City Theatre Company

Saw One Night in Miami yesterday evening at the City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The actors were superb and the brilliantly-delivered script was both thought-provoking yet peppered with comic one-liners. At one stage I was moved to tears. The Theatre is easily accessible and the seats are comfortable, each row offering a generous view of the stage. Recommended.

We saw One Night in Miami (playing through December 1) -- Dont miss this play. It is really a wonderfully written and acted piece of theater. The actor who played Sam Cooke had a gorgeous, rich voice. The actor who played Mohammed Ali captured the pitch of his personality perfectly -- truly the Greatest! The actors portraying Malcolm X and Jim Brown were well cast and also excellent, excellent, excellent. The play just worked so well to provide the essence of the era and the personalities. Again NOT TO BE MISSED. The set is also amazing!

Attended Cambodian Rock Band with my wife & son. Excellent performance by the cast. Very dynamic and moving story. Well Done City Theater!

Been going here for years and will continue. The set designs are amazing, fantastic actors and writers treat your self to a play and I bet you will go back...

Ot a bad seat in the house, a great theater tucked away in the Southside of Pittsburgh. Saw One Night in Miami, an excellent show, with awesome acting. A very moving experience from a interesting perspective. Will definitely visit again, and bring friends!

I have been seeing plays here for over 6 years now and Im always impressed. The stories and the actors are wonderful.

The City Theater always has quality plays. Its nice to go a bit early and have coffee and a sweet cookie before the play. Everyone involved is over the top welcoming.

City Theatre the courage and creativity to take on new plays. Love it!

Excellent. The venue isnt giant but it is old and well taken care of. Theres a small area as you walk in for drinks before the show.

Creative, often avante-garde, new plays. Tonights performance was well acted, but the storyline was a bit disjointed while at the same time thought provoking.

As far as the venue and the staff, everything is great here. Prices are reasonable and the theatre always offers a couple “pay what you want” price nights for those that can’t afford the full ticket. I’d recommend catching a show when you can!

We have been subscribers to the City Theatre for over 20 years. We love the seasonal subscription because it forces us to take a date night at least once per month. We generally get dinner on the South Side and then attend the show. They always have something fresh and pertinent. You can get a cocktail before the show and mingle in the lobby area where they generally have some type of interactive game or activity that coordinates along with the show or the theme. Its a great time. Have yet to be disappointed!

The theatre company always does a really good job with the shows they do. Im not always interested in the shows included in their season, but every show Ive seen there has been well designed and acted. I look forward to going back for more shows in the future.

The best play Ive seen in awhile. If you get the chance to see Roommate do it. Its worth it. You better hurry because it will be over in a few daus here in Pittsburgh.

Small theater with state of the art set designs and productions. Professional actors. Many of the productions are adult themed touching current issues.

This theater is beautiful! The building is just gorgeous and the people who work here really love what they do. They have great programs for young people and the community as well. The location is great, with parking and food places nearby. The Young Playwrights series put on every year is incredible, and is such a great way to give back to young people from the community exploring drama and playwriting!

Went to see Nomad Motel last night. very enjoyable event. first visit to the city theater. a very intimate arena with great seats to feel engaged with the performing artists. great quality of actors and actresses. a very high valued driven event. will make this a more common venue to see high quality affordable events.

We love this theater. Have had yearly subscriptions for 4 years now and have enjoyed each play. The Revolutionsts is playing now. Great play: written and directed by women and all women cast. Blends Reign of Terror during French revolution with a 21st century touch. Worth seeing, not a bad seat in the house.

Great Artistic effort to go Fringe/Disruptive on Theatre Stage in a small-city like Pittsburgh. With some, results are Outstanding. See Feeding the Dragon or Royal. These, deserve National if not International Stages.

Nice smaller venue with a variety of performances. Season tickets offer flexibility of changing dates and buying additional seats for guests at a discount. Small bar area for drinks prior to performances. A nice night out.

This is Jean. I have been to see the Eagles tribute ban 3 yrs in a row. This last performance was not as employable. it seemed the sound man didnt know his job.We couldnt hear the singers the music was so loud. the young woman who sings Linda ronstat songs was drounded out.I know she has a beautiful voice,I would be upset if it were my daughter.

Wonderful experience with my mom. Everyone so friendly and welcoming.

I was a volunteer worker at this theatre in 2001 for 2 months while visiting Pittsburgh and I absolutely loved it. The people were so amazing towards me and to this day I miss each and everyone of them. They did great work and I only wish I was back there to see them again and to see how things have been since I last saw them and the work they did. The best time of my lifeCarrie-Ann

There are two theatres here, and they are both great. A large venue and a smaller black-box venue. I have never been disappointed in either one!

The best live theater company in Pittsburgh. The productions are always compelling and entertaining. The repertoire is always fresh and masterfully produced.

Great new work by new artists. Ive held season tickets for a couple of years. I see a variety of plays, but the content and quality of the work at City Theatre is consistently strong, memorable, and often leads to good discussions with our friends and neighbors. This is good, unique theater!

Always have a great time when i come here. Expect to be amazed.

What a treat. Ive never been to a theater like that. Stage is in the middle of the room basically and surrounded by seats. Clean and professional. Trendy crowd. My suggestion is to take an Uber as parking seems tough. I will be back next time in the city

We saw great improv here as part of the Pittsburgh Comedy Festival.

Pipeline was fabulous. I recommend it for everyone.

Great place to go and see a good play and forget about the woes of today.

We were in the upstairs theater. All of the seats gave a nice view, but we had a difficult time hearing. We missed probably half of the commentary.
