Cozy seating and ambiance. Large establishment with private party room, even a space for larger family get togethers.Plates were well dressed and pretty. Order time seemed fair and portions were good sized. There is a bar area if you are just looking for a few cocktails and an appetizer. I definitely recommend the loaded oysters (cant recall the exact name) and the cheese plate (tastebuds sensations!)
What a great place. I visited because the menu sounded interesting and I wanted to check out the live jazz. Well the music was great and the food was as well. I liked that the room where the live music is played is quite large and even had a small dance floor which quite a few diners enjoyed. I had a seasonal dish of wild boar and it was great. The cheese plate appetizer was a bit much for one person but each of the cheeses were unique and Id get it again.
Decent food with good ambience. Near to the church and is a fun lunch spot afterwards! Nothing special and would not go if not good location! Service also was poor as the waiter stated they had diarrhea after serving us drinks.
We enjoy going out. Last night we visited this excellent restaurant which we didn’t know before. We enjoyed a beautiful experience there with great meal and a well-trained crew and a distinguished chef. We put this place in our phone list and we will surely return soon. We highly recommend.
Friday happy hour includes food and drink selections. Live music contributes to atmosphere. Attentive service was provided by staff and the owner was on-site greeting patrons. We tried a berry martini, calamari, cold spiced shrimp, blackened fish tacos and a flat bread appetizer. Portions were generous and delicious!
Birthday DinnerThree of us went for my birthday. This was our 3 time there in the last year. One was for our mothers 95 birthday. The service is excellent there if you want them, but not waiting in the corner.Drinks were expertly made. Dinner was as always perfect.Complimentary carrot cake was large enough for us to share.Perhaps my favorite restaurant.Prices in line (maybe to reasonable) for a sit down excellent meal.
We took a group of 6 to dine in the back room during the live jazz from 6-9. (The jazz band was very good and entertaining. The pianist was incredibly talented!) The service was great. The food was excellent (and portions were well worth the price). My husband and I shared the Porterhouse and Crab legs for 2 for $69. The crab legs were cooked to perfection and were the best Ive had since visiting the coast. We also had the calamari and beef tenderloin as appetizers. The calamari was incredible. We would return again and again.
Sunday brunch buffet is simply phenomenal. The best brunch buffet Ive been to yet. The mac and cheese is mouthwatering. The fruit smoothie was a mix of watermelon and other fruits and a refreshing addition to the wide array of main courses. Prime rib, B&G, omelets, tilapia, jambalaya, grilled veggies, smoked salmon, dessert bar...literally everything was soo amazing. Oh, and the twice baked mashed potatoes - going to be dreaming about it. The Bloody Mary was prime, too!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of the Kansas City metro area. The food is cooked to Perfection. The jazz band is wonderful. The Ambiance of the restaurant is great. My sweetheart used to take me here all the time.
We are very disappointed in the fact that, while all of your competing restaurants have reopened and are doing a great job of keeping us safe with social distancing & mask wearing when not seated, that you have remained closed. We travel from Blue Springs, MO about every week to dine out South, very sad that you’ve kind of fallen out of our rotation.
Great little place. We stopped in to have some dessert and catch a little of the live Jazz Music.Place is hidden in the background but now that we know it’s there. We will be backCarrot Cake was amazing!!!!
Had not been to gaslight in a while, this evening Bristol had a 30 minute wait. Gas light was clutch in the pinch. B provided us with excellent service, seafood was great, and really nice sized portions. Will be back soon
The food was outstanding and the service was incredible. Weve been wanting to visit for several years, but rarely dine in that part of town. Ive never had a restaurant take my shellfish allergy as seriously as Gaslight Grill did. They let me know all the precautions they were taking to ensure my safety. We will most definitely be back.
Beautiful Birthday dinner and free birthday Chocolate cake. And my beautiful wife Nancy!!!
Our new favorite place to go! Just had Beef Wellington for Valentines Day. I must say the flavor was beyond my expectation. I loved every bit. Wow! My wife loved her filet. Great meal!
Amazing quality wonderful place tasty Easter Brunch
My first time here. Stopped in after work today for something different. Was pleasantly surprised at the Happy Hour menu! I ordered the Spinach Artichoke Flatbread, it was DELICIOUS! I sat at the bar and my bartender, Ryan, was amazing. Super sweet and helpful. I will definitely be back, not just for the food but the great service!
5 star for ambience and live music. 3 star for the food delivered. May be I ordered the wrong ones, who orders chicken breast, fries, cheese chicken noodles in a steak house, I did for my kid and we did not like it. Ordered a lemonade and I expected fresh lemonade but got regular over the counter stuff. Lava cake could be better. Ordered some more but nothing excited me. This place suites for meetings who likes ambience and lighting and steaks.
The attention that we received was kind. I was worried about my food allergy but great care was taken and explained for me. Will or server was attentive and had a great sence of humor. Jake thanks again for the kindness. It made our Anniversary memorable
Food was very good, live music from the Back Room was piped all through the restaurant. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Will definatley return!
UPDATE - 2.25.18Gosh, this place is sooo good! After such a good KCRW experience, my husband and I joined another couple here to celebrate mutual February birthdays. The ambiance, cocktails (you should try the Peartini!), and food...its all good! This is what we ordered:{Appetizer} Calamari - we loved it so much last time and it was just as good as we remembered!{Appetizer} Hummus Trio - delicious, light, & fresh{Salad} Gaslight Wedge - ingredients were fresh and the marmalade they put on top was divine!{Entree #1} Filet Oscar - Center Cut Tenderloin, Lump Crab, Béarnaise, Shrimp Scampi Risotto, Grilled Asparagus - glorious!!!{Entree #2} Stuffed Atlantic Salmon - Lobster, Bay Shrimp, Brie, Tomato Basil Risotto (subbed Roasted Corn Risotto instead!), Asparagus - good but not sure we would order again given all the other options{Birthday Dessert - on the house!} Strawberry Cheesecake - creamy & dreamy{P.S. - the couple we were with ordered the lamb and pork chop entrees and loved them}This place is in our top 3 restaurants list so we will be back =){2018 KC Restaurant Week Review}My husband and I ate here for our 3rd & final KCRW dinner and it was the perfect ending. The food was exceptional! We tried 7 restaurants for KCRW and it was hands-down our favorite meal. The service was fantastic as well.First Course:{Crab Bisque} - great flavor, very tasty{Caesar Salad} - dressing was a tad mayo-ish for me (my only complaint of the whole meal!)Second Course:{Artichoke & Sundried Tomato Stuffed Chicken w/ Tomato Basil Risotto, Sauted Spinach, & Herb Beurre Blanc Sauce} - Im hard to please when it comes to eating chicken at restaurants. Im always disappointed with the flavor! However, this chicken was the best I have ever eaten at a restaurant. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor. The risotto was good, but the roasted corn risotto (below) was better.{Seared Scallops w/ Roasted Corn Risotto, Grilled Asparagus, & Bacon Shallot Jam} - Perfectly cooked scallops and the bacon shallot jam on top was tangy and yummy, almost like a bbq sauce. SO good! Roasted corn risotto was the perfect consistency and flavorful!Third Course:{Chocolate Tiramisu} - I didnt try it but my husband was very impressed!{White Chocolate Cheesecake} - my pick and I loved every bite. The cheesecake was rich and the graham cracker crust was buttery.***We also ordered Calamari (w/ Sweet Potato, Banana Pepper, Orange Horseradish Marmalade Dipping Sauce) off their regular menu, and the sauce was a yummy balance of sweet and tart. I wanted to take some home in a jar! Id also never had sweet potato with calamari but it was a nice combo. Its a drive for us but we will definitely be back again!
Service excellent, our fried items were not good, calamari and seared chicken. Someone else in the group mentioned the calamari was greasy. Also question expensive wine with twist turns in lieu of corks. The waitress was amazing and very helpful. We will try again
Ive been here three times for the Thanksgiving buffet. Most of the food is well prepared but not all. Several dishes were a little chilly and undercooked. The dessert bar is great. Service is great.
The restaurant is beautiful and the live jazz was very nice. The food was blah. So disappointing.
Great experience at the Gaslight Grill. Our waiter Juan was fantastic and eager to please. In addition to great food my wife and I enjoyed listening to the jazz band. Towards the end of our meal the owner came to each table and introduced himself and made small conversation.
One of my favorite places to grab something to eat. convenient location, clean, and excellent customer service. 5 stars!
My husband and I visited The Gaslight Grill for the first time last night for our anniversary. We had a wonderful evening and wonderful food and drinks.the owner, Bruce, came by and checked on us twice. Nice touch. The bar is nice and has a wide offering on their wine list. I had the warpaint cocktail and is was delish. We had made reservations in the Jazz room. The service was excellent and the music was great and not too loud. We let them know it was our anniversary and they gave us a free champagne toast. We had the crab cakes for appetizer and while expensive it was amazing. I got the beef Wellington and it was so tender and delicious. My husband got the ribeye and it was also tender and wonderful! The sides were yummy and the potato soup was Devine. We had the upside down apple dessert and it was fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant! !
Had a great evening, my son took me out. Just me and him. Restaurant week, perfect serving size, wait staff and nice room to have a conversation in.
Very nice place. Great food. Smoked Salmon and Prime Rib are excellent. My new favorite place to eat.
Consistently a Wonderful Experience. While I should start with Gaslight Grills food, I have to say the service is always excellent. The servers make you feel welcomed and that they are glad youre here to dine with them. They are friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the food and drinks. It is always an enjoyable time there because they exceed expectations by anticipating your dining needs. Now, on to their food. We started with the Crab Bisque Soup ($8, $5 with an entree) made from lump crab, carrots, onions, and celery. I would order it as my drink if people didnt think it weird. It has a great creamy flavor and well-balanced profile (many restaurants overdo it on the butter and cream). My date ordered the Stuffed Atlantic Salmon ($34) delightfully crammed with lobster, bay shrimp, brie, served with tomatoe basil risotto and asparagus. The salmon was cooked perfectly (something hard for restaurants to do) and the risotto was also cooked perfectly (its a high-maintainance dish to cook). I ordered the Blue Cheese Crusted Ribeye ($39 for 14 oz) that came with garlic mashed potatoes and French beans. I ordered it medium and it was a wonderful pink throughout the meat -- too many restaurants forget meat continues to cook when taken off the heat and end up overcooking the meat. Not here; again, it was cooked perfectly. The garlic mashed potatoes were buttery and garlicky and is a great accoutrement to a beefy entree. The French beans were still crunchy and just fun to eat. We ended the meal with Carrot Cake ($8) and Creme Brulee with Berries ($8). The cake had a great balance of carrots and sugar; I would only add more walnuts because I cant get enough of them. The creme brulee had a wonder sweet and toasty flavor; I would only add more berries.Lastly, the ambiance always helps to help the perfect mood. Sit in the back of the house when they have live Jazz starting at 6:30 pm. Weve been coming here for years (well before the charming owner, Dick Hawk, passed away) and my only regret is that this is my first review and I have to say every visit prior to this one was also five stars.
I give the atmosphere the two but thats where it ends. We were there on a Sunday for the buffet. Bacon wasnt done and cold, sausage links greasy and you could buy better at the store. The gravy sucked the biscuits dry waffles over cooked. The lunch items like the pasta dry. The store bought wings was good for wings.
DO NOT GASSLIGHTE ME I AM CARMINE rrrr!!!!!!!!!! Rr
Love the Happy Hour! But your lucky to get a table. Good drink specials.
This place is awesome! Good rates, large portions and the staff members are regularly super nice.
Good food but very pricey for our blood. Great jazz music in their back room
Great place for patio sitting, live jazz, and good sea food. Enjoy some great Italian wine!
Gaslight Grill ~ just had its very first celebration advent with Dom Perignon ROSE featuring a RARE un - cut sealed box ROSE vintage 1988 champagne ( customers bottle ) in the wine room.A night to remember....... July 26th 2018 at 6:00 P.M.The experience.........2004 VS. 1988 ROSE will never be forgotten upon the much LUCKY guests who attended only by inventation. A preferred youthful and fruity of the 04 Dom Perignon ROSE was everyones favorite at HART. My 1988 ROSE bottle opening was almost a emotional experience with me being the original owner, though a bold favor of OAK or wooden barrel flavors almost like a brandy and a HIGHER alcohol content NOTED for it still had bubbles and was two shades darker that the 04 ROSE. NO push or POP when the cork came out BUT the cork SWEEKED like there was NO tomarrow for I and am glad the cork didnt brake from the TIGHT seal of 30 years of HISTORY upon its harvested vintage year when most of them had been enjoyed years ago..... never gotten to be fully aged to this date.I still remember enjoying the POPPING sound of the 2009 DOM and how effortlessly the cork came out with MUCH powerful force behind its back as it flew across the room and onto the vaulted ceilings of the Gaslight Grill and bouncing off.
Nice place for night out with your lovie Good food, I couldnt finish all of my steak. A little on the expensive side. Nice decor and lighting.
Great atmosphere, service and food. We were there celebrating a birthday and the waitress even brought over birthday confetti to decorate the table! Pricey, but definitely a great experience!
Solid Dixieland-style music every night. Great food though a bit pricey, but there is no cover charge for the music. Lovely, white table cloth dining room, but dont count on much talking, since the music is very loud.
Went here for a private party. The food was good. The desert was better. The service was great. The drinks were stiff. Good job Gaslight Grill.
Food is amazing. Took my Mother-in-law and she said they had the Best scallops she ever had. Side dishes are extraordinary and the desserts are the perfect ending to a perfect dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and cool. Its perfect for a hot date or for a birthday dinner with family. The owner stopped by our table which made it feel personal. This is a must-see for anyone visiting Kansas City. My family will keep coming back often. Its always a beautiful evening. I cant wait to try the brunch! (Hint: Be sure to make a reservation.)
The food was great during lunch but never tried the dinner menu. I would go back.
Nice life band music and atmosphere to have a dinner with beloved one or friends, tasty food and vine discount on Sundays.
The service is always great my waiters name was Prince this time. The food is always great and you get plenty of it. My favorite dinning area is the jazz room, not to loud and not to soft, the music is always pleasurable to listen too. It is well worth the extra money that you may spend. Quality !
It was my first time experiencing this place. The service was on point, the food was fresh delicious and hot. Definitely will continue to be going back to this place. It definitely did not disappoint. The brunch special on Sunday absolutely worth going for.
Love Gaslight Grill for special occasions and happy hour. Events are nicely handled as well. My friend had an event of 50 or more guests and it seemed seamless. Great place for special moments.
It was a great experience food was great service was impeccable
It was a fantastic experience. Food and staff were excellent.
Where do I begin? I dined there earlier this year when my manager was in town and loved the food. The restaurant is so elegant when thinking of places to propose I said why not gas light? Gave them a call to inquire about special events and Jake (bar manager) reserved the wine room for me same day. I scheduled a tour and Katie (event coordinator) showed me around and gave me an idea of how they can help. She also worked with my event planner and allowed her to opportunity to come in prior to the restaurant opening to set up for me. Long story short, had a terrible storm the day of and my planner cancelled. Did some last minute runs in the storm because I had to get this done. The staff continuously offered help and did actually help me set up because they knew my situation and they’re all just great people! My server Aviana was absolutely amazing. While setting up we can up with a plan for me to sneak her my phone when entering the restaurant so she could record my special moment on video for us since I knew my photographer would only grasp pictures. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. Great people. Great food. Great service. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to dine with class and even someone who is wanting to do something extremely special. Thank you sooooo much for helping me with my proposal. Although everything fell apart with the weather it turned out perfect thanks to the staff at Gaslight. The is no word to explain how amazing their service is.
I absolutely love the Gaslight Grill. They always deliver above and beyond. Went there Saturday night and took a friend of mine from out of town, he ordered the Rib Eye and I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and very good. You have to go to the Gaslight Grill you will not be disappointed.
My wife and I usually spend New Years Eve elsewhere but decided to make a change this year. Absolutely incredible evening and this restaurant pulled out all the stops; we were seated promptly, tables were decorated, service was remarkable and the food was outstanding. We look forward to visiting more often
Some if the worst food I have EVER had. The calamari was sub par and yet it was the best part of the meal. The oysters Hawkafeller wasnt even edible - pretty sure the oysters were rotten (husband has been sick most of the day. I am glad I refused to eat them after the first bite). We will never go back.
We had a most excellent filet mignon - it practically melted in our mouths. It was served with potatoes that were perfectly crisped on the outside, but still mealy and soft on the inside and some grilled asparagus that was also excellent. Great meal - great service!
The customer service was great, food was hot, fresh & good!! I really enjoyed this restaurant, a place I will return to!!!
Quiet on a late Tuesday evening and I am a solo diner. Still treated well and not relegated to the back table. Great wine list. I like the 8 for $28 hook and the wines in the deal are good quality. Steak was tasty with a reduction demi-glaze. The garlic mash was subtle with skins and chunks. Presentation was excellent and Whitney was delightful. A lovely spot for date night. 40s big band music in the background.
Gaslight was a treat! Our service was excellent, our food was phenomenal (great lamb chops), and they even offered a free dessert for it being our anniversary. To top it off, the live jazz band added a great touch to our night. If we end up back in KC, we would love to go back!
Best night ever. Thank you so much. You made our anniversary celebration dinner experience just great!!
Great service Damion was outstanding. The crab cakes were aeeeeeeehah. Le Se La Bon Ton Roule!
Their brunch is widely varied with excellent food. Omelet and waffles made to order. Great value. We went on Fathers Day and they were fully prepared for the crowd.
Delicious. Very good service. Enjoyable jazz music. First visit to Gaslight for our Anniversary and we were happy with our choice. Nice size portions. Leftovers were deficits too! I had blue cheese rib eye. Yum. Wife had shrimp and filet. Nice!!
Anything you try here is the best. Ive been here at least six times and never been disappointed. All food is prepared by chefs. You can compare this food with any restaurant in overland park or leawood. Dollar for dollar you will not be disappointed.
Had a wonderful brunch. Service was impressive. Food was remarkable. I think we found our date night/special occasion destination. A little pricey but worth every penny.
Great service, long HH. Whats not to like?
Excellent atmosphere for fine dining. Really enjoyed sharing the chateaubriand for two with my brother steak was excellent.
Stuffy, so-so, scripted service. The salad lettuce was wilted, the steak was overcooked. The sides were salted blandness. The coffee was good.
The food! The SERVICE! The fabulous company! Thank you, Ideal Producers Group!
Service was very good, ambiance was very nice, food was good,,not great. Food being good but, not great, was very over priced.
My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary. The staff was so accommodating and friendly, the jazz was perfect, and the food was delicious! My husband got the rack of lamb and I got the stuffed salmon, we finished dinner with tiramisu. I had a cocktail as well, which was very tasty. I’d recommend anyone go here, special occasion or not.
When we get a night out and want excellent food and service, this is where we go! Never disappointed!
Excellent dinner but a little pricey. A great place for a special occasion.
Our go to restaurant. We go a couple of times a month. Good food and good service. Masha cares about our enjoyment!
Great place, super great server and we loved the Strawberriea and the Rose! Thank you!
My husband and I had dinner there during restaurant week. We had never been before and thought this was a good way to try out their menu. We arrived early and went to the bar for their happy hour. The prices were good and their drinks were well made! We checked in for our dinner reservation and they sat us in the back room where they had live music.I do want to mention that our server was on top of her game. She was excellent! She deserves 5 stars and the food gets 3 stars. I ordered the crab lump soup and it was very good. I ordered the petit filet mignon for my entree, it was cooked correctly but there was no flavor to it and my mashed potatos were a little bit cold. My husband ordered the ribs and he said they were very good. I had 3 options for dessert and our server said they were known for their tiramisu so I ordered it. I was so disappointed in the lack of flavor and that it was partially frozen. Im not sure I will be returning to this restaurant any time soon.
Simply a wonderful Thanksgiving experience for our family. There was an abundant selection of food and the service was incredible.
I took my mom here on mothers day and had a great time! There were great options and the staff were both nice and very accommodating. Would definitely come back!
It’s overpriced for what it is. The food is very good and the service impeccable. I would go here again but I prefer the Bonefish Grill next door for fish.
My husband took me to the Gaslight Grill Sept 1st, to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Evidently I have the same birthday as their belated owner (Aug 31st). I had been there a few years ago at a pharmacist’s dinner hosted by one of our drug companies. I had no idea how top notch the restaurant was! The food was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. When I suggested it to my husband he was intrigued by the live music. (We are jazz lovers). It was such a nice experience! Romantic and fun. We can’t wait to come back again.
Went there for a private event with a customer... omg. Amazing. Had the Oscar Filet. Next time I’m in KC I’m going back!
Was there for a Holiday party today and cant say enough about how wonderful everything was from the room decorations to the service to the amazing food. Truly magnificent!
Had a great time with Joyces (now my) long time friends and new additions to the family.
Had reservations for 8 people. We showed up early and they were ready for us. Eric was assigned to our party. He was on top of our needs. Koodos to this gentleman he kept our glasses filled and very knowledgeable about the menu items. One of the steaks was not cooked as ordered he took it back and the manager delivered it back with an apology. We sat back in the jazz area and the music was not overbearing. We could have a conversation without shouting. I would highly recommend this place for a excellent steak and a good time.
Great service! Live music was spectacular! Delicious food! Very classy decor!
Had someone else do the prep, cooking and clean up this year and what a great choice. This place was amazing. All the food was fantastically delicious! The service was spot on and the atmosphere was seasonally perfect. This may be my new thanksgiving tradition.
Went to happy hour - slow service, food just ok.
Good food and reasonable service
This place is the Bees Knees. All of their menu selections are awesome. With the ambience of a Jazz Club and an excellent wait staff this place is truly one of the areas gems of the city. Run dont walk. Even the brunch is amazing
The service was fabulous manager was wonderful the steak was okay Nice atmosphere
Huge restaurant. Somewhat noisy. Bar with jazz was way too loud to have a conversation. They accommodated a table move... wonderful booth and great service. Food...Awesome!! Large wine list AND affordable short list that too is very good.
Amazing service and the food we did receive was well prepared. We ordered two filets AND shrimp but never received our shrimp. Never were offered anything else and charged for the full price of the meal.
Awesome bar staff and a delightful atmosphere. Weve eaten here several times and the food is good, but I think the bar oohs what keeps us coming back. Jake and Christian always make us feel welcome.
Fantastic service! We were treated extra special when we told them it was our anniversary. The server took great care of us, took pictures and had several insightful menu recommendations. The food was amazing- my husband had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly. The mixed berry sorbet is definitely a must have for dessert! We will be coming back.
First time for 4 of us and we all absolutely loved it. Princeton was our waiter and he was phenomenal as were our food and drinks. Highly recommend, we will visit again! Steaks, Scallops, crab appetizers and dessert were all prepared to our liking and presentation was spot on.
Great food, great service, and great prices.
Food was phenomenal!! Live music was amazing and made my evening even more... friendly staff, very romantic.
The food was delicious. Our waiter Mario was fun and knowledgeable. We had a great time.
The food was Amazing, the jazz music in the back room was Great, the server needs more training on how to properly speak to people and not come off so rude. Only reason why it got 4 stars and not 5...the staff
