This place is one of my favorite place to go hang out and relax. There are great staff and good people that go there. The staff is always willing to help you out and great food and very safe place for everyone..

I went one night and it was dead, but I bought a membership because I figured Id go mote then once. Tonight, after working three jobs all December, I finally had time and money to go out... And the cover was $75!!!Im new to Portland. I dont know anyone, but I used to go to similar clubs in SF, and it was only $75 on super special nights. This was Jan 3rd. Its not like I can get in cheaper if I go with someone because the only person I know is my ex who was watching our child so that I could go.Id even be okay if the price was clearly advertised, but its not. I looked at the website before going and cover was _not_ displayed prominently.

Ill start by saying that there was lady working there that was very nice but the place is dated and there is very little action and for a $100 they shouldnt have a problem with rentry

This is a 1st class social club. I have hung out and met the nicest and most interesting people here. The staff is always walking around and making sure people are feeling welcome and comfortable. The food is the best here, especially the fresh chocolate chip cookies. I go hang out in the inside hot tub and make new friends. I will always be back!

I was hosted by my GF on Kink Nite and it was an amazing experience! The people who own and operate the establishment and all who work therein are amazing and fun people. The experiences inside will be galvanized into my brain. Going again Tonight!

The people were extremely friendly. I felt comfortable and informed the whole time I was there. So much fun. There were plenty of lockers to put my belongings in, two bars with very kind bartenders, a smoking area. Oodles of beds, both private and open. Kink night was going on too, so we got to have a few tastings and several very nice shows. Skip the strip clubs, just come here. The entry fee was only 40 for my wife and I.

Been twice in 2019, both on weekend nights. Once was really great, once was not.Environment:* It appears clean* The other similar local club has the “upscale” reputation, and while that place looks more like a dance club and this place looks more like a dive bar or strip club, they’re kind of on the same level in my opinion: both cheesy, but in different ways.* Lots of play spaces, but they’re smaller and some feel a bit hidden. I don’t mind this.* People tend to make fun of the idea of a hot tub in a club like this, but the indoor tub appears clean and they’re very strict about the rules for use so it stays that way. It smells like a hot tub right when you walk in, though, which isn’t great.* One major negative was the second time we visited and the entire upstairs smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Not sure if it was a ventilation issue, or guests who smelled strongly of cigarettes?Clientele* The first time there was a great mix of folks and levels of attractiveness. It felt comfortable and non-judgmental. We met some awesome people and really enjoyed ourselves! Way better than expected, less clique-ish and more friendly than another local similar club, and no one aside from one of the aforementioned staff members made me feel uncomfortable.* The second time was bad. It was really disappointing. We are generally attracted to a range of people in terms of age, style, and body size/type. But even with that flexibility, I think there were maybe 2 people in the entire place who we considered attractive, and they were already coupled. Most of the crowd this time were significantly older (out of our range by a lot), and most people were poorly dressed and just looked... trashy. People I wouldn’t want to have a casual conversation with in a regular bar, let alone get sexy with or in front of. We ended up leaving REALLY quickly because it was honestly pretty uncomfortable and seemed like it would be a waste of time if we stayed.Staff:I have felt personally uncomfortable with some of the staff who function in the role of doing tours and walking around to ensure the rules are followed (not sure what to call them). They need better boundaries. An example:The first time we went, one of the staff who was working when we arrived, ended up sitting on the couch next to us, and was flirting with someone in our party. He told us that his shift ended, therefore he’s allowed to stay in the building as a guest and participate in the activities with other guests. Perhaps this is standard practice in all the similar clubs, but to me it felt creepy.There was another example involving another staff member, but it requires a bit much detail to adequately explain in a review.No complaints about front desk staff or bartenders - they were good.SummaryThere isn’t any way to control what population may end up visiting on any given night, and the crowd we found unappealing is surely appealing to a lot of others. This is a gamble you’ll have to take, but we don’t plan to return.

OMG!!!!Saturday night at The Velvet Rope was a bang out!!!!Kink night was so exciting. Lots of tastings going on. Entire club was full of high energy. I ended up meeting somebody there. And we both had a fantastic time. Plan on going back for more fun!Oh! That bartender Hydra! She is a cutie!

The Velvet Rope is a great place to go hang out and socialize with friends. And to make new friends. I have been in and out of this establishment since my mid 20s. I am now 49. I did not become a regular until recently. So, I have seen many changes to the club. The owners have done very well at getting this place turned around and looking good. The volunteer staff thru out the club are fantastic. Always looking out for the customers. One thing that is good about their floor staff. They keep safety at priority. With people consuming alcohol at the club. There is a very good monitoring system thru the volunteers to keep tabs on problem situations. Also the safety reaches out to everybody. If any type of no consent arises. The staff is quick to address that.

The wife and I just got back from this club and are sorry we went to begin with. Were trying to find new places to explore and this place left us feeling wanting. Honestly the website is much nicer than the facility in general. The claim to be the most prestigious lifestyles Club is sorely lacking. My wife felt unsafe in a lot of respects due to some of the clientele, maybe if the establishment would limit the amount of single men at the club would make things a little better. As far as the food goes for the price of Entry the food could have been much better most of the food that we experienced was overcooked and tasteless. The staff however where very kind and friendly and I would give them 4 stars. Hate to say it but Im not sure why this place has such a high rating.

I soooo LOVE this place. I should have just stayed there all weekend without leaving. I was there Friday for Fantasy Friday. Went back for KINK night on Saturday and met a sweet little boy to take care of my needs. Then I found out they were doing sybian Sunday. So, I went back Sunday and tried out the sybian. OMFG!!! I need one of those at home. I am already lining up my schedule to visit more.Love The Velvet Rope!!!!!Staff is friendly and very helpful.

I wish I could give this place a better rating. I have been here numerious times and have never left feeling fulfilled. The first time at this club I drank water from the jugs placed around the club, little did I know at the time they were drugged, my friends and I left to start feeling the effects mid way home and having g the worst hangover of our lives having only drank water. When I contacted management they said it couldnt have been anything from their facility. I stuck to bottled water for all future visits and was fine.The number one reason I dont frequent this establishment is due to the o erwhelming number of smokers, the outdoor hot tub is in the smoking section, which I cant handle. As well as the client base that frequent. Asside from some friend Hangouts it is overly akward and most of the friendly people I do meet are off duty staff... Kinda wish the place didnt look like it was held together with duct tape too. I hope this place fixes some things up, in the meantime I will visit on occasion but noty frequent spot.

Nice yet outdated building. Not anywhere near the quality and class of Portlands other swingers lifestyle club that closed due to regulatory problems last year, Sesso. About half the people there were very masculine cross dressers. No kidding. its a cross dresser hang-out. Most of the rest were, really out off shape taking no pride in their bodies whatsoever and that is not sexy or makes for a sexy environment. They charge $60 per couple at the door and have no cap on single males entering! If you want to pay $60 for a freak show the go enjoy it but if your a sexy couple looking for sexy people to play with you are going to be very disappointed as we were. We were warned but decided to look anyway. Wasted time and off to a strip club to have fun finally.

Is it fishy that the 2 people writing snooty, 1 star reviews are comparing this place to a swingers club that doesnt exist anymore? The owner seems like he just opened this place to make money... Why the hell else would anyone open a business?But I digress. Ive been coming here off and on for a couple years and the best way to describe this place is an ongoing house party that specializes in keeping it weird. The varied crowd of people from different walks of life make for a good mix. Very laid back atmosphere.The scene can be pretty wild depending on what kind of thing youre in to. Kink, swinger, nonbinary/trans play, especially on nights geared towards specific things.Ive met super awesome, beautiful singles and couples here. The douchebag singles and couples Ive met tend never to come back (which is JUST fine.)Dont knock it till you try it is a good piece of advice. My experience is always what I make it here.Potential downsides: this is not a dive bar-drink prices are like downtown club prices. Sometimes they run out of sheets.

My home away from home

I honestly am not even going to give any supporting evidence, besides my side note below; to truly instill the true gratitude I felt upon finding this club, but I want you all to understand just how easygoing and accepting this place was even though I wasnt 100% gung-ho they made the visit thoroughly enjoyable -for the most part. They offered me a discount as well as being able to be up close with the owners, who also mans the 2nd floor bar, which gave me a sense of transparency and security. I cant honestly review them for their staffs choice of conduct and handlings of certain situations and such simply because they have a purely non-profit staff (volunteers) and organization, which is an interesting approach. This place has gone down hill to the type of customers they now cater to... Meaning that over the last few years it is less and less desireable to want to even go to... Fewer people are there anymore and the ones who are usually dont even want to hook up it is like they go just to watch others... Most people seem to be heading over to club Private which seems to be more of higher class eastishment ... Now at the The Down status area is for couples only no singles allowed which would be nice if they would inform you of this change at the door instead of when one is looking for there spouse and be rude about it as well.... No plans to venture back there any time soon for sure......

This is a great place for the bold, shy, swing, and kink alike. Private and public play rooms, two large hottubs, free pool tables, a full bar, and great pricing are just a few of the many things that await you. A dungeon, dance floor, hard points, and a variety of events each month will insure the kinksters will enjoy this sex positive club as well..

I only went 1 time, none of the sheets fit the beds, it seemed really dirty to me the front desk chick was removing her panties publically as i was checking in and im not sure why????? i had a ok time with my partner but in the future ill be going to the other clubs in the area instead of vr again..... its hard to have a great time when the whole time your playing the sheets falling off the bed and ur having to touch the mattress which who knows how many people or whats on it.
