Penn relays fan. Annual ticket holder. Love the competition and the memories. Read carefully the limitations of bag content permitted for entry. They could do better at the entry gates with the long lines and wait time. Come early.
This iconic stadium sits right on the outskirts of Center City Philadelphia. So that means you get great views if the city! I mean so good that its worth while to visit at 6 am in the morning just to see how different the view can be from 6 pm. Im not event talking about the events held there. From ivy league football to all the sports from the University to the historic Penn Relays this place is amazing!
Oh wow! the history thats contained within this stadium is unbelievable, the Penn relays, along with the history of the school itself gives you goosebumps. And to watch our son play football in this stadium and win is awesome ️ and bringing along our Amish family to watch their first football game is priceless. Congrats Dartmouth football team! Love you Tanner ️
Watched University of Philadelphia play Cornell University. It was a good environment. The fans were friendly. Enjoyed myself.
Historic venue now undergoing massive renovations. Its Ivy League football but still entertaining
Ok, I am biased since went to school here. The stadium is historic, kept in good shape (they currently are doing some sort of construction / refurbishing) and a lot of fun from which to watch sporting and other events.
Iconic. If you pause to look around, youll sense the history almost as old as the game of football.
Franklin Field legendary field of University of Penn the Penn relays and football games great place to come to with your family to cheer on family and friends or just catch a good tournament
It was great going to support my School Edwin Allen running in the Penn Relays and represent Jamaica! The experience getting into the field was awful, security was ridiclously telling people they could not bring in their purses and any other bags could not enter if not clear. Our bags were clear bc we checked the website. Even with doing so, security still took measures to still restrict items outside of what was mentioned on the website as okay to bring. The lines were very long and people were being turned away some of which came on bus trips!!!! I told security then I am going to write the school because they need to know of the mistreatment and how it was ridiculous to be experiencing the negativity from staff!!When leaving the stadium I along with others went to go and retrieve our purses and to our astonishment found that the purses were disrespected just as much as we were and thrown allllllll over the ground! Smdh... I could not find my purse as well as many others. Im sure some did not even know the purses were laying there on the ground. I mentioned to a cop standing there that I was going to make a report about it and they said we should because it was out of line for staff to have done that! Here is a picture Penn State doooo better! Train your staff to be able to effectively handle a crowd and make sure to not make up rules as they go along and then disrespect the patrons who paid good money for tickets to support the event! I could go on and on but I will restrict my details from this post and save it for my letter to the school. This was the only thing that made the experience horrible! Jamaica as always came to the Penn Relays and showed out in the most positive ways!! Great runners, Great races, no violence, pure love and warmth flowing thru the stands, and we even got to be on camera for a documentary for the school of the Penn Relays!! How dare they take our purses as women, (what woman leaves her purse) so why would they expect us to not bring our purses into the stadium and these are small purses, personal purses, those that chose to leave their purse we had to hold our things that we could in our hands and stuff pockets those that could do so. Others were turned away and had to stand in the line again (not a fun experience) if they had somewhere to go and leave their purse. People and groups were broken up and held up! It was disastrous and Penn State really needs to find a better way to handle their entrance procedures into the Field. I frequent events and never experienced such disgusting tactics, and rules and treatment of people! There were no drugs no weapons just pure fun and great people coming to enjoy the races!... And we proved that!!!!! Penn State replace my Michael Kors it was a gift and jad sentimental value which I also stated to the security that took my purse so I could enter the field. I had 2 young children with me so I could not just turn around try to locate the bus I came on if the driver was still even sitting where we were dropped off blocks from the stadium and then try and fight the crowd again so I elected to leave my purse with them in order to enter the field after having waited in line for soooooooooo long. This is the picture I took to show just one side of where purses were. A security team memeber informed me if I did not find my purse on that side I could go on another side and purses could be found there too... Thrown and sprawled alllll over the pavement with no REGARDS!!!!! Shame shame shame... Check out my picture.... Utter disgust!!!!!!
I always have a great timecwith mynfamily at Penn Relays, Jamaica, boop boop!!
Inquired about renting the field for a regional bowl game years ago and the woman quoted me $61,000 for the field alone. They were $20,000 more than Lincoln Financial and $22,000 more than M&T Bank Stadium. Laughable. We ended up getting a package deal from Towson University and the hotel near by that was less than this proposal for 4 days of food, housing for 80 players and 4 days use of the field (Dec 27-Dec 30).They are in la la land.
This place is AWESOME!! The sports events are definitely worth the WATCH!. Stadium was totally packed for the Penns Relays. An enjoyable time was had by all. Returning next year!
Come ye, who wish to revel in the sweat and festivities of our great oval. Many laps await you. Enjoy the bountiful selection of overpriced yet filling shakes from Brysi, a fountain of refreshment indeed. You will surely revel in the chance to watch, nay even participate, in the great sport of track and field. Beware the folly of newcomers, and know that lane 4 be the true 400m lap.During the great Penn Relays, count yourself among the company of many enthusiasts and Jamaicans. They will befriend you. Feast as you witness many skinny young people complete many seemingly arbitrary laps, and larger more impressive young people complete less distance while looking better.
Very nice field. A lot of rich history and an enduring future. Excellent staff customer service. You can tell they receive training.
One of the truly icon stadiums in the country! So much history here!
Love it. My nephews home field. Within a walking distance from Amtrak
The security made TSA look good. The Penn relays have been doing on since 1895You would think they would know how to handle security. There is no excuse for taking 1 hour to clear security
Attended our first Ivy League football game. We had a blast! The tradition of it all is so much fun! Pretty sure there isnt a bad seat in the house. Only real complaint is that the sound system is horrific. Had no idea what they were saying throughout the entire game.
Omg I just love this place I will be there next year
Fun getting to see West Point games
Beautiful great place to train and just run. Check out website for public hours. Also check out Penn Relays this month!
Franklin Field nothing but history. The Eagles won a championship there back in the day. The Penn relays are held there. What more can I say history history thats Philadelphia baby.
A beautiful track and field owned by The University of Pennsylvania. It isnt exactly public but if by chance you fine the gate open you can probably use the track. Be prepared that to get kicked off.
There were no rails/metal handles or something to hold on to on stairs going to second level. The seat numbers were erased so it was hard to locate our seat. Tickets to the event did not explain where in the stadium we were to go. Lines for bathrooms were ridiculous. Food lines were crazy and you couldnt carry somethings inside. I was a bit disappointed as I drove 4 hrs to get there and it was not what the hype is at all. But the event was not bad. Organization at the stadium, facilities and food needs improvement.
Nice. We loved this place. The stadium is old but thats what makes it so special and unique.
Big enough stadium. Had a great time watching Penn Relays after a hassle to get in because of Big bag rules.
It was a beautiful and awesome experience..My baby participated in the relay....Nice to see so many people passionate about the sport...
It was great. It lived up to my expectations. Hope to attend the games another year.
Well organized parking is always a issue. Good weekend.
Great place to watch a penn football game
Aint nothing like going to Franklin Field to watch Phillies play in the Eagles play at the stadium thats awesomeness
Theres something magical always about Franklin Field. The stadium itself and the fans, amazing!
Has seen its best days but very historic.
Reminds me of the past history of Philadelphia sports.
Amazing historic facility. If you can see an event here, do it!
Loved the energy of the crowd and the competition was awesome. Looking forward to coming back.
Listen up if youre looking for a neat little adventure: go all the way up to the top stands and into the old announcer booths at the peak. Its out of use but really cool to explore. I wont spoil anything, but just know it feels strange to be up there
Excellent track & field location. Tix prices can get expensive thou. Fyi: No umbrellas & clear backpacks are inforced w/o a locker for your stuff.
We were there for the CYO Penn relays. It is great they run this program every year. The history of the place makes it all that much better. Theres not many very old venues around anymore.
Penn relays was the bomb!! Loved it! Will be going next year! You should too!!
Classic Ivy League setting reaping with history and a brand new track for fast times. THIS REVIEWS FRANKLIN FIELD AND NOT PENN RELAYS WHICH IS IN DIRE NEED OF SOME NEW BLOOD OR A FULL TRANSFUSION AND CLEAR THINKING. Too bad parking at large events is very limited. The stadium bathrooms are very up to date for 1954 and the top decision makers should be forced to use them for a week or more until they update. Getting there by car is fraught with risk of highway traffic jams. By all means never make my mistake to take South Street as a shortcut to I95 and bypass heavy highway traffic unless you have extra half hour to sightsee the many many many blocks of one slow lane festooned with frequent red traffic lights admiring the charm and boutique shopping eating and drinking faux old establishments or want a detour to finally decide for yourself who wins the greatly publicized war of the cheesteaks at Pats and Ginos wid of course. Brilliant marketing...I suspect they are secret loving first cousins. And take the cannoli.
Lovely place n nicely arranged convocation ceremony
If youre planning on going to Franklin Field it would be in your best interest not to drive. Apparently, it is a high traffic area with or without any special events. I was at this historic place for the Penn Relays. Loads of seating. Just be prepared for lines to the toilets.
Awesome field saw the penn relays. Huge stadium
Best walking track and field full of green area. Walking with slop gives excellent exercise. Surrounded with beautiful jungle with River, Extremely silent and can do meditation.
Penn Relays r always a great event to attend!
A great place to run and exercise and great for a nice jog
It is nice. I was there to see my surgeon and the only thing is that I walked there from Market street when I got off in the morning. Other wise the doctors are very friendly and not to often will you find a doctor or surgeon who cares and will tell you the truth.
I dont know to be honest
My visit brought back many good memories
Love it. I attend the Penn Relays so I only visit one time a year. They should have more events through our the year. Iconic
Easy seating, they accommodated family members with a disability, were professional and friendly, helpful. Was a great time had by visiting family! thanks! And congrats to all graduates of 2018!
It sucked. Not enough security and very poorly manage. I have coming here for years and Penn Relays Adminsration still does not know how to manage a crowd.
Ive been to Franklin Field many times over the years.Still the greatest stadium I have ever been to.Now as a student at Penn, I love it even more. The energy is electric, no matter what event.Franklin Field is not only home to amazing history, but the field is also home to enormous tradition. It remains to be a clean & safe place for family of all ages.
Everyone is so friendly!
Very poor organisation for the penn relays wuth regards to entry and what is allowed
My first experience and Im loving it.
Not the best but not the worst
Not the same things changed over the years
Ivy League tradition...looking forward to the completion of the renovation
Awesome, historical stadium!
Easy to navigate. Clean restrooms and seating. Need more food kiosks.
The one place you can find up coming track and field stars coming out of Jamaica.
You can feel the history in this stadium! Great experience for my first college track meet.
Whats not to like at this genuinely historic place. Whether attending football games or the graduation ceremony we attended earlier this year, its always an experience! Go Quakers! Looking forward to the ceremony for our next son as well!
The quentenstial Ivy League stadium. Beautiful, historic, love the toast tradition.
Penn Relays! A Philly tradition!
They have done such a great job with the renovations. Great walking and biking, public restroom in great condition. Pretty dope fields to play/look at with alot of natural beauty
Great place to see a game just not when its on tv
Penn Relays is a great event.
The staff couldnt have been more friendly and accommodating! And Harvard trounced UPenn!
Very nice weather very nice crowd and the Penn relays was very exciting Ill be back next year
Philadelphia landmark you have to visit. So much history.
2018 Penn Relays was awesome! Daughter runs for the Quakers. What a great team!!! Love the culture!!!
The facility is decent but parking is a headache plus the meet organizers could do better with posting signs, lot of confusion at the entrance to the stadium.
Beautiful structure!! I am so grateful I was able to watch my child run on the track for Penn Relays!!
Penn Relays is an amazing experience must go for track fans.
Penn relays is the time to be here
Legendary field
Not enough merchandise stands lines were over an hour wait. Stale hot dog rolls. The old place is historical.
Nice venue for High School & college games. Grounds are maintained fairly well. The general area can be a bit overwhelming during Penn Relays! Lots of people and terrible traffic in an already busy area.
Attended the Penn Relays. I really enjoyed myself
Its Penn Campus!!!....Need I say more?
It was a spectacular experience.
The seats are covered in bird sh#t. Bring wipes!
