I will say, place on the outside due to property management (not monkey kings responsibly) looks not that good. But once you get in its very nice monkey king keeps place clean. Tables not sticky, floor clean, play structure clean. Decent priced food. My almost 2yo had a blast and being a 250lbs adult was able to play with him. So play place is well built and well constructed. Well thought out. Will visit in future.
This place is great on a cold or raining day! My son loves it! They have added a few new little things here and there, it’s always clean and staff is friendly, the food is actually pretty good, a little pricey, but worth the energy my 5 year old expels here and not in destroying his room and everything else in our apt!
This place was amazing! I took my 2 year old (almost 3) on a weekday morning and he had so much fun. There was only 4 other kids there that day, which made it easy for my toddler to get comfortable. They have a small toddler area for him but in all honesty he was able to go around the whole play area with no problem. I love that they allowed me to go up with him and show him around. The play house is bigger than what the pictures online show, which I thought was great. The staff was really nice and helpful. They charge $10 during the weekday
Cool place for the kids. A little dirty but that is to be expected. Good price for the kids to have some fun, and burn energy, while they are away from electronics. The food was horrible, I think they just microwaved my grilled cheese sandwich. They did not put on the tomatoes. I got a bowl full of tiny little overcooked French fries. All that said, we will be going back. And will probably order food.
Did my nephews birthday here. Private room was nice, great place for the adults to escape to and for privacy for the cake. Kids loved it, staff was helpful and checked in regularly
I used to love this place. Last time I was here, it was $8 and a lot more comfortable seating available. Now it’s $12 and there’s two couches put together, providing basically a bench that seats 6. So three adults are taking over all of them and I’m forced to sit in a small, hard chair. As a parent, I certainly don’t want to sit in this chair while my kids play. I’d rather spend my money where I can either join in or at least sit comfortably.
I think this is a great place for your kid to be a kid. Play, laugh, and have fun kid style. If you are looking for great food here, you most likely dont know what are the right places for great food. FYI its not at a kids jungle gym. However if your hungry...food is good no matter how you spin it. Enjoy the smiles on your kids face, and yes have a drink...because you did it. If nothing else went right in your day, well at least you brought your kid to a play structure they can have fun in come rain or shine! Soak up the joyful moments, and you can find many of those with your kid here!
Its cleaner, quieter, and less chaotic than the one downtown. I really enjoyed the unpretentious environment. My little one spent close to 3 hours there making new friends. Its worth the drive...and dont be worried about the sound of gunfire in the parking lot. Theres a proper shooting range/gun club a couple blocks away.
Much improved since last time I was there. Bigger and nicer, with more food choices. I just wish the play areas were tall enough for me to play with my grandson without having to crawl on my tired old knees. He had a blast.
This place is amazing! The only drawback for us is that our son [2 years old] doesnt stay long. The admission is a little too expensive if you only get an hour and a half of playing outta your kid before hes just too tired to continue. If the pricing had an age bracket for the younger kids wed be at this place constantly. Well still certainly come and play, I just wish we could do it more often! Monkey King is the best!
If youre in desperate need for entertainment for your child... where you know theyll be safe and you can have a few minutes for yourself to unwind... this is the place. The children are monitored by parents and staff alike so theres no bullying and most of the children are fairly well-behaved.On the downside the initial cost on Saturday of $12 to get in is high...and the cost of food is pretty high considering the quality. The friendliness of the staff is questionable... some employees are very friendly others are right down rude... and I have yet to go there and find any of the tables I set at clean. It is the only child activity in Gresham so I am here every Saturday and gratefully wash off my own table.
Its s like dirty and the food is mediocre and not only that but forced us to wear socks which I think is a dumb rule. I get it its for safety but ...
Excellent place for kids and adults to run around with your kids. Super friendly staff and lots of seating
My kids love it here and they are so nice, they also have ping pong and air hockey so a little fun for parents while kids are playing.
Fantastic play place. Easy enough to follow young kids around and they have a blast. Teeny bit pricy but overall worth it
Good customer service and a great place for the kids to have fun.thx thx for everything u too.
Great place for kids, would compare it to the old school SuperPlays just on a smaller scale. Their food is actually extremely good. Like really good bar food lol. I looove and highly recommend this place to anyone with a 2-10 year old!
Its a great place for kids to burn some energy....its fun! Only thing i really hate is that i cant take my own drinks including coffee. There coffee sucks... the tastes is horrible, milk is burnt....food is a little bit overpriced. On holidays or non school days they charge more. I dont know why the prices have to change smh on non school days vs school days. I do like that parents can go play with there kids.
Good prices, clean, lots of seating, and good food and drink selection. I went early on a weekday with my 2yr old and helped her through the structure with ease and I am not a small adult so thankful for the set-up. Once other kids showed up, she was able to do the course independently. I plan on going back tomorrow afternoon when my 8yr old gets home because I think he would find it fun too.
My 18 month old toddler looooooooves this place. I do have to go in and follow him because it can be trickier for little littles to navigate going through the structures. We went right as they opened on a Tuesday and we had the whole place to ourselves which was kind of cool because my guy could just go nuts but I was hoping to get him opportunities to socialize with other kids so we will have to go back at a busier time maybe.
We frequent this place often. Our kids, four-year-old and two-year-old, always have a great time. Theyve recently added massage chairs that take a credit card for the parents.
I have a respectful suggestion that you allow if not all day re-entry, then at least re-entry within a few hours. My toddler loves your facility, but his nap time varies widely from day to day, and I am not going to waste money for admission (or even chance it) if he might be there for all of a half hour and then have a meltdown halfway through because hes tired. Your competitors, both Nest Playground and The Wiggle Room, allow for all-day re-entry because they know their audience. Monkey King is the closest to my home and has the biggest play structure, so it would be my preferred facility otherwise.
The monkey king has a large closed off play area with to Lairs the top lair can be Accessed from several different points on the bottom lair. Only one entrance and exit to the closed off play area. Both opening and exit doors are located right next to each Towards the front of the building. There is a section for smaller children to play in. And Parents are welcome to assist their children inside the play structure if needed. They have an area where you could order food and Drink. The food is Delicious. They recently raised their prices so now I think its $10 per kid. Which can get kind of pricey if you have more than one. Around the holidays they have a price hike. I do not know the holiday price off the top of my head. I believe they also raise the prices during summer. They have bathrooms in the back of the building. The main bathrooms for men and women do not have changing tables. But there is a separate bathroom right next to the womens restroom that has a changing table in their.
They raise the prices for entry on days when school is out which I think is incredibly lame so I avoid those days. Otherwise its a good indoor play place. I wish the food and drink was better/had better options!
A fairly large play area. This location has sofas and chairs and made for a comfortable place to visit while kids were playing. Only one entryway so felt comfortable. Food service was okay but not great.
A little spendy but a good place to take kids to get energy out!
My grandkids cant get enough of this place!
Kids not being parented and bullying other smaller children.
Good service, clean, the kids love it. Nice icecream selections. It wasnt a good hotdog day today. They were old and shriveled. I wish they had some video games for the adults. All in all the kids love it we will definitely be back.
Extremely awful and disrespectful owner that doesn’t know how to treat his customers. Moreover it’s such an unsanitary and disgusting place with filthy tables. There was an empty beer bottle on our table that wasn’t cleaned after the last customers. It’s not sanitary and safe place for kids. Don’t take your kids there!
Nice large play area with strangely strict rules for bringing in outside beverages (including water).
I really enjoy taking my four year old to play there. Plus during these got days the kiddos her free ice cream
Great place for kids 2+ y/o
Kids like it but its DIRTY! When you ask the staff to clean the table or inform them of a spill they glare and are unhappy.
They got beer and ice cream. What else is there?? Oh, and there is a play structure for kids.
My daughter loves it, its cheap and right across the street from my apartment. Lots of fun stuff for children to play on.
I never really been in there but I walked by countless number of times and it always looked like it had life seems like a good place to take your kids to have fun
Kids loved it. So thats good enough for me!
Pricy but if you have the money great place for adults and kids. Who needs a gym haha
This place is fun for older kids. My 3 year old had fun, but for my 18 month old it was a little advanced. She couldnt climb everywhere by herself, she needed help because some steps where too high for her. They have a toddler area, but she got bored there too fast.So for older kids its a fun place to climb around and i love that this place has a huge variety of different things to do. And its a pretty big play area! Not so much for toddlers, unless u go there with them. We have been to other places where my 18 month old had no problem running around and climbing everywhere, but this place was a little though for her.Other than that it was great! I loved that they had only one entrance, so i knew that once my kids go in the play area they wont be able to leave it unless they come to that entrance. I had a table by the entrance to the play area and was able to watch my kids with no problem.Food was good and i loved that they had a veriaty here vs other places.Staff where pleasant and very attentive.
Hosted a birthday party here. Very good service with attentive staff. We will definitely do a birthday here again. Play for the kids is unlimited, which is a plus. Some places only let the kids play during the party. In fact I have been here over three hours as I write this review and my son won’t let me leave!
Great place for kids to burn off some energy!
My kids loved this place and always have a great time. I agree w/other reviews mentioning the staff could be friendlier and more attentive. Maybe theyre understaffed? Service for food/drinks is extremely slow. Rules arent enforced, so I go in w/my kids to keep an eye on them (although I realize more parents dont). Need barrier to block kids from running out the front door or into kitchen area.
This is the place to be and pretty affordable too. Its a safe space and your kids cant get hurt and they have a lot corners for kids to go through. Theres different types of slides in the indoor play pen. They have snacks and pizza if you want to eat and relax while the kids burn some of their energy.
The play structure is massive with many sections and different obstacles to navigate. Its a great way to get kids active on cold rainy days. The downsides are the price and that many of the kids are pretty well unsupervised in the structure. The best way around it is to occasionally walk around to check on your kids and stay as long as you can to get the best value; eat beforehand and bring drinks and snacks.
Awesome place for the kiddos. My familys first time here and we will be back. Nice and clean. Great prices on food.
Good place for kids to play but terrible service for birthday parties. Very overpriced, very warm in the room and loud. Tiny pizzas that are too expensive and room is depressing and falling apart. Found much better service at Johns Incredible Pizza for birthday rooms.
Not the newest or fanciest play place in Portland, but clean in pretty good shape. The kids loved it. The food nothing exceptional but was pretty good. The staff were very friendly. Overall a great visit.
Great place! Wish I would have started coming here a long time ago. The lady who works here is super sweet and has a way with kids! My son really likes her. The food is great and really well priced. We will be back! I also feel like this place is VERY clean.
Cool place to take your kids. Cant really say that i approve of them serving alcohol to parents who will have to drive their kids home.#DontDrink&Drive
It was fun a little expensive but my Grandson had a good time!! I just wish more parents watch their children to not be mean to others.
This place is great for kids under 7. The slides are fast, lots of climbing for kids, and great fries! Dress warm, its always cold.
I had a party there ...... will never visit the place again! The man running it which I think is the owner was so rude and disrespectful, he actually told one of my guests that her child could not eat unless she added her to the list of kids, (they charge per child) the baby was asleep and under two years of age he actually sat down at a table and watched her for a half hr! The food was ok but the staff was great that’s the only great thing about this place .
I really like this place because it was a good choice for my daughter! They have really good pizza plus a clean monkey play house! The owner here was very nice & you can tell he tried his best to help out around & even serve. He went out of his way to help us. He DID HIS ABSOLUTE BEST to show his staff how to properly handle stuff. I just felt so conflicted because the main person, the girl who took our order had a VERY poor attitude! Demeanor was very off & she was very immature. The moment we walked in, she just kept giving us really uncomfortable looks & when asked a question, seemed so lazy to respond. I never in my life saw someone huff & puff the way she did. It was hard seeing her be that way & even witnessed her throwing her tantrum towards the owner in front of another customer. I was trying to think to myself well may be she’s having a bad day? But even in front of myself & others, she would get frustrated & act out in her frustration. I would come here again but the main person made us feel very uncomfortable. If you are at work, be professional.... Leave the tantrums at home.
My grandsons love this place. They have lots of energy and this is the place to burn it off.
Such a fun place for the kids. Reasonably prices for hours of fun! We were there for 4 hours (only planned on being there for 2) but time flies when youre having fun!
This is a kids Paradise. Endless fun. Its clean and reasonably priced. Ill be back with my granddaughter
Too expensive for playground but overall not bad
Love the play area, but it needs to be cleaned more. To have a birthday party there is WAY too expensive. We paid $99 for a hideously lit room just to keep us away from guests while we enjoyed cake and Ice cream as to not be disturbing. Then they charged $10 per kid who attended the party on top of it!! The fee did not include anything but the unimpressive room. The kids had fun thankfully... and that is what was most important, but there is no way I am ever doing a party there again.
Its not perfect and some of the equipment needs a bit of updating.ButMy 5 year old daughter loves it, and never wants to leave. My 1.5 year old son loves it. Its fun, its crazy. They sell coffee and beer and pizza and not at crazy inflated prices. And sometimes thats all you need.
They are accommodating. I brought an outside Frappuccino and I was able to put the contents in one of their cups as a courtesy, which I appreciated. So, this place has come a long ways since it’s opening. It is larger and the play structure is now bigger. They have a new American Ninja Warrior type of training area. My 9 year old daughter was happy to see it.I live 3 blocks away from PDX Playdate and my daughter wants to come here, ugh. I don’t like the drive, but it’s worth it when I see my child being active and smiling. They have free WiFi, and I am here on a Saturday and it cost $12 to play — I think the $12 is for all day admission.
Their food prices are ridiculously over priced!!! Better go to Chuck e cheese
HORRIBLE customer service! TERRIBLE treatment by AWFUL workers! The kids love playing here, but I can’t stand it because the employees are always so rude! I wish management would clean house.
They charged me $12 dollars on Monday. Their website announced $10 dollars Monday to Thursday but they charge me the price of weekend.
Very busy on a Saturday. It’s a fun place but too crowded, very loud. Got a Cobb salad I could barley eat and didn’t even get my water I asked for. Eh it’s ok just over priced food that I’d recommend eating somewhere else
Good place for the kids expensive food and beer they need games and more play area more televisions so they can be seen from every angle other than that very nice experience great for the kids just needs more
Would be 5 stars but there is no readmission. Wippersnappers in sandy and playpdx are both very similarly priced but do allow readmission, so it’s frustrating that they don’t allow readmission here.
Ha! Went to the play house in Sandy on a snow day, even though the roads were clear they were CLOSED. Drove all the way back to the Monkey King and the kids had a blast! Running, jumping and squealing with joy! I dont like the smell of whatever they cook, but no matter. Its closer and saves me a lot of time.
Cons: Very pricey, staff seems treated poorly by mgmt, no outside food/drink allowed (even water) Pros: Good exercise for kids, can see inside play area for 80% of it from outside, clean and sturdy play area, alcoholic beverages and food available for purchase
The worst customer service Ive ever had in my entire life! The owner was very unprofessional and didnt have capacity to deal with the public at all! We had a party there for a 2 yearold(paid, and with a deposit), and were barked at like we were infringing on his time. Half the place was closed and under construction. The place had no ventilation and none of this was noted on the websites, or when the reservation were made. Otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. The pizza was gross. Just an ugly atmosphere. I would highly suggest not taking any of your business there. We will never again go back there . Chuck E Cheese...is fifty times better.
Not always for small children as older kids can be pretty rough and parents are enforcers of rules not staff. If you have older, tough kids than they will have a great time.
Love this place, needs more workers
Super great place to take the kids on a rainy day. Like PDX playdate in deep SE.
My son and niece love this place! Never had a negative expirience. They recently expanded the play area and the kids had a blast!
Great for kids. Mine love it food isnt too bad for frozen and deep fried. They need to clean their soda machines you can taste the mold...other than that its a great place to just let the kids run and play.
Just had my daughters birthday party here and they were really great.
This place is awesome. My kids loved it. It is like a huge indoor caged obstacle course for kids. The owners are really nice. There is food and drinks. The atmosphere is super casual and fun. Definitely on the repeat list.
This place is bigger than it looks. It is a little worse for wear and could uses some TLC. Theres a high $ required minimum for the use of cards. So if youre only planning to pay the entry fee youll need cash. Overall it is a good place for the little ones, just not our 1st choice.
Having a daughter with autism this place is truly amazing to play with her next to her while she getsto play with other children everything is soft play equipment all padded even the slides!!! I love this place and the owner is very patient and clearly loves children and a martial arts expert.
A very fun place for kids. Jungle themed 2 (child sized) story playground with obstacles and slides all over the place. However, the woman who works here is one of the worst employees Ive ever seen anywhere.Slow, rude, will ignore you while looking at you.Honestly, the only reason I bothered with her is because the kids were having fun.
Great place to take the kids! Been here several times, and the play area has always been clean. I know because I usually go in and play around myself for a while. Ive also done birthdays there for my daughter, and the staff does a good job of taking care of everything. They provide food and drinks, all of which were pretty good. Only reason it doesnt get five stars is because its a little pricey for a family on a tight budget. But if you can handle the cost, Id recommend it any day.
Very good customer service. I love their pepperoni pizza.
Used to be better. Lost their soda fountain. Drinks without ice from 2 liters. More expensive then I remember, especially on weekends.Kids still love it though. No bad things to say about the playground.
Super fun place for kids to play. Nice size with lots of mazes and options for hours of fun. My child begs to go back at least once a week.
My daughters and I absolutely love this place. Great staff, great service and very affordable. Great place to tire out the kids!
Great place for the kids. Great food and drinks.
Ive been taking my kids since it openedThe owner and staff have always been very sweet n kept it very clean. ( Wich is hard to do with little people) I highly recommend a visit or bday party here its really reasonably peiced.
Had my daughters party here and it was a great place food isnt so great though
I loved playing here. Until I found the roundup in the back hallway. There is a jug and spray bottle sitting in the back past the bathroom, totally accessible to the kids. The playing is good. The extremely dangerous carcinogens open to the children are bad.Hope its not there next time or Im not coming back.
So much fun my 5 yr old loved it.
This place was awesome for kids and big kids who refuse to grow old.
