Orbit Skate Center

A lot of skate rinks have a run-down or neglected vibe. Thats not the case with Orbit. The place is well-kept and attractively decorated. They also a full snack bar for kids and a bar area for adults. Skaters can rent quad or in-line skates at a reasonable price. If you are interested in purchasing your own skates, talk to one of their friendly employees at the Pro Shop. Dalton helped us pick out ours and we love them. For those who are just learning, both kids and adults can take Saturday lessons at various skill levels. If youre looking for a fun time and a bit of nostalgia, definitely give Orbit a try!

This is a great place for family and friends. I just started coming at the beginning of the year and I enjoy it. They have a session on Saturday from 12pm-1pm for those people (kids and adults) to learn how to skate and right afterwards there is a session for everyone to skate. They have lockers to put your stuff in and it only cost .50 cents to rent. Make sure to bring quarters for the lockers. They have arcades and a food court. Overall its a fun place for you and your family.

I went there with a school on a field trip and it was extremely fun. All ages would have fun here. Their snack bar is stocked with all food you would like to order and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean. My experience was amazing there. I would spend every weekend there, if I could.

This place is amazing!! I love coming here with my friends every week it is a great way to injoy yourself and have a blast! All the refs are so nice and the food court is great as well! I recommend to come her if you have to just get out and have fun you don’t even have to come with a friend or anyone in fact it’s a great way to show yourself!

We love coming here. It is so nice that there is still a friendly roller skating rink within reach. The staff are friendly and responsive, the music mix is good, the floor is first rate. If we lived close enough for the after school club my kids wouldve been here every day last year.

Ive loved this place ever since I was a kid. I absolutely loved this place so much I would come every weekend. Prices are great too. Staff are super nice and willing to help you. Please go to this place, its awesome. I totally recommend it!

I have been to Orbit many times. I bought my skates here, have taken skating lessons and skated during many open skates. The atmosphere is fun and family friendly. Orbit offers a snack bar, pro shop and fully stocked bar for the adults.They do a Jam Skate one night per month. Its really something to see!

I thought the place was clean and very family friendly. Regarding the previous review: The Center advertises they do parties and need to be booked ahead. People cant bring in their own food, decorations, and beverages. Thats just plain rude.Its understandable just like you cant bring your own food in to a movie theater. Orbits a nice place, I dont see how they make much money for all the fun they offer. I wonder if that woman would take a party of kids in to a restaurant with her own decorations, cake and beverages, especially without a reservation! Thats pretty low class if you ask me.Weve been here a lot with our kids and never once were these people rude to us or our kids (And our kids were pretty rowdy!)So to the previous reviewer: Dont be such a cheapskate, if your going to have a party plan to pay for it. Be nice, play fair.

Largest smoothest most beautiful curved wood floor in USA. Full service bar with roll through roaster oven for super fast pizzas. One of a kind roller rink for sure. If you try it you will be back!

Orbit is a great place to skate. The staff is very friendly and pretty passionate about skating, so, even if you dont know much about skating, you arent too lost. The lessons they offer on Saturdays are pretty informative and give plenty time and space to try out skating.The skate shop at Orbit is also pretty decent though you might have to ask around for help, depending on how crowded it is.

I love skating here with the other adults on Wednesdays mornings. I would rate it a five, but I purchase my new wheels and reds ($200) there and I have been trying to get them oiled for months now. I was informed to bring them back and they could do it for me, but no one knows how while Im at the rink. Not to mention, Ive been asking about the cost of skating lessons and no one can tell me who and the cost.

Nice rink, not a bad crowd...At least the children had some sort of respect vs many other rinks in an around Chicago. The only real complaint I have is the floor was very VERY dirty! Brand new wheels didnt look so brand new after your floor had a go at them! I think you just need to really clean the floor or re-do it....Outside that it was amazing rink! Ill be back, just with crap wheel on my skates vs my $150 Atoms.

Lots of fun! Different special events for all ages and adults only. Great option for kids birthday parties. Moderate sized concessions stand and small bar as well.

One of the very few roller rinks still in operation. This massive facility is good for parties of all ages with ample parking and large party areas. It accommodates both beginner and advanced skaters. You are guaranteed to have a good time here.

Back 15 years later to teach my son about all the fun you can have without electronics and its still a good time. Only suggestion I can make it to enforce your own rules and dont be afraid to kick people out. Today, we left less than an hour into free skate because it was dangerous. The refs were letting small children skate the wrong and other kids screw around.(from an adult learning how to stop again, i was afraid to run over kids). I get wanting everyone to have fun but unfortunately, parents dont watch their kids anymore so you get stuck enforcing your own rules.

Love it. Fun and healthy way to spend few hours. Though they have a bar too if you need a little soothing after few hours if scating.

Why did orbit close down. I remember having so many fun birthday parties at orbit!! Its so sad that it is gone now.

Im currently at Orbit. Everything was all good until I went up to the food counter. Im waiting in line and the young guy taking orders allow 4 people get in front of me and another person waiting. I mentioned the situation to him and he got an attitude with me. He told me I shouldve said something when the 4 people walked up. Which at the time I waved at him and the young lady behind the counter at the time this happened. This is my 1st time here. Not a great experience for my 1st time. Maybe my last time if I happen to discover any other rude staff on this visit. This sucks after a long hard day and I thought that Id enjoy myself at a skating rink. Smh.

I have purchased skates for my grandchildren in the past and found the skate shop staff to be very helpful. Concession employees were a little forgetful and slow with a french fry order.(they forgot to give it to us) Skate floor was clean and well monitored. We always have fun and enjoy skating at the Orbit!

I had the most fun flashback themed 30th birthday party at Orbit. Ive been skating here all my life, its such a fun activity and great place to be!

This place was a great place to spent time. BUT THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS. CLOSED.

1 time only passing thru for a weekend 3 Octobers ago my teen daughter and I came. Huge place. We were from a hick town so werent used to most the music but great atmosphere. My only issue was during a speed skate. I was thus highly speeding. Id have thought with logic there d be floor guard at entrance and exit of floor? No such luck. During my speeding during stated by DJ a speed skate.. l was going so fast I couldnt stop or turn on a whim. A young man sauntered onto the floor right I n my path. Looked right at me without a concern I yelled move!! Thus I rammed into him fell and messed ny knee up for 2 mos. Wasnt broken but dang the pain for 2mos.

I love this place. Management is nice comfortable, and its a fun place to be. Get your groove back.

Ive been in the customer service business for 30 years. I cant understand why management is being given bad reviews then justifying them by turning it on the customer and blaming them. First you should appreciate peoples dis satisfaction comments to try & improve your establishment. Instead you blame them. Maybe their experience could have been better. Thats what you want so they come back. 1 negative review can truly hurt a business. Were these people that posted bad reviews wrong? Possibly. Word of advice, dont be rude, cocky or arrogant . They keep your business going. Remember that. Those bad revirws could have been handled so different. you should do what you can to get those customers back. Maybe hire someone who is good with people that could address & fix the repor ... that shows you care about the customers experience and feelings. This too will also increase your business.

Great roller rink that had a bar. Good pizza. Friendly staff. Great equipment. Open till 1am on Saturdays!

Visited orbit on one of their 80s nights and had a blast. I hadnt been on skates in a long time but this place was great not terribly crowded. So I felt safe making my way around. The staff was super friendly which also made for a great night.My only complaint is that the music was not 80s. I was really hoping for some great songs from Madonna, Aerosmith, Journey, etc and was sadly disappointing. They played a lot of modern mashups of 80s music which were terrible. The DJ did play my request when I sought someone out to make one.

We walked in and knew we were in the right place, loved being able to go in before the session actually started, great floor, friendly and and helpful staff, good music to skate to, we drove a little over an hour from Indiana, and we will be back, we love skating and you have a great facility for all ages to enjoy, thank you again for a fun time.Craig from Indiana

Theyre only concerned about their bottom line! This roller rink does not care about you or your safety! First, they sell ALCOHOL (which is a disaster waiting to happen)! I dont know who thought this was a good idea, for a ROLLER RINK!? Secondly, they disallow CCL; and dont have any metal detectors and armed guards in place to actually enforce this policy!Theres just way too much wrong with the SAFETY of this place! I cant imagine how anyone can feel safe here since they do so much to blatantly disregard the safety of their patrons! Nothing better than having drunk people with guns on roller skates!

The manager was quite rude, but the rest of the staff was nice.

Ok I LOVE this place its my all time favorite skating rink ever its got great people and nice staff very good food and cool arcade games I go every Wenesday and Friday and its awesome also Im having my b-day party there and Ive read a few bad reviews and well I dont believe in those ones :)

Bought a Groupon for four. Their website said they were open. We drove over 25 miles only to be not let in. They were closed for a private event but didnt update their site. There was no compensation. By the time I reported it to Groupon I was unable to get a refund. After further complaining Groupon gave a $5 credit. It was a waste of times, gas and money. Better call to confirm ahead of time and dont assume their website is correct.

Orbit is the best skate center in the chicago-land area! They have a snack bar, a bar, and rental skates! Fun for the whole family!!

A group us went to this place since it was winter so we all have our coats in tables while skating. The manager came to us and told us to move our stuff because the tables are food and snacks meanwhile some were having snacks. So I went to himto tell that we not reserving the tables which just skating he looked and said you are right as if i was lying. That is not how you treated your customers no matter where their nationality. I was very disapointed.

Been going here since the 80s with the place pretty much unchanged. Snack bar has several selections.

There was a very rude man at the check in counter when we arrived. It was clearly evident that he was a sad and frustrated old man, but that did not give him the right to treat us so harshly. We had questions but he didnt take the time to listen and answer them. He continuously interrrupted and interjected statements that he thought we might want hear. For some reason, he acted like he could read our minds. Unfortunately he could not. And we left the facility disappointed that any establishment would have anyone like this in the front to represent it.

If you are over the age of 10, and do not have a child under 10, DO NOT come here. The rink is run down at best and if you dont have your own skates, be prepared to rent very poor quality ones. I have wide feet and got seering pain in my foot from 5 minutes of skating. The only thing the cashier gave me was a ticket to get our rental skates. When I went to the manager to see if we could get a refund, as we were there for 20 minutes, he said I needed a receipt. I explained to him that I got no receipt from the cashier and he said there was nothing he could do for us then. The place was filled almost to capacity, so I wouldnt have hurt the profit for the day. The manager, Ron, also said you dont get refunds at movies if you dont like the beginning but my family has went to a movie, walked out within 10 minutes, and got a full refund. I just found that a petty way to try to justify greed and bad buisness practices.

Its a good place for skating but the place is too dark and the food is horrendous, so pricey and we dont get what we paid for it, the food tastes like old. They should offer fresh food.

Incredibly rude staff. I was shocked at how demeaning the staff was. I felt unwelcomed. Every aspect of business is shockingly poorly run.One of the members of my group fell and injured herself on the skate rink, and instead of checking to see if she was okay, the referee kept yelling at us to get out of the yellow painted shoulder of the rink, complaining we were causing a nuisance by her being on the floor injured!Further every part of their payment system is ill organized and caused many errors and overpayments which made our birthday party encounter numerous problems.Our birthday party reserved tables, but they forced us to move tables every two hours.Do not go here. and definitely do not hold your group event here, you will be treated rudely and they will attempt to over charge you for every single stepIf this business is not up the simple tasks of organizing birthday parties and keep track of bar tabs they should not offer these services.

Very disappointed... This year would be my fourth time celebrating my daughters bday at Orbit. The first time I spent over $300 on the private room and it was a nice experience. The service was really great and everything went smooth. A lot has changed over the years, this time the service was horrible. There must be some very unhappy employees over there. First of all what skate center closes from 4 pm to 7 pm on a SATURDAY! Ok fine, I wasnt aware so when I arrived at 3:15 I was very rudely told that I had to order my pizza right away. Fine, I did as told...pizza arrived not even within 5 minutes already cold...gross. And tables were super filthy. So I had to rush the kids to skate for 45 minutes as they were closing at 4pm. Again ridiculous but I played by the rules. So we skated and then we rushed to eat the cold pizza and the brownies I brought in for my daughters bday. I was approached and again very rudely told I could not bring outside food, Oh really? Then why was I able to when we had paid for the private party? I guess you have to spend $300+ dollars to bring in your own bday sweets. We felt very unwanted and because it was already 4 pm we were literally being kicked out. Extremely rude employees or dare I say it was the management there. Unfortunately this will probably be the last time we celebrate anything at Orbit.

Amazing place to go and have fun.

I love orbitz skating rink in palatine, i go there with my friend every friday or saturday. The only bad thing about Orbitz is there prices keep on going higher would they go lower once in a while. When i first start coming to Orbitz it was with my friend about 2 years ago, and it was only $7.00, and now it is almost $15.00, that is $6.00 dollars more. But Orbitz is the best place to go.*They play really good music**Their nachos are the bomb*

The perfect place for a kids birthday party!

They care about the customer. One day the power was out, bummer, but they had an employee hand out tickets to come back and skate for free.

While the music is geared towards tweens and teens, I did hear a song I liked well enough to buy from iTunes! LOL The floor is excellent, the pro shop staff knows their stuff, they have Derby Lite (yay!) and Im looking forward to participating in speed skating. The place is very family friendly.

Great skating experience and a lot of fun

I really love taking the kids here & they have a blast skating.......BUT, the customer service is very poor. Employees are rude and borderline confrontational. They dont provide enough seating for customers then move belongings & hide behind the bar when you get up to take a picture of your child skating.....even when the table is covered with food from the concession stand! Perhaps they wouldnt be closing in March if they focused on the customer a little more.
