Best place to learn music. the teachers are full of patience, thank you curtis
This place is the bomb if you’re looking for musical education at the highest level. Fantastic professors and extensive facilities that are well maintained. Both the old building and Lenfest sits right in the center of the city with easy access to all amenities. Their Summerfest program is also simply incredible. A very unique environment that puts you with fellow talented musicians with just the right amount of rigor and excitement. RECOMMENDED
Great student recitals Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, check out website.
Please add my father, Walter Hautzig, to your list. He graduated from Curtis after a year in Palestine at the Jerusalem Academy, which rescued him from the Nazis courtesy of Emil Hauser. He was in the same class as Leonard Bernstein. Walter Hautzig had a long and magnificent career, and was the first American artist to perform in China after government relations were opened. He deserves recognition. He passed away 3 years ago, on Jan. 30, 2017, and was forever grateful to Curtis, which gave him his Steinway piano.Thank you.
I love the Curtis institute..it is by far the best placed Ive worked. The staff is friendly and easy to talk to about any situation thats work related and or personal. The student are very talented and respectful.
One of the rare hems in Philly. Staff is always friendly, venue is great and the music is awesome!
Amazing institution. My sister loves this place.
Great musical college I do the carpets in the dorms as well as their common areas so its clean and maintained frequently
There are multiple free recitals here throughout the week. I attended percussionist, Sijia Huang’s graduation recital and thoroughly enjoyed the music by her and accompanists. I plan to attend another recital during my visit to Philadelphia. I recommend attending a live performance, having dinner nearby, and taking a stroll through the park.
Curtis Institute of Music streams live Friday Evenings at 8pm USA Eastern Time Zone. The music covers both vocal and instrumental artists from the conservatorys concert halls. Curtiss composers, conductors, musicians and vocal artists one will fine superlative.
I brought my kids on a tour. Nice, friendly, staff, teachers and administrators. If only I could play an instrument
Beautiful place and gift to the gifted and espiring artists. P
I, as a professional pianist, really like this place.
A beautiful and inspiring place to play music!!
This is a sparkling mixture of modern and historical buildings that create a wonderful environment to learn, practice, perform, and enjoy music!
Amazing school of music! Beautiful facility and courteous, attentive faculty.
The summer fest at curtis provides an excellent 2week camp for strings players.
Didnt actually go inJust love that this is the heritage club from trading places
Beautiful student recitals. Impressive young musicians. Free!
Great place to see new classically trained music artist!
Dont be fooled by any rankings out there that say this school is not number 1. Curtis is second to none.
Great spot to enjoy music
Attended a student recital that was free. Absolutely phenomenal musicians!
Amazing recitals by some of the best talented young folks in the world
We enjoyed concerts provided by seniors. The scope of talent was excellent. And we heard from composers we might not have heard from ordinary.
Looking good, Billy Ray!
The best people and amazingly talented musicians. They have free concerts during the year that you should be sure to check out if you love classical music.
I go here for my music lessons and its a very beautiful and calm space.
I studied with Marianne Casiello for many years. Ten years and she was a superb teacher who was on faculty at Curtis. She had a tremendous instrument herself and she was just a tremendously good teacher. Bel Canto master. I keep up my Opera training but for years was singing both Opera, classical and popular music. I write my own music. (most styles) Virgo Rouge is my name on the net.Curtis has a great reputation because of their high standards.
Poor assessment of talent
Curtis is an active music school in a converted 19th Century mansion. Stop on to get information on free concerts (and not free) and see how the wealthy lived in an age of style.
Beautiful place
UNEQUALLED!! THE TOP MUSICIANS STUDENTS -& THEIR TEACHERS- OF THE WORLD. FREE CONCERTS. ELITE+++
The kids that were there are all very talented and the school was very professional and I had a great time while I was in Philadelphia.
The students here are some of the most talented musicians in the world. The free recital series and Curtis Symphony Orchestra performances are not to be missed if you live in Philly. However, ticket services is incredibly unreliable--on several occasions they told me they had shipped tickets, but I hadnt received them. They are also very lax about communicating with their customers, so try to pick them up in person if you can.
Fantastic set of performances open to the public.
Great music loved the afternoon teas and rittenhou se square environment was aChristmas time treat very festive part of the city
A Philadelphia treasure! Students at Curtis come from all over the world, and are highly gifted and professional. In addition to free student recitals, the Curtis Orchestra is a thrilling group, with new conductors at each performance. Roberto Diaz, the Curtis director, has introduced many ground-breaking opportunities that include carrying his students on international concert tours, famous chamber groups in residence at Curtis, and a panoply of videos on the Curtis website. Bravo Mr. Diaz! ...and a huge bravo to the enthusiastic and accomplished Curtis performers.
Excellent!
Amazing music from young world-leading musicians. Come for the 100+ free concerts every season at this historical institution of art making.
Amazing place for music; they have student concerts often and is a great place to appreciate the classics
