Nothing better than watching the original ET movie (yes the ET phone home movie) in the same place they Filmed the Blob... Probably shot around the same time ....Anyways, I highly recommend this Ol Gem of a Theater... Its absolutely Beautiful inside and out... So grateful that the community and Theather Enthusiasts kept it alive!!!!
I was impressed with this theater. The entrance is beautiful and the theater has a lot of character. Its a small theater so no matter where you sit you feel relatively close to the stage. The big band show we saw here was AWESOME! The only con is that, like many old theaters, the seats are kind of narrow and dont have excessive amounts of foot space. My 511 tall husband and our over 6 feet tall friends were a little cramped for space. Overall a cool place to go for a fun concert experience.
Friendly and charming. Lets support our independent theaters and the character they give our communities!
We were out to see a more current movie but ended up in this theater with a feature film. The theater is so beautiful and very clean. The seats are comfortable and the audio was really good. The bathrooms are immaculate as well. I will be going back to watch more feature films for sure :)
I love being able to go see classic movies like Casablanca on the big screen. I wish the screen itself was a little bigger...sitting closer to the front makes it a better experience. But this is a nice, fun place to see a movie
Went to see my friend Geo Michaels in a show on Friday night, the venue was amazing, absolutely adorable! The show was so much fun and well put together. We had an absolute blast! Would definitely go back!
Great place to take the kids or a date. Has an original theater dating back to Early 1900s, where you can view old black and white movies on original screen! My favorite ️. There is a newer area on other side with popcorn, other light foods and drinks, including wine and beer! I think there is also a newer theater, but Ive not visited it.. yet. Santa for the kids, even big ones, during Christmas!
We saw Casablanca. Wed never seen it before, and really enjoyed seeing it on an authentic square movie screen. The seats were in the balcony, so a bit cramped but also, authentic. We are members and have enjoyed seeing current movies (in the newer theater area with very comfortable seats) including Hidden Lives, 1917 and Just Mercy. Thank you, Colonial Theatre!
Love it here. Cant wait for it to reopen!
Beautiful theater. Small and cozy so you know you’re getting an intimate show. Had the pleasure to see Delbert McClinton. Seats are a bit tight, but I’m a bigger guy so ymmv. They have old movies every Sunday and a ton of other events going on. Highly recommend checking out the schedule of things going on.
The theatre has been beautifully restored. A part of the movie The Blob was filmed here back in the day. The seats are comfortable and it is an intimate setting. Every seat has a good view due to the angle of the theatre. We watched a musical performance and the sound was very good as well. You will enjoy this theatre for any experience.
Went to see Horror Bowl - John Carpenters horror trilogy. I had an absolute blast. Prince of Darkness, is top notch cheese horror, and In the Mouth of Madness is an excellent esoteric horror. The Thing, while an absolute benchmark masterpiece, unfortunately suffered from film degradation and was not as clean and pristine as the other two, more obscure films. The Colonial Theatre is a true treasure, and if I resided closer, I would be a more common fixture there.
Almost perfect. The seats were the only thing that disappointed. We did sit in the balcony and that was cool. Saw 1917 movie which was great.
Probably my favorite theater outside of KOP. It feels nice, looks well designed and the screens themselves seem very new and great quality. I like that they have little bottles to add some flavor to the popcorn as well.
Beautiful old style theater. Very clean. Recently updated. Modern surround sound system. Staff very polite. Will be making this a staple.
This is a great little community theater. I might be a bit predjust as my great niece was in the performance, however the venue was terrific. Friendly staff, great snack bar with reasonable prices. The only downside was parking. I highly recommend this place.
A great place to see a movie. The seats are comfortable and well-spaced. The environment is very relaxed and comfortable. The concessions are well priced and the popcorn was quite good.Definitely worth a visit! Especially for Blob-fest!!
We went for Blobfest, of course, but this theater is fantastic the rest of the year as well. Great staff. Good concessions. Good event space. Excellent movie selection. So great that this historic theater offers modern expectations with classic flavor.
Great movies! Never crowded. Wine at the refreshment stand, in your own reusable glass. --Fred
Great old Americana theatre. The employees are very nice and pleasant. The prices are very family friendly unlike the corporate run theatres.
Beautiful theater! Our first visit was for Tomb of Ligeia, which was featured during October. We took our friends who were visiting from Norway. It was a two hour drive from our home. The theater was immaculate. Their new bathrooms were spotless. The concession area was well stocked and only a fraction of the cost of other theaters. The main theater had very comfortable seats with plenty of room. Many other older buildings have uncomfortable seats with little leg room, not here. The event was fascinating and watching Tomb of Ligeia with Vincent Price and Elizabeth Shepherd on the big screen was a memory we will never forget. The Q and A session was mind-blowing, and the behind the scenes stories was just what I was hoping for. Even at two hours away, we will certainly be back. We loved it here.
Saw the 10,000 Maniacs. The venue has come a long way. Great place to see music. The sound quality was very good and theres not a bad seat in the place. Its very personal and upfront. A great historic place that was preserved and you can walk right outside to 20 something different beer and restaurant joints.
Couldnt be happier with the recent renovations, additional theaters, limited release movies, local beer, and featured posters by local artists. This place is the heart of downtown Phoenixville, and you get to enjoy a drink and take in a film. 5 stars all day every day!
Visited The Colonial Theatre for the first time recently to view The Report. I was extremely impressed with the quality and beauty of the theatre. What an absolute gem. I live approximately an hour away and wish that my community had a similar venue.
Its history, the cozy atmosphere
Great day. Watched Casablanca on the big screen 78 years after it came out
Love this theater especially now that they expanded into the next building.
Great sound, seats area little narrow for my wide bum.
Not only a beloved historical icon, but also a genuinely great theater. It shows both new blockbusters and older classics, as well as special events. The people working there are all incredibly nice, the theaters are all beautiful, and you can volunteer there if you want to be a part of history and the community!P. S. The snacks arent crazy overpriced either
Now is not the time to go sit indoors and watch old movies with people who may or may not have the virus.
Reasonable ticket and food prices. Can get wine and beer too!
Great holiday party today put on by Phoe ixville Federal and Trust. My grandson had a great time! Thanks to another great year of holiday fun to the community...
Quaint but with all of the modern amenities you want. Love this theatre!
Wow, wow, wow! Nitty Gritty Dirt Band live on stage at the Colonial. What a night of music! Think I died and went to heaven. Thanks for hosting such awesome shows, Colonial!
Beautifully restored. The seats were comfortable, no springs in the behind. Nice concession stand. Very clean and pleasant staff.
Beautiful vintage but up to date theater. Comfy seats, large, clean restroom, bar, and nice employees.
What a gem in the middle of Phoenixville. We are so lucky to have this special theatre in our neighborhood! Please support by taking in a movie here!
Love Colonial. Comfortable, affordable and limits previews and other pre-movie junk.
Amazing venue, its a shame more local independent theaters arent around anymore. Ask the ushers about The Blob.
Along with being a solid option for entertainment in Phoenixville, PA with year-round movie screenings - in a cool historical building (that is air-conditioned) - the Colonial Theatre puts on other programs such as the amazing Blobfest.Blobfest is a festival celebrating The Blob movie, especially the scene where everyone runs out of the Colonial Theatre screaming to escape the slow moving pink blob. They even reenact the scene every year as one of the most popular events of the festival. #LetsGuide tip: If you want to participate in the reenactment, buy your membership to the theatre months in advance to ensure it is processed before tickets go on sale for the event. Tickets for the RUN-OUT sell out in minutes. (I really wish they would consider adding a second RUN-OUT event.)Here of some pictures from the 19th Annual Blobfest (2018): The Blob Turns 60!
Old fashioned theater. Nice place, not stupid prices at the snack bar.
Fantastic historical landmark!! The expansion is beautiful and the theatre represents film lovers all around the world. One of the best indie theatres around montgomery county
Not a large oversized theater. Very comfy and not a bad seat in the house. I love supporting the small businesses. We saw the movie A Star is Born. Also they have great shows and music concerts there. We have seen many great artists over the last few years.
Love an old theater. They are doing restorations so hopefully it will be back to its original grandeur soon. The yearly blondest and annual airing of Christmas Story are highlights but this place is all around a gem. Check it out!
Very cool theater but seats are crammed.
We were here for a Matt Kearney concert. The seats were tight, but the staff and the sound quality were excellent
Havent been lately but i hear it is fixed up
My first time ever! Beautiful old theater! We saw The Wizard of Oz and it took me back to a simpler time. Good snacks.
Great experience! This was my second time there. Both times were great. The employees are very nice, the atmosphere, and the look are very nice. The snack bar is reasonably priced, and you can get an adult(alcohol) beverage with your candy and popcorn.
Lovely historic building showing new and classic movies. Blobfest, Rocky Horror, Monty Python and all the newest releases. A gem in Phoenixville!
Great night out, The Colonial is a perfect place to see live entertainment.
Great old time theater! Definitely catch a show or movie here if you ever get the chance
Went to Blobfest to watch a friends movie. The new concession stand was awesome and the theater is gorgeous as ever.
Quaint, historical theatre. We go here for all of our movie going experiences.
The Coloniel is one of my favorite venues, great movies, great guests/performers and located in a wonderful town...it has it all!
Theatre run by non-profit organization and made famous as the theater in the original 1950s The Blob movie. I saw a film in the small downstairs viewing room. Cozy and comfortable. The tickets and snacks are cheap for a theater concession stand. Wine, beer, hard cider, tea & coffee are available. Cheap parking is available in one of the municipal lots--suggest the lot next to the police station and walk up under the bridge to the theater. The town center is walkable and Valley Forge is nearby for you history fans.
First date with a love. MAE + CJZ ive made it to Ukraine now to prove my love for u! hope you see this someday if i never see u again!
My favorite movie theater with all the best movies! I love the childrens programming, and classic movies on Sunday as well as the music programs. This theater is a treasure in our community! And its worth a visit! Also you can get beer, wine and great chocolate bars!
Always a great experience! So worth the membership
Fresh home made popcorn and a beer to enjoy great movies.
A lovely well- preserved old movie theatre with ALL the best trimmings... some screenings, like Vertigo November 25, 2018, even include music on the fabulous organ that rises like a phoenix right up through the stage floor! We will be back as often as possible!
Just a fun relaxing place to see a movie
This is the best place to go to see a movie. I especially like to watch movies in the old theatre. They also have great events like the the blob run and festival.
Excellent young organist played multiple lovely Christmas songs and then the organ was lowered into the stage to watch the movie! This theatre is not only gorgeous inside, but is also a non-profit organization, and makes downtown Phoenixville shine out! You definitely want to experience this place!
This theater is the best around! Cheaper tickets than other theaters, plus cheap concessions, wine and beer, and a beautiful historical setting. Also, Ive never seen a bad film there. Theyre all well done, and they often show really poignant cultural films that other theaters dont show. Love them!
Excellent theater! Loved seeing Downton Abbey in this historic treasure.
Gorgeous theater, amazing bathrooms, delightful staff!
Great mix of live shows and film.
Best local theater for first run movies and classics. Also, a stage for comedy and live music events. Intimate, charming and personal small movie house of years gone by. Plus its the home of the Blob!
Old fashioned theater, great service and anbience
I had never been to the Colonial Theater before. Now its my favorite theater. Definitely the best theater in the area.
Great classic theatre! Has been there I believe since 1903 has a nice balcony as well
Great nostalgic theater. Live stage performances and great movies from the past.
I had been to the colonial before its remodel, but last night was my first time since the renovation. It is beautiful! We were in the downstairs theater, which was the perfect setting for a scary movie. If you want an alcoholic beverage, then its just $3 for a reusable glass + the cost of the drink. You bring the glass with you when you go back to skip the $3 cost. We will definitely be back!
The recently expanded, Colonial Theatre is located on Bridge Street in the heart of downtown Phoenixville. The venue is comprised of the 117-year-old Colonial Theatre and adjacent Bank of Phoenixville building, which houses two additional theatres and patron amenities that include a bar and concessions. Open seven days a week, and the Colonial offers new film releases daily at a minimum of nine screening times. Cult and classic movies, children’s concerts and movies, live concerts, and comedy for adults, and special events and program series are additional
Beautiful theatre, fantastic people, awesome shows and entertainment
I cant believe it good price for food and classic movies 5 stars.
Lofely little movie theater. Very comfy. Apologies for playing the piano, cant help it. Professional pianist. Forgot movies might still be running...
I recently worked a catering job there. The staff was very kind and accommodating. I hope to go back soon and experience it as a guest!
Looking forward to our visit
Great Sound system!!!Plenty of parking less than one block away from the theater
A Phoenixville landmark. I catch Groundhog Day and Its a Wonderful Life here every year.
