This is an independent theater that highlights artists’ who go beyond “mainstream” productions or artists who want to showcase their different artistic side. The plays here are totally worth it especially for the serious theatre lovers. It’s a very intimate venue and the audience will feel very much part of the production. Just a note on the parking, it shares the Metro Parking building.Enjoy the venue and the plays!
The theater is beautiful and offers a variety of plays and other cultural and educational experiences. There are summer programs for kids and opportunities to volunteer. I purchased a season pass several years ago and have been volunteering every since. I have never been disappointed. The shows and the actors are all of the highest quality. I plan to keep attending the performances for many years to come.
I went to watch a Frankenstein play. I enjoyed it and Im glad I sent. The theatre is great with wonderful acoustics. Parking is ample. Nothing negative comes to mind. Im a big fella but I was able to sit comfortably next to strangers without smothering them.
Great place kinda hard to find. On back side of building there is free parking look for sign... If sign says no theater parking go around corner! Park, Walk down stairs your right there! Nice new clean place and staff are very helpful and courteous. Seats are right there next to stage.
I had an incredible welcoming experience..the ushers where exceptionally helpful, and nice. The play was well done and fun..its my favorite this time of year..I hope other go see A Christmas Carol to start their holiday season. I like too that theres a snack stand and nice lounge.
Without a doubt, the best theater in L.A. sure, you could go to the ahmanson, or the taper, but this is an intimate setting, not a bad seat in the house. The artistic director, and director director (I believe thats an official title) do a spectacular job of bringing classic theater to life and making it relevant for modern audiences. I never miss any of their Shakespeare productions, and Im ecstatic to see theyre branching into some new and risque theater territory. LOVE LOVE LOVE A Noise Within. If youre a theater novice or junkie, its WELL worth checking them out.
Cozy theater, conveniently located. performance by the actors was moving and wonderful, including honoring one of the actors for his lifetime achievement. highly recommend.
Simple parking, great seats, wonderful show. Gem of the Ocean was wondrous and I hope there are more shows in that vain! Cant wait to go again
Amazing performance, storyline telling at its Best. Also, the configuration of auditorium seats are perfect. Parking adjacent to theatre, spacious lobby and concession stand located in main lobby. Bravo to all and House Staff
This is soon of the best theater youll see in LA. The theater is new and beautiful. Its small enough that theres not a bad seat in the house, but large enough to support high quality theater. Ive only been to 2 shows so far, but Ill be going back for more. The acting, directing, staging, and production value are all among the best Ive seen anywhere in LA, including the Ahmanson and Pantages. And plentiful free parking and a light rail stop right next door are incredible luxuries for this town. Highly recommend!
Great stage access for the audience. Pricey. Can be more community friendly by providing more discount nights for college and high school students. Give more access to the common folk!
Saw Frankenstein. A treat from 2 of my best friends. It was totally different from any of the movies and closer to Shellys book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Just attended Alice in Wonderland.. great venue in a intimate environment
Small and intimate venue - theres not a bad seat in the house! Excellent pricing and flexible ticket packages, especially for young adults. Parking is easy and free! I highly recommend - they always have a good theater season lineup.
The service here is fast and attentive! The ambiance is unique and the entire set up is clean. I enjoyed the small intimate venue. No matter where you sat you had a enjoyable view. Theater parking is also free
Small intimate stage. Free parking! The staff were very helpful.
This is a very community minded professional theatre. They host a diverse collection of events beyond their own companys work. The recent selection of Ceiling in the Floor for the Noise Now series was an example of their commitment to listen well and respond courageously to neighbors and peer organizations about topics that are under represented in the arts. Well done!
Saw an amazing rendition of The Glass Menagerie. Very small theater where every seat is a good one. Actors are a resident group, and very talented in interpretation and delivery.
Ergomics--the seats, sightlines, parking--all good. The play--A Christmas Carol--was enjoyable, if not astounding.
Nice theater space. Saw a production of Gem of the Ocean which was pretty good.
First time visiting and really liked it. Not a bad seat in the house.
Great place. Extraordinary acting and experiences!
Its always a safe bet that the shows here will be good.
Professional theater producing wide range of great plays.
A small venue (compared to most) presents as very large during performances. The acoustics are phenomenal. The seats...wide and plush...super comfy and actually every seat in the house is a great view. Restrooms are easily accessible and at least at the time of my visit, were clean!!! The Docents were extremely friendly and welcoming. Something I dont always find at most theatres.
It was a nice place and has nice bathrooms but during the play there is no u intermission so good luck if you have to use the bathroom
A great, intimate venue with consistently good performances. We saw Frankenstein, which was outstanding - very moving!
It was good. I wish they would have updated the dialogue
Great summer camp. My daughter loved it! She want to go back next year
Attending live theater is a privilege; one for which I feel appreciation every time it happens.Tonight was opening night for a new staging of The Glass Menagerie. Moving!
Great experience! Super wonderful cast everyone was great. Teacher took a group to experience live theater to see CHristmas Carol wonderful play. Looking forward to seeing The Argonauts in the Spring. Go it is a great theater.
The best theatre company in Los Angeles.Wish their schedule had more Shakespeare but otherwise just fantastic!
Small venue, great production, very good singing, overall a great place.
Such a gem! Husband and I saw Raisin in the Sun and were floored at how fantastic everyone in the cast was! What a delight! Its a modern, yet intimate playhouse and all the staff were attentive and polite. Especially the young lady at will call, M was so helpful with our tickets. Such a great experience, a must do!
Have seen many plays here and each one was excellent. The theatre itself is well designed and every seat a good one. Very professionally produced plays with outstanding actors! Tickets are reasonably priced. Highly recommend this theatre.
Saw AChristmas Carol and it is the best Ive ever seen!!!!
Great performers, great stage. Looks like basically all of the seating is good. Its a thrust stage, so dont be afraid of getting seats on the sides. Food is decent in intermissions. Stay for the qa if you can
Adequate rendition of Shakespeare with Americanised British English - was strange for a native English speaker from UK
Quality productions and every seat is a good one.
I love Man of LA Mancha. This was a very different interpretation. Really fun choreography. Loved it!
Ive been here twice on field trips and its a wonderful little theater. The people are so nice and the actors are really good. I love that they have a little q and a after for the audience which really provides some insight for the audience.
Nice theater. Easy entry with print-at-home scanned tickets. Great acting.
Perfect theatre space. Wonderful production Noises Off. They also run shows in repertory, so you have options as to which show you want to see. Seats are comfortable, bathrooms large, cast talented and staff welcome. Also FREE parking nearby. Go take in a show! Live theatre is an essential experience!
I have never been disappointed when I attended any production. They have a way of taking a time honored classic and re-creating it into a modern day revelation of what the author had tried to create. Passionate and explosive are the only words I can use to describe the energy of the performers. The visual effects are stunning and more than that, everything always comes together so seamlessly that you become a part of the experience rather than an observer. Its a MUST SEE attraction.
Saw Henry V - interesting sets and costumes. High quality acting. Direction and music was also very high quality. Nice theater with comfortable seats. Easy parking and easy to find location.
Awesome intimate venue. Anywhere you sit is a great view. Love this joint.
Authentic and ridiculously delish
Theres NO more drive in theater only the sign is left
Wonderful place to see a play! Very well kept and organized!
Great experience, would come back again! Nothing can compare their world class performance! Ever!
Nice setting for plays. Saw Frankenstein there.
Nice theater. We saw Noises Off. Good theater for comedy.
Its the best place you can ever visit. There are so many good actors that make the show amazing. If you are interested in acting i recommend that you should go see it sometime.
Five stars says it all. I went on Wednesday to watch Noises Off; staff was incredible and play was amazing!
They have a very creative and powerful performance of Shakespeares Henry V! All the seats are excellent and the audience is close to the action. Parking is easy too. A great experience!
I love this place, if only because opportunities for me to see live theater are rare.
Enjoyed my visit both times. They could improve their snack options but excellent venue
Generally good place, would go again.
Really cool stuff happening here, and SO EASY to take the train from DTLA. gems like this one are... well... gems!
One of the very best productions of Man From La Mancha Ive ever seen ... Truly creative and spectacular. If you enjoy live theater you wont want miss it!
Very wonderful place for true theatre.
Well-kept theater with all seats having great views! Youre not stuck behind a tall person in these seats! The quality was phenomenal. Just saw Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - awesome production.
The show was GREAT... However I couldnt find the restroom lol ...
I saw Raisin In The Sun here, which was a great play that I highly recommend. The venue is small but cozy. I think it helps in a way to get you into the play more.
It was a great experience it has comfortable chairs and has clean restrooms
Wonderful stage in vintage building comfortably places seating
Perfect space to see cutting edge theater with fantastic repertoire cast.
Excellent repertory ensample
This is a first class playhouse in Pasadena. Ive seen over a dozen plays here and am continually impressed by the production, the actors, sets, and costumes. If you enjoy theater, try this this playhouse and I bet youll come back.
Best theatre on earth lol
My six year old grandson went for summer break and is now cast as tiny Tim in a Christmas Carol. Its a remarkable theatre experience in every way
This was awesome..must see!!!
An absolutely excellent Don Quixote. Simple, sophisticated set design, rich, textured performances, tremendous voices - I highly recommend this experience!
Modern stage with good views from all seats. Production values are high.
Our junior class got the opportunity to see Glass Menagerie and it was such a fantastically done show. Thank you guys so much!
The play, Man of La Mancha, was great, though with modern costumes and prison, changed from the 16th century version I saw in 1966. The cast was excellent, except for the casting of Sancho Panza. He has always been a short, stocky man, even in his statue in Madrid, but this Sancho was a thin, young Conan OBrien sort of guy, who didnt have nearly the quality of voice as the other actors. Also, as I was sitting on the side of the U-shaped seating configuration and the actors rarely looked anywhere but straight up front, it was often difficult to see their expressions and, sometimes, to hear. I have often seen plays in the round and have never felt like the actors did not care for the part of the audience on the sides.Lastly, parking was very inefficient. There is a nice driveway in front of the theater, but the small parking lot there belongs to the apartment complex. My friend who drove, a 75-year old woman, had to go all the way across the street to park in a shopping center. It wasnt until we entered the building that we found out by asking someone, as there was no signage, the theaters parking lot was around a block further up. These issues need to be addressed before I will see another play here or recommend this theater.
Great community theater venue.
The temperature in the theater was uncomfortably warm, perhaps because it was a capacity crowd. Otherwise, its a lovely and comfortabe venue
Wonderful performers, wonderful shows!!!
Very good thater company,I try to catch all their plays at least once.Highly recomended, amazing performing arts theater.
I simply must go back for another one.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead was the best production of Tom Stoppards existential tour de force that I have ever seen. Support live drama and be thoroughly entertained!
Super craftsmanship, excellent acting, wonderful seating: what more can you ask for? R&G Are Dead was excellent!
Amazing! Absolutely outstanding play!
Great theater space.
Very nice space, not a bad seat in the house.
Excellent and I was pleasantly surprised
Smaller, intimate, conscientious service. Had a great time.
What a neat theatre, right there next to the Sierra Madre Metro Station! I saw a table reading a play. Such a great and open theatre. Not a bad seat to be had! Great for families.
Amazing will go back
Man of La Mancha was awesome. The theatre is small and intimate. I dont think there is a bad seat in the house.
Very best Classical Theatre in the nation! Plus wonderful education program for both children & adults. Come see Henry V and Raisin in the Sun - both are L.A. Times Critic Picks.
A beautiful theater, not a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful theater with easy parking in the Metro structure in the back. The company is very good and puts on wonderful shows and great performances.
This is a great theater experience! They do mostly classical plays like Moliere, Shakespeare, Shaw, etc. but they do them with awesome incidental music, great acting, and sensitivity to the modern audience. The price is very good for what you get and their new home is very clean and modern.
