The ABSOLUTE GREATEST MOVIE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! This is a hidden gem in Peoria, BETTER than the MISLEADING IMAX movie experience at the AMC theater!!! BETTER THAN IMAX??? YES, IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE ITS BETTER THAN THE IMAX IN PEORIA. The screen is ENORMOUS and the resolution was beautiful!!! The sound system of 14,000 watts described online had me in disbelief as I am very familiar with auto and home audio sound systems. I have 2000 watts pounding in my trunk, i did not believe they truly pumped 14,000 until I felt the vibration humming in the air before actually hearing the sound effects, seeing them perfectly in sync with the action on screen!!! Im not from Peoria, when i am there its because my daughter is fighting cancer and our trips are usually boring and filled with talk of disease and medicine. Im so VERY THANKFUL to give my daughter an experience that I probably could not replicate myself.... we got a private viewing of a blockbuster movie of the greatest quality picture and sound in the most advanced theater ive ever seen. Check out the pictures. This theater wasnt necessarily built to sell tickets but to be a lasting tool for educational purposes for the school kids that take field trips and family outings. They had the forethought to build the most advanced technology now so it will serve the museums purposes for many years to come. And ordinarily they show educational films and documentaries but on occasion they show big name Hollywood movies. Keep your eye open, i promise you, it is worth the effort of checking out. Your welcome, enjoy!!!

It was decent. A lot of things need repairs and upgraded. Science stuff kind of neat. Kids enjoyed the museum some pretty cool history for Peoria Illinois. Worth a visit if you need something for the kids to do. Especially cool for people near or from the area and travelers alike. It takes about 2 hours minimum for a good visit.

The only museum of its kind in America!! Art, Science, History, and Achievement all under one roof!! Several exhibits at any given time. Large travelling shows (i.e. DaVinci, the Titanic, Ripleys Believe it or Not, Legos, Dinosaurs) are constantly rotating through the galleries. Plus theres an incredible Planetarium - Fun fact: Peorias Dome Planetarium was the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere! State of the art! Ultra-high-definition intergalactic experience that will blow you away! And dont forget the Giant Screen Theater! One of the largest screens in the Midwest! 5 stories tall by 7 stories wide! You wont believe your eyes! It shows educational films, Hollywood classics, and new feature films! Always something to see... literally! Check out this world-class Museum on your next trip to Peoria! Youll be glad you did!

Edit: they museum contacted me and thats what I like to see when I have a bad experience. T-REX coming summer 2021. Ill be thereI understand that its covid season BUT, the price online shows $11 you get there its $18. Then most of the exhibits are closed so we were literally there about 7 min. Definitely not worth the time or the money currently. Feel ripped off!

A good place to spend an hour or two. The theatre is comfortable and you can buy snacks and drinks like a regular theatre. They had several good choices of movies. We saw Apollo 11.The hands on area was entertaining to us older “kids” as well as to the young ones. The exhibit this time was LEGO. It’s amazing to see what they can do with them.I give it a 4 because every area costs $. The website wasn’t clear on that.

I felt that this museum lacked a lot. A lot of the exhibits were closed which was frustrating. I kept thinking there was more to see, but there wasn’t. We left after an hour and a half. For $64 for a family or 4, I would have rather went to Chicago. The positive? The building is very cool and the outside sculptures are really good. And the staff is really nice.

This is a wonderful place to visit in Peoria. Parking is available and is free. There is usually a couple exhibits that are there for a limited time, so be sure to check the website for the most current info. The planetarium is superb. There are usually different shows so again you need to check the museum for info. The museum also has an Imax cinema which has shows.

The Peoria Riverfront Museum is a must-see! If you are a local, be sure to be a tourist in your own town, if you are visiting - put this on your to-do list. The current featured exhibit, Mythic Creatures explores the realities behind famous and not-as-known myths. The best part is impossible to appreciate from pictures: all the mythic creatures are presented TO SCALE! And its not just dragons, unicorns, and mermaids, theres the griffin, and Pegasus and... HA! Go see it for yourself! The exhibit is utterly absorbing - parents with kids and older adults alike were in this exhibit alone for an hour or more. But the featured exhibit is always that way! Peoria has a world-class museum for the price of lunch in Chicago - AND its free parking. Come see what plays in Peoria - you wont be disappointed!

Great rotating exhibits that keep things fresh, which is good, because the museum itself is pretty small and could get very old on your 3rd or trips. Great section on Peoria history. I wish it would have mentioned the Peoria Indians more and tied into the Peoria, Oklahoma reservation they now reside on while we enjoy their fertile homeland. Perhaps a future exhibit.

Nice DaVinci display, but there were a lot of liberties taken as there were no authentic pieces. Some has been enlarged, wooden recreations of ideas that had only been briefly sketched and never actually made, etc. Ive seen many of these actual masterpieces so I was a bit underwhelmed. Although the Mona Lisa replica had some amazing history and insight with it, it also wasnt properly sized or given the important feel you get when you walk up to the original. I enjoyed the exhibit as there were areas to learn more than I knew, I was just expecting more quantity and a bit more authenticity. If youve never seen the works, then it would be any creators choice to visit and soak up the actual depth of work. I was just hoping for more.

Love this museum. They offer all sorts of events and movie showings. The riverfront is usually a nice place to walk on a sunny day as well. My recommendation: if you like movies you have to check out the giant screen theater. Its 2 stories tall and 3 stories wide. They dont offer all movies (its a museum remember) but the ones they do have are incredible. The best 3d youll get. Ticket prices and concessions are very reasonable as well. A rare treat, but certain a deal thats sweet. As we all know, experiencing classic movies can be difficult task when so many have gone overlooked by streaming services and retailers. If they arent carried by libraries or video rental services, then we can sometimes feel lost while searching for our next great classic fix.Luckily, the Peoria Riverfront Museum has managed to make an event that combines the thrills of classic cinema with the presentation home theatres cant compare to. Attending their Art of Film presentation on Alfred Hitchcock has been an experience Im quite satisfied with. The event is hosted by pop culture scholar and author Marc Eliot and our host remains enlightening despite some minced words and not always clear explanations, but the community setting makes the experience more than worthwhile.Be aware though, if youre attending for the sake of solely seeing the films then the price of $20 may be a deterrent, and I can hardly fault you for finding the prices of concessions to be higher than their worth but the film and discussions themselves are worth the price of admission. With 3 more films to look forward to, so far, this festival looks to be endless fun for all.
