Limited parking, old equipment, TOO pricey. The pool is too small and limited to 3-4 people.
The gym is fine. However, I had paid for 4 half hour sessions of personal training and was excited to begin my weight loss and strength journey. I had one session with a trainer after which we scheduled to meet again the next week. However, I had to request to reschedule the second meeting (gave her at least 3 days notice) and she said she would text me the times. It has now been over two weeks and I havent heard from her at all. So then I tried a second trainer. We played phone tag and the last message I left for her was that Id be available any time during her availability and all she has to do is let me know what day/time worked for her. This second trainer also did not call me back. I gave it one day more day then called her but was unable to leave a message this time because her VM was full. I talked to one of the front desk ladies and she told me to call yet another trainer who is supposed to be very responsive. So I did - but also had to leave message on his phone - this was last Friday evening. It is now Wednesday evening and I have not heard back from any of the three trainers that I contacted at FitLife. Yesterday I wrote to the gym about this experience and asked that they refund the personal training fees (minus the fee for the one session I had). I requested that the owner look into this problem and respond to the email. However, I still havent heard from the gym either. I am stuck with the annual membership so I will continue using the gym, but I have no confidence in the professionalism and integrity of (some of) the folks who work here. If you need personal training, look elsewhere. If you have any customer service issues, this is not a place where your questions will get answered - unless your question will result in them getting money - then the response time is pretty stellar.
Great gym, clean and knowledgeable staff. I love the pool and hot tub. The classes are nice. Love the diversity of the people here. Reflects the amazing neighborhood. They also have a PT Area that has the most knowledgeable therapist and advanced techniques in PT. I highly recommend both.
Excellent PT Staff!! I have been coming to Fit Life since July for PT for a badly broken ankle that needed surgery. Though this is my first/only experience with PT I have been so impressed with the staff. Chelsea who does land therapy, and Madeline who does aqua therapy have been marvelous. I have made great progress and am almost back to being completely functioning, I cannot say enough about their patience, professionalism, and overall great care. Not to mention their sunny dispositions and genuine care for their patients.. no just me.Not that I would wish anyone a serious injury such as I had, but should you need PT, I cannot recommend these therapists enough.
Excellent, knowledgeable staff that gives you the best therapy for all of your ailments.
My experience at Fitlife was troubling.I met with Manager Erin P. on a personal matter by her request.Manager, Erin P. didnt have the decency to return my messages.I felt that I wasnt worthy of a return call. Some of the reviews are good because Fitlife has good equipment? But, I question their sensitivity towards people of color! Some of the other reviews had the same concerns.
I had a terrible experience at Fitlife in Mt. Airy. I originally joined to have private training sessions. I found a trainer that I liked very much and worked with him every week for well over a year. Then one day he was gone. I got no warning or heads up from Fitlife and Ive called repeatedly to discuss refunding my membership and remaining sessions, and they have never called or emailed to even follow up and discuss. While there are some nice people who work here, the management doesnt seem to treat its employees or customers with respect, and I question their ethics overall. Caveat emptor
Of the gyms I have belonged to, this is the best. Great staff and friendly people. Thank you Fit Life.
Ive belonged as long as it has been open, and love it. Parking is really not a problem if you figure out what the busiest hours are, and then gauge that with when the nearby restaurants are busy. Ive never had to drive around the lot more than three or four times, and that has been rare.
This place is excellent!
It is very friendly and professional place
What I like:Attractive aestheticallyMany classes, good teachers, good weight and other equipmentCalming and thoughtfully designed natatoriumAs with the neighborhood, racially and age diverse members and staffWhat could use improvement:Occasional parking issues at peak timesTowel availability, and the hooks dump towels on the floorLocker room needs to be power washed and a little refurb, and need new yoga matsWould love jets that hit Upper TrapsWould love even more classes: Yuna Ball, Barre, Dance...Suggestion for childcare diversity concerns: Check w parent members and try coordinating work-outs (possibly fewer parent age members of color) and approach management/owner w concerns?
I joined this gym because it is 5 minutes from my home and offered babysitting services. After I joined whenever I called to schedule babysitting for my grand daughter they never had a spot for her. Whenever I was in the gym I didnt see any other children of color in the babysitting area. They dont seem to be very accommodated at this gym and that is why I cancelled my membership.
The pool and hot tub are great, and the reason why we chose to come here... Not something youll find at most gyms. The staff are very friendly.
Great local gym with a wide range of classes.
Too pricey, limited parking and not very accommodating to people of color.
