Excellent performance space with all the modern amenities you could ask for. Nice view of the Tillicum bridge right from the front door. High quality theatrical productions.
I bought season tickets this year and Im so glad I did. It was a steal once taking into account the special events, deals and just cost per performance. Its my first year but Im loving it so far.
We had our work party here for the holidays. The food, staff, and beverages were awesome! Maybe one day when I have a bit more culture I come and watch an event and do fine wine and get eargasms from the music. Til then you will have to be ok with they have an amazing location for Portland Ah.......and excellent food and staff!
A very nice facility and cozy small theater . But stick em up at the bar as wine is 14 dollars a small glass.
Saw the Penal Colony tonight. Interesting venue, much easier to get to and from parking. A super important work to ingest, ponder, talk about. Not a pretty picture, but sometimes we need to see things that arent so pretty. Many facets to the work, but one it seemed so prophetic of the Nazis, among others.
Went to Madama Butterfly and absolutely loved the performance. This was our second performance that we saw with Portland Opera and well be back. Never thought I would be interested in opera but Im so glad we decided to take a chance and go.
We saw The Poets Shadow . It was wonderful. Phame Academy partnered wirh the Portland Opera to produce this wonderful opera. Thanks to all who wored so hard to give adults with disabilities this amazing opportunity to perform and show off their many talents.
Beautiful place. Professional shows!
Such an intimate venue for seeing opera!
I love Opera and Portland Opera is a Portland treasure. Besides excellent productions, they have classes, community outreach, outdoor performances and some outstanding recitals. The recent production of Faust was fabulous.
Love seeing operas there!
Excellent location; outstanding performances
Nice facility for a small production.
The Poets shadow was fantastic..
Excellent opera in the black box
Generally great shows. My only complaint.. the box office is only open M-F, 9-5 and they wont help with exchanges, etc. w/o 48 hour notice. There isnt even a way to contact them the night of the show. So if something comes up, youre stuck. In contrast, Portland Center Stage offers concierge service up until the last minute.. theyre MUCH more user-friendly. And if they cant swap you for another night, you may get a receipt for a tax-deductible donation.I suspect the revenue from an incremental customer or two, due to visibly better service, would easily pay for someone to answer the phone and deal with last minute changes...or consider the flip side.. the loss of revenue from frustrated customers that dont renew. it seems penny-wise and pound foolish.So.. 5 stars for production quality and experience vs. 1 star for customer service.. Im giving them 3 stars.
Beautiful venue, right by the bridge. Parking free, secure and available
Always a treat, first rate value
The Barber of Seville was Amazing
Excellent opera productions. Season usually includes a couple of classic operas as well as some contemporary ones that Ive really enjoyed.
Location and building are underwhelming.
Super fun venue, saw Christmas Carol which was delightful. Plentiful, convenient parking.
All great seats as their temporary space is an intimate square stage with seating on all 4 sides. Great cast & imaginitive staging with minimal props for A Christmas Srory.
A wonderful opera company. The company picks some great pieces to perform and the variety will give something for all tastes. In addition, they bring in some great talent from around the world.
Night view from the port is awesome
It was excellent!
I visited the radio station...
Employees were very rude and yelled at me while walking my dog. Would not visit and do not recommend to any of my friends. There are so many amazing places to visit in Portland and this simply isnt one of them. Try Portland Center Stage instead.
Fun time being there and having good vibes.
They did a great performance of A ChristmasCarol
Beautiful building and surroundings. Located on the east side bank of the Willamette River.
Loved the opera.
Wonderful company to work with. Beautiful space.
Beautiful building and friendly staff
Amazing shows
Alex Krob: Portland Opera did a heroic job with The Rakes Progress, dont get me wrong. But Stravinski (composer) and W H Auden and Chester Kallman (librettists) put together something really highbrow. The dissonance was challenging to my ears, the phrasing puzzled me, and I was completely baffled by the time signatures (Im sure they involved Pi). Somewhere I read that the music is inspired by Mozart, but I guess Im too much of a rube to be able to figure that out. Some of the audience foundn it too much, and the rows had thinned by the third act. I really liked the performance of David PIttsinger, whose singing of the role of Nick Shadow was the absolute opposite of the pits. The set, on loan from Glyndebourne, looked like 18th century engravings, and really impressed. Have to say, I felt equally educated as I did entertained.
The people driving in their van are rude and cutting people off.
The best!
Portland Opera, All Classical, and Friends of Chamber Music
Portland is so lucky!
Excellent !
Nice building and the party was fun
I wish they did more shows and have larger building. Seems like most of their larger shows at Keller
Good production
Great night out for a date!
