Always interesting and entertaining. They are consistently updating and changing things. My kids have been coming for the past few years when we go on vacation and it’s a great place to hang for a couple of hours and they are 100% occupied. The staff is super helpful and friendly. It’s very inexpensive. We always visit the Mess Hall when we visit Pensacola.
This place is truly great for all ages! Just keep in mind that some activities may only engage really young children for only so long before they are ready to move on to the next thing, however, there is enough to do for all ages. I went with our nieces ages 6 & 14 & our 20 year old daughter and all of them had fun. There are optical illusion things to try out, a little room with an abundance of slides to place under a microscope that shows you what you see on a screen on the wall, lots of activities even within this room. The bigger area has different activities that vary from wind tubes, table with water, sand, & rocks so our girls were able to create a dam, marble run was the mist time spent with the youngest two & loads of fun, & activity craft table with an abundance of options of crafts you can do as a family! Visit their website to see complete listing of activities and for only $10 per person (they also have military discount) was amazing for this SUPER educational place to go. One hour is NOT enough time to get through everything and we will be going back. Next time Im taking my hubby because this is all right up his alley, but seriously just so much fun. If you like to watch how this is made or things that explain science-related facts, this is a fun, hands-on way to learn at ANY age. Its 1 floor, room for stroller, tables/chairs to sit down if need to rest, & friendly/helpful staff. Seriously, so fun!
If you get a chance to take your kids, do it. That was so much fun
Many fun learning activities. Children are learning without realizing it, because they are having so much fun. Have visited on a couple different occasions they always change the activities up. Enture family can enjoy and learn together. Staff is caring and knowledgeable. Can be very busy, best when it is not as busy.
FUN for every age. Really neat, hands on projects. Unique place to have a party for any age. Helpful friendly staff. Easy access restrooms. Just felt like a kid while I was there. haha. Its hard to describe all that they have. M.E.S.S.=math, engineering, science and stuff. It took me a while, but I finally got it. hahahaha age 2 to 92 can have an enjoyable time at this most unique business.
Love how the menu changes up so frequently. It can get busy, but there are a lot of different areas to try out. As an adult, Ive had fun experimenting with my son and building all sorts of things, but as hes gotten older I tend to get my own kit and only help if he asks me.It would be cool to have a teen themed event sometimes.
Nicole was awesome! She was such a big help without us asking. She interacted with our children so well. Our time at the MESS Hall was improved substantially because Nicole was there. Thank you, Nicole!
Love this place! I took my girls last summer and they didn’t want to leave.
We went on a Tuesday afternoon, and no one was there but my 7 year old daughter and me. She had so much fun! We will definitely be going back there!
When a please charges for the parents to come in and supervise their own children, I take issue with that. Its $10 for everyone, child, adult, doesnt matter. I wouldnt have gone in, but every child in this hall needs supervision. The workers gave limited attention when absolutely necessary. Only on of the workers engaged with the children. While the museum on the whole has instruction, its not self explanatory for the child under fourth/fifth grade. There were lots of neat, hands on experiments, but the explanations were verbose and got lost on my younger crowd. My daughter sustained an injury playing with the scarves in the wind tunnel. She followed the scarves and ended up hitting her face on another exhibit too close, that pulled an inch of skin off her face. She cried loudly even after I comforted her, as she was truly hurt, and not one of the workers came over to ask if she was alright. This place can be a fun family field trip, but be prepared to pay and stay close to your child.
Have been twice on school field trips a d finally had the chance to take my boys, niece, and nephew back. We had a great time, spending two and a half hours. It was nice to spend as much time as we wanted at each station and we enjoyed working on the MESS KITS! The staff was super friendly and helpful. This is great place to exercise childrens STEM curiosity.
Not quite what I expected for my money and was bored and ready to go fairly quickly
They are a great place to learn and play. They are also part of a chain that you can visit throughout the U.S.for free with your yearly membership. Which is great for more places to go and do on vacations that dont cost extra. We have been to other great places just for the price of this great places membership. My kids love to visit the Mess.
My grandchildren love this place even the 2 year old. The people here are very kind and helpful.
This place is AWESOME! At first, I was a little thrown off by the cost for adults, as well as the kids, as most childrens museums only charge per child...but Im gonna be honest... I played as much as the kids! This place is so cool. They have literally thought of everything. The girls working there are great. They were helping my kiddos with the mess kits and guiding their learning when I wasnt directly next to one of them. As a teacher, I see so much learning here but to the kids, its just a cool place to tinker with stuff. We paid general admission but then applied it to a family membership bc we know we will be back a lot! I was really impressed with this place and cant wait to take the kids back!
A great place to explore science with the kiddos...or just a group a friends. Nothimg I saw there neede a computer science degree to operate. Just good ole fashioned brain power. The set up is like a cafeteria and the staff is great.
Loved it; will return. Staff marvelous!
Excellent science center for young minds. Took my niece there and spent 2 hours jumping from on science experiment to another. My favorite was the microscope and all the slides that are available to study up close and touch. Great place for the learning kids
Mess Hall is Fabulous!!!
The kids loved this place. Such a cool place to learn and have fun. We will be back
There are so many amazing ways to explore. There are things to build, explore and fun kits to create. We went with kids (2, 9 and 13), parents and grandparents. No one was disappointed. We were there for almost 3 hours and would have loved to stay longer, but we had somewhere to go.
I got a free membership from a friend. The kids loved it. A lot of really cool experiments. Granted, I c an see it only being a one trip place. Its a small facility and we did everything in about 1.5 hours, minus the mess kits. Still pretty fun though
Whether you have an hour or four this museum is the perfect way to spend your time. And youll learn some fascinating science!
Great inclusive Learning Experience with entertainment
We loved our time here so much we bought a year pass.
A great place to explore at your own pace. Theres plenty to experiment with, the only downside is, that many challenges come with a solution suggestion shown right away in a picture next to it. Loved the wind tunnels.
Great place to take the kids for hands on science learning especially on a hot or rainy day. Part of ASTC, so you can use your membership at other museums around the country.
Amazing experience. The staff is so attentive and involved with the kids making sure theyre learning in a safe, fun environment. Theres plenty of exhibits to tie up an afternoon and we barely got into the MESS kits. $8 was an excellent price and more than worth it.
Kids love this place! The staff is always nice and helpful! Great place for the kids to learn and explore!
Had such a great time. Very interested and educational while having the best time
Great idea, engaging employees! My 3 year old stayed for 3 hours! We ONLY left because we were getting hungry. My husband and I could have spent all day here. Engaging way to get your kids thinking scientifically while having fun. Also have special events for adults and kids throughout the year!
Great place to bring the kids and relax and learn
The kids had a blast. There were so many different things to explore from creative, to science, and much more. There is something for everyone.
I especially enjoyed the marble run wall. Admission is a little pricey, but definitely worth it!
Pleasantly surprised by this little science center! We were on vacation in the area and decided to stop here. We have a membership at our local science museum, which gets us in to any ASTC museum for free. (Id highly recommend getting a membership if traveling with kids. It has saved us so much money on activites while traveling!) When we first pulled up to MESS, we were a little worried, and even after walking inside. It is very small compared to other museums. We ended up staying for 4 hours! My 7 and 5 year olds wouldve stayed longer if we had time. The adults were all entertained as well. We did explored the exhibits that are out, and then the very helpful staff introduced us to the MESS kits. The MESS kits work kind of like a library, check out a kit from the staff, play with it, then exchange it for another one. So many fun, and educational activities for my littles! Loved the set up of this museum. And bonus, there were not many people there at all. It was a great place to get out of the sun and away from the beach crowds. Highly recommend!
Great educational experience! Both our girls, 11 and 4 found a lot to keep them occupied during a rainy day.
Small but educational outing for all ages. Cant go wrong with hands on science.
It was fun and lots of stuff to do
We had such a great time here one rainy day in Pensacola! It is walking distance from all of the fun of downtown and my 2 year old and 4 year old were thrilled to have such a fun place to play while dodged the rain. The staff was incredibly nice and the place was clean and full of fun things to learn from and play with. Would definitely go again!
Wonderful staff and lots of interactive fun!
Fun activities for the kids. Great way to spent time with your kids.
It wasnt bad, but I expected more for the price.
My 10 year old grandson loved it
The kids liked it, 4 and 5 year olds, and we enjoyed it. We had fun for about an hour and a half. Definitely worth the 8 bucks for the kids but not worth parents admission price. Both my husband and I thought parents or adults shouldnt be charged which is why we gave it a 3. We were charged 40 dollars for an hour and a half of play and I think it would have been worth it if only the kids were charged. We had a 17 year old with us as well and it wasnt really geared towards his age.
Went there with my students such a fun place to learn and explore. Would also be a great date night!
Brought both of my sons for the homeschool days and that absolutely loved it! We will be back! :-)
My son (10) loves this place! The homeschool class is worth the drive and the fee.
Super awesome for children s interested in physical science. A good start
I have taken my 4-year-old daughter twice and she has absolutely LOVED it. Both times we attended the Saturday morning class for preschoolers and we decided to stay on and get messy after both classes. Highly recommend!
Fun for the whole family! A 2 hr experience with tons to explore
Science and play. What a winning combination! Who doesnt love the Mess Hall??
Dont expect a typical museum experience--its even better. As an adult, it helped me step back and relearn how I can better help my kids interact with ANY environment through science. It amazed me that being a scientist seemed to come naturally to children--but I had been taught many social behaviors that hindered that process. I wanted instructions, had an urge to ask permission to explore (despite having been given it), desired validation and approval. Am I doing this right and did we do a good job? This was so much more satisfying when we could drop those expectations. Children gravitated to concepts that interested them and explored tangibly using the materials and knowledge at each station. They moved socially, often accessing each other for assistance which provided social practice. Even the baby in our group explored by pushing a stool around the entire room, overcoming obstacles, feeling the friction via vibrations. Adults supported even the baby in enriching experiences instead of saying stools are for sitting. Wish we had one in my town but in reality--every place is a MESS Hall.
My 4 & 5 yo loved it here. Its basically a big open room with tons of different activities which each have a different lesson. All of it is hands on, and the parents will HAVE to explain each activity, the people who work here do not. So dont bring kids here just to set them loose, its not that kind of place. Its a place for learning.
A really great experience for children (ages 4-12) and adults as well. If you have a child in public school, you may be familiar with the acronym S.T.E.M.(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). This is a great place to do hands-on STEM activities. A really fun and educational experience.
I was at a conference here. Nice and spacious venue.
This is a cute place for ages 10 and under in my opinion. My girls are 11 and they were over it 10 minutes after arriving.
Happened upon the MESS Hall while in town for a cheer competition, and it was a smash hit with the kids! 100% interactive for all 4 of my kids from 11yrs down to 18mos. I highly recommend it, and would have a family membership if we were local.
Is a nice place to visit for people of all ages
Great hands on museum full of fun activities for the family.
Fantastic place to take the kids and great programs for kids and adults especially when you get a family member ship. Lots of things to explore and encourages creative thinking. I encourage everyone to help this place grow!
We were in town on vacation and they have recipical benefits with our science center back home so we figured we would try it. My 3 kids( 7 yr old, 4yr old and 2 yr old)and my husband were occupied for hours. I had to drag them all away when it was time to go check into the condo. Great way to send a rainy afternoon :)
Fun sciency kid friendly place.
Loved this ️ very organized and hands on!
Great place for families to come enjoy learning about science while having fun! We are so fortunate to have a place like this in Pensacola!
My son absolutely loved his visit. Asks at least once a week if we can go back. He loved making flying creations for the wind tunnels.
I visited the MESS (math, engineering, science, and stuff!) Hall for the first time today. It is such an exciting place! Children can develop their own science and math projects. The entire space has themed stations, as well as a menu of kits that can be used for specific projects. This is an ideal place for school children and families. Kudos!
Fun for adults also.
My family (mom, dad, sister, and son) and I absolutely enjoyed the MESS Hall. There are several experiments/activities for the kids to choose from. I love the idea of picking experiments from a menu and taking the materials back to your table on a tray like a real Mess Hall. It is a great place to visit if you have kids.
Lots of fun for kids and adults
So much to do, not enough time! So interesting!
Very good location, I’ll visit again.
If I could leave less than a 1 star I would. This is far from a science type museum. Definitely NOT worth $8 per person. Highly disappointed in the lack of actual hands on experiments.
I think this is a fun place for younger kids. My kid is 11 he enjoyed it however I think younger kids would enjoy the interactive activities better.
Great hands on place with a knowledgeable and friendly staff.
The mess hall is an awesome. Love the creativity of it and learning experiences.kids always want to come back.
My husband, my dayghter and I had a great time there and cant wait to go back! What a great place!!!!
We had fun. Very interesting place.
So much fun! I highly recommend the homeschool classes.
Great caring people
Not for kids over 7 the cashere said this is for any kid who likes sciences the laidy was liying. The highlight of it was hitting rocks together this place is a rip off and you should not go there
The MESS hall was great for our family. We have 2 kids (ages 5, 8) and they loved that they were able to go and do on their own. I think the concept for the MESS hall is amazing, and I hope that more families get memberships and join so that the funds are there for it to continue to grow! I have a membership at the McWane Center in Birmingham, AL and honestly, I wish McWane had a section for hands on experiments like the MESS hall has! This is a great place for homeschoolers to visit throughout the school year as well!
Fun place to visit + great educational place for people
Great science fun for the kids! Lots to see and do
This places cleark lied to my face and said it is age approprieate for any child who likes science and no refunds i went in with my kids and most of the exhibits where closed it took my kids 5 minutes to do everything so 5 minutes of fun for 40$
Awesome place for kids
Nice place
Really good exhibits
If you have kids and live in the area, getting a membership should be #1 on your list of things to do when you move here.
Not for kids over 10.
Not what I expected
Super fun for the kids
