Adria was helpful and kind. I was very satisfied with the techniques she showed me. I will be visiting this studio again!

We rented the large studio room at Still Life for a recent event. The space is fantastic: light filled and very clean. The location is in close proximity to Downtown Portland and its many amenities, and there’s ample parking nearby. Adria was lovely to work with, and was accommodating our day-of logistics. The tables and chairs were easy to move around as we needed throughout the event. I’d definitely recommend this space for a networking event, workshop, or other small gathering.

Adria is patient and kind, not to mention hilarious. The studio is clean, bright, and inspiring. You wont find a better place to rent a studio, take a painting class, or get private lessons anywhere!

I had never taken art lessons, considering my tried and true business background. Yet, the stress of owning a business needs to be balanced by fun things to do. So I decided to go with some friends to Still Life Studio, where Adria Moynihan Rusk teaches. What a fabulous experience! Adria is a patient and talented instructor who can make you feel accomplished even when you feel like youre looking at the work of your emerging 5-year-old. It was really fun, even for a left brainer like me. And my more talented friends were happy with Adrias ability to take them further down their own roads of accomplishment. Now, Ive gone back three times! So much fun!

A workshop with Adria is a terrific way to spend an afternoon! She clearly wants her students to have fun and let go - but you will learn a lot about color and technique in the process. Her teaching style falls in the lovely area between rigidly technical and excessively casual. You will leave relaxed and satisfied with your work.

Still Life Studio is a gem! Group workshops here have been just what Ive needed to get back in touch with my creative side. While I loved my art classes in high school and college, and consider myself a creative person, the busy-ness of life and the overwhelm of a blank canvas or sketchbook have gotten in the way. Every class or workshop I have taken at Still Life Studio has left me feeling refreshed and inspired. I have taken workshops on painting the still life, portraits, and tiny paintings with the owner, Adria, who is excellent at meeting each student where they are and supportively guiding them through new techniques. Ive also loved workshops taught by guest artists - abstract landscape painting and gelatin printmaking - both were fantastic. Ive taken workshops alongside professional artists and first-timers, and everyone has had a great time. I love the emphasis on the creative process itself, and the joy of making in community with others. The space itself is a perfect balance of providing the inspiration of being in the studio space of working artists, while feeling totally accessible and comfortable to newcomers. Parking is a breeze, and I love supporting a woman-owned small business and other local artists! Im always watching the newsletter to see what classes are coming up and cant wait to keep trying new things. Planning on going to some open studio times this summer to keep the creative juices flowing!

A great studio to teach at! The classroom space is lovely, with lots of windows to bring in tons of light. Adria is very helpful, making sure I have everything I needed to teach my workshops and being an extra hand if I need it. Will be teaching there again, and encourage anyone to take a class here!
