I went here for the first time recently to see the play man of la Mancha, the theater itself was really neat to see. Definitely kept up very well, seats were comfortable, adequate stage lighting, and a very old time charming feel. Definitely would love to see more plays here.

Im off for an evening of theater at the fortress on the east Bank of the Oseego River. The fortress protects the mouth of the river, so the fort is almost as high as Mac Islands fortress.I wrote the following as a guy named Uber Josh drove me to the play house. I am sitting on the steps to the play house, alas, because I left the cell phone that works out in remote Scriba in the Kia Soul driven by Uber Josh. I called him on the phone that works in Oswego. He is making his way full speed towards me, but I will miss the curtain.I can marvel at the high walls of the fortress built by the hands of men who left too few stories. I can see the sun going down on the waters of Lake Ontario, the way it has descended for a million years. I think about the craziness of attacking such walls with a mere blunderbluss in my hand. But then I realize many fortresses on the Great Lakes didnt fall with the last man standing, as the Alamo fell. Fort Mackinac surrendered without a single shot. I make a note to look up the history of Fort Ontario.Josh arrived and pulled up long enough to pass my cell out the window and wish me a good night a second time. Sitting outside the house, I have been of service to the play house. Three times three patrons have asked me, Which door do I use. Inadvertently, I have become an usher at Oswego Players. My manners have taken me farther in life than my brains. I cannot tonight storm the fortress, but the players will willingly let me breach the auditorium between numbers.I was gratified to see a table of water, fun sized chocolates and cans of soda awaiting me.Snacks! Im saved.I cannot abide a play house who doesnt provided for the refreshment of their patrons.Step right up sonny, the chocolates are straight from the freezer! The talent unmistakable, her voice carried the words throughout the lobby, a quip with perfect comedic timing. Are you an actor?, as if I had to ask.Im not an actor. Im a director! In fact, the woman selling candy and pop to raise cash to rent a stage had brought the show to tonights perfection. The company worked so hard to build a house. I saw posters on bulletin boards all over town. On every street corner at poster stood on thin wires. The company has brought shows to Oswego since 1938. The house looked small, but respectable. Looking like a fortress itself, the Oswego Speedway nearby on a higher hill has packed far more people into its seats. The sun has reached the water line. Time has arrived to find my seat.
