I cannot say enough good about Black Hammock. This is where I proposed to my now fiance. They really pulled out all the stops AND helped keep everything discreet until the moment I proposed. The office staff was great with helping us move things around when we had some hiccups happen before we arrived. I truly cannot say enough good about Black Hammock and their airboat tours!
We had such a fabulous time! Captain Tim was fantastic, kind and informative and everyone had the best experience!!! I highly recommend the one hour tour! We will definitely be back, and will bring more friends and family! Thank you for a wonderful morning!
Had a great time and a great experience. Good location that is pretty central to anywhere in Orlando area. Saw many gators and other wildlife. I had purchased a Buy 5 Get 1 free ticket deal online and when I checked out the system billed for the cost of 6 tickets instead of 5. I didnt catch that and when we showed up to check in for our ride the office staff caught the mistake and refunded me the price of the extra ticket I had paid for. If they hadnt said anything I never would have known I had been overcharged. I really appreciate the honesty and integrity.
Airboat ride was a ton of fun! We got to hold a gator and see parrots! Good prices. Highly recommend.
This was a pretty cool experience. We were visiting family and they planned a surprise trip of taking us out on a lake with 10,000 alligators and the only thing separating us from the gators was the hull of the fan boat. The captain of the boat built suspense but showing us bite marks on the boat ;)! This was our first experience being on an airboat and it was pretty cool. The captain was a spectacular driver, we were doing 360’s, taking high speed turns and drifting on the water. Everyone on the boat had ear to ear smiles during the whole ride. The trip ended with a sample platter of fried alligator. Human:1, Gator:0. ‘MERICA baby!
Sonya at the gift shop was awesome to our family! She went above and beyond to make our gator experience phenomenal and unforgettable. She set us up to feed the gators and the birds. In addition, we got to touch and feel a 4-year old gator! The General Manager also extended exceeding service, assisting me with an issue my rental vehicle and allowing our kids to handle another baby gator while we waited.
My brother and sister in law recommended it. Great fun for the family. Friendly airboat Captain Will. Throughout the boat ride, really got to enjoy the Florida wildlife. We saw alligators up close and personal in their natural homes. Educational tour with discussion of nearby wildlife, not only limited to alligators. The airboat ride is a unique experience with great maneuvering by the captain.
Captain Tim was awesome! Earlier the better. Great nature ride.
Had a fun little airboat ride, it was hard to hear the guide over the sound of the fan engine but other than that it was a pleasant little experience.
I had a great time riding the boat and getting to see the wildlife. Theres so many types of birds and plenty of gators. The guides are fun and knowledgeable and swing the boat through the water. Plus theres a restaurant and bar on site to eat or drink while you wait for your ride. If youre in the area I highly recommend this.
If you are wanting to see Alligators and other FL animals in the wild this is the tour for you! Don’t judge a book by its cover. The store, restaurant area, etc are a bit run down but we chose this location because it’s situated on Lake Jessup and has one of the highest gator populations! We saw them even before boarding the boat! It was unreal. Our captain was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. My favorite part was actually a flock of hundreds of pelicans that took flight right in front of our boat! Surreal! If you aren’t looking for gimmicks and want a nature show go to Black Hammock!
Incredible experience! I needed to reschedule our original reservation after purchasing tickets, and the Black Hammock staff were very friendly and accommodating. They seem to have boats leaving every 30 minutes. We had about 10 people on our boat, but there were room for more. The trip around Lake Jesup was nothing less than amazing. The captain was a skilled driver and knowledgeable guide. As he sped through back channels and marshy areas, he pointed out wildlife and shared facts about what we saw.Ear protection was provided, but you must bring your own eye protection. Simple sunglasses do the trick.Definitely come check this out! And stop by the restaurant for a snack after!
Should have more to see more animals but loved the feeding and the birds mostly parrot
Awesome ride with Captain Steve Sunday morning with the family celebrating my nephews birthday. The weather was perfect.Exhilarating ride through waterways looking for any wildlife.Glimpsed a tail but mostly beautiful waterfowl, herons and juvenile bald eagles. Then back to fish camp where we had the opportunity to hold the lovely lil Lucy. For most a once in a lifetime experience. She was very cool.In more ways than one.Cant wait to go again.
We had a great time! Visiting from Utah and Idaho and it gave us a great taste of what Florida is like! We saw lots of gators and very cool birds. The ride was smooth and fun and our captain was great. We even tasted gator afterwards! We loved our experience
This made our date night a nightmare. For starters we waited ten minutes just to get our band to see the sunset. The waitresses looked at us several times without attending to us. The waitress angie rudely told my husband to wait with her finger practically in his face. It was apparent there was some communication issues amongst the staff. Finally we were seated and waited another 20 minutes just to get a menu we had requested. Waited about 25 minutes for chips n queso. We had stepped away to see the view and came back to horrible angie who had thrown away the rest of our food and brand new drinks, then had the nerve to say she only threw away trash and plates meanwhile there clearly was food left and two FULL drinks. Not to mention the waitress that put on her retainer in the middle of her shift. NEVER WILL GET OUR BUSINESS AGAIN!!
Nice place to hangout with friends and family especially at sunset. Friendly staff. Quite and beautiful place to spend. They also have gators and various birds.
My husband and myself were visiting Orlando Florida for our honeymoon, we decided to try out Black Hammocks Airboat tour. I must say although we didnt get to see any alligators while Im the marsh we did get to see the cattle in the marsh lol that blew my mind alone. Also Captain Shawn was great. Whatever questions we asked he was very knowledgeable. And although we were the only 2 on the boat he treated us as if the boat was full and went above trying to get us to see something. And customer service was good as well. thank you all. All the way from the 757 VA. P.S. we loved Lucy.
As always, the airboat rides are terrific. Captain Tim did a super job! Staff is very friendly.
Our airboat captain was Will. He was an awesome guide. He was fun and great with the kids.
First time on an air boat. It was really fun. Saw many different bird species, gators and a gator having a snack... Loved it!!!
My family of five thoroughly enjoyed our airboat ride around Black hammock lake. Although the gators werent out, we saw lots of beautiful scenery. We even saw a bald eagle and nest! Captain Steve was fun, safe, and knowledgeable. I recommend the ride! Go early and watch weather.
Epic boat ride by Will ...great guide
Really wonderful experience. Served our family just right.
It was fun. They just need to clean up around the property. Really dirty and messy.
We use to come here for years. Stopped three years ago because of the service and food quality. Last week we decided to try it out again, boy was that a mistake. The food was terrible! Gator bites were soggy and extremely greasy. The services was a joke. The waitress was not attentive at all. Their food is so overpriced for the quality. I regret giving them another shot. I can honestly say we will never be back, not my family, not my friends and not my colleagues. I definitely do not recommend this place.
Definitely recommend this place! It is an especially good deal if you get one of the package deals. The one I got included a free drink (with novelty beverage container), some gator bites, and an airboat tour. The airboat ride really slaps! Be prepared for some intense wind because you go pretty fast. Overall lots of fun and something way different than the amusement parks. I got to hold a smaller gator with my friend too, it was much softer than I would have expected. Orlando has lots to offer besides the amusement parks.
Friendly and very informative service!Beautiful ride. But the big birds in small cages, who are loosing their feathers because of stress, are just plain sad.
This was an amazing adventure. Captain Tim was so nice, the airboat ride was awesome, tons of alligators, beautiful birds. We also got to hold a real live alligator named Lucy. Loved it️
I will always go here when I have out of town guests. It’s the perfect place for people to experience “Old Florida” life without it being Disney and theme park related. The boat drivers are always personable and make the ride enjoyable with their jokes and knowledge.
Excellent service. Great ride. Saw lots of alligators and birds...Capt. Jason was humorous and knowledgeable... Also has a restaurant, bar, bird feeding enclosure and alligator feeding enclosure. And an alligator to hold in your hands !
Small groups, great captain, fun ride, lots of wildlife to be seen.
Always fun, love the Florida scenery!
Enjoyed the time spent there. We went on a Wednesday and it was not crowded. Storms were in the area when we arrived and they were very careful about waiting for the lightening and storm to blow over before we went out. Nice ride and information was provided and you could ask questions. We decided to eat there and the food was really good. You can actually launch your own boat from their ramp and the cost is $10.00. I believe you can use the ramp from 9:00 till 6:00. Nice day in a relaxed setting.
Captain Steve was very knowledgable, took time to answer everyones questions throughout our hour tour, and showed the tour a fun time on the water! We had a beautiful day with so many sitings for alligators and wildlife (even though the wildlife determine those aspects of the tour!) We have been both on the 30-minute and the full hour tours. All of our guests enjoyed the full hour, and we agree, having the hour allows for more sitings and education throughout the tour experience. Thanks Black Hammock!
My daughter and I signed up for a tour and to feed the alligators. The whole experience was great. Bobby was a great tour guide. We loved all of the rescued birds. Lucy is great. Even found gators right by the dock!
We had an amazing ride today with Sami! We saw at least 10 gators and many birds. Just beautiful. The airboat ride Sami took us on was informative and most of all FUN!! The food at the restaurant was also delicious. Kirsten was a friendly and fast server with a big welcoming smile! Definetly recommend doing an airboat ride here with Sami! You will love it!
Better than everglades! Something different to do in Orlando.
So fantastic! Really had a great time.
What an amazing experience! At first we were a little skeptical, but we would do this again in a heart beat. They were running a little behind so the owner, Joel, took us out for our boat ride. WHAT A TREAT! We saw alligators and all sorts of wildlife. My family absolutely loved this part of the vacation and it was easily one of the highlights that we will be talking about for years. Be sure to stop at the restaurant and get some delicious food!
My son and I spent a long weekend in Florida for his 8th birthday. We decided we wanted to do the airboat ride instead of the zoo on the morning of the day we were flying back to Pittsburgh. The staff at this place was incredible! The ticketing/giftshop people, the boat captain, and the restaurant staff were amazing! I feel awful I forgot to tip the boat captain. He deserved at least $20. We saw so many alligators, turtles, and birds! It was a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant was good. Feeding the alligators hotdogs was a bit boring as they were not hungry, but hand-feeding those gentle macaws peanuts and watching them break them open and eat them was great! I think I may have enjoyed it even more than my son.
Loved the airboat ride. Lake Jessup is beautiful. Captain Ron was awesome
This was definitely a great day trip! We didn’t know what to expect, but the boat ride was nice, fast and scenic. We only saw one gator out by bird island which was a little disappointing. We did get to hold a baby gator at the end of the ride though. Food was mediocre at best, I’d skip the restaurant part if we went back. Overall a fun experience.
Drove from the gulf side all the way here on our way to the airport to do an airboat ride. Now I regret all the other airboat places we could have stopped at to get here. Lake Jesup is beautiful but we waited over an hour for an airboat tour and by the time our captain was ready it was sunset and he said we probably wouldn’t see any gators at that point...and we didn’t. It was fun, the lake is a beaut and we saw lots of birds but not worth it for the price I paid for a family of 3 plus tip...btw, they expect 20%! So $110 later we also didn’t get to take pics with the baby gators because they had closed down by the time we were done. With our long wait beforehand someone should have offered this to us, we didn’t know it wouldn’t be available to do after our ride.As far as the restaurant side it took 15 minutes for someone to appear to seat and serve us, even though the place was dead. We even walked around looking for someone and almost left. It was the first and last time I’ve eaten gator, it definitely didn’t taste like chicken and some of the pieces were so tough I had to spit them out. Not sure if that’s the norm for gator meat but I wasn’t impressed.Maybe service is better earlier in the day when they are busy doing tours but it was lacking when we went. It’s a shame because we went out of our way to get here.
Awesome airboat ride...Gators and lots of birdsCaptain Tim is fun and safe...will do it again!
They wont tell you about off season. We didnt see any gators yet they were aware it was off season and didnt tell us about that before we bought our tickets. If we knew we would have only had lunch and looked at the caged gators. We were told at least we got some breeze and they cant control nature when asking about this but at least inform customers prior to purchasing the on-season dates so we know. By the way its February-March if you plan on going, they wont tell you unless they already have your money.Food was good at least and they let you hold a gator if you dont do a boat tour. The guide was friendly.
Very friendly & a adventure place!!great staff
Eric was our captain he was very nice.We saw a gator with a fish in his mouth. We saw some beautiful pink birds . LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!
The trip 6/10Service 8/10Atmosphere 9/10Price 8/10Parking 10/10
Fabulous ride. Amazing how it goes right over the grass. Lots of birds, gator and turtles. Even got to hold Lucy, a baby gator.
Capt. Jay was awesome, fun ride!
Airboat ride and gator bites. Great fun! 2 for 1 margaritas, too!
This was so much fun. Saw lots of gators and birds. Captain was very knowledgeable.
People are really nice and ensure you have a good time.
Airboat ride was great! Restaurant food was average. Table service was horrible!!
Excellent Air boat ride, saw LOTS of birds and alligators. If you ever get hero, ask for Captain Chris, he is simply the greatest!! Also aye at the restaurant and had JUMBO frogs legs and Cajun flavored Alligator ( rivals the state of Louisiana!)
30 minutes is not long enough.. you need to book a longer tour... we left wanting more.
Me and my family had a blast here. Very friendly staff and the captain was so cool! My youngest and oldest elected to take a picture with a baby gator too!
First time holding a gator! It was awesome! I really enjoyed the airboat ride and we were able to see a gator out in the tall grass protecting its nest. Super cool and Id reccomend!
We had a blast our captain was great we saw a few gators. We got to hold a baby one.
If I could give no stars i would. This was the worst experience ever. This place was recommended to us so we called to make a reservation. We were hung up on the first time so we had to call back. After calling back we were on hold for actually 15 minutes only to be told that we needed to make a reservation online. The online reservation was not necessary and they charged extra online fees. After showing up to experience our 1 hour tour that only lasted 30 minutes we politely asked to only be charged for the 30 minute rate, as did the other group on our ride. They were promptly given a refund. We were offered an additional ride to which we declined. We were then told that we would receive a refund and would only be prorated the 30 minute rate. We asked how much would be refunded but was told by the cashier that he did not know exactly right now. We asked for a receipt or some kind of assurance but was told they could not provide that right now. We have waited 2 weeks for a refund and called back today only to be told that it was no note of this incident. We were told they would refund us within the next 2 to 3 days but that is what they said last time . If you are reading this I encourage you to take an air boat ride with someone else. Customer service was trash and communication between captains and the office were not existant.
Awesome!!! Wish more alligators were out but loved the airboat! First timer here! The baby alligator was so cute!
Fun time. Very knowledgeable captain. Well worth the visit.
Had a blast. Took the 1 hour tour.
Had a great airboat experience but didnt see a single alligator that day!
The saleswoman would not honor their online promo for buy 3 get 1 free. She said it couldnt be bought and used on the same day... We saw 2 alligators on the boat ride.
Very friendly staff. I ordered the gator tacos. They only offer blackened or grilled. I kindly asked them to fry the gator tail. They accommodated my request without hesitation. Best tacos Ive ever had. I recommend this place as it has good food and a great feeling of serenity due to the location and vibe.
Good view of alligators of various sizes and even the trees and plants are fun to look at. An underrated part is the variety of birds you get to see. The airboat is louder than youd expect so they give you headphones. If youre taking pictures, hold your device tight because the boat goes fast and you may drop it.
Captain Steve ran an awesome boat, he was informative, really knowing the ecology, birds and animals and plants and trees - all delivered with a lot of humor, jokes and fun. And he piloted our air boat expertly through some back channels and sped across open areas making for a great.day. Well be back, and well ask for Capitan Steve by name!PS the restaurant was good, with a good variety menu, including local like gator bites and catfish. Waitress service there and the bar was quick and friendly.
Awesome time the driver is very knowledgeable about the lake and the wildlife you have to try it out!!
The birds were amazing. Fun ride in the airboat!
First time on a boat ride and yes was nervous but our driver Steve was polite and funny witch made our ride a lot better and comfortable thanks will definitely be back
It started off a little late. The coast guards showed up for a surprise inspection. But my girls feed the alligators they had there while we waited. They loved that. The ride itself was so much fun! Our Captain, Brian (i think) was great! He took us all around showing us everything on the lake.. And then we went across the lake and bam.. Gator central! We saw about 15ish? Then when headed out of there, he took us over a little embankment. Haha. It was fun and we got soaked! But it was a thrilling ride and we enjoyed it all! We also got to hold baby Lucy. Shes 3.
This was really fun. A nice look at the natural side of Seminole county. Youll spot lots of gators and other wildlife as you creep through the marshes and then race across Lake Jessup. Its a bit pricey but lots of enjoyment.
Absolutely amazing! My first time ever riding on a airboat! The tour was great you learn a lot about the gators and other wildlife living in the swampy area! YOU MUST GIVE THEM A TRY!!!!
Capt. Steve was amazing. He gave us a private tour at the end of the day that was absolutely amazing
The Airboat ride was awesome! You can ask the pilot to go fast or slow, do turns and so on, all within safety standards. We were able to watch a Bald Eagle and quite a few crocodiles. The restaurant had good food and you can buy a souvenir glass of beer and get refills with a discount. You must try the crocodile meat taster!!
The best place to get a real Florida experience. I love every aspect of the place. People nature and fun. Great to visit. Ill be back for sure. The guide was fun.
I thought this would be cheesy but it was GREAT. Our guide knew all about the lake and all the wildlife. The retardant was also good after the airboat ride.
The restaurant has good food and drinks; the airboat tides on Lake Jessup were a blast.
Airboat ride to see modern day dinosaurs. No guarantees if youll see any, you are traveling around a massive lake.
Black Hammock is one of those uniquely Florida experiences. Located on lake Jessup which is famous for having one of the highest concentration of alligators anywhere in Florida, this is the place to be for gator lovers. A restaurant, a bar, a music venue, animal encounters, this place has it all. Not to mention of course, air boat rides. The best way to see wild Florida. So head over there, grab a drink from the bar and see how many wild alligators you can spot!
Im originally from California but live here in Florida. Two years ago brother came out for the races I want to take him to do something Floridian. So we went the Black Hammock and took the gator airboat ride. We had a blast we saw all kinds of things, our driver was fantastic we were out there for more than an hour and 10 minutes, great! worth every penny. This weekend when he came back with my niece she booked a trip out of another place and we had her cancel because we wanted to go back to Black Hammock because it was such a fantastic experience. What a mistake, it was the last boat ride of the day, the captain didnt seem very interested giving tour. We were in the boat for less than 20 minutes. Wasnt even offered to see the small gator . It must have been the end of his day and didnt want anything else to do, horrible experience. I work at a resort in Daytona and always highly recommended it for the last two years because of my great experience prior, I will never do it again or recommend to my guests.
Took family of 9 for airboat ride this morning, it was a great time for all, for some their first time. The Captain was friendly, funny, and safety conscious. Saw Gators, Herons, Osprey and beautiful cypress trees. Love the wind blowing in your face. I think the captain was from New Jersey though but he past the test. Thank you guys worth the money in my book!
Had such a fun air boat ride at Black Hammock. There is a restaurant, bar, parrot area, outdoor seating, and the option to hold an alligator after the boat ride. Staff was super friendly. Awesome atmosphere. Great place to visit in Oviedo.
What a great way to start the day! Captain Sammy is the bomb!
Awesome time! Great fun on the airboat. Captain was knowledgeable and funny. Onsite bar and restaurant with relaxed atmosphere and a better than expected beer selection.
Best place every to go see alligators. They have excellent tour guides and a very friendly staff. If you are in the Orlando area you should definitely take a couple hours out of your day and visit this amazing place. It is a part of Orlando you would have never thought existed. I will definitely be back.
Great way to view wildlife and wetlands. Be sure to dress really warmly if the weather is cool--speeding across the lake in an open boat is a chilling experience in cold weather.
My children and I did an last minute decision to try the airboats. Everyone we interacted with; captain, restaurant staff and gift shop were friendly and made you feel comfortable and welcome. We were a little early for our boat so we got some alligator food (hot dogs) and fed them. My kids had a blast. A gentleman passed by us a few times and always had something to say it point out. When it finally was our turn the same gentleman was our captain I believe Will ( I am terrible with names). He was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. My kids loved the airboats and when it went fast and did turns. It was a great time. The food at the restaurant was very quick and tasty. We will definitely recommend it and we will be back again.
Four stars because we did have to wait an hour even though we had a reservation. If you make reservations online you should call and make sure they are aware of them at least a day before. Just my advice. The guy that did our tour was really great even though he came in on his day off to take us. We really enjoyed our airboat ride thanks to him.
Great airboat ride and a lot of info about the area
Arrived later in the day, it was very peaceful, with a cup of beer we enjoyed the view - birds, turtles, aligators...
Great airboat rides without having to drive too far.
Quite remote (for Orlando) and natural environment, a great way to see not just alligators but lots of other interesting wildlife. Very unspoilt, great guides and excellent food in the restaurant. If you want to go on a non-touristy airboat, this place is perfect
