Lots of memories and fun times here! Bucket list item of flying in and camping under a wing for sure! Air venture is always awesome but hot be prepared. Museum is amazing have gone many times and see something I missed the time before every visit. Their memberships are great and help you see museums on other trips as well, highly recommend-pays for itself.
Always such a wonderful putting with the family! Really cool exhibits and when its open the kidventure are is really cool (for kids and the young at heart). We come here multiple times a year and always come for Airventure.
Museum was fantastic... We will go back another time to see whats in the detached hangars. You get to be up close to these incredible machines...... A couple of stainless steel beauties. Seeing a few actual war planes and the fire-power they had... leaves you with your own moment of silence.. Replica of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima gives an idea of what we humans have done to each other. Everyone should have a chance to walk thru this history of aviation - which also includes a replica of the Wright Brothers plane.
An exceptional museum was very well put together displays. A lot of great information it was fun to read. Spent about 3 hours here.
While we spent the day at Airventure we were granted access to the EAA museum and walked through the main hall. Packed full of different aircraft and memorabilia from well known to rare flight machines this museum was worth the walkthrough. I’d imagine being able to spend a couple hours here on a rainy/snowy day learning more about how the history of flight progressed but it was nice to see what it had to offer with the time we had.
Love air shows! The only thing I wish this air show had was a schedule of what was flying during their limited daily actual Air Show. The schedule booklet only says 2:30 - 6 p.m. Air Show. I wish it had a breakdown of what all was flying. While I love all planes, the military planes are my favorite. But, overall, this is one event anyone who is even slightly airplane crazy should not miss if at all possible!
Great little aircraft museum, for both military and civilian aircraft history.
Took my grandkids here and my grandson loves airplanes he liked it
Planes are really cool but the interactive displays were kind of lame or not working. They definitely need updating. But if you like planes, youll love what there is to see and learn.
Great place. Super friendly staff. Hope to visit again
It only recently reopened after COVID. It was very empty of people, but full of interesting planes! I had realized that the E in EAA meant experimental, but I didnt expect to see the proportion of small unique expermimental planes in display. Most aviation museums have bigger military plane exhibitions, and this has some, but not as many as expected. The overall layout is awkward, probably because it consisted of a series of poorly anticipated expansions, but the layout of the displays inside is well done and informative. Enjoyed my visit.
This place was everything I remember and more! I hadnt been to the Aviation Museum since scouting about 13 years ago. I loved the nose art exhibit. Thanks Otto for mentioning that to us upon entering! I brought my wife for her first visit this last weekend after we participated in the Terrain Race on the grounds. I felt like a kid again. Im inspired to get back into aviation and engineering! So much great history here and Id like to be a part of it.
I loved this place so much. I would come back again in a heart beat. They have a little something for all ages. Good mix of older planes and self made planes as well. They even have options for an additional 75 to go up in a plane with one of the experienced pilots here.
This place is amazing. If you have a small interest in airplanes this is like a huge candy store.
A great Aviation Museum to check out. This museum is a very interesting place to visit and see the history of aviation. I visited the museum when I went to the EAA Airshow. The ticket for the airshow included free entry to the museum. There is a lot to see. The birth of the airplane, to military planes, and civilian aircraft as well. You can also walk the airport grounds outside. Warbirds Alley is where the historical Fighter planes are located. I highly recommend checking this place out. Just a heads up if you go during the Airshow Week it will be a bit crowded.
Awesome museum. Will be back for the 2021 event
Great collection of planes. Many exhibits with plenty of information. I could spend hours here!
Amazing museum. The volunteer staff love working there. I heard so many fascinating stories. The museum is much bigger than I remember. The kids play area is absolutely amazing. It is difficult to pick a favorite. I think the air glider might be my sons favorite.
So much family fun! A whole area dedicated for kid fun with a sky glider and hot air balloon simulator. Very hands on learning!
This museum is extremely enthusing and entertaining even if you aren’t really into aviation! It covers over so much history of the airplane and all the uses it was used for years ago, all the way up till recent! If you are interested in getting into the aviation world, this is a great pace to gather historical information!! Definitely recommend this place!
Staff is friendly and alot of interesting information.
Cool place for aircraft lovers. Loved it! Plenty of collection of miniature, small and big aircrafts. Especially children will love the museum to have real fun!!
For one week out of the Year Whitman field is transformed into an aviation Marvel. Some of the oldest and most rare airplanes to the modern-day Fighters are constantly flying over your head. Its called EAA Airventure, or most commonly called Oshkosh.
It was a very cool experience seeing models of the first plan to modern planes 100% recommend tour of the place
I hadnt been to the museum since I was a child. Its so much better than I was expecting. Its truely a wonderful experience. My wife and I went with our 11 month old and had a blast! After looking through the place we decided to get a refund and buy the year membership for the family. Also, if you havent been to the grounds adjacent to and behind the museum, you definitely should. Its beautiful back there.
One of my favorite museums.Ive been there several times, but always end up wanting to go there again.
So many different kinds of airplanes from the past and now. Theres a really cool simulator to try. History from the Apollo missions. A new virtual machine to inspire kids and adults in aviation. A true wealth of aviation information. You can experience 1st hand in a helicopter and fly a remote control. Purchase EAA merchandise and listen to past accomplishments.
This place is amazing! The staff were so helpful! This was a great learning experience.
One of a kind experience! A must see for all ages. You will learn and be inspired! Be ready to be blown away.
Love being able to go and see the cool aircraft!
The museum has hands on displays along with an assortment of do it yourself homebuilt aircraft. I also enjoyed the limited collection of military aircraft. They also had a wide range of WWII nose art preserved and on display.
Chock full of aviation history. Huge and awesome!
Really neat history here. Thanks
Visited Oshkosh WI EAA museum, moved by WWII exhibits, saw unique traveling original WWII bomber & fighter nose art exhibit, art was on original aircraft sheet metal, stunning, world class museum. Found plenty of parking for our truck camper. We stumbled upon a wedding in progress at the museum. Looked like a great venue to have a wedding. Windy outside blew their fabric runner, started to sprinkle. Hope their special day went well. I was very moved by the exhibit dedicated to Operation Overlord, the D Day Invasion. Saw well-preserved German and Japanese weapons and uniforms.
This is one of our favorite museums. The childrens portion is small, but informative. If you love history, art, aviation or just like a quiet place to reflect, the EAA Aviation Museum would be a perfect visit for you. Make sure to see the WWII nose art, appreciate it as a product of the era.
Always a good stop, especially if you love aviation. Lots of interesting things to see
Awesome place! I suggest it to anybody. Priced Right and a great way to spend the afternoon. Also if you should have tens right now. They do have an exhibition on bomber art from World War II. Very interesting as these are the original art taken from the plains themself.
Awesome little museum! Loved the history and the friendly staff!
Fantastic collection of experimental aircraft and compliment to my Airventure experience.
Definitely worth the trip. If you wanna rediscover your childlike love for planes and flying, this is the place. Big beautiful building with an amazingly clean interior. Incredible up close interaction with experimental planes and replicas of famous aircraft. Flight simulators and tons of interactive games and kid stuff. Was honestly surprised at how entertained I was going through this spottless building.
Simply awesome! Very educational.
Amazing variety of exhibits just packed full of information. You could easily spend 6 hours here if youre hungry for info, or breeze through it in 2 or less.
Epic. There should be a state law that everyone coming to Green Bay has to stop at this museum
The Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) is a wonderful organization! It is clear that everything done, whether by employees or volunteers, is a labor of love. Even during Airventure week, the grounds are spotless. The mutual respect is obvious. The museum exhibits of countless donated one of a kind aircraft are amazing. There is such a rich history of aviation by DIYers that is shown in the museum. This continues with the support of EAA.
Great museum, lots to see. We went in the off season so there was no crowds. Great place to spend a day learning about some cool history.
Great time and the kid adventure was a blast even for the parents.
Airventure is always a great experience with plenty to do and see. It keeps getting better as time goes on! Well worth the money. Its been years since I visited the museum, but it is top notch as well!
I cant say enough good things about this museum, its filled with historical artifacts, historical knowledge.. from WWII to spaceships.. absolutely amazing. Area for kids too!
We had a blast at the eaa airshow. Roamed thru the museum also and had alot of information. Our relative also had some items on display there so we got to find that. Alot of different items to look at and loved they had a area for the kids to play in. I would recommend checking it out for young and old.
A true gem of a place. If youre an aviation enthusiast in the least, this is a must-see. Not much in terms of more modern military displays, but the WWII sections are top-notch for aircraft and history buffs alike. With Oshkosh being the center of the home-built experimental aircraft universe, this museum doesnt disappoint.
Fantastic. Impressive collection of airplanes, artifacts, and other educational material (videos, diagrams, games). Attached are some whimsically illustrated, fighter pilot training posters on display.
We loved this place! They have so much to see, and a great interactive area for kids. The staff and volunteers are super polite and they really know a lot about the displays and aviation and were able to answer all our questions. Cant wait to go back!
It was a great aviation museum the only thing was the kids section was closed due to COVID.
This is probably one of the very best locations to spend precious quality time with family and friends. Lots to learn in a very fun way, that is attractive and encouraging for every family member...! We as a working class family highly recommend anyone to attend, specially the Young Eagles Flights!!
I have gone to many military museums in the last few years and I have found that the Oshkosh air museum was very great The exhibits they have learning about aviation from the start to the present day aviation’s was fantastic. The air show was excellent and I had the opportunity to fly in a vintage World War II B-17 flying Fortress name aluminum lady . An excellent museum to Chuar and stay for the air show you’ll be totally impressed
Great place to take the family and enjoy a little history. Good little gift shop. And a really cool place to have an event like corp outing or birthday party. Very nice people too
It is a great place to learn about the history of aviation. There are a lot of cool planes new and old. Fun interactive exhibits for kids as well.
Tour guy was very informative .
This is the only Experimental Aircraft Museum in the world. Therefore it has aircraft in there that may have never been seen by the visitors. I highly recommend visiting this Museum.
Amazing museum in Oshkosh Wisconsin absolutely visited, all perfect and clean, very friendly l staff .
Awesome! Kids will love it.. free flights for 13 and under..a must see if in the area.
Great place for childrens to know the history of aviation industry including a free young eagle ride.
Hidden jewel in rural Wisconsin. Home of the EAA it is heart of general aviation. Was there for the annual airshow that shouldnt be missed.
A good amount of airplanes and facts with a decently large childrens area that contained games and structures for them to learn and play on. Plus, also has the Millenium Falcon!
Informative and good displays. Also has good things for future pilots. Make sure you enjoy the motion simulator.
Very well done, excellent exhibits
First time there very cool!!
There are planes in here that look like they shouldnt fly, but did. So much history, not just aviation.Make sure you have plenty of time .4 and a half hours, not enough.
Great time with the family! Ive always driven by but this time we decided to stop. Liked it so much, we are now members!
If you love aviation like l do you have to visit the EAA museum
Interesting displays. A wide variety of era of aviation. Hands on learning exhibits. Fun for all ages.
A great trip through aviation history
Oshkosh the best place to see some airplanes
Maybe I was misinformed but I was expecting more from this museum. Expect a few great planes the rest were pretty much the same ones over and over again!.
A great experience. Good learning opportunities for young people as well. History of aviation from the beginning to the space shuttle. Would have liked to spend even more time.
Aviation memorabilia, historic airplanes and engaging aviation related exhibits indoors and outdoors with an active airfield. Visiting exhibits related to air and space travel. Many kid friendly and hands on displays. Many historic and experimental aircrafts on display make it one of the most extensive collection. Many special events attract people from all over the world.
We could have spent all day here. There were great hands on activities and so many airplanes to check out.
Great places to see
I love to look at the wide variety of airplanes they have here. And the gift shop is great for all souvenirs airplane related
It was my familys first time there!! It was a wonderful experience!! Will definitely go again with our kids.
Its a well-done museum, a few displays are a bit out of date, and airplanes arent my biggest area of interest, but I think it was worth the trip. The nose art display is here only until the end of the year and they were pretty impressive.
Beutifull, specially the biplane ride, a place to visit!
This is my favorite museum of all time. Ive been here twice now and I always leave so happy and inspired. I love WW2 aviation and the eagle hanger is definitely my favorite part. However, every part of the museum is fascinating and extraordinary, you can learn so much. I hope to go the the air show next year, but for now I have just been following the livestreams and keeping up with their social media. This a place you must go!
Wonderful experience. From the sweet info lady to the gift shop cashier, everyone was so friendly and kind. We had a great time and would recommend this museum.
Very interesting to vist if you have any interest in aviation history. The museum has some very interesting exhibits that you mightvsee anywhere else.
This should be on every aviation enthusiasts list of places to visit! Though there are plenty of areas that are dated and in disrepair, the only way these can improve is from visitors and donations. So, overlook those parts, as it is still a wonderful museum worth supporting!
A beautiful museum with plenty of aircraft and exhibits to see. From the Wright Brothers to Voyager, and many more recent planes. I also really enjoyed the WWII nose art on display. The staff there was enthusiastic and helpful too.
Love this place. Amazing airplanes. Shows what mankind can do when they set their mind to it.
Wonderful collection. Hope to have more time to browse in the future. I only had 90 minutes this time.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the history of Aviation
Really cool to see literal pieces of history. The cool bits of plane only tell half of the story, but its a great way to grab your attention. Theres so much to see and read, very interesting place to spend the day.
Great place to stop and tour. Amazing collection of planes on display. And the staff are really friendly. Stopped in after the 2019 EAA AirFest which is also a great Show to attend! Definitely a must stop location!
Very interesting display. The ww2 area was very educational and we found it enjoyable.
Great visit. Wish all the displays were working. Loved the Founders Library!
Beth, their head of security, was so cruel and criminalizing to the kids, she made my son cry twice before we finally gave up and left. It was a really disappointing experience and as much as I love the museum, we won’t be returning with our kids. I’m not going to pay for someone to treat them like they shouldn’t be there.I have never been treated so poorly as we were today, and once I saw tears from my son for the second time I was fuming. I understand it’s their job to protect the museum, but she was on a serious power trip and anyone who knows Jesse knows he is always well behaved, he did not deserve her attitude.Just an FYI to anyone looking to take their family there, if Dawn in security is working, your children won’t feel welcome.Things we did wrong included:SkippingSitting on a lounge chairlooking like we were chewingAnd WALKING TOO SLOWLY in a dead museum with maximum 12 people in it. She just followed us around and found reasons to scold us the whole time.
My boys were not interested in going to the EAA museum. They said the outside looks boring. Boy, they were so wrong. We entered the museum, paid a very reasonable family fee, and then were promptly greeted by a very friendly and enthusiastic volunteer who said the boys could fly an airplane if they wanted. We were taken to Pioneer Airport and both boys were allowed to ride in a plane! What a great experience! They were on cloud nine for the rest of the day. Wonderful exhibits, friendly staff, immaculately clean. This place is amazing.
