Great place to relax and chill. Paved trails all around the beautiful lake, trails are long take one hour to walk. It has a small beautiful garden with varied flowers and picturesque sites. A dock for fishing and chill. A boat ramp. Many shelters for picnic. It has many access points and restrooms. Waterfowls are worth to watch, watch them flying on the lake and paddling in a row. They have small lakes, campgrounds, a dog place where you can let them play.
Nice little campground. Go slow through it though, has some spots that are rough. Sign out by the road needs its lights fixed so you dont miss the turn.
Pleasant suburban recreation area. Lake, picnic areas, hiking trails, picnic area. We use it when we want to get outside and dont want to travel far.
Pros: Well maintained. Some fishing permitted, and boat ramp. Has horse, bike, and jogging paths. Big enough to give people space.Cons: Busy highway nearby, lots of noise. Find the tunnel around 96th st to pass under 370, instead of crossing dangerous highway on foot. Very popular in warm weather and sometimes too many cyclists on trails.
Very clean park.lake is newer and less known about so not as crowded as most of Omaha s lakes. Thats my trails and all kinds of good places to have picnics and nice trails. Theres a fishing pier and also like a fishing levee.
Its a great walk. Not too long but not a short stroll. Beautiful lake. Amazing overlooks. You get a little bit of everything
This is an awesome place to hike or go for a picnic. I have heard it is fun to fish and kayak as well but I personally have yet to do those things here. I hike here multiple times a week. So far I have only been hiking here since early Spring 2019. I am hoping the paved trail is open during the winter for my husky. The bathrooms on the east side are much less aromatic than the ones on the west side of the lake but both always have hand sanitizer and toilet paper. It is a great place for seasonal photos and beginning birders. The unpaved trails range from beginner to advanced, but all require decent shoes. There are several parking lots (two with boat ramps) as well as foot access from the local neighborhoods. Overall this is just a lovely place to go to get outdoors for a day. I just wanted to make a shout out to the rangers/land stewards that are maintaining Walnut Creek. You are doing an awesome job.
Great place for our pup, we love the native area typically gets a bit muddy .
Park is beautiful. All the creepy guys sitting in their cars in the parking areas all the time, not so much
Great fishing lake with easy to use boat ramp. Has open restrooms. Camper sights, walking paths and fishing pier.
Nice little get away. Has boat ramp for small boats, camping and wrap around concrete path. Bridge to the island and a bridge to a gazebo.
The people running the campsire are amazingly nice. Only thing Id do different is make check out a little earlier. 2pm is a pretty late check out.
Beautiful lake with a neat little island, that I am hoping to explore some. We kayaked and fished, although nothing was caught.
Beautiful walk, bike, horse trails and paths. There were several out on the water, paddling, boating, fishing. Beautiful Master garden area. Boat launch, good maps and signage throughout. Took about an hour to walk it.
Great place for your dogs, fenced-in areas that allows your dogs to run around and play. There is a little lake that your dog can play in as well
Staying in the campground for a week in November. Everything is clean. And the water is still on.
Easy 3.2 miles/5k paved path around the lake. Pet friendly.
Quiet and out of the way. Not crowded. Sit in the shade and watch the kids play at the playground.
This park is awesome! There is a beautiful lake with a very scenic trail thats about 3 and a half miles around it. Its a great place to walk, run, bike, for exercise or to just spend the day relaxing with friends and family. There is also a playground for the kids. This is also a perfect place to take photos as there are a lot of picturesque spots.
Beautiful lake with nice trails to ride. Both paved and single track.
Great lake all around! It has several nice picnic areas around the lake. There are several areas around the lake that you can park at, each one with public restrooms. The trail around is approximately 3 miles long and all paved. It has a fenced in area where you can unleash your furry friend and let them run around and be a dog. It also has a pretty neat little garden near there boat dock that has a cool variety of plants. Its also a nice place to cast a line and catch a few fish!
Peaceful walking fishing park grilling area
It was the worst experience of my life. Last year me and my son would go there on the weekends to go fishing awesome this year. Its very hard to fish off of the bank with all the Moss and grass inside of the water. The lake needs to be cleaned.
It was packed today. Tried fishing but the area near the place we fished was peppered with manure (seemed like a dogs, but Im not sure). Otherwise, a great place to do trail running, fishing, rucking, walking, jogging, etc.
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature with the family.
Quiet and clean. Easy access to lake and dog parks.
The Walnut Creek rec area is a great place. There is a lot to do even in winter. They maintain a great trail that takes you around the lake. They have a very nice dog park. Its huge and has one side fenced in just for small dogs and another side for larger dogs. They have sperate entrances and two gates so while you are entering other dogs cant get out. The lake offers boating and fishing. There is a large dock with a gazebo. Many people i see here just sit in there car and eat lunch. Beautiful views.
Nice dog park. Only why is there no water for the dogs to drink
Full disclosure, I have not explored this park entirely. I am familiar with the dog park, and a nearby trail. The dog parks are great! There is one area for small dogs, one area for large dogs, and huge wide-open nature area with a pond. Each area has plenty of area to sniff, throw a ball, or play around with friends. Each time weve been, there are always other dogs to play with, which we prefer compared to the smaller park in our neighborhood where we are usually the only ones there. Our dog is a small-medium terrier, but he plays well with dogs of all sizes, so we tend to stay in the large dog area. It can be muddy, but I rarely see a lot of poop left behind. Be sure to always clean up after pet. There is a large waste bin in the main gate entrance. There is also a grass walking trail just across the driveway from the dog area. One loop around it is roughly 1 mile. It is a nice way to end our time at the park. Beware, this trail can have large piles of horse manure left behind. Theyre usually large enough that youll see them coming up the way and can be sure to avoid misstepping. Its a great park. Lots of unexplored amenities there. And, its not that far out of the city. Go have some fun!
Couldnt catch anything but its my ghost o to for fishing and walking the trail
I just was at the dog park but it looks like it has alot of stuff to do
Great off-leash dog park there. It is wooded and has access to a small lake. Your dog will love it!
Beautiful scenery & relaxation along the waters edge
Beautiful neighborhood escape! Well kept area. Great views!
Beautiful place for an early evening walk or jog. Felt like a safe place for families and individuals!
Very nice campground and recreational area. The camp hosts were very nice. We used this campground when we went to Valas pumpkin patch. They didnt really have fire pits that were in the ground, but they did have some above ground fire pits that you could use. The sites were pretty level and easy to get in to. We only had electric hook up on our site, but that wasnt an issue for us.
Quiet, peaceful and nice size lots. Alot of trails and a newly fenced dog park so they dont have to go into the lake!
Wonderful place to relax and spend time with that special person.
Amazing scenery, I love it!
Walnut Creek is one of my favorite places to photograph.
With the new fenced in areas it really is one of the best dog parks. The lake is clear of the algae and lots of dogs playing in the water and having a great time. They even have a hose to wash your dog off (much needed) which is very handy.
Beautiful lake! The whole area has amazing trails and amazing scenic walks. There is places to camp and places to play. There is even cross country running trails. My favorite is the Dog run. Newly renovated and sectioned for each size dog! They even can play in the lake! Its also a great place to have a party or gathering! If youre looking for a fun area to hang out I highly recommend Walnut Creek!
Great views as you walk around the lake! Nice cement paths!
I visit the dog park often with my Olde English Bulldogge. We love the fenced in areas and also the trails. Theres been a couple of times where there have been agressive dogs there but my dog wont hurt a fly. 1 dog was aggressive towards mine as my dog was naturally curious about their toy that was being played with. If your dog is aggressive with their toys, its a good idea not to bring them to a place where other dogs most lilely will be curious. The other time was just a very dominate German shepherd. Again, if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs maybe keep him on a leash and dont just stand there when hes pinning other dogs to the ground and mounting them. But we continue to go back because my fur babe loves it. Most of the time my dog meets some great fur and hooman friends.
Came here for a wedding. Nice recreation area with camping, walking/biking path, fishing, etc.
I live close by this park. Its a wonderfully relaxing little gem nestled far enough off the highway as to be secluded without being inconvenient.
Love the fishing here. Nice clean area. Great walking/biking trail
Little corner of Gods green earth right here...lovely and safe walk around the park after dinner! or early morning quiet walk...
Excellent place for an afternoon 3.5 mile walk.
The garden on the west side of the lake is so beautiful.
Nice 3.2 mile walk around the lake... Fairly flat with a couple small hills on the north side.
Like to ride my bike around to see the sun come up
Really pretty, clean area. At the parking there are restrooms, picnic tables and a play ground. On the 3+mile lake loop theres a dock, and island and some nice benches. Great place for family and biking!
The playground could have more for the kids like swing.
My dogs LOVE it here. The swimming area provides a space for them to cool off as well as tall brush to run around in. If you don’t want your dog covered in mud (which will happen if you enter the swimming area) there are two fenced-offed areas that are in water/mud free spaces, more like a traditional dog park. There are waste bags and bins provided to keep the area clean.
Once around and you have your exercise in for the day. Biking trails are available as well.
Beautiful area, well kept; long 1 hour loop (3.5 miles), fun bridges, dock and an island. Picnic areas scattered throughout and a fun playground for the kiddos.
Polite people nice scenery cool trails
Scenic view.
Great get away from the 9-5. Usually peaceful and not crammed full of people.
I love Walnut creek! The only downside is how busy it gets on the weekends. But its to be expected! Theyre also updating their dog park this summer with taller fences and Im excited to check it out!
I like fishing. Even though I didnt catch anything, I still had fun. Maybe next time.
Nice clean place and a great walking Trail
Fun for a dog of any kind
Great place for a picnic or for a walk. New dog park is nice. Great for all ages
If you dont mind just having electric on site, water is available at office and waste dump is also. Very nice lake fishing and trails.
People have no respect for anything anymore. Not the parks fault, but people taking any and every fish they catch. It deserves 5 stars, but since they have to restock every year, its almost all baby fish.Such a great lake to visit though.
This is such a nice place with a variety of things to do. There is a place for dogs to run off of the leash. You can fish. You can grill. You can walk around the lake. Such a nice place to visit
Beautiful, peaceful, and my favorite place to focus and relax.
Normally a back water county campground. But this year with all the high water on the Missouri closing campgrounds East of it it suddenly became popular. Weird rules dont allow reservations over the phone, only in person and then only when/if the site is empty.
Wherever you want/need some peace of mind. Walnut Creek Lake, is the place to GO
Love the progressive mountain bike trails
Very nice park with a good walking path around the lake. A good one hour walk.
Yet another trip here to find some new geocaches. Love the island best. Lots of ice fishermen out today.
Nice lake but so many people out there. I like to fish and there are some good spots to fish here.... but I cant tell you if there are any fish in the lake, there so so many people here every time i go, the dock is littered with people fishing on top of each other, and all the little jettys there are lined with people. There are some nice trails but my big butt does not want to jog i want to fish!Of you are looking for a serene place to relax.... this aint it, between the loud music and crying kids you have someone jogging on top of you or crossing your lines...... shame its a gorgeous lake....
Lots of ticks in the grass. Stay on the path or bring some spray.
Over fished. Bank has to much growth.
Quiet, great place for picnic or walk. I love the 1 hour walk.
Love my runs here. Lots of nature. Great little lake!
Beautiful little lake with a very scenic trail encircling it. Almost always a nice breeze. In the summer, best to do the walk around the lake in the morning, since there is not a lot of shade in the afternoon. Great for walking or bicycling. There are also picnic spots, and a small playground for the little ones. There is a pretty nice boat ramp for small boats, no gas powered. Some small islands dot the southern end of the lake, very scenic for canoes and kayaks. There is a bridge out to one small island. Really great for fishing. There is also a pier on the lake just for fishermen. The fishing conditions are pretty good in the morning, less so if the afternoon gets hot. Make sure you bring your own drinks, since the water fountains are very sparse. I highly recommend it for a lazy day by the water!
Beautiful Park.
Great place to take your dog! Good clean space, plus a fenced in lake area!
Nothing was biting for me
Avery nice, clean, quiet Rec. Park. Camping there is more than economical.
What a nice place to camp we were in town to visit family and found this park was glad to stay looking to stay again large lake nice walking trail dog park also
It was absolutely wonderful. I took our disabled homeless guests from the sienafrancis House fishing. We caught lots of fish. I noticed how clean the grounds and lake are. Enjoyed walking the trails. Love the healing garden. Thanks, Sr. Stephanie
Quiet, calm, loved being out on the water
Great walking trails, but beware of ticks here!
Great place to walk or have a picnic. You can also fish and camp here
Ac refrigeration unit and cover stolen at this rv park.
So beautiful. Wonderful park with many areas and something for everyone.
So peaceful here
Not much but a lake and a dock or two. Maybe a place to grill? Lots of potential though.
Love camping here
Nice paved trails along a gorgeous terrain in a great semi metro location
ITS very nice! Great place to walk, and tale your family.
Lots to do. Camping, fishing and a dog area. Super nice walking, running or biking trail around the lake.
Very cool. Scenic great place to jog. There is also obstacle things along the side of the trail to look for.
