Great restaurant with scenic views of this gorgeous golf course. The food is good, especially the chili and their breakfasts. I used to teach at Linda Vista when it was an Elementary School. Sometimes a group of teachers would come here for lunch, if it was a short day. Always pleasant and yummy. I really should learn how to golf. (At this point, miniature golf is my speed).
Excellent city course. Well maintained. Fast green. Tee time was backed up 10-15 minutes. Because of backed up tee time the employee accommodated my group with some range balls. Great service and hospitality. Will return soon.
The greens are in good shape rolling 10.5. The tees and fairways are soggy and standing water in many fairways. The cart lady came by a few times and that is good. The burger in the restaurant is a beast great and tasty 2 plus hands required.
Great golf course, it is always a great tome to play here. The earlier the better because it tends to get really busy after 7 or 8am. The greens are pretty fast and fun for sure. Great variety of difficulties and a very friendly staff. I definitely recommend this golf course if you like exploring new courses or even to make it a regular course to play.
As far as public golf goes this ranks near the top. Brookside one is championship golf. Brookside 2 shorter but still challenging.
Great Hospitality from General Manager Scott & staff. Great condition & pace for a busy Friday morning.
Always love playing here .. excellent condition for a public course
I definitely recommend this golf course if you like exploring new courses or even to make it a regular course to play.
Nice Course Long course greens are fast Fairways were nicely cap food vendors with gouging people.
Had late lunch around 1:30. Service was good. Food was above average. Price was reasonable given quality and quantity of food and the relaxed atmosphere. Their 4 to 8 pm happy hour is what Ill be trying next.
Probably the most pleasant staff Ive ever had the fortune of interacting with. Bring my son here on Saturday late afternoon and they get us right out. Then eat at the clubhouse after the round. I just cant get over how nice everyone is. Such a welcome break from the rest of LA.
Be careful!!! Thieves at the golf course. The hallway between the street and starter doesnt have a security camera. Apparently, these thieves know the security loophole. Do NOT leave your golfclubs in the courtyard in front of the restaurant. Let me know if you lost your clubs here.
Absolute scam. Paid $100+ per person for a VIP dinner before a show. How nice, I thought. How pleasant this experience must be to have dinner at the country club before the concert. Guess what? We were forced to sit outside on the grass in 90 degree weather at a huge picnic table. Yep, the VIP experience is apparently family style with total strangers. Enjoy passing around massive platters and praying your neighbor doesn’t drop one on you. The chicken was bone dry and fish was out of the question (see above, family style outdoors in 90 degree heat. I’ll dodge that bullet, thanks). So my $100 salad and fingerling potatoes had to do. At least for an hour. You see, they had to clear out our group to make room for the next round of suckers. Stay FAR AWAY from this absolute disgrace of an establishment. The one star is for polite servers.
Course in good shape, good variety of holes.
I enjoyed the golf course
Beautiful golf courses
I really want to commend Ms. Vanessa Cortez, she served us at the event given by Jock Johnson owner of the Brookside Golf Club. she was very kind, courteous and went back and forth with a smile on her face as she served each person in attendance. No matter what anyone wanted to change or add to their meal, Vanessa eagerly took their changes and returned promptly with their wishes.Thank you, Vanessa for your great customer service that you served us on 02/29/2020Christy Amerson
Very good to me.
An enjoyable public golf experience. Well groomed fairways and greens. Happy hour in the clubhouse was nice.
The sea bass was overcooked but edible and our chicken was even more overcooked that it was dry and unedible. Only good cooked items were fingerling potatoes and grilled veggies. The best was chopped salad. For a meal costing $125+ you would want better than cafeteria food.
Awesome We Had Business Meeting There EVERYTHING Turn Out Great
Good food for the price, good and attentive service and nice views. Demographic is mostly golf enthusiasts/families.
OH WOW!!! What happened to this golf course?!?! Under new management perhaps? I dont know exactly what happened or if it was just this past Saturday but the course conditions improved greatly. Most importantly, our pace of play was AMAZING!!! My 3 buddies and i were able to finish the round in less than 5 hours on Saturday morning at 10:30 am! Crazy i know!To top it all off, they upgraded their golf carts with comfortable seats and GPS!The bar/restaurant is probably one of the best out of all the public golf courses. Theres always this little grill outside by the 1st tee box on Course #1 where they have the most amazing cheeseburgers and hotdogs! I always see the same very nice Hispanic gentleman who always seems to be loving his job and is always so very wonderful! Not to mention he grills the meanest cheeseburgers and hotdogs!Solid 4 stars but added a star for the Hispanic gentleman at the grill by the 1st tee box of Course 1!Keep up the good work Brookside!
Golf course was in good shape checked in for 7 30 tee time and we tee off at 7 15.
Love golfing here. But this time there was very good entertainment in the clubhouse that was outstanding. This guy did a great tribute to Frank Sinatra that Frank Sinatra would be jealous of. Wow! It made us stay till closing so we ordered more food and drinks.
After all the rain that we had the Fairway was very green but there was a lot of weed, and on the green I dont know what it was either fertilizer or seedings there was a sticky Gray stuff all over the green in every hole it got on my ball every time I have to clean my ball and it was very hard to clean it off and my putter I had to give it a bath when I got home. But overall pace was very good.We fairly good rounding.
A great place for lunch or brunch. I had a Cobb salad that was awesome
Good times...
Our group had confirmed reservations at a players club rate. Everybody in the group was a member of the players club and we all had our membership cards. The Starter informed us that the golf course has implemented a new policy it was only if you had registered through Brookside that they would honor players club rates. So instead of honoring the rate that we had booked online they charged us 50% more, speaking to one of the employees after paying this we were told that there attendance is down almost 100,000 players from 2017. It’s unconscionable to think that someone would take reservations and then not honor the price simply because they had a policy change and didn’t bother informing their customers.. I’ve played this course numerous times, sad to say this will be the last. My understanding is they have new management that in my opinion should be terminated. I don’t know how you can operate a business and expected to grow when you’re lying to your customers.
I remember there used to be a NO CELLPHONE rule on the range. Itd be great if that returned. TALKING WAY TOO LOUD. Some of us golfers like quiet when we practice..... Thanks.
Fabulous location and this is a Public Course. Regarding organizing a golf tournament: If you are expecting a Country Club experience, move on. Our well planned tournament details were confirmed and we had a passel of problems...they neglected to put out our pre shipped and specially designed signage, put other Tee signs on the wrong course...The great staff handling meals were outstanding.
We visit every year to celebrate 4th of July with the family to barbeque, play games and have a good time watching the Rose Bowl fireworks after their event. Its a lot of fun and we get chance to see all the family that wants to attend. We bring a soccer ball, board games and/or volleyball at up to pass the time. Its as great place. We also bring our gas barbeque.
Just checked out the place after running around the track outside. Looks great!
Went to get a drink while walking at the rose bowl. Big mistake. Too busy for the staff on hand to take care of properly. Waited for my drinks and watched others waiting for their food. You know its a beautiful Sunday during March madness staff appropriately. Wont be going back too bad cause I think its a a good location for a bite and or drinks while walking around the rose bowl.
Their cafe for breakfast is a good greasy spoon, although the atmosphere is kinda dank. Decent place.
We sat out on the patio but there is also a large area for indoor seating and a bar. I had a tuna melt and fries, both of which were excellent. Several of us had Arnold Palmers to drink. As you may know they vary quite a bit in quality. These were excellent. With a nice view out over the golf course and nice weather we had a wonderful time. Recommended.
Beware of twilight carts might not be charged almost got stranded twice. Other than that great course. golfers need to do a better job fixing divots
Either course is fun (North preferred), and in a great setting in the Arroyo. The legendary Rose Bowl is always a great sight when waiting to hit. Usually a pretty easy walk-on as a single or twosome during the week, but beware the weekends. Concerts, Flea Market, and of course you cannot play when UCLA football is playing a home game. Both courses serve as the parking lot. However, the groundskeeping crew does an amazing job making sure that the course doesnt get jacked up during that time. Enjoy!
This golf course STOLE $20 from me. I am a member of the golf zing players club and I play this course almost every week. Its not a bad course for a parking lot but it is close to home. The players club is an okay deal you pay a monthly fee and get discounts on many courses. And you get a free drink of choice. Yes you can even get a beer, soda, Gatorade or a bottled water. But not at brookside that only give bottled water. When that restriction happened I thought it was a cheap move as EVERY other course stuck to the rules. But not brookside they would prefer to rip you off. This course costs $50 normal price ( frankly not a $50 course should be $35 all the LA city courses that are nicer than this one but again close to home). But with the players club its 29 (BTW recently raised price ).So I booked a tee time and when I got to the window to check In I handed my membership card as I normally do. The clerk at window in a very snotty tone of voice told me I had to pay full price on course 1 before 11 since brookside was not my home course. He said it was a restriction that brookside imposed in July. I play this course almost every week this has never happed. Not 1 time. Plus this restriction was never posted in the window. Never posted on the Golfzing site never received an email. I asked to get my paid for Discount this time and I would know better next. Nope that clerk (Sean- red headed white kid) was a complete A hole and rudely denied my discount. And would not even give me the water I am entitled to as a golf zing player club me ever. I admit I had some choice words for him due to poor customer service demeanor then he had the audacity to tell me that coursing was not necessary Maybe not but probably better than the alternativeNormally I would have complained to the management and left but I had a friend with me and he is friends with the head pro there so I stopped making a scene agreed to get ripped off and went to the first tee.Prior to this I was telling my friend about the players club and he may want to consider it. Well not now and I am leaving it as well. I doubt I will go back to brookside. It is not a nice enough course to put up with poor customer service and a rude clerk. If he wasnt such a big A hole he could have easily defused the situation but he was just puck who needs to be fired. And Brookside should be removed from the players club.
Love coming down here to walk tne pups when its cool.
Great municipal course for the price. Youll find some top notch competition once you sift through the weekend hackers
Quiet, comfortable, great service and really good food.
Maintenance is getting worse.....
Decent layout course but a bit expensive for a crowded public course
Beautiful club. Restaurant food is great. Has a charming warm atmosphere
Went for a drive in the area. We didnt actually stop in but from what we were able to admire it looks like it is a great place to golf. It was well groomed and the environment was pleasing. The views were great and a pleasant surprise to have when golfing or enjoying a visit to the Country Club.
The food served at the concert venue last night was awful!!Scales in the seabass, which the servers were calling salmon not salmon barely edible!! Chicken way overcooked salad was the highlight! Very sad, I might have to dispute this charge as I feel we were ripped off!
Nice courses for beginners, but still requires some technical skill to navigate. Get in a full day at both courses during the week, when there are less people out. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually pretty empty.
Great
Nice meeting room. Good acoustics
Good golf course, nice greens (fast).
I ate at the restaurant and the food was good (Hamburger). I really liked how they used eco friendly straws (paper).
Yesterday, I went to meet my former bosses at Brookside Restaurant. I ordered a tuna sandwich. I didnt like my tuna sandwich. The tuna was burnt. The tuna sandwich is on a half of a roll and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The salad was ok. I thought it was expensive for $10 or $10.50, I dont remember. I have had better tuna sandwiches elsewhere.Parking was terrible yesterday. There wasnt a single space close to the restaurant or street parking. There must of been a golfing event. Golf carts were all over the sidewalk while walking to the restaurant.Staff was nice and courteous. The only thing I liked was I saw my former bosses and co-workers. I have been to the Brookside for other occasions and food at that time was much better.
Very good place for tailgate party before a game
I had a wonderful experience at the Clubhouse Restaurant. Excellent service, very tasty and generous serving. Patio by koi pond, 18th. hole excellent view of the course and San Gabriel mountains. A party of five, family and friends. Very enjoyable lunch, right after walking a loop around the Rosebowl. We will definitely be back. All the services were excellent, and the price was very reasonable. Keep it up. Art, and The Guys
Very nice course. My first golfing experience was enjoyable at Brookside and the staff was very helpful. The mobile snack ladies are on their job and make sure you never get hungry or thirsty.
I had the country breakfast and it was really good. Definitely like the eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. People there are friendly and were there when I needed coffee.
Its beautiful, unfortunately I was there because was being used as parking lot for BTS CONCERT....
Restaurant is unreliable if youre trying to have lunch before your tee time -- they cater to a different crowd but at least they stay open later than other places.Courses are good when they arent parking cars on it for the Rose Bowl. Many times the are delays at the starter windows or getting a fresh cart.It would be better if there were more stalls on the driving range.
Nice enough course if you like listening to other players blasting radio music while youre trying to enjoy your game. Could be run better.
I wasnt here to play golf. Here for the Rose Bowl game
Very nice and reasonably priced. The carts have GPS for yardages.
4 and one half hr. round, yardages displayed to the green on the cart and snack girl cart was available during the round.
#1 Long and fast green#2 Not that Long but exciting green. Very fun.
Good food and an epic view of Tiger’s win at Augusta!
Good 36 holes Golf Club!!!
Wonderful soup salad and view!
Great service! Good prices. Tasty pancakes. So so omelettes - overcooked and dried out. Perhaps just this morning? Will go back again.
This place is awesome! Great facilities, great staff, and veteran friendly.
Dont have to play golf to eat at the restaurant...And the food is good, and reasonably priced. The fish tacos were tasty, burgers huge....Fish & chips served in a bag! Its a lot of fun!
Nice driving range and two courses. Nice greens with some challenging hole placement.
Restaurant is casual with good food, good service and reasonable prices.
Beautiful and the ranchero omelet was awesome!
The course was in great condition. Had a great round.
Awesome Golf Course two 18-hole courses course one has to be one of the longest one in LA County. In the beautiful Arroyo Seco with the Rose Bowl overlooking you doesnt get much better
Food and service at the restaurant are very good. Course is not in as good a shape as it used to be and it is very busy.
Our group had a Golf Tournament at Brookside - staff was very accommodating and professional. Had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant - the avacado toast was the best! ( Darn: Not available that day for lunch...)the dinner/buffet and annual torunament was a big success.
Late Tee Times, 2 holes closed on Course #1. Horrible experience
Good service. Good breakfast (although out of sourdough bread).
Two courses. Course one is the better of the two. Its a little longer and more difficult. Prepare yourself for long rounds on the weekends. For some reason the management allows groups of five and overload the course. Other than that both courses are in good shape and fun to play.
An historic place for golf, lunch, or a great festival weekend.Brookside has been serving Angelenos a great day for years. Friendly staffing, and cool drinks.
Amazingly tranquil very scenic and fast greens
A nice day in a beautiful place. Shot a 91.
Awesome place to have any celabration
This place awesome grad place to come and relax.
