exhibit when it was there and loved it. We went back for the pirate exhibit and were a little disappointed.
Kind of over priced for what you get, and all you get is a 300 year old pirate exhibit. Very interesting though but still very much misleading to the title science.
Looks like a great place to take the kids and I was super excited to plan a trip for this weekend until I saw the cost...its unfortunate that it would cost our small family of four $78 JUST to get in. Thats pretty ridiculous.
The Titanic exhibit was amazing. I would definitely go again.
Agreed with other ratings not worth the price for exhibit. Given the ship wreck interesting but the exhibit is meeh.
It made me think and feel about how it must of been for those on the Titanic.
Lots of fun for the kids. We saw the space exhibit and the robot zoo.
Overpriced, not interactive, not good for little kids, not a science center more of a museum, very small. $70 wasted.
Not terrible, but wildly overpriced. Should cut entrance fees by 50 to 75%.
We went to Portland on a day trip. We were very disappointed, The Science Center was very overpriced and not at all what we expected. We might give it another chance when the exhibit changes.
Expected science, got a historic tour of 300 year old pirates. This is a museum, not a Science center.
Went to Titanic Exhibit was really educational
Only mildly interesting. Kinda Lame and too expensive.
A good place for history
Over priced but our kids LOVED it
Dinosaur exhibit was amazing.
Dinosaurs came alive
Simply amazing
