Intimate. Strong selection of poetry collections, novels, LPs and zines. Highly recommend supporting them as they support artists.
Favorite portland gallery! Also great book store & place to buy art, presents & gifts for creatives, ceramic bookends & wire sculpture home decor, vinyl & cassettes, French soaps & snacks & candy like fruity carambar!
I love this gallery, I have followed May’s curatorial effort since she was in the tiny space on SE 28th & Burnside. She has introduced me to a wide array of Portlands artists, and I am so inspired by her gallery’s evolution. Any opening promises life and perspective-altering experiences whether it be a performance, film, lecture, or work exhibited in the gallery. I especially appreciate that gallery openings are generally now on a Sunday afternoon and kid-friendly, making them much more accessible and fending off any real art snobbery that might intimidate an on-looker. May was absolutely one of the pioneers of present-day Portland’s appeal and I am ever so thankful Nationale has found a home base. I will follow this project wherever it goes.
Small but interesting place in which to stop. In addition to an artist on exhibit, NATIONALE has a nicely curated selection of books and independent publishers publications.
This gallery is very supportive of artists and displays innovative compositions. Its a must see in Portland.
My favorite spot on divison. Beautifully curated and May makes everything special without any pretentiousness. La crème de la crème.
One of the worthwhile needles in the rubbish haystack of cookie-cutter devo of Neue Divisionstrasse.
Yum.
