One of the few Texas shaped swimming pools in the world. This historic (50 year old) pool is listed on the National Registry of Historic places and is a gem. Great place to take a day trip and chill by the pool. Lifeguards on duty. They also rent it out for parties. Birthday parties are a huge success here. You can also catch “Elizabeth Swims” the YouTube star swimming here sometimes.
Just discovered this place and we love it!! Only suggestion would be to update the bathrooms. Overall its the perfect place to spend a hot summer day
The Texas Pool is a historic place to swim. Completely rebuilt about 2 years ago without changing any of the history. Swimming from the Panhandle thru Dallas to Brownsville in a few minutes is fun.
Nice place to swim would recommend had a great time! definitely coming back!!!
The pool is shaped like Texas! We always enjoy our time here and will be back next summer.
Was at this pool many times when I was a younger man the people are friendly and swimming pool is fun go and enjoy. 20 yrs later took my kids there,15 yrs ago. Lol
My family enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July here! The pool is wonderful, nice and clean. The staff could not be nicer, we had a large group and they were very helpful.
The Texas Pool was a great venue for a first birthday!! The lifeguards were so helpful and lots of shade! Great place for birthdays or family events:) I definitely recommend this for your next kid’s birthday!!
Not the largest, cheapest or most modern pool around but more than makes up with charm and character
This is a hidden gem in Plano! Stunning blue saltwater pool in the shape of Texas. Awesome events! Safe, quiet and quaint. There is a little library and little pantry for locals to help each other out. Membership is affordable for the whole family!
This pool is so cute and historic. I love how they have maintained this pool for so many years. I like the older look to it. Also has beautiful paintings and neat its in the shape of Texas with a island where Plano is located. My family very much enjoyed this pool.
Its a nice community pool. Different atmosphere than a city pool - less crowded and more laid back about floaties and water toys. Were much more likely to see our neighbors there, which is nice. And they do fun activities, like a chess club and ice cream socials that are part of a membership. This year, the base membership is $175 for a family for the summer, which is actually down from past years. But so far, its been a great experience.
I went for the mermaid party. Altho the pool was smaller than expected, it handled the mermaid crowd well. It got nasty after a while- there was a LOT of hair. Area is all residential and parking is ok...it is all along the side of the road. I wish it had real parking but due to the area I doubt that will happen. Overall Id probly come here again if it was as busy as it was today, which really wasnt all that bad after most of the younger crowd left. Most of all I LOVE the smooth pool surface. This is very kind and forgiving to mermaid tails that snag, pill, and get messed up thru normal wear and tear on rough pool surfaces.
The Texas Pool is such a fun place for our whole family! We love inviting friends and enjoying all that they have to offer, from the slides and the diving boards to their grills and great Lifeguards!
Great pool! Great people! Cant believe we just discovered this gem last summer. The membership is WAY cheaper this year, so well be going back over and over this year. Lots of cool free parties too.
Local pool, shaped like the State of Texas with slides and a diving board, some concessions and a nice combination of shade and sun. A somewhat noisy, busy suburban oasis. You have to pay to get in and you can buy a membership.
Volunteered as a mermaid here! Clean and staff is very friendly
Fun, not too crowded. Chill lifeguards. Diving board, slides, and an island. Nice atmosphere, and shaped like the great state of Texas. Whats not to love?
This Historic Texas-shaped pool, just outside of Dallas, is famous for legendary fun and a laid back ambiance. There is a Liittle Free Library, Little Free Pantry, a Community Garden, Toddler Play Zone, snack bar, slides and an island. Texas Gulf Coast murals, live music, parties and special events are all a part of the Texas Pool experience. A community gathering place, and nonprofit 501c3 charity, the Texas Pool has many opportunites for volunteerism, community service and involvement. #SwimAcrossTexas
I have lived in the immediate community with this pool for over a decade. I have 4 children that won’t even go to the pool because they say the water makes them sick. Just the fumes coming off the water causes eye and skin irritation. The root issue with this pool has most to do with how it is managed. It has a “Board of Directors” who consider this a private pool. They keep the membership personal tuned to a certain type of all white clientele. Observing how this pool is managed is like watching homeless people fight over management/ownership of a public phone booth. The hostility displayed by the board members themselves have driven away most of the community from using the pool. The board members who care for the pool are not certified to do so and do not know how. There is also a concern in the community as to the pollution the pool is causes. The pool currently uses the adjoining creek/public park as their personal dump for their pool/chemicals.
I have grown up at the Texas Pool and around the community. It is a great place to beat the hot Texas heat. Swimming at the pool I have made friendships that have lasted through high school. The Texas pool is a beautiful saltwater pool maintained by its lifeguard staff and Board of Directors who work hard to keep the pool in the best condition for the members. It was always fun to bring in your friends in for the day and have them oooo and Ahh over the shape of the pool. Its in amazing shape for the 54 years it has been around. I highly recommend going to the Texas Pool!
Was a member in the 70s and 80s with my children and now a member since 2006 for grandchildren. Their parents think it is great they get to swim at the same pool they did.
Very nice and kid friendly. Their Life guards are the best in the business.
Fun mermaid party. Mermaids and mermen all over the pool!
I can’t afford it
Fun, family environment, great people, and great price. Will go back every chance I get!
