We had the pleasure of playing at Castle Hill for The Watson Wedding on October 27, 2018. This gorgeous venue is an airy, two level space overflowing with sophisticated southern charm! The outdoor setting for ceremonies is perfectly intimate and the large covered patio was fabulous for cocktail hour. The staff were exceptional.
Beautiful layout perfect for weddings, receptions, and parties. Elegant, classy, with new construction.
Let me start out with the positive. The grounds of this B&B are beautiful. However, the service from the owners was not. If you were going to run a B&B you should at least like people and be able to answer their questions about their stay. The B&B is very rude during our stay. The first morning we were there there was construction next-door beginning at 6:45 in the morning. When we went down for breakfast we asked is there going to be construction tomorrow morning as well? In front of the group gathered for breakfast she said I don’t know I would think people would be up at 7 o’clock. When I responded well we’re on vacation she said if you don’t like it I will give you your money back right now and you can leave and find another place. This was a football weekend. As she well knew, there was nothing available in Oxford at that time. We paid over $300 a night parentheses again football weekend and parentheses to be yelled at by Gene at breakfast. It was so bad that another guest who had arrive from the West Coast came over to us and explain that she had been yelled out the night before. We actually looked online to see if there was anything else available to rent for the weekend. Yes, we actually contemplated leaving the B&B to go and rent a house with a total stranger. That’s how rude the owner was. I would never Stay here again. We are from out of state and have a child attending old mess. I am often asked for recommendations on where to stay. I have a list of places I re
My visit felt like home away from home. The bed felt like it was hugging me; so comfortable! Jean, the manager, was friendly and very accommodating. She is also an excellent cook! Jean helped make my stay memorable and worth coming back. I started recommending Castle Hill of Oxford day one.
The property is fantastic. Old world charm with modern amenities. We stayed in the Dixie Room. It was huge. It was just my wife and I, but it would be great for family. Plenty of room for kids to have space when needed. Jack and Jill bathroom is a nice bonus. Jean and Randy were very warm and responsive hosts. The grounds are beautiful with wonderful views and great walking. So much better than a hotel. Highly recommend.
Beautiful historic property with several small lakes and a walking trail. They have taken strides to maintain the historic feel while keeping the property in great condition. Our room, (Dixie) was so well appointed and quite large with plenty of room for me and my two college age sons. There was a king bed and twin-sized bunk beds in an adjoining smaller room with a TV in each space. There was one large shower, two toilets and two separate vanities. There was also a small fridge stocked with water bottles, a microwave and a Keurig with plenty of supplies. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Would definitely stay again!!
I have been coming to Oxford for about 20years. This was by far the best place I have ever stayed. The were friendly and very acccomodating. The amneties were top of the line. I have never felt so welcome and at home. My puppy loved the grounds. I never want to stay anywhere else again.
Very nice property that really makes you feel at home. Nice, clean, well appointed rooms with luxurious, modern touches in the bathroom. Comfortable bed and living space made for a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was very tasty and enjoyable as well.
We had an amazing stay and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Oxford. The Rebel Room was perfect and the grounds were immaculate. Jean was an awesome hostess and breakfast was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return.
My Husband and I had the pleasure of hosting our daughters reception at Castle Hill 3/30/2019. Behind the scenes preparing - Jean, Randy, and Emily were FANTASTIC. The food was Exquisite ! The presentation of the food was beautiful and perfectly displayed. I could not have asked for better people to work with. The rental fee was very budget friendly and had so many perks. We also stayed in two two of the most fantastic rooms for the weekend, again beautiful and budget friendly. Our experience could not have been any better, Thank you
Picking up daughter for the summer...wanted to stay a few more days and enjoy Oxford. Jean made it a wonderful experience. We loved our room - southern charm and hospitality!
Very beautiful and elegant
Finding a hotel in Oxford, MS is always challenging. This B&B is several miles from campus so you have to have transportation in order to stay here. For a B&B the quality of the furnishings far exceeds any other B&B that I have ever stayed in. The 20 stairs to the second level was impossible for our elderly travelers who required the accessible Delta room on the main level. Lack of sound proofing between the walls in old residences is a problem as you cannot rely on the courtesy of your neighbor. For those of you who forgot how to use a bathtub this will be your biggest challenge. The Delta suite does have a shower, but has kitchen noise. Dont take heavy or large bags if staying on the second level. The staircase is circular and you must stay close to the wall as the treads narrow. We were pleased with the cleanliness. All things considered it was far superior to the VRBO where the rest of our family stayed. B&B lovers would likely be extremely satisfied. The private bathrooms attached to the suites makes this a far superior B&B experience.
It was a beautiful place our room was just perfect the staff was friendly and available if we needed anything. They made us a delicious breakfast every morning
The grounds are beautiful, close to campus but quiet and peaceful. The rooms are lovely and they have everything you need. A hot breakfast is provided daily. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and they make themselves available without being intrusive. They hold events there in the main building, but it was still a quiet, pleasant stay.
Nice venue conveniently located in Oxford, just off the highway not far from town. BEAUTIFUL bathrooms. Just a nice place to host special events.
Absolutely stunning! Wish we could have seen it in warmer weather but it is beautiful. Service fantastic!
This was like stepping back in time. Randy and Jean the owner/operators do an amazing job. The grounds are perfection as are the rooms. The breakfast was a feast and the hospitality so warm and welcoming. This gets our highest recommendation.
Beautiful facilities! Big rooms! Amazing views and friendly stafff. Jean is fantastic to work with. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, as well as visiting with the other guests.
Great place to eat one of my favoritesGreatest service of all places
It was awesome. Great people.
My visit was due to a Fundraiser Event. Really nice of the administration to let this group of people come together for a Great Cause.
Perfect getaway spot! I wanted a pretty place to rest and relax and found the perfect place here. The grounds are breathtaking and the room is adorable. Comfortable bed and large living space. I love the gorgeous view from the porch swing. Staff is nice and the rooms are pretty and sound proof. They are adding a ball room so there is some construction but they brought my breakfast to the room since the dining area is a part of the remodel. I highly recommend Castle Hill for a getaway. I came alone but this is perfect for a romantic weekend for a couple.
We stay at Castle Hill when we visit Oxford, MS. Ms. Jean and her staff are wonderful. Great facility, great breakfast. Easy drive to Ole Miss.
The people at Castle Hill are great. Mr. & Mrs. Abrams good people and run a great businesses.
Worked a wedding here. Very nice venue.
Truly a remarkable place, have to sewr it to believe it, very friendly atmosphere
Great for kids, open space for high energy little ones!!
Painted at reception here. This is a stunning venue
Beautiful hotel and wonderful owners of the B&B.Would definitely stay here again when in Oxford, MS.
Absolutely BREATHTAKING property and not far from town! There is a full service bar and restaurant on the premises. I HIGHLY recommend this facility, particularly Rachaels Room. Great place to come back after a night out on The Square in Oxford. You will NOT be disappointed!
Stayed here for the LSU game and it was worth every penny. The entire place was spotless and clean as a whistle. The beds were comfortable and the showers were hot(Delta Room) The food was awesome and the hospitality was top notch. Cant wait to come back in the spring and watch LSU whip Ole Miss in baseball too.
This place was amazing so wonderful my son and daughter in law got married there it was a magical day
I was a shadowing another photographer for a wedding here and it was soooo beautiful!
Beautiful place and well worth the money. Great place to stay in Oxford.
Great experience. Great people. Will stay there again.
I loved this venue. It is a great place for large gatherings and weddings. The facility is filled with historic charm.
The good, the bad, and then the truly ugly. My daughters wedding was held at Castle Hill in April of this year (2016). The GOOD: The venue was amazing, the food was truly scrumptious. The BAD: the wedding coordinator is really the chef. The food is scrumptious, the wedding coordination is bad. ...And now the UGLY. During the wedding ceremony when all wedding guests were waiting for the ceremony to start, someone (not a wedding guest) helped themselves to the box where the checks and cash gifts were placed...Yes, you can not make it up...someone actually stole the checks and cash. The police were called, a report was filed, and the staff was interviewed. And, as can be expected no one, admitted to taking the money. In the end, my daughter married the man of her dreams. Together, they danced into the night with all of their friends, at midnight ate the best donut burger ever made and exited under an arch of sparkles that looked like they came down from heaven. To whomever helped themselves to the cash..all I can say, is that you really must have needed it to stoop so low.
Beautiful place!!! We will definitely be staying there again.
This is a review for a wedding we just had there. First of all, beautiful place to have a wedding. Food was great as well. Now for the bad. First thing I didnt like was we were supposed to have a coordinator there to tell us what to do. Wedding started at 6 and at 5:50 she was nowhere to be found. I had to tell the ushers to start seating people. Luckily we were only about a 75 person wedding or that would have been a disaster. I had to tell the dj and photographers when we were doing the dances and cutting the cake. Then the brides mother had to cut the cake when we ordered cake cutting. They tried to shut the bar down 45 minutes early without telling anyone and gave us slack when we told them we wanted it back until we were supposed to be done. When she was coordinating things she was rude and didnt really listen to any of our requests. Only reason Im giving 2 stars is for how well the place looked. I would not recommend it unless you want to run everything yourself and have a pretty place to get married.
This venue is historic, accommodates large events, and is set at a private location. This the the perfect place for weddings or large gatherings.
Beautiful mansion and grounds for special events
Beautiful property and facilities. Guest house is not recommended. Specifically, Dixie Room is not recommended. Room is directly above owners living area. My husband and I were awakened to what sounded like furniture being moved at 5:00 a.m. followed by the owners television (downstairs) around 6:00 a.m. No sleep! Was exhausted and had a difficult time enjoying my day because I was so exhausted due to no sleep! First time I have ever been to an establishment where soap, shampoo, etc., not provided. Make sure you bring soap, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, coffee cups, etc., These items were not provided. In addition, forget breakfast. Continental breakfast is yogurt and breakfast bars. Again beautiful property! As long as you are an early riser (really early) and not expecting much for breakfast, you may be satisfied. For me, considering the price, I will look for other options when in the area.
Nice accommodation with good TV. Breakfast is ok and wifi is terrible. The workers are very friendly.
Im not one to post reviews, but after attending a wedding of a dear friends daughter at Castle HIll and reading a previous negative review, I decided I would give my two cents worth. This place is a gem! The property is absolutley breathtaking with the unmistakable southern atmosphere. Our overnight accomodations were perfect as was the breakfast. The owner, Jean, made us feel so at home and event coordinator, Tess was more than we deserved. On the day before the wedding, Tess allowed us to set up and do all of the wedding stuff we needed to do early. She was available to answer questions and guide us through a few things as this was our first time in the venue. We may have had thoughts in our own heads about how to do things but when she explained resons to maybe do them differently, it made sense. Obviously she has had more experience with weddings than we have and her suggestions were spot on! Let her do her job! On the day of the wedding, God Bless Her Soul, Tess is the one preparing our food! This is dedication! The late hours she was there on Friday and back again on Saturday morning show her committment to not only her job, but to the bride and guests. When we asked her how she does it, she simply replied I just do. Its no biggie. I just want everyone to be happy. And HAPPY we were! Bride, Groom, Parents and Friends! The food was absolutely amazing! It was real food not just pretty food. Our friends are still talking about it weeks later. Her Southern Comforts of little mason jars with shrimp and grits or catfish, hushpuppies and hoppin john were precious mini meals but the buttered beef tenderloin melted in your mouth! OMG! To Die For! :) OH! and her candied bacon...I have no words! OH and the DONUT BURGERS! Yes!!! We had Donut Burgers and Fries in little carry out chinese boxes for late night. Adorable and delicious!WE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AT CASTLE HILL!!!!I guess it bothers me to read reviews and comments when I know there is probably more to the story than the negative that has been posted because our experence was nothing but wonderful! I know as a business, you cant say certain things to defend yourself and I respect Jean and Tess for not stooping to that level. Some people are just unhappy and they find comfort in hurting others. I will say I find it almost comical that money was stolen from a couples card box the way it was described. Im sure there have been many years of card boxes and none reported missing. I wonder if the bride and groom didnt overspend and think they would extort cash from Castle Hill, or maybe the money was never placed in the box by the wonderful relative that claimed to have left it.Think about it...As for the coordinating of the wedding, Tess was able to handle our large crowd of outspoken young men and women and get them down the aisle. The rest of the night she watched our crowd and things took place as she, the sober one, felt should happen. If I am correct, some of her services are included in the venue fee and others are additional. Maybe some brides should hire an outside Day of Wedding Coordinator if they expect to be catered to every minute of the day and evening. I know from experience this can be an addional $3000 or more. I think Tess handled our event just fine and my friend saved $3000!The Staff! Oh My! We could not have been happier with the staff. The bartenders were fun and the rest of the staff kept our tables clean from dirty plates and cups all night. They worked hard and alway had smiles on their faces. We especially loved Lanie and Jessica!REMEMBER- there are 2 sides to every story. Unhappy people are usually that way all the time so please dont let a negative review influence you, especially one where police were involved and found no fault in Castle Hill. Jean has a great crew working for her! Castle HIll is an amazing venue and I would recommend it to anyone planning a wedding in Oxford.Mary Dale WalkerAllen, TX
Well put together for a formal I attended.
Awesome food and decor!!! Loved it!
Luxurious!

Nice place
This place is beautiful!
People are rude but nice place
Jean and Randy are wonderful hosts. Breakfast is fantastic!! A big plus when you are traveling. They make you feel like you are at their home. The room was beautiful. We stayed in the Rebel room. Shower is huge and bathroom was fantastic. Property is beautiful and well kept. We will go back and stay when we visit our daughter at school. It’s about 8 minutes from Ole Miss and if you want quiet and southern hospitality stay here. Thanks for the great stay.
