I was in the market for my first drum carder and Casey went above and beyond. I had a million questions and I left with all of them answered and a new drum carder!!! I am beyond grateful and excited to start my new fiber journey! Don’t hesitate to come here, they have pretty much anything you can think of and if they don’t have it I’m sure they can order it for you.
I have followed the shop for years on instagram. Since I was in Portland for business, I decided to see the place in real life. There is a great selection of unique blends of hand dyed fiber. They also have a great selection of cashmere yarn. And of course, an amazing yarn store dog!
Ive been going to PortFiber every week, you guys. You know why? Because Casey rents spinning wheels and Im on track to try all of them! This is a weird (quarantine-y) time for all shop owners, but Caseys got it dialed in. She and her giant pooch allow 5 people in at a time - with masks please - and the hardest part is not touching everything in the place. So. Much. Fiber. And its all so soft and beautiful.... Ill be back next week!
Terrible customer service. I emailed with questions about a gift certificate I received, asking if there was an alternate way I could use it as I live too far away from the store. I understand that this could be impossible as it is a paper gift certificate, but I never got a response. Even a sorry, you can only use it in the store would have sufficed, but they didnt even have the courtesy of that. With the technology that everyone has today, returning emails takes less than a minute. So Id say they just want a way to keep the money from the gift certificate without losing any inventory. An easy way to get a free $50. What a dishonest business model.
I am a fiber artist who makes a lot of dryer balls. One of my farms gave me a lot of roving that, although it had been cleaned, had not been carded. A friend recommended I call Portland Fiber to see if I could get some idea of what to do with my roving to get it where I could use it. Casey is fantastic and the shop is a fiber artists heaven. For a nominal fee, I am able to use the drum carder to card the roving I have. The staff is so nice and helpful and the amount of fiber is amazing.
PortFiber is an inspiring, welcoming shop and the owner is an outstanding human. Im barely crafty and I still want to make All The Things when I go in here. And with the help of Casey or another instructor or class, I bet I even could! Gorgeous materials. Highest recommendation!
Great people hear selection very helpful
Best fibers around!
Casey is a ray of sunshine and a wealth of knowledge. took her spinning 101 class im so hooked she did and amazing job teaching. i later bout a drop spindle from the shop to be able to keep spinning and plan to purchase my wheel as soon as the budget allows. i would recommend port fiber and Casey very highly there is only 5 stars or i would give her more for sure.
Love fiber arts? Want to learn more? Port Fiber is a store, a gallery, a classroom. From spindles to looms to needle felting kits to multi-day classes, theres a little (or a lot) of something for everyone!
Writing this review for my wife: Very friendly and informative staff with an excellent selection of all sorts of fibers in all sorts of forms. Very well priced.
I wanted to start needle felting as a brand new hobby! A friend of mine needle felts and she recommended this place to me. Im not one to normally ask for help, but I had to since I had no idea where to start. They were great help! I believe it was ashley that helped me. It was a few days ago, so Im not completely sure. Thanks for being such great help!
Casey brings her passion to life at Port fiber. She has a wide selection of materials for purchase as well as space and equipment.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, nice selection.
