We decided to browse at SB reefs just to see what they had to offer. We were impressed the things they had inside and amaze at all the variety of fish to sell. Now we know where to buy fish salt or fresh water.

We loved all of the variety of salt water supplies, fish and corals in this store. The prices were fair and the store was put together in a neat way to allow you to view things in a unique way.

My go to place for fish. They quarantine and medicate fish stock before introduction to their displays. Always helpful, has a good selection of fish, CUC, coral, and products for both fresh and salt water.

Was looking for aquarium plants. All new they had were added to an aquarium that was infested with a black bacteria. I do not understand why this was done. I would have stored the new product in a clean (free from bacteria) tank. Making room for this vital practice. I wont be back.

The staff was nice and helpful for my needs. The aesthetics of the inside and outside could be better... Felt dirty, but Im happy with the service and my fish.

Mike is a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to aquatics. He is always willing to help and go the extra mile. Prices are pretty equal to everyone else around. Definitely a 1 stop shop for any aquatic needs.

We’ve been to every fish store in town and finally decided to purchase from this establishment. We picked SB Reef because their friendly staff is very knowledgeable and because they have the widest selection. I was so thrilled that they had the Pom Pom crabs and the rasboras that I wanted. Alaina (I hope I spelled it correctly) made my experience extra special with her enthusiasm and friendly knowledge. Will update my review later reflecting the quality of life stock. But as of right now we will definitely be back.

Id never been to this place prior to last week, and I have to say, Im impressed! The place is definitely small, but staff is super helpful and friendly. Although, it seemed like they needed more staff, because even with a small rush of customers, the staff were rushing doing things and were running everywhere, yelling across the store at each other. A little chaotic and overwhelming. However, they have a ton of tanks and different specimens. Even when Im not intending to buy anything, Ill go and just window shop, and end up buying something anyways!

Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable about all the products and fish sold. They sell you something and it doesnt work depends on the situation they give you your money back. You get very good information on your tank and fish and its not about the money for them.

Helpful and nice staff and the building has so much potential, but instead you walk in to the shop and see shelfs of over priced decor and small driftwood selection. A nice tank when you walk in and some better lights for the place would go along way. It feels like an old basement. Freshwater aquariums well taken care of, currently, but the plants however are plagued with black beard algae that can easily take over and destroyed the look of a home aquarium, a hard algae to get rid of completely. This is probably due to the lights being on for show a lot. Disappointed because it has potential and is the only non chain store in the area that has freshwater, but just isn’t being marketed right and the building isn’t being utilized to its max. Still better than a Petco or petsmart... but I’d love to see improvement of the floor

WOW! I am impressed! I went in there today and bought fish for two different tanks and left feeling so amazing because the girl that helped me was so amazingly knowledgeable! Its locally family-owned and I highly recommend SB Reefs for great prices and great service!

Absolutely the best salt water store in town. They were more than generous with our newbie questions and had a wondrous selection.

The place could really be amazing! But the tank an employee are filthy bought some fish 5 fish an 2 of them died.

A friend of mine mentioned this place and I decided to check it out. Glad I did! They have a huge variety of freshwater and saltwater fish with better quality than most big box pet stores. And they actually had a fish Ive been looking for that no other stores had. When I buy fish from chain stores, they usually start dying off within less than a couple of days, but so far all 10 of the ember tetras I got are doing great! Will definitely come back!

The ONLY and BEST aquarium live stock shop that I go to around the area. SUPER helpful and knowledgeable staff. Always willing and ready to help. Every time I go in, I always leave with something. Have the best oddities and rare fish! Just love this place!

We tried to use SB Reefs instead of a local chain store to support local businesses. Huge selection of fish but bad advise. We tried our own online research first but were coming up with contradicting facts. We stood and had a conversation with the staff instead. They were so confident and seemed to know what they were doing, but I guess we should have taken the dead fish in about 30% of the tanks as a sign to not trust their information. Bought some items, all from SB reefs, that we were advised could coexist happily. Ended up with -$60 and a tank full of dead fish. The water was fine before, as we waited and had the water tested. Will not be going back.

Really awesome selection of fish, both salt and freshwater!!!! I was really surprised/pleased with the amount of freshwater fish they had. They had some beautiful Bettas set up in a pretty little display, and they also had several different types of freshwater shrimp, which are exceptionally hard to find physically in the Pensacola area!!! Apparently there will be reptiles also for sale at some point, but they were not there when I visited. Still highly suggest.

Nice clean local store. Employees are knowledgeable and helpful, but without hovering over you while you browse. I made 3 purchases (food and live sand). In all three cases the prices were much lower than the big chain stores. The food (fluval bites and omega 1 flake) were even cheaper than Amazon. Love being able to support a local business and saving money at the same time.

The tanks looked much healthier and everything was much cleaner than it used to be. It seems like they are doing well.

It was an okay store... I was disappointed by the coral selection. It was overpriced and for having such a large room dedicated to it there were not any frags there worth stopping for. Freshwater fish had some variety, but be careful a lot of them had ick.

Fantastic fish store! They have a fantastic stock of coral, saltwater fish, freshwater fish, aquariums and aquarium supplies. The staff are awesome too! I watched Mike help a customer drill a 10 gallon tank in the store one day, and Collette always has tome to talk fish with me. I cant reccomend them enough.

Stopped in on 8/14/19, first time being there. The pretty blonde (Im bad with names) that helped me was knowledgeable and very friendly, I was able to introduce her and the other 2 ladies to a large cichlid called the umbee, my Jaguars and flowerhorns are doing great! Great time and I will be back!

If you are looking for a big box store atmosphere and experience, this is not the place. This is a family-owned and operated aquarium store that specializes in saltwater fish, inverts, corals and equipment. Mike, the owner, and his family are friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to help any hobbyist. They take complete care of their customers and treat folks like family. Even if you dont make a purchase, they are happy and willing to talk to you about aquariums and offer any advice they can to help you with any problem you may be having. If you do buy from them and are not satisfied, they will do whatever it takes to make your experience right. Seriously, if you want an impersonal, industrial-like atmosphere and experience, go to Petco or Petsmart. If you prefer dealing with folks who know and care about the hobby and you as a customer... SB Reefs cant be beat.

Unorganized!!This place isnt your local corporate ran chain pet store. That being said youd expect better customer service an better organization with it being a such a much smaller store but obviously not. I stopped here close to a month ago during the week since I was told thats when this place wasnt busy. Being new to the hobby i wanted to ask lots of questions. The employee that i talked to was acting like she didnt have time for me an kept doing whatever when I was talking to her an answered my questions likei was stupid or dumb. I felt offended with her but Im sure she would be just as much if I commented on her choice of haircut style! Unprofessional. But was told that they could order whatever I was looking for of course. Decided to try since other stores cpuldnt. Gave my contact info to the employee and ended up coming back that weekend when i was told it would be in. It wasnt there. i stopped by a couple of times after that still not there. However the employee that told me they could order whatever an took my cell phone has called me two times already to ask if I got what I ordered?!?!? Does she not remember?! A whole month later?!?! Probably did not even bother to order it. Obviously really unorganized an cpuldnt keep track of this that an the other. And Rude. Two stars instead of one because the store an tanks looks really nice. Alot of selection, but really unorganized and rude employees.

Great service, variety of stuff, great place

We liked it. Staff were kid friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. They have a wide selection of saltwater and freshwater fish as well as a room dedicated to live coral and rocks.Edited to add: we went in about a week ago (early April) bc our aquarium was going through a string of sickness (which seemed exacerbated by another local stores suggestions). I took up probably an hour of their time explaining my issues and asking every question I could think of. They were so nice and gave me a straight shooting answer as to how to get my tank healthy again. Were on day 6 of treatment and all my fish are now thriving. So thanks sooo much!! We wont use another shop for our aquarium needs.

By far the best fish store in Pensacola. Mike, Colette and their family are very friendly as well as knowledgeable. We have been going here for all our aquatic needs since they started the business and have never had a bad visit. I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try.

Much to my disappointment, for some reason my previous review has disappeared so I am reposting my review:I waited roughly two weeks before writing a review just to see if the advice I was given from an employee here, actually proved true. To my surprise, and pleasure, it was! They were not joking when they advertise as being the most knowledgable in the area! So, I stopped in on a Saturday and had a conversation with Eileen in the small freshwater area of the store. In desperation due to a crash in my tanks water chemistry, I had lost everything. Fish, plants, the whole nine. Even though it was quite busy and filled with other customers, Eileen took the time to listen and talk me through everything I needed to do, what chemicals i needed to buy, and afterwards, answered every single one of my questions about the water plants that I liked, and actually ended up buying. She even took the time to put them into the right bags, the right way, so they wouldnt end up snapping or breaking on the way home! How fabulous! Best of all, she recognized me when I stopped in a week later to buy new fish, and even asked how my tank was doing. I am definitely going to be coming to this place from now on! Even though, I was told that the employee that I deal with only works one day a week, the wait is more than worth it for the fully personalized and professional service and experience that no other big named stores can offer! If you go here, go to see Eileen on Saturdays! I will be boycotting the big named stores from now on! Support local small businesses! Your experience will be next to no other!!!!!

We have been coming here for a little over 2 weeks. We r new to the hobby n all the employees here have been amazing with their knowledge n kindness. They have an amazing selection of saltwater fish n coral n also a freshwater room. Lots of extra supplies as well.

This is not Petsmart. Has a lot of nice items for both salt and tropicals. Did not have many live plants or nice tropical fish really. Lots of plattys and goldfish and small cheap fish. Offered to order what I asked for though. That was nice. Had nice selection of fossilized coral. Still worth checking out since aquarium shops are about nonexistent.

Fresh water fish were pretty rough looking but everyone was nice and helpful. I know nothing about salt water so I cant comment on that. Looking at the big show tank makes it worth the trip.

Very experienced and knowledgeable staff, with an expansive collection of aquarium hardware and supplies, as well as an impressive range of freshwater and saltwater fish for sale. They definitely have everything you need to start up a new tank, or maintain an existing one.

I wish I could give more stars since everyone in town highly recommended this place for any special orders of exotic fish Id been looking for, but when I walked in, I was completely overwhelmed. The store is extremely over crowded with merchandise. Even the front checkout counter was crammed with small aquariums and what seemed to be clutter.One employee was just sitting behind the counter with huge headphones on and absolutely wouldnt look up from her phone despite me greeting her as I entered (probably couldnt hear me anyways), while another employee in the freshwater section appeared to be almost breaking her back, sweating, inbetween cleaning, arranging things, and helping customers. I felt so bad as I watched her run ragged all over the small room, I didnt even bother to ask questions. Several of the tanks appeared overcrowded, with more than a few dead fish floating around, and others looking quite sickly. Some very cool odd fish were mixed in with other regular more common fish, and you basically wouldnt even see them unless you were really looking super hard in each tank! Despite this the store still appeared in disarray, quite dirty, and you can basically smell the mold and old tank water the moment you step inside. Im not sure if its on account to the building being old, but the whole store appeared that it lacked the cleanliness and organization that you would expect when dealing with a walk-in customer base in aquatics. So, perhaps theyre more client and service focused, I suppose.The saltwater section was quite impressive. Several beautiful coral frags and interesting fish. They have a massive sw tank in the very back, that youd think should be in the front for show. But overall, the store has decent prices, but is definitely lacking in spacing, organization, and cleanliness. The staff was either doing too much, or not doing anything at all.

Updating my review. This is the best selection around the area when it comes to corals. The fish selection has been hit or miss. The frag prices are slightly higher than youd pay online, but its understandable youre paying to get exactly what you want right then.

They have really stepped it up in their freshwater section. Fish were healthy and the selection was impressive.

UPDATE: 1/16/19Went in yesterday, and their selection is VASTLY improved. Freshwater room has a ton of selections and great, healthy looking fish. Had no issues getting questions answered or finding an employee. Purchased several fish! Had a price issue that was fixed quickly. I cant wait to go back again in a few weeks!!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ive been in 4 times, yesterday most recently. I know nothing about saltwater but enjoy browsing their fish. The freshwater fish room is set up nicely, but each time Ive been in there, many of the fish are dead or dying. I understand that things happen, especially when fish are shipped, but each time its been the same thing. Maybe the saltwater selection gets more attention. I want so badly to love this store because its locally owned, but I cant justify spending money on fish that come from a tank or system with numerous dead or dying fish? Theyve not been open here for long, so Im hoping after several more months the freshwater fish will improve. Also, any time I want to purchase freshwater fish I have to go and find someone to help me. The past 2 times I spent about 15 minutes browsing in the freshwater room and no one greeted me when I came in and no one came to ask if I needed help. I had questions yesterday about the freshwater puffers but couldnt find anyone to ask. Nice store, good location. Just needs some improvements. Maybe time will help!

After todays visit I have to change my review. Its time to make a few updates. The first being my lighting. I thought I would shop a local brand vs ordering online. The unfortunate thing is SB Reefs does not even stock their own brand. Im also looking to get some cleanup crew. They had plenty peppermint shrimp... I intended on buying 10 today. I asked if their was a bulk price... Some places give a couple bucks off or a freebee if but so many. Mike, the OWNER, come back with a snarky remark.. I could raise my prices then give you a bulk discount!. I asked a simple question and a professional no would of sufficed. Meanwhile Im waiting for the young guy who said he would be right back to bag some up for 10 minutes... I decided I wasnt waiting and would go look at skimmers, as I need to update this as well. We discussed the skimmers and once again I stood waiting for someone to get a tape measure to see if the skimmers would fit in my existing sump... I walk over to look at the sumps, something else I need to update to a more efficient sump... To see the owner walk out the store telling his daughter bye... I thought he was going to get a tape measure. This place has always had the Im better and my stuff is better at a better price attitude but I have continued to shop here. After about a 8 month absence of hobby shopping this on, which could of been a profitable trip has completely turned me off from ever stepping foot in SB Reefs again! Between fort Walton and Pensacola their are plenty of other shops with excellent service!

Great ppl yes but they dont know the correct info on the fish they are selling. I bought what i was told a siamese molted eel. I got home was so fascinated with him i wanted to learn more about my new eel. Well i goo g.j led the name of eel that was on their store sticker couldnt come up with nothing. I searched and searched for 3 weeks, i couldnt come up with nothing about siamese molted eels. Not even a pic of my eel. I finally took my eel in a small tank yo petland. They helped me learn that he is a freshwater moray eel. They helped me learn alot about my eel in 20 minutes..... THANK YOU PETLAND!!!! Go to petland and talk to chase or Heidi..... They are totally awesome and know their sh!t. Get better educated on what your selling sb reefs. Nice stock nice supplys but the ppl are not up to speed with yheir fish info

Went in to get some freahwater fish. Better selection than any pet store i have been to. Staff answered my questions and I got some awesome fish. And can we talk about how great the prices are. Forgot to ask about return policy incase of fish death but lets hope I dont need to find out.
