Hats off to the first governor of the great state of Arizona. George W.P. Hunt was a true pioneer of America’s history. He helped build roads and prisons. He also played a huge role in securing our water ways with canals in Arizona. This is a very well preserved monument that is a relatively easy hike. Go explore!

Very easy to walk through as my foot heals. For such a popular spot to walk there was surprisingly little trash other than dog waste bags from people who just couldnt handle taking care of their own pet.The views were very nice, and almost impossible to get fully lost in. Parking was free and had both walking and biking trails. For a novice hiker this was a great spot to come and not too far to travel to.

Excellent place for a quick visit. Easy climb from the parking lot closest to the monument (gradual incline with rock steps built in) and great views of the park, the zoo, and a lot of the valley. My kids were excited to see some of the wildlife, like ground squirrels, birds, and rabbits.

Beautiful scenery. Great place to take pictures of the valley, downtown Phoenix and the Phoenix zoo. We usually go hiking at the Hole-In-The-Rock in Papago Park and drive over to this side for the beautiful views. Never too crowded with visitors or zoo overflow. Lots of facts about the tomb are posted as well. Very nice place for family activity.

One of the BEST views of Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, Sky Harbor, Downtown Phoenix, Tempe Town Lake ect..even the Phoenix Zoo Giraffe exhibit. When entering the zoo look for the signs to PICNIC AREAS, then look for the signs to Hunts Tomb. From the parking area its a short walk to the top, and theres plenty of space to take in the views of the valley. Be sure to keep in mind gates to enter the park close at 7pm

If youre into history and wanted to say you saw it, you should go. It was FREE, so it was worth the walk up since we were already in the area. Probably wouldnt plan a special trip just to see it, but theres enough nearby. Papago Park in general is beautiful in January (at least)!

Love the view from here. It is better than from the home in the rock. You can see all of the valley!

When we had the grade school field trips to the zoo afterward we always climbed up to Gov. Hunts Tomb. The whole Valley can be seen from there.
