Nat’s work stands alone at the intersection of classic art, rich in symbolism and theme, pop art in its tongue-in-cheek humor, appropriation of popular symbols and cultural icons, and modern art with an eye toward Googie architecture and landmark buildings from the 50s thru the 70s. All this is filtered through the lens of the desert landscape, his adopted home, and Nat’s affection for mining the camp value found in Tiki counterculture. Seemingly whimsical but acutely systematic and detailed, his works define a world where one-eyed cats lounge poolside with Poodles and strutting Peacocks; perhaps stand-ins for the cast of characters one meets in a desert life. I inquired about a piece of art that was in his shop on our last trip there, and Nat promptly responded with info AND options for a second version that I liked even better. The artwork arrived promptly, was exceptionally well-packaged, and looks absolutely stunning in our home ... he is an exceptional artist and provides great service, too!
