My wife and I just took the intro to bead making class, and had a blast! The instructor was fun, informative, and helpful. We did not get treated like kindergartners, as suggested by other reviewers. The really cool thing is that the class is also your membership to the studio and allows you to use the space for personal projects outside of class time. You also get a discount on supplies and the ability to buy in smaller quantities than usual retail. We look forward to taking other classes.
Ive taken several lamp working classes here and go in my free time to use the space. Laid back environment, helpful staff. I never fail to get a great tip from Scott while Im there. Theyve got several kilns so we torchworkers can work soft or hard at the same time so as not to hog all the space. Plenty of torches and they sell glass rod as well, which makes my life easy when I run out of something vital. They have tools and glasses and anything else youd need. Great studio.
I rather understand the person who said the intro class was not so great. But...I am looking forward to taking another class that is more in depth. The intro class...about thirty minutes of actual instruction...just gives you the ability to stack some glass scrap left from some real projects for a few hours. They stop by every fifteen minutes or add so and give weak pointers. Heres a hint though. There are hours and hours of online instruction and the intro class gives you access to the studio. Dont let the bad review deter you. Just go for the adventure.
This place great! Its a real treasure to have studio stocked with so many fusing and lampworking supplys. And a full studio to work in with friendly people. Its the place to go if you wanna melt some glass or just need a couple things to finish a project.
