Very awesome seeing these instruments of flight history no regrets.
Best museum in California. and it has so many planes that were used in the wars of the USA. This museum will give you a lot of knowledge about aerospace and aeronautics. This museum has the fastest plane that was ever built the SR-71 Blackbird. Even the entry cost is free for everyone.
I moved back to Palmdale 3 years ago. I lived here originally in 1983-84. Because I was a systems analyst for 32 years I had a couple of nice homes in Saugus and Stevenson Ranch which I could afford due to my career. I loved living here then. I have been an amateur photographer for 40 years. Check out my Facebook photos under Paul Goldberg. I have visited Blackbird Airpark at least once a month for 3 years. I really enjoy talking to Bill Flanagan who was the RSO in the Blackbird for 5 years and in the B2 for 9 years. He is the docent at the Airpark now. Very friendly and helpful. He donated 6 posters for the City Library. The Blackbird is still the altitude and speed record holder for turbojet driven airplanes for over 50 years. Admission is free It is open Friday Saturday and Sunday 11-4. Bill is only there Sunday. Call before going to ensure he is there. It is right next to Joe Davies Heritage Airpark same hours. Great place for kids.
Enjoyed a wonderful time sightseeing and learning historic facts about military aircraft. Wonderful for kids and adults. Dont forget to stop by the gift shop. Everyone loves to take home a souvenir stealth fighter. Also, it has some very nice picnic areas and even barbecue grills are available.
Do not miss this if you have any interest in the SR-71 Blackbird! You will see an A-12 and an SR-71 side by side together with a U2 and a ramjet powered drone. The gift shop could be a little better appointed and missed not finding a nice fridge magnet which I’m sure would sell like hot cakes! The visit is free but they do accept donations. It’s only about an hour drive from LA or you can take a scenic detour via the Angeles Forest Highway so if you’re anywhere in LA and have any interest in aviation don’t miss this gem!
We drove by, not realizing the park was there, and were amazed to see how many historic planes were in the collection. But the park was closed. Is the park always open on the days and hours shown on the sign? Its too far from Santa Monica otherwise.
Excellent place to see many historical military airplanes at the location of the maiden flight of the SR-71. The hightlights of the site are the A-12, SR-71A, U-2 and D-21. On display are also the J58 engine and the dual Buick V8-powered cart used to start it.
A snapshot of history, an amazing piece of technology on display and a great place to remember those who have done the impossible for the freedom we live in .
This is a great place for fans of the A-12 and SR-71. It has the first A-12 built. Also there is an SR-71. The J-58 is on display. One of the amazing tires is on display. They were good for about ten landings. There is also a gift shop with goodies. Also there is a drone version. Next door is another collection of aircraft that includes a B-52.
Very interesting and wonderful experience to see ultra-sonic SR71 Blackbird in real.
Enjoyed walking around and seeing the planes. My 2 yr old had a blast! Wore him out
Nice place to stretch your legs and see the planes. Be sure to stop to see the planes next door as well.
I wasnt aware of the hours when I stopped by, so they were closed. Just be sure of the hours before you stop by. Otherwise, looks like a great place to visit.
Lots of impressive military aircraft with explanations of the specific planes life and detail of the generals aircrafts capabilities and importance. Some newer exhibits did not have descriptions yet. It is very hot in the middle afternoon in August, so earlier or later in the day would have been better.
The Blackbird Airpark is a page out of history in the Aeronautics Field Seeing these infamous planes up-close is really something! It is in the Desert so bring a hat and sunscreen, maybe even a picnic. There is a little gift shop on site with attendants who are very informed about the Aerospace field and the part Antelope Valley built aircraft played in it.
Very nice air park all the airplanes looks very impressive!
A self guide tour of some of the most fabulous planes in the Air Force
An interesting if slightly random selection of aircraft. Great videos showing in the entrance area. Pleasant staff.
Cool place!
My son loves this place especially after the air show, do wish it was bigger but then again of it were it would be quite a walk, so e of those planes are huge!
Had a lot of fun here, I really like the fact that were basing our airplane designs off the X-Men movies.
Nice place for pictures and a good place for kids to spend an hour looking at old planes. Make sure you check the weather when you visit, not as enjoyable to look at planes when it is over 100 degrees outside.
Great place to take the kids and see some really cool planes.
Exciting collection of over 60 years worth of aviation history. Also, the worlds crankiest security guard.
Its a nice park but for it being 1 of the Sr-71s main hubs it could be a lot better, nice place to take the kids & have a pic nick lunch,
I liked it thr kids loved it too just wish it was bigger.
If anyone gets bored at this site it is because they are on drugs. This is as close as most of us will ever get to an SR71 the technological information is nothing short of amazing.
Wonderful place to enjoy with family
Great place to learn about aviation history that propelled the AV.
Blackbird is my fav plane!
