Great array of realism, mostly oil painting, but occasionally charcoal, and other mediums. This former NYC art gallery is quickly becoming a staple in the art scene in socal. If you like realism, figurative, or representational art then Arcadia should be on your short list of galleries.
My experience was very poor. Steve ‘aka guy in charge’ was uncommonly rude, apathetic and sexist. Degrading especially being an educated female who have worked in the gallery world for over 10 years. There are plenty of wonderful representational galleries that this one can be missed! Regret meeting Steve and disheartening indeed, to discover that such people still exist in any creative professional.
We came here to see Jeremy Lipkins solo show. While Lipkin is an outstanding artist demanding high prices for his works the gallery staff is far from being outstanding. While inside the gallery the staff member made no contact, no greetings and to make matters worse we were asked to leave because they decided to close one hour early. We made a point to come to this particular show and planned our day according to the operating hours of the gallery. We ended up going to early dinner instead. The gist of it is if you dont look rich and dont look like you will buy a painting, they dont bother with you.
Beautiful gallery. Not very big but they bring in the most important contemporary living realist artists. If you want to see great representational art, it doesnt get better than this gallery. Ive never been to a show at this gallery where I didnt come out wishing I could buy one of the art pieces there. Nicely done.
Loved this gallery!! I have followed them on Instagram for a while, because I am a huge fan of realist art. The gallery did not disappoint, with a decently large selection of paintings on view to merit a visit on my trip to LA. And the owner was very friendly and informative (and I did not look like I was about to buy an expensive painting - I had on workout pants and a t-shirt). He explained that they focus on contemporary living artists who are not only competent artists but also have their own unique style. It really shows. You may not like all of the art you see, but thats because it doesnt all blend into the mess of other artists out there. He also suggested that I check out the Norton Simon Museum. I took his advice and was so happy I did!! The only downside to this gallery is that right now (Jan 2018) parking can be a little tough due to construction, but its simply worth it if you like contemporary realist art. You will not find modern art here, either, just FYI.
Very nice location and building. It was very hot in the gallery the air conditioner wasnt very good. Overall nice ambient and casual setting
Crowded but Wonderful Fine Art.
Lovely gallery with great lighting and amazing works by contemporary artists! A must-visit!!
Simply one of the best art galleries in existence today.
One of the best representational/realist galleries!
My experience was very poor. It was a rude awakening to find the staff uncommonly rude, apathetic and sexist. I can only hope that is review can ensite the staffs awareness of human interaction and dissuade future persons from patronising such types of people. Regretful and disheartening indeed, to discover that such people still exist.
One of my fave places to go for their openings
Very good gallery!
