Goldfish Swim School in Overland Park is absolutely phenomenal. Ive said for a long time that this program has the cleanest, most organized facility in Johnson County for children. It rings even more from since COVID. While every precaution is taking place, they still provide a compassionate and engaging service. Not to mention, my 4.5 year old can now swim completely independently, understands water safety and looks forward to a healthy activity. We love the staff there and are so grateful Goldfish is in our community!
I was a little concerned at first when I saw the lane size for each class. My previous experience was with the pool at the YMCA for my daughter’s swim lessons, but the kids have plenty of room to do their strokes and not feel crowded. My daughter has flourished while attending Goldfish Swim School. She is more confident in the water and looks forward to her lessons each week.
We HIGHLY recommend Goldfish SwimSchool, the team is AMAZING!! They have taught our 18 month old to be strong and confident in the water. We started him at 6months old and that is the best decision we could’ve made, the younger the better!! Thanks to Goldfish he can hold his breathe underwater for long periods of time. Thanks Goldfish, we love the team!!!
Great school! Really enjoy the process, teachers and staff. Highly recommended..
You all have done everything you can to reopen and we are happy to be a part. The teachers are so kind and my daughter never wants to leave. Thanks for all you do!
Great teachers. Very patient and kind. My granddaughter has learned so much in her classes!
Great place. Kids love it and swim teachers are very good with the kids! Happy we started going here. Wish we would have started sooner!
Awesome classes and instructors! My son loves his swimming lessons!
Our kids adore GFKC, the staff and the beachy vibes! I have two boys that were either not skilled in the water or not confident. After only a few weeks, they are incredible swimmers, trusting of the water and their ability to navigate a pool and even self-rescue in an emergent situation. I feel so good knowing that I no longer have to worry about whether or not they could handle falling into a pool or get to safety.Lily and Whitley brought my timid littles too confident swimmers! The biggest thing to note about their growth with GFKC is that this confidence and capability gain has translated into multiple areas of their life. They dive into everything with a smile! And during 2020, Goldfish has gone above and beyond to ensure every safety measure while also maintaining the personal care and attention of the kids. We don’t feel like we are missing any of the special experience that GFKC strives to bring during *non-Covid* circumstances. But the kids definitely can’t wait until hugs are back in style. :)We love GFKC!
Good in theory, but left something to be desired. The regimented concept of the swimming lessons seemed ideal when we started with our 4 year old. Different levels of classes for growing and progressing skills. However, after our guy got stuck in a particular course for 3+ months because he couldnt get his back float down, we had to cancel. He was nailing everything else, but did struggle with his back float. Wed practice at the public pool and open swim to no avail. He started to get bored with focusing most all of his time on the back float, while other kids in his class werent to his skill level swimming. We asked if we could just bump him up to the next class to further challenge him with swimming while working on the back float outside of class with no success. It made me wonder if the subscription service of the swim lessons with strict adherence to nailing every skill set before moving up was more about teaching kids to swim or making more money. Im 38 years old, a pretty strong swimmer, but not that good at back floating. Soon, our little guy just didnt like going to swim lessons any more, knowing it was more about the back float than swimming. It also got pretty boring as a parent going to lessons and watching him spend so much time trying to back float. On the positive, the facilities (pool and otherwise) are great and open swim is fun. The viewing area is great too, enabling parents to watch their kids from outside the pool area.
We started taking our 6 month here for swim lessons about two months ago, and it’s been a great experience. The swim instructors are wonderful and encouraging, and all of the staff is super helpful and kind. The facility is large and accommodating, and is always clean. There are plenty of changing rooms and storage cubbies as well. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking out swim lessons for their kids.
Our experience at Goldfish Swim School has just been incredible. From the actual lessons, to the facility to the welcoming and friendly staff. We have loved attending the lessons and can see the progress in our young daughter. Swim safety is so important, so I would highly recommend Goldfish for kids of all ages!
I enrolled my five-year-old grandson at Goldfish Swim School for swimming lessons during July. The facility has a warm inviting pool which is ideal for teaching little ones to swim. Parents (grandparents) can watch comfortably in the A/C from the viewing area which also includes a play area for younger siblings. Swimmers can change in one of the many private dressing rooms, and there are dryers for your swimsuit. The facility is very clean and well managed. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating in finding the most convenient time for my grandson to have his lessons, and I cannot say enough about the quality of the instruction and the patience and genuine concern of the swimming instructors. Its a wonderful place for children to learn to swim!
Unfortunately we had a lot of issues with inconsistent teachers. Every week we would have someone new which made it very hard for my son to progress since the new teacher would not know where he was. We complained several times and they gave us a free lesson but that didnt improve anything. After complaining again the owner said the new person at that class time was more consistent but the next week there was still someone new! I finally cancelled and when I cancelled they offered to switch times to an instructor who was consistent. Im still not sure why this wasnt offered until after I cancelled. The front desk girl told me that they could at least make the last few lessons really good. When we came in at the new time, I find out that again we have a sub for this consistent teacher. I was very mad and tried to stop our lessons completely. They couldnt do that but offered a discount so we finished our last few classes. We are switching to private lessons elsewhere after this.In addition to the inconsistent instructors, I also feel like the group lessons take away a lot of time. Between people running late, kids crying, and just switching between kids, my son probably only gets about 7 minutes of actual instruction. He did seem to have fun but learning is very slow. Maybe if they hired instructors who werent high school students they might get people who are more consistent with less turnover.
Highly recommend Goldfish Swim School in OP! My almost three year old loves going every week and weve been super impressed by the water skills hes gained in just a few short months. The facilities are top notch, VERY CLEAN and kid friendly. As working parents with busy schedules, we personally love that they offer a wide range of swim times and allow for make-up sessions. The staff has always been very kind and knowledgeable as well. 5 Stars from this family!
We are so happy our girls starts in glider 1 this spring. They have so much more confidence in the water and Im much less nervous to have them around the pool without floaties on. Thanks Goldfish!UPDATE: My 6 year-old daughters look forward to their glider 2 class every week - they adore every bit of their lessons. My youngest (turned 2 in July) started trying the parent-in-the-pool lessons and did terribly with me. He screamed and wanted out; we tried 3 weeks in a row. The instructor suggested the instructor-led classes with parents not in the pool. They worked with Ashe 1:1 for 3 weeks until he was comfortable. And it wasnt easy. I had to hide from him! He is now smiling and practicing with his teachers just like his sisters, and I can watch him again without him freaking out. This week, the instructor wanted to get him used to being with another teacher, but she made sure she was present and on the side of the pool to encourage him. He did amazing with that transition. I was so impressed at the organization of having her available if he needed her, but still encouraging him to try with another teacher. Our kids adore it and you all do a great job!
We absolutely loved our experience at Goldfish swim school. Every instructor we had the opportunity to work with was great not only with my child, but helping me understand why we were doing the things we were. My nephew had tried swim lessons in the past and ended up quitting. Now after watching 2 of my daughters swim lessons he is excited and ready to do lessons of his own and get back in the pool. Huge thank you to Miss Abby for being the best instructor for my daughter. You have an exceptional staff and we look forward to our next round of lessons.
Super clean, super fun super fantastical !!!! Free visit to check out and see for yourself awesome awesome and awesomeness
We only did Goldfish for a month and a half to two months but it’s one of the best decisions we could’ve made for our baby girl. The instructors are so kind and they really want to see your kids do well. I know as she gets older Goldfish is a place we will come back to and for the time being we have a good set of things we can work on with her. As a new Mom I feel confident and comfortable with her in the water too.
We love Goldfish. The teachers are all great and the facility is awesome. Our son has made great progress in just a few months.
Great experience for the kiddos. Very clean compared to other swim locations I have visited. The only feedback would be to keep instructors consistent. Besides that the staff is great and I have never really had any complaints.
Goldfish Swim School in Overland Park is a great place for a kid to learn how to swim. The facility is excellent, bright and inviting with all the amenities needed. Our grandson has been going there for about 4 months and we think it is by far the best place he has been to for lessons. Instructors Emily and Zack are excellent with kids and we have been very pleased with our grandsons progress. He is eager to go to class every week.
Both of our sons have been attending Goldfish since right after they opened. Our little started at 10 months last year and has become so comfortable in the water and they are already teaching him safety skills. Our 6 year old had tried other lessons in the past and struggled but since joining he has blossomed in the water. First he loves loves it and second he has learned so much. The facilities are very clean and the staff is so helpful and nice. I give them the best review I can, they are awesome!!
“Goldfish provides a gold star swimming experience to the kiddos, which is exactly what they need to make them more comfortable with the water and being in it!„
Attended the grand opening of the Goldfish in Overland Park, KS. Had a great time with the grandson. The event was well attended and the school is new, clean and very modern. The pool is warm and the humidity is low, making for a very comfortable swimming environment. The school had a lot of activities for the kids along with a lunch that included hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, ice cream and cold beverages. Highly recommended become a member if looking for a great place for children to learn to swim. The instructors are knowledgable and friendly and the membership fee is reasonably priced. Truly enjoyed the day. Thank you staff at Goldfish Overland Park.
My 15 month old gets a huge smile, sucks in her breath, and kicks her feet when we get out of the car and she sees we are at swim lessons. The lessons teach necessary safety skills as well as preparing the children with skills they will need to start swiming on their own.The staff is so friendly. The facilty is so clean. It is just a wonderful experience.
Tried the community swimming lessons, but with my sons ADHD that was not going anywhere. Got him in swimming lessons here and it has worked wonders. He floats on his back, puts his head under water, and is swimming a little ways on his own in just 2 months.
Highly impressed with this facility. We just had our first class here and it was a wonderful experience. We have taken classes with another swim school locally for a while, but already after one class we can tell Goldfish exceeds our previous experiences. The staff is highly trained, they keep the kids safe and the amenities are top-notch.
Love all the staff there! My daughter enjoys her lessons. The atmosphere is wonderful. Toys for kids to play with while they wait. Changing area is so nice and clean.
Everyone that works here is absolutely amazing! The ladies at the desk and the swim instructors. They are so patient with the kids and in general amazing customer service. I would recommend them to anyone for lessons!!
“Great instructors, awesome facility. Our whole family loves Goldfish and weve highly recommended it to many others already.„
We love Goldfish! The facilities are great and the instructors are so patient!
For those of you considering both Goldfish and the other popular school in Leawood, look no further. We have attended both and have been blown away by Jill and her staff. My kids went from moaning and groaning about swim lessons to begging to go. The amenities are awesome, the people accommodating and facilities are clean.
My daughter just had her first class here and it was great! The facility is brand new, wonderful amenities, and the staff works awesome with the kids and parents. I’m fully recommend this school!
Great place, super clean, friendly staff, kids love the teachers, very flexible with cancellation and rescheduling...we had great experience in Michigan and again here..in brief everything you want in a kids swimming school
I want to give a HUGE shout out to the desk staff & Emily. On Wednesday 1/16, my 6 yr old son had a bit of a melt down because I forgot to pack his swim shirt. He sat down on the floor & cried that he couldnt swim without a shirt. The staff went WAY out of the way to help console him. We tried to get him to wear a GF shirt or his regular shirt & then have a GF shirt to wear home. Nothing satisfied him. Emily came out of the pool area and literally gave him the shirt off of her back! I am so thankful for your wonderful caring staff. They turned around a tired 6 yr old boy and helped him to enjoy his lesson!
Friendly encouraging staff. The kids leave lessons wanting to swim more.
We love Goldfish! So clean and theyve thought of everything.
Great place for kids to learn how to swim.
Miss Andrea is excellent.
Theyre wonderful with my kids! My kids were a little scared of the water at first but that fear went away after the first lesson!
Great place that cares about the kids and their families.
