Awesome fishing adventure! Matt knows the lake better than anyone. He knew what was working from where to fish, what bait to use and methods and techniques that worked. He made the experience very comfortable and enjoyable. Whether youre a novice or very experienced at fishing he is an excellent host! His boat and equipment are top notch as well. He doesnt mind being out fished either! Great experience!

I had been tying fishing flies as a hobby for years and they have caught bluegills, trout, crappies, and whitebass; but the last three years walleyes have been the primary species caught with the flies I tied and I’m proud that a local fishing guide “Captain Matt Merten” has used them to help his clients catch walleyes on the Lake Winnebago System too. Towards the end of the walleye run Matt had an opening on the calendar and invited me to fish with him on Lake Winnebago and the Fox River. We tried many different things, but the walleye flies produced the best results. Boat control was stellar by Matt and this gave me the chance to just sit back, relax, and fish. All I had to do was keep catching. Very rarely I get the luxury of fishing in somebody else’s tiller handle boat, but the Skeeter boat powered by a 150 horsepower Mercury four stroke, with a Minn Kota I-Pilot on the bow was the ticket. The fishing rig is comfortable, spacious, and it could easily accommodate 2 other anglers with all their gear. In my opinion, if you’re looking for an experienced fishing guide, Matt offers excellent service matched with quality time on the water.
