How do you do EVERYTHING right and only get 4.3 stars? Some people . . . geez.First time at this theater last night. Saw Red Molly. Nothing by impressed by everything. These little gems of theaters are all over the NY area and greatly deserving of support from the community. This one is no exception.Big hit #1. They sent me an email outlining parking and dining options, dos/donts and other helpful info, and even a link to a video by the group we were seeing.Big hit #2. Small theater. There isnt a bad seat in the place, including the balcony. To the right of stage is a refreshment bar complete with wine and beer. To the left is an area for artist merch. At intermission, everyone stays inside the theater, and you end up mingling and chatting with others. Wonderful!Big hit #3. Good sound! Not easy to do in some of these places.Big hit #4. Pleasantly surprised at the variety of entertainment they stage here and the quality and notoriety of so many of the performers. Check them out online, find something you think youll like, and go!!
To clear any confusion, the Jeanne Rimsky Theatre is located at the Landmark on Main Street building and the names are used interchangeably.Disclosure: I have been a landmark employee (Lights, sound and stage technician) since 2007. Over that course of time I have seen the theatre grow and improve immensely. While there are major limitations in running a theatre inside a 100 year old building (lack of parking, nearly no storage space, cramped common areas) the quality of the productions here have increased with reach season. In the past few years we have vastly upgraded the sound system and obtained a liquor license. World Famous Acts such as Blue Oyster Cult, Darlene Love, John Oates, and the Indigo Girls have graced our theatre and had nothing but great things to say(generally artists come back to perform again, Darlene Love does a show almost every year for the last 7 years). The seasonal programming has grown and now features much more comedy (Lewis Black, Paula Poundstone, etc.) And lastly as a community organization, the Landmark offer very fair prices for businesses and non-profits to rent the space. There is also tons of free programming such as Afternoon Tea presentations and movies. The staff is dedicated and we constantly strive to improve the experience for every patron that walks through the door. With several restaurants in walking distance (Finn McCools is across the street) the Landmark is the perfect place to spend an evening. With just 425 seats, try to buy tickets early and know that the Main Street parking lot is not available for public use until 6:30pm weekdays and the rear parking lot off Webster Ave has no parking for the theater.I hope to see you there.
The parking is challenging and any seat up through F should be ok. Row K is too far back in my opinion and the aisle seat in the center of row K has a wide circular pole blocking the view. We saw Mutts gone nuts over there and the dogs were amazing! Too bad they didnt sell T-shirts or magnets, they should have!
Small venue. Auditorium. All seats close to stage. Easy in. Easy out. Very comfortable seating. Easy parking nearby.
Were lucky to have a performing arts center with such diversity of shows a few steps away from public transportation (the Port Washington LIRR station).I most enjoy roots rock and anything co-sponsored by WFUV, but have been impressed by the quality of other presentations.Drop on by, sample the piano bar offerings, and enjoy the show.
Went with 13 friends and truly enjoyed this play. The actresses were wonderful, and the content really resonated with all of us from 30s to 90! Hours of laughter!
This has to be the nicest venue I have ever been to. Every staff member went out of their way to help! The show was sold out and I needed a ticket. Told the box office manager how desperately I wanted one. She actually came running outside to get me because someone had called to turn in tickets! Fabulous place!
Easy to get to. Performances were well done and audience participation was deeply appreciated! Go see The Secret Comedy of Women!
Great place to see a show,or have a charitable event. Highly recommend.
It was surprisingly wonderful! We were not aware of that venue and while it looks like a little School auditorium, it was absolutely perfect! We enjoyed the show very, very much and we will continue to frequent that wonderful, hidden gem in the future!
The show was great, it was fun meeting the star of the show, plus the director Chazz
Excellent venue to see performances as well as to perform in. Very nice stage and seating.
Fantastic venue with awesome shows right in my town!
Fantastic music venue - Bruce Cockburn show
Intimate venue. Great shows.
Quaint theatre. Small and cozy. I recommend this place.
Great programs and location is very accessible.
Food was delicious; waitstaff courteous, helpful, and prompt. It was our first visit, and we will definitely return to work our way down the menu.
A nice venue for concerts. It has parking, but not enough space. You can park in the street.
The pizza is unique!
Small venue, approximately 4 to 500 seats, old an appearance but still comfortable as any theater is. The small venue makes the seat location very good, even if youre in the balcony. Went and saw the eaglemania band and they were phenomenal! If you ever get a chance to see them do yourself the favor and treat yourself to a wonderful night of eagles music. Their harmonizing equals or Rivals the actual Eagles.
This is a fantastic place to see a show because of how intimate the size of the theater is. Get their early because street parking is a hassle.
Great acoustics, great sight lines, concessions are super limited with no healthy options other than veggie straws and water, no hot beverages, parking limited on crowded days, need to reserve a spot in advance which comes with valet service which is nice. Enjoyed it, would love to come see more shows at this venue.
Great little local theater. My kids theater group holds performances there. Once in a while they have great shows. Taking away a star because the seating is very narrow/tight.
Small quaint venue free parking
Accessible bathrooms are NOT accessible!!!! No I e seemed to care they r up 4 steps.
Nice little theatre parking is a small problem.
Its as Janeane Garfolo put it - its like a high school theater but that also makes it a gem. Small venue, great seats and really, really talented artists coming through and gracing us with their wit, music, drama and more.
Pretty much a nice view of the stage from any seat in the house.
Current play was cute. But please change the seats they are so uncomfortable. When I got there I remembered why I do not come to the shows.
Love playing here. Sweet folks in charge. ..extra mile backstage. Good crew.
Little engine that could. Punches well above its weight.
Beautiful local theater!
Every seat has great view- small and intimate with good programming
400 seat venue, good sound & sight lines, quality acts & reasonable ticket prices. Downtown location with restaurants & ample free parking
Small and antiquated, need to be updated.
Im in California now but, I was a kid of 8years old when i first set foot in this Landmark. Wow. Its still looks the same. I remember growing up academically in this school, with Mr. Loh, Mrs. Cohen. Good teachers back in 1983-1985.
Ehh. I know I shouldnt expect a lot from this place, but it just doesnt hit the mark. They do a nice service for the local community, but it needs to be renovated. Im sure they know this, but I imagine budgetary constraints prevent this.
Small theater... is not sloped right where the people in front block your view
My new favorite venue.
