First time novice potter here. Took a beginners class. I loved my experience. So rejuvenating and invigorating. More importantly i left my ring here which I took out since clay can get a bit messy! Guess what I had given up on finding it till I get a call from the studio saying they have it and will ship it with my finished product. How amazing is that.A very few places that value art for what it is. You actually see passionate people around this place making art. I am glad I went in here. Will be back for more! Thanks all at the clay studio for such a fab experience, keep doing great work.Fun fact: they have a mini museum of sorts at the reception, it’s great to watch the amazing work on display there.
I took a beginner class here and loved it. Its really a reasonable price considering that in the beginner classes you get unlimited use of clay and can come in anytime during the open studio hours. I will be back again to take the same class again to improve on the skills already learned. I cant wait for their new building to be built which should be an impressive space to showcase the talent of their resident artists and provide amazing classrooms.
Campos loves The Clay Studio!
Stopped by last year when in town for a wedding and took a planter home - it also has a nice exhibition space.
I love this place so much! My boyfriend and I have been to two clay date nights and they are so amazing. The staff are so wonderful and always willing to help, plus its such a fun activity. It actually makes you want to sign up for classes because its so rewarding to walk away knowing you actually made something with your hands! Definitely a place worth checking out!
If you want to buy pieces, this place is a little pricey--but you pay for quality. I live near Seagrove, NC ( its THE pottery place on the East coast, for people who arent pottery nerds) and have seen a lot of excellent work. This place is...different. Some of it is functional, nice, workaday mugs n stuff, but they also have just dynamite tiles. And, if you *do* happen to be a pottery nerd like me, the staff is more than happy to talk shop. A curator/ teacher talked to me for a good half hour about the techniques an artist had used to produce their pieces, which was really cool. Small, but definitely worth a visit.
My husband and i took a class here for the 1st time 2 weeks ago and it was amazing! The instructor were fun, patient and helpful. It such a great experience we got so much for what was spent. Best of all, the classes are not overly crowded, so you get the assistance you need. Definitely going back!
Great place to make and buy ceramic art. Classes for kids and grown ups are very well done.
Ceramics take very long to fire. I understand this is “normal” but for someone dabbling with a new craft, it’s highly frustrating, and made me not want to take another class once mine was over. Biggest problem: one of my pieces also got lost.
Went to a wheel throwing workshop this past weekend, it was amazing, the instructors were very spirited, funny and interactive, showing you the amount of pressure, posture and even breathing to employ while doing pottery, its a total body type of art and I will be back, hopefully to take the classes. The only request I would make is more colors to paint with, the choices were quite limited, but still, thats very minor. :) Be careful people who are newbies like me, this is very addictive! :P
Date night was so cool. Free drinks and snacks plus a cool keep sake to take home.
Fantastic place for beginners and expert potters alike. Also, great kid-centered family programs. And a great shop if you want to buy higher end ceramics.
Good morning, as a current art student at community college of philadelphia I instantly reward this studio an incredible five stars because its a awesome place for anyone who has a great interest in presenting their own creativity to the public and everyone here is very friendly, helpful and pleasant to talk to. I visited the clay studio this past Saturday with my ceramics 2 class and already I was enjoying the walk through tour within the studio and anyone can actually touch any ceramic artwork only in building 137 but not building 139, it was cool and my professor showed us her studio on the fourth floor if Im correct art her artwork was very cool, to me they actually appeared to be a combination of both a tree and a star amazing metaphorically speaking. The owners are also very friendly and helpful and there was a brief lecture that took place there about the masterpieces, that was awesome as well and on my way out, I donated a dollar as my way of helping the studio remain strong and creative it made me feel good the rest of my way home and hopefully, I visit again really soon because the experience itself was indeed remarkable and my professor and class are amazing too.
First Friday, 10/5/2018. Woman working there (selling drinks during their open house) was wearing a shirt that says Men have made a lot of bad art. Another employee, at the front desk, was wearing an identical shirt with a political message, so I assume this was approved and perhaps organized by the Clay Studio. Disgusting mentality for an art studio. Is this where you want to shop or learn? I will never be back.
Amazing work with all of you guys!! Nitza, Josie, Jennifer, Farrah, Alejandro, Roberto and Tim. Best experience ever Thank you
The staff at this are amazing. The level of respect they show there customer is beyond. Did date night and the staff was very helpful and really into what you are doing. Very hands on experience that you must try.
Large clay studio with great classes (according to my wife, who attends). Only gripe is that they can take a while to fire pottery from classes.
I thought the place was just ok. I expected a lot more different art inside. But I did like the idea of it. So that made up for what I didnt love so much
I loved my date night!! Dominique is a nice teacher.
Date Night..Less instruction than a YouTube video. 45 minutes to figure out how to do it. Minimal help if you struggle. Very disappointed and very frustrated.
Combination of gallery space, store and studio. Weekly classes are great, a lot of fun and great teachers.
Went for Date Night - instructors were amazing; and my wife and I had a spectacular time.
Friday date night with some girlfriends was super fun! The staff were awesome - we enjoyed working with Nitza and Daniel!
I ordered and paid for (via credit card) two items on December 21st. They have not been sent, but my credit card bill shows they were as does the email the sent me for my order. I have sent them two emails and left one telephone message about this. I have received no response to any of these.Today I sent an email to every administrator/official they list on their website about this. Still no response!
The classes are great. The prices are decent. The facilities are good. Could use more glazes.
Kendall helped me so much!!! Had a great time
Attended a exhibit put on here. Fascinating displays of creativity with unique perspectives on presentation and lighting.
