While participating in a simulation in early July 2020 a 10-15 lbs wooden support bracket fell from the ceiling onto my head. An employee was in the room with us at the time of the incident. They asked if I was OK. I didn’t respond because I was in shock of the situation. I nodded I was OK not wanting to draw attention to myself. The employee stayed in character the entire time and went on their way with the simulation. I was never given an incident report. I was surprised that the simulation didn’t stop to see if I was OK and check to see if I had a concussion... At least take me to sick bay lol. Thankfully the pain went away an hour later although I had a large lump on my head for a week. I find it a huge blessing it didn’t happen to someone smaller than myself. I see now that this really needs to be addressed and I hope that this review will help the school secure the rooms more professionally.
This is an incredibly fun activity that is very unique! If you are in to Star Wars or more especially, Star Trek, you will absolutely love it. Its like being in the Enterprise crew. Every participant gets a specific job that contributes to completing a mission. Along the way there are twists and dilemmas that require difficult decisions. But succeed or fail, youll have fun the whole way through. Theyll even let you retry a new decision if things dont go well. Its delightful; I would highly recommend it! #funwithfriends
Wowie. This kind of thing is right in my alleyway, though I think anyone would enjoy it. I was really afraid that it would end up being really childish at first, but I was blown away. I, an 18 year-old, very much enjoyed it and very much intend on going back. My older brother, 30 years of age, also very much enjoyed it. Maeson did an excellent job of adapting to our needs and abilities. Thoroughly impressed. Amazing price as well!!
Fun time with friends. A little confusing if you have never done something lime this before.
This was one of the most fun experiences our family has ever done together. My husband and I are huge Galaxy Quest fans, and we felt like we had stepped right into the movie. Our group had folks from age 11-41, and we all had a fantastic time. The staff was great, providing both opportunities for drama as well as well-timed comedy. We loved the whole experience and will definitely be booking another mission in the near future.
Ive been to every space center and they all offer about the same experience. Some sets are better than others but if youve never been to any youre missing out. This place is definitely a good time and although not the best center in my opinion still a great time and gets the job done.
We had a wonderful birthday party for my daughter and 11 of her friends! I was a little worried that the kids were too young to really enjoy the experience (theyre all around 7 yo, in first grade). They had a blast though. We did have to adjust some of the story line to fit their attention spans, but overall it was wonderful! A really great facility with plenty of tables and seating area for those who join the party before or after. They were accommodating and very kind. We will definitely be going back!
I tried to book a private party here to no luck. I Emailed Multiple times and then called and left messages multiple times over a 3 week period and no one ever responded. I called the school they are in and they too said they didn’t no how to get in contact and can’t get a hold of anyone. I finally asked a friend who volunteered there last year and then she was able to get some one to contact me- EVEN then it was starting from scratch as to what I was looking to book and when etc and took days between correspondence. It has been a very frustrating experience when I was excited to plan a fun surprise. So still no party when I tried to book a month out and birthday is in 6 days. Plan B
This place has been a place where I have felt like I could be myself and could grow and learn. Every experience that Ive had there has been amazing and I am constantly telling people to go there. It is family friendly and has an amazing atmosphere and its very high quality. The staff are super friendly and help with anything that you need. 100% recommend people go.
Edit to previous review: when with friends a while back. I LOVE the space center, though I think that the previous colonial command universe was better. Hope to volunteer here!
Fantastic experience! Our family was gathering in Utah from all over the country and we had a lot of fun together! Austin did a great job making sure our group aged 8 and *older* all had jobs we could have fun with. All of the staff members were incredibly patient with our questions going in and throughout the mission. It was exciting the entire time, especially as we got closer to success! We look forward to going back whenever were all in the area again!
We had a work activity here and it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. The space center is great for teambuilding and our entire team got really involved. The staff was also very helpful as well
This was so much fun. I think I can speak for my co-workers in saying this was a great adventure. The staff was friendly and the mission was intense and wild. I cant wait to try more and different missions. I would recommend to anyone. I have already given the information to another team with in our company and letting them know they should do it.
This place is AMAZING!!! I really feel like Im flying in a space ship and going on a real mission. The staff there also made the experience more real with actors that do their job wonderfully. 10/10 will come again!!!
We had our sons twelfth birthday party at the Pleasant Grove location. We took 12 kids ages 8-13 and they had the best time. They couldnt stop talking about it afterward. The experience was great. The employees worked so hard and did the best job creating a realistic experience for the kids. We would definitely go again.
I think that the Discovery Space Center is fantastic! Its my favorite Space Center that Ive been to so far. Ive been a camper there for a very long time and have had birthday parties there for several years. The experience really helps build camaraderie and character. The missions they fly are exciting and memorable and will leave an imprint on you that is worth the time and money. The staff are very involved and dedicated to what they do and how they can make your experience the best it can be by catering to you specifically based on things like age and even just what kind of personality you seem to have and what kind of experience youre looking for. The missions teach you skills that are important for real life and are great for any age to develop, such as good leadership and decision making. The staff are very supportive and even tried to help when the car broke down. I highly recommend going there, its an experience you wont forget!
Amazing staff. They explain everything very clearly and make sure everybody is on board with the mission choice. They were very flexible with us as our group size kept changing all the way up to the start of our mission. Recommend for young adults or older as some of the parts of the group are extremely complicated for kids. We had tons of fun and would do it again.
My son attended a birthday party with a friend here and loved it. He then asked a year later if he could come back. He loves this place and couldnt quit talking about how much fun he had. We would definitely do it again!
We went to the space center for a family reunion and had a blast! Our group ranged from 9 years up to 55+. Every person in our group had tons of fun. The employees at the space center were professional and fun. They kindly accommodated our large group with no complaints. They were very helpful and made the whole experience exciting from start to finish. We loved the length of the 2.5 hour mission. There was just enough time to learn our jobs, survive the red alert, and be left wanting to come back again. Overall, we had a fabulous time! Dan, Melissa, Jennie, and Maeson were awesome. Thanks for the heart pumping fun!
Our family had a fantastic time at the Discovery Space Center! We did this as part of our family reunion and everyone who was old enough to participate had a fun time. As the grandmother, I was tending the smaller ones who couldnt go, but the excited comments that kept up for HOURS afterward let me know that if was money well spent for a memorable time! We plan to do this again!
I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damaging thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. - Benjamin SiskoAnd that is how I feel about our mission at Discovery Space Center. (minus the whole murder thing, we didnt murder anyone) but it was awesome.
My son (age 10) loved the Friday Night that he attended. He had a lot of fun and thought it was a great evening. Hes loved all the camps hes attended. My only complaint was that parents were told it ended at 11pm. They were done and sitting on the curb at 10:30pm! If you say 11 you need to keep them in the building until they are picked up. Thanks!
My corporate team has a blast in this simulator. The facilities were impressive, the staff was engaged and supportive, and it was A LOT of fun. We didnt even realize that we were team building. We give our hearty endorsement of the Discovery Space Center for your team retreats...or for a group of friends.
We celebrated my sons birthday at the Discovery Space Center in Pleasant Grove. The kids had a blast working through their mission. I was really impressed with watching the employees as they took the kids through the scenario. The employees some serious skills to spontaneously respond to the kids as they worked through things. Big shout out to Maeson for contacting me when one of the birthday presents was left behind!
Had a group of 6 people on the Dauntless and we all had a blast. Our guide Brandon Ebright was SUPER fun, we loved how happy and funny he was and are still talking about how fun it was. Also how our pilot Joel tried to take us to warp speed while we were still docked in the space station... and how we got a call from Jenny (Alien flight controller from another planet, who was hilarious!) yelling at him :D
My 13 year old loves this program although always wants the scariest mission possible. The last one was too tame, he said. Thanks for your kindness and hard work!
We had a bday party for our 9 year old and 12 other kids last week. It was a fantastic experience for all. They staff is awesome and very friendly. The kids all had a great time and it was one of the easiest birthday parties I have ever thrown!
This place was awesome for my 13 year old son who had never done a space mission before. Thanks so much to the incredible staff who made it so much fun for him! My husband and I want to try it next!
This was so fun for my 10 yr olds birthday party! Seriously they had a blast! The staff was super helpful and involved, and created to easiest birthday party experience for me to plan! Would highly recommend and my daughter isn’t even totally obsessed with space stuff but this was such a fun role playing activity, she and all her friends really enjoyed it
Epic. My 12 year old loved it and so did his crew. Special thanks to Maeson Busk for helping us to upgrade last minute and invite more kids! I was impressed with the staff behind the scenes and how much fun they were having too. Thank you!
Our team did this for a company event and it was a hit! We were worried it would be mostly for little kids, but it was surprisingly complex and fun for adults. You have bring out your inner Star Trek side to really immerse into the scenarios, but if you can play along a little it is fun for everyone.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my sons 12th birthday here! The staff was so much fun and the space mission adventure was a hit for every child that attended! Austin, in particular, directed the mission and was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place!
I decided to bring my group of (nerdy) friends to the space center for my birthday not too long ago, and it was honestly some of the best money I have ever spent. The simulators and tech that they have seems entirely normal, but it is so surreal to be able to integrate all of the normal day to day stuff and fly an actual space ship with it! Staff were very friendly and informative (even though they talked really fast) and the mission was adaptive to us. I highly recommend coming here if you are wanting to just have some fun with your friends.
What a great place to take the kids. They will be learning many skills without realizing it while they have so much fun. The staff and ownership are great. They understand teaching teamwork and including all. There is not a better entertainment value in Utah County for your kids. Try it once and I will bet you will take your kids back over and over again.
I just barely went on a 12-hour mission down at the Discovery Space Center, and I absolutely loved it!!! I was the captain, and I can tell you the care which they took in teaching each crew member what to do was amazing. We actually finished the 12-hour mission before our time was up; so, they added on another mission and tied it in to the story. They made sure everyone was comfortable with what was going to happen, and did an amazing job acting. The fact that the solutions to a problem could be as simple as doing nothing or as complex as assembling a nuclear warhead kept us on our toes. They tailored the mission to our age, and made it challenging while still maintaining all the elements of fun. It honestly felt as if we were in a movie. They are amazing story-tellers as well as innovators. We will definitely be going down again very soon!
Very similar to living through an episode of startrek, very enjoyable, they have you make reservations and there are several different ships, missions, and scenarios to go through. They have a wide variety of tone slots to choose from, the shortest are 2.5 hrs and the longest are 72. I strongly recommend this place to anyone planning a birthday, or other special event.
Discovery Space Center was an awesome birthday experience. The staff was fabulous, they were fun, attentive and very professional. It was a perfect party for a group of 10 year olds. We will definitely be back!
Super awesome staff! Amazing experience with intense twists and cool effects!
I was in charge of planning an activity for my department at work. Our age range was 21-45. Everyone loved it! A few of them are planning to go again not for work.
We have done several birthday parties here and they always do a remarkable job and are super patient with the kids!
This was our second trip! The kids loved it so much, they said it was like be the guys on steroids!! We will come back for sure :)
Organized and welcoming staff (says mom) and SO MUCH FUN (says the 12-14 year old boys at the bday party). Good value and a huge hit!
This place was so super awesome!! We went there for my wife’s 40th birthday and it was out of this world and beyond!!! What an experience to remember and the staff was on board at light speed! We went into our imaginations and into the galactic infinity of possibilities!!A must try!!
Took my daughter and her friends there for her other birthday and they loved it. The scenarios are controlled by the employees so they could adapt it to the groups skill level in real time. The parent does not have to do anything. Just sit back and watch
I love the space center. Ive done a couple flights now, and most of them have turned out to be some of my favorite memories. I am a big Sci-Fi fan, so being able to fly a spaceship was an amazing experience. While the missions have a basic plot, you are free to choose how you get to the end point and what enemies and friends you make along the way. The center recently got new controls, and, while they still have a few bugs, these controls are significantly better than the old ones. The staff is really nice and the actors that come on bridge as a medical personal or someone trying to take you out just add to the experience. Throughout my travels, Ive definitely learned the rule to Trust no one. Usually crew members are okay, but if anyone comes on board the ship, a good rule of thumb is not to trust them. You never know what could happen. The only mission that I thought could have been better was toned down because we had younger kids on board, but even that was still fun. There are a couple positions that arent as fun as others, but with the new controls, you always have something to do - even if its stopping a giant food fight in the galley. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to engage in some intergalactic travels!
Is okay, wouldnt say the greatest though. And also, an important thing to know is that this is part of a school so you may need to be flexible scheduling wise.
Dont get me wrong. I love the Space Center. Just not the one located in Canyon Grove Academy. If you want to go to the Space Center, do not go to this one!!!My experience here was terrible. First, there was not an adult in sight; the entire simulation was completely run by teenagers who seemed to know little about what they were doing. The ship resembled an empty closet more than anything else. I was assigned the Engineering position, and I ended up sitting and doing nothing for the entire two hours. I could tell that my computer came from the original Space Center, because all of the instructions given to me on my computer to fix things did not correspond with any of the computers functions or the functions of any of the machinery on the particular ship I was on. I asked several of the teen employees to help me but none of them could answer my questions; they had no idea what to do about it. I ended up hitting random buttons, and things would get fixed only when it was conducive to the plot. The entire experience was a complete waste of time and money.
Austin was amazing. We had such a fun time. Truly a unique experience.
We had a ton of fun!! It was a great combo of Dungeons and Dragons and Star Trek. Highly recommend it to any group looking for a fun activity to do.
What a great place! I was skeptical but definitely proven wrong. We had a fantastic time!
A perfect place to take friends who are willing to enjoy the story. I went with some old roommates and it was awesome.
We had a blast!! Tristin was super awesome and made sure to make our experience super fun.
The mission was awesome and the team was great (Tristan especially)! The only reason its not 5 stars is because we had so many technical difficulties with the stations, so some people had a pretty hard time doing their job.
Lots of fun. A bit stressful and intense at times, but so is work. A great team building experience for our department.
I love the space center the staff there is FANTASTIC!!! This is a great place for a group date!!! Its even great to bring your family!!!
My boy loved his overnight space camp. He wants to tell me EVERYTHING about it! He REALLY wants to go again!
I have been on five private missions and one camp, and all but one of my experiences have been above and beyond the best experiences of my life. The only one that wasnt quite as awesome was toned down for the young people in our group, and I felt like there wasnt much tension (which I like). The staff is fantastic at really immersing you in the mission, and everything is tailored to fit your needs. Nothing feels contrived, although Murphys law definitely applies (always expect the worst.)I first flew here at a time when I felt like I was out of control. We saved Earth that first mission, and I did something that mattered. It pulled me through a tough time.
Excellent staff and did an amazing job working through the story.
My sons birthday party was a blast and the kids learned a lot about working together!
Birthday 4.5 Hour mission on the Everest on April 28, 2018We decided to do the longer mission for my sons 24th birthday. We had 12 people come and of those 3 of my sons have been on missions before--probably 10 years ago at the original location in Pleasant Grove. This was such a fun mission! From the very beginning, Tristan was an awesome host! We were on the Everest which holds up to 14 people. The whole crew working behind the scenes was great from the start--they made sure we didnt repeat another mission my sons had done years ago.Even though were were an older group ranging in age from 13 to 50, the crew didnt make us feel that way. They made our whole group part of the experience and reminded us that the more we get into character, the more fun it would be.We are all Sci-Fi nuts, so this was pretty easy to do! Again, Tristan was very professional and put us at ease with the whole process. Everything was very well explained so we knew what we were doing. After we were trained on our stations, we started the mission and time flew by! 4.5 hours was nothing! My station had a few technical difficulties, but they were handled quickly. Having a helper on board our ship was good too--since we had questions during the mission. The crew members on board stayed in character which added to the experience as well.We will definitely be back! Our crew was just the right size for our ship and having a big group is very fun! Thanks for a fun experience and a big THANKS to Tristan! You are very good at your job!The Rushton family
Fun place to go on a hot date, more fun than escape room.
I try to go there as often as humanly possible. It is an amazing experience and probably will become your new place to have fun.Just saying, if youre a nerd, like me, this is HEAVEN!!!P.S. Recently, I went on a 3 day camp there. Best. 3. Days. Of. My. LIfe.
The software isnt perfect, but a good time was had by all!
Oh man. This place is fan-friggin-tastic. I hadnt been for years and when I went, I wasnt disappointed. Ive been twice more in two months. They do a great job at helping you feel involved in the adventure and making it seem like youre really a part of the action. Its definitely worth your while.
This place brings my childhood dreams of the Star Trek to life. It is the best way to get good public skills and corporation and leadership
Every time I have been there the expierence has been really unique. It is totally worth the time and money. It has taught me valuable lessons that I still use every day. Discovery Space center is the best!!!!!!
This place was so much fun! We always talked about going and I was completely blown away by th experience. Its a wonderful way to spend a couple hours. Highly, highly recommend for any SciFi fan!
Loved it, would go again.
Discovery Space Center is an awesome place where literally anything can happen - as long as youre in a DSC spaceship you can forget about your outside-world problems and just enjoy the experience of actually flying a ship into space for a little while. Its just amazing how realistic and inclusive the missions are; whether youre a huge sci-fi fan or just looking for a team bonding experience, this is the place for you.
The Discovery Space Center is one of my favorite places to be. It was one of the funnest and most exciting places I have ever been.
This place was awful it was so glitchy and had a really bad story that made no sense. Dont go here
I LOVE the space center!!! I have come here a few times with my friends and we have a blast every time. When my friend invited me for the first time I was kind of weirded out because I am not in elementary school anymore, but it was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever done. Awesome and intense problem solving adventure where we flew through space and fought aliens with phaser guns. Nuff said.
Impossible to get ahold of a human being at this place. Over 50 calls to this number, emails, and even an in person visit. Finally got ahold of someone and then could never follow up. Not ran like an actual business. This is more of a part time hobby/job for someone who does not care even to offer even the most basic customer service.
I have loved going to this space center for years! But recently it has gone down hill drastically. The ships definatly need a bit of repair because of all of the wear and tear. The staff this last mission i flew in February seemed a bit confused and disorganised. They tryed there best but it did not seem like they where on the same page. When we got there they had us wait for a little while because they did not have enough actors. If they are that desperate for actors that people have to wait around: i would think they would be trying to recruit people like crazy. I did not mind the wait: but it was surprisingly long. For some reason our flight director had battle star galatica themed pins on (didnt mind it but i was confused)They run mostly off volunteer actors like i said earlier. But it does not sound like they get treated super great. They dont get compensations of any kind for gas/bus fare (and some of these people where comeing from a ways away) and it does not sound like its a great position. I have alot of respect for them: but i could never do it.During the flight was ok. My poor engineer kept getting instructions that made no sense and did not match the pannels. Some of it was because the panel looked broken, or was missing it. No idea. My poor science officer was also confused. The science officer slot seemed way too over complicated.I am under the impression that they recently got new managment and may account for the sub par visit. Or mabey it was new volunteers, no idea.I will say it will be a little while before i consider coming back.
We had so much fun doing this for a family reunion with ages 5 to 40. Strongly recommend trying it out.
My wife and I have been to this experience several times. We have participated in missions for birthday parties, corporate training, and double dates.Pros:Full immersion into a futuristic universe: From the moment you walk through the space centers doors, you are a member of Colonial Command (akin to Star Treks Starfleet). When I have attended with adults they were impressed with the amount of depth put into the simulators to help you feel as though you are in this universe. When I went with my nephews birthday party it was fun to watch their 11 year old eyes light up with wonder once they felt they were in this other world. [[Note: I see they have recently moved, and hope they still have this instant immersion at their new facility]]Friendly and imaginative staff: Im such a frequent flier here (because I love it so much) that Ive actually flown the same mission a few times, but it is never boring! The staff is so creative, and each mission has a personality of its own. They have been kind, and helpful with any issues that may arise.Instruction videos that are entertaining: I especially love the videos the space center puts out. Quality material that helps with their immersion process. Where do they get those videos?! Obviously they have a great set to work with, and their staff that puts them together does a great job!Big value: I mean this in two different ways. The bang you get for your buck is quite and impressive one. Also, each mission will make you consider your ethics and values. In missions Ive participated in with both adults and children, there has always been a discussion about right and wrong once we come out of the space center. Such a fantastic introspective learning opportunity.Cons:Position management: There have been times where we have a group of ten or so people, and after the mission two or three of those people say I dont feel like I did anything or I kept scanning for stuff and the computer would just scan and scan forever. I have found the ideal crew for any ship is whatever the minimum suggestion is on their website.Training is sometimes too long: Missions are offered in 2 hours, 4 hours, or longer duration. About 30 minutes (or one time it took 45 minutes) of that is spent on training us on our positions. If I only have 2 hours to have fun, it doesnt feel great when I spend a quarter of that time training. [[Our most recent mission only took us 20 minutes before we were flying through the galaxy. Much improved.]]All in all, we will 100% be going back! We love this place! It has a special place in our hearts. Many of our friends that we have brought have plans to go back as well! We love the space center!
This is one of Utahs best kept secrets and we need to let the secret out! The Discovery Space Center has a magic like nothing else I have ever experienced!
It is so much fun!! The staff are really kind and helpful.
Man I love it made me feel like I was in a Star Trek movie
This was not a dynamicly flowing adventure, but more of a pre destined course of actions, no matter our responses. I had fun, not sure I would ever go a second time. Mission felt clunky and the terminals were buggy. We spent most of our time repairing broken ship parts, the majority of which entailed relaying steps we had no way of accomplishing to the staff over the ships computer. The computer then completed these steps for us.Comtrols for moving the ship didnt actually work, staff controlled that. Fighting enemy ships never resulted in damage done or destroying them because there was a planned outcome to each battle. Music way too loud, couldnt hear each other. Had a few epic choice of songs, though.Room was well Sahara hot with no air flow. Staff were super awesome, this has potential. Maybe my experience was due to it being their first run through of Pathfinder.
If you want to go to one of these places, go to the other one. Ive heard firsthand accounts on the quality of this one compared to the one just south of it. This one is merely a ripoff of the original and isnt worth your time.
Well organized and a lot of fun....
I have called, left voicemails, texted, and emailed about wanting to schedule a birthday party, but I had a couple questions before I did. I have still not heard back from a single person, email, or text.
Austin made it fun for the group
Disappointing.
NOT worth the money
It was tonnes of fun!!!!
Great staff and service
Great
Very fun even for an older crowd
We just left that location at the school. Theinstructions were vague, the computers did not work for the majority of the mission, no one to help us with our questions once we started. A very frustrating experience!!!!!!!!
My childhood dreams coming true in the most real way! If you havent been its a must! Theres nothing else like it!
