Absolutely scary. The yeti animation and broken track sets the tone too. This just shows how well Disney creates their rides. There are A BUNCH of bracelets on top of the mountain.
Truthfully, the biggest negative about this ride is simply the fact that it is nerve jarring for those with sensitivity to jerky rapid motions and to those that are concerned about flying quickly downhill in an open car. Oh, yeah, and the fact that you are being threatened by a mythical Yeti.Beyond that, this is a great ride. The line spends a lot of time immersing you into a Nepalese environment and building the tension related to the existence of the Abominal Snowman (by other words of course). This includes the presentation of proofs of their existence and helps you to believe that you are entering an area known for their presence. As with everything Disney related, the ride begins from the moment you enter the line and ends with you flying through the mountainous Everest area, either screaming your head off or at least listening to others doing so. Fortunately, in good times, Disney also captures that sheer fright on camera for you to purchase and laugh over years later. My own daughter rode this with me years ago and later told me, I cried. I was of the opinion that she was just cheerfully tearing up. Nope. Full on panic attack. She cried. Be prepared. Its pretty eventful.
This is a pretty decent coaster due to being mostly in the dark for the exciting sections and if course going backwards. Kind of space limited to be really good with giant drops or high speeds. When I was there the line was almost non-existent so I was able to walk off and back on several times in 20 minutes.
Was fun, someone lost their phone, another lost their magic band, eight people lost their masks. It was hilarious
This is probably one of the best rides in Animal Kingdom! I recommend getting there early, to be able to ride this attraction. There is a backwards part that may be a little intense, but nonetheless, this ride is no intense than Splash Mountain.
One of my favorite rides of all time. Disney always does an awesome jobs of making you feel that you are actually there with all of the props and layout. Very fun ride. Dark tunnels and going backwards might be too much for smaller children but might be great if they are little thrill seekers.
The best ride in all of AK, Everest is a smooth, surprising coaster. What starts as a slow trek up the mountain backs into a meeting with a mythical beast before plummeting off the side of the mountain. The track is smooth, the drops arent too much for most, but enough for the rest, and the theme is creative and solid throughout.Even in the queue, Everest planning and Yeti mystery are built. As you board, the story goes from climbing, past the cultures of those already nearby, up to a dangerous issue. Eventually a run-in with the Yeti leads to a trip back down, but he gets one last swipe before you leave...
This is an awesome roller coaster with great twists and turns! You will love every minute of it, especially if you are a thrill seeker! The fast pass line might seem a little long, but it goes really quickly. This is a great ride and you will love the scenery along the way. You also learn a lot while waiting in line and reading about the Sherpa and the various adventures taken on Mount Everest. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!
In my opinion this is easily one of the Top 5 most thrilling rides in all of Disney World, for me, its my absolute favorite. Not only is it one of the faster, higher, and more thrilling rides in all of the parks but unlike its counterparts that could challenge it, its in broad daylight, and incredibly visually stunning. The line que twist you through what makes you feel as if you are truly preparing for an expedition to Everest, the ride itself is insanely appealing looking like the mountain itself, and while on the ride an encounter with the infamous Yeti and backwards venture!Truly a breathtaking ride.
We love this ride!!! Got to the park extra early and went there and was able to ride it three times in a row before then lines got long and before I almost got sick. This is a super cool ride and so much fun.
Of thought of as the Matterhorn of Disney World, this ride is so much more - it might be my favourite Disney Mountain ride to date! Excellent, excellent, excellent. But seriously what is that Yetis problem? Thanks for the thrills, big guy!
When I was a little kid I went here, with my family and my cousins, I was so scared and I was forced on to it. But I don’t regret it! It was amazing me and my cousin even made a song about it! Don’t let the yeti eat your “speggeti”! It was so cute when we were singing! Over all it was a great ride, I think i screamed but I was a kid! So of course I did but I loved it and don’t worry parents it’s safe, just beware to be squeezed to death by your kids! But tower of terror that’s a whole other story, like rock n rollercoaster!
Probably one of the best coasters in Disneyworld next to Rockin Roller Coaster. We usually ride it atleast twice.
I really enjoy this ride every time I come. It seems more intense then I expect every time.
Last time I was afraid of riding this. I was wrong. Its amazing!!! Sure, it goes fast but its super fun.
Such a fun rollercoaster... just from the start when you enter the queue, you know your in for something great... the roller coaster has so many awesome moments and keeps you thrilled the entire time... The best part is when you get to the top, you go backwards for a while in the dark... Such a great thrill and keeps you guessing the whole time... use a fast pass... go on as many times as you can. The picture spot is on the bottom of the last drop...
This is a unique and enjoyable experience filled with thrills! Its a must do attraction at Animal Kingdom.
Amazing cultural experience. Love the rides. Cant wait to see it at night again. Hopefully soon.
BEST RIDE EVER!!! I do not recommend for small kids, at all. One of the more intense rides at Disney World. Nearly as scary as Rockin Roller Coaster / Tower of Terror. Love it.If you are easily nauseated DONT DO IT. If you still want to go, regardless of nausea, try to sit in the middle. THE LAST FEW ROWS AND THE FIRST ROW IS HORRIFYING AND EXTREMELY INTENSE.
A fun Rollercoaster that goes forward and backward in the ssme ride. Not a family coaster but fun for the more adventurous kids and adults. Do you spot the yeti???
Great coaster, definitely worth a ride. If you arent a big fan of going backwards (shout out to my fellow motion sickness sufferers), be prepared this goes backwards for a smidge.Although, due to social distancing procedures no one is in front or behind you so its easy to twist your torso around a little so now you are moving sideways instead of totally backwards.
Pretty cool coaster. If you like going backwards and dark rides, its worth the ride.
Super, fun rollercoaster! Waiting in line gives guests the chance to look at all of the mountain climbing gear and tools on display, as well as, artifacts regarding the abominable snow monster known as the Yeti. The ride itself is currently arguably the best coaster in Disney World. Youll speed through the Himalayas backwards and forwards and hit maybe 3 Gs at a couple of points. The climb to the peak offers a great view of the park and I strongly recommend riding this coaster in the day AND at night for a distinctly different experience.
Line moved fast. A really nice ride
Really good roller coaster. Be ready to be flung around
Great ride every time we have been at WDW. Wish they could fix the Yeti
Pretty good ride - going backwards is great. 5.5 out of 10 for scare/adrenaline factor.
One of my favorite rides! One of the scariest roller-coasters and coming face to face with the Yeti and going backwards is actually a great touch. Be sure to be ready to listen to some screaming.
Probably my favorite coaster at Animal Kingdom. If you are at the park, make time for this ride.
One of the best coasters at Disney. It is great.
Such a great little roller coaster. The backward part freaked me out.
SO WORTH IT. I don’t know how we even got a fast pass for this ride on a 10/10 busy day at Animal Kingdom, but we did. The ride was super fun, a little scary at times for the kids, but we all were thrilled out of our gourds and loved all the twists and turns and the massive G’s that this ride pulls as you whip down through twists and turns. It does NOT go upside down or do any corkscrewing, but it does go backwards for about a third of the ride. But absolutely worth it.For me, a wait time of 60 minutes or less is totally worth it. The breaking point is about 90 minutes. If the wait time exceeds that, I’d wait until the dinner hour or towards the close of the park.
Fun ride, you get your moneys worth on it!
One of the best roller coasters at Disney. Always a thrill. Give yourself at least 30 minutes after eating.
Great roller coaster! Its so original & inventive, I ride it at least twice per visit. Too scary for younger kids, I would suggest at least age 12 before initiation. Fear the Yeti.
One of Disneys best rides. The theming is one of my favorites so I may be a little partial. The coaster its self is a good ride, you go backwards and through the mountain which is fun. It is accommodating to most body types. Not too scary for younger riders.
Short ride but changes style every 10 sec or so. Kids would be scared but it is the only adult ride in animal kingdom
Good roller coaster for everyone. Well done theme. Been on this ride several years ago and it is as good as I remembered. Really fun ride. Try to ride when the standby wait time is 30 minutes or less.
Pretty visual que line and well planned. Can be very hot in the summer. The ride itself is very smooth for the most part. Does go backwards and up in the dark.
It is a very fun ride for most ages.
My favorite ride of the day good thrill ride!
Nice themed ride but the coaster itself is not as thrilling as others but most thrilling in this park
Great ride but not for young kids
The theming in the queue is phenomenal. It transported you to the Himalayas and really makes you feel like you are a part of the story. Before I rode Everest I had read that it was less thrilling than the Tower of Terror I went on TOT the day before and had no problem with the drops. I am by no means a roller coaster person so I figured I would ride it. The drops were not bad but for me when the ride goes sideways after it goes backwards and after the big drop the GeForces were too much for me to enjoy. But that is just me personally and it probably is different for most other people.
This is a great roller coaster.
One of the best rides at Disney.
Expedition Everest is a thrilling must-do experience if you’re in Animal Kingdom. The very back is the best place to sit if you want the wildest ride. The single-rider line is almost always significantly shorter than stand-by. Riding it at night adds to the experience, so it’s a great way to close out your visit.
One of the best rides in animal kingdom. Not only is the roller coaster fun, but the whole ride is a show. Even the que has a lot to see and read to keep busy. Wait times arent too bad but you can always use a fast pass if you want!
Super awesome ride! The atmosphere leading to the ride is amazing and the ride itself is very fun. We really enjoyed it. I recommend booking it with a FastPass to avoid the long wait.
Best ride at WDW
Fun for the whole family. Reminds me of old roller coasters I used to ride when I was young but with a twist!
Being Nepalese, it hurts when you see indian (hindi) fonts.
Just exceptional. Too bad it gets overshadowed by Pandora, or else it would be the most popular attraction in Animal Kingdom. The ride kicks off amazing and ends with a bang. You go up the mountain, and then it just gets better from there. You hit a point where the track has been broken, and then the ride sends you flying backwards! The length is great, and the wait is usually around 50-100 minutes, which is an absolute steal. This attraction is brutally underrated, as you’re getting an amazing ride for such a small wait time. I could type on and on about how great this ride is! My favourite roller coaster by FAR, that I’ve ever been on. If you don’t have a FastPass, there’s cool “exhibits” to look at while in line. I love this ride so much!
Excellent theming. Friendly staff as always. Ride was smooth- I will advise you to brace yourself for the brakes, there are three at most, at the end of the ride. Once to slow down, and once to get into the station. If you have little ones who are tall enough, be aware the yeti moves, has red eyes and may be a little frightening as he reaches down to try and stop your expedition train. Smooth ride always in good condition.*its Florida so it rains daily pretty much. If there’s no lightning in the area they won’t close the ride, but I can tell you it’s not worth it, wait for the rain to clear. The raindrop knife wall you have to travel through doesn’t add anything to the ride*
This ride is absolutely amazing, when I was here the line was extremely short because if the newer Pandora area. Me and my friends ended up going on this ride 3+ times. We sat in the front the back and in between. This ride is worth a wait if there is one. Favorite ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Very disappointingToo many OUT OF STOCKS
Incredible the amount of detail, authenticity, and sheer size they put into this ride and attraction as a whole. They built a base camp setting for the line, and then a miniature Mt. Everest for the roller coaster itself. When you are on the ride, there are a few times you forget youre still in the park, and actually feel the silence of being on a high altitude mountain (speaking from experience). Ride isnt crazy intense, has some good speed, does go backwards for some portion. Really cool experience though, has a few surprises up its sleeve as well!
One of my favorites.
Very fun ride if you have the time. High warning: do not eat a big meal before riding! Small children may be scared by this, but this ride is amazing for any thrill seekers.
Great ride. Worth the line
I consider this one as the best ride of the park coz it has a shorter line than Avatar and its still very cool. Try the single rider as well, I went in this one 3 times.
This is my third favorite ride at Disney world. If you look at it on this app the base of the mountain is Mickeys head and the track forms the ears. The ride goes backwards. It is the best ride at Animal kingdom.
Best ride in Animal Kingdom, even better at night ( with less than 5 minutes wait ) !
The Expedition Everest roller coaster is a blast. So much fun. The ride as well as the line queue has incredible theming and makes you feel as though youre really in a forbidden mountain.
(Caps warning)BEST RIDE EVER!If I could give this six stars, I would. Honestly, this ride was very therapeutic for me. The feeling of falling 80ft down a mountain and the loud screams of Woo-hoo! I do eases my mind right after, and makes me forget about almost everything. As someone that lives in fear, I felt like I was finally free thanks to this ride. Now Ill try even bigger thrill rides in my future!Edit: Oh, forgot to mention one thing. Come here in the fall, the wait times are from 20 minutes to under 2 minutes!
Fun. Love the intensity!
Really good ride, you should ride it in the day as well as night as its a totally different experience
Awesome ride. I really enjoyed the set design and the items they have in display while waiting in line. A lot of effort and detail was put into it.
This is a fantastic roller coaster. All the elements tie in to give it a unique experience all its own. The way it seems like you are in an actual Journey while you were riding the rollercoaster is very awesome. The only thing is it may be intense for some children. My nine-year-old was okay but my six-year-old not so much. I love it
This is a good roller coaster at Animal Kingdom. It is nicely themed to be a Himalayan experience. This ride is intense by Disney standards. Try securing a fast pass as the line can be long. If you dont have one, try the single rider option.
Its a very unique ride, with a great single-rider line. Its one of my favorites.
Very fast and fun
First time I rode this ride it was pelting it down with rain and it was the most exciting and thrilling ride Id ever been on. I dunno why but the occurrence of rain made a regular rollar coaster into something of legend. Really felt refreshing and exhilarating for a ride. And I hope others are as lucky as I was to get a similar experience. Oh and I loved the merch there at the time.
The ride was fun!
It is the kids favorite. My wife not so much when she realized the coaster at one point goes backwards. As you go through the wait line, keep an eye on all the displays, you may see your own name or picture in there if you pay attention. What a neat touch.
So much fun!
Expedition Everest is a fun Nepal explorer, Mount Everest and Yeti themed roller coaster in animal kingdom. I thought it would be similar to the matterhorn, but its definitely its own type of coasterYou take a couple of small descents and loops until youre eventually heading up the main hill and its pretty steep on the ride versus looking at it from afar. You descend down briefly until you come across a broken track in front of you. This leads to the coaster descending backwards in the to the mountain at full speed in pitch blackness. You pause again to see a video screen of the Yeti tearing up the coaster tracks and heading your way. Of which then youre now dropped going forward to the steepest drop on the ride. You pick up some pretty good speed and theres some fun turns until youre back at the base to disembark. Considering the steepness of the main ascent, I expected more speed but its full descent is divided into two descent sections. (Backward and forward)The decor throughout the queue line and the ride is very detailed and definitely enhances the experience. Its a definite must ride in Animal Kingdom and Ill definitely be back. Enjoy!
Watch out for that broken track!
This is a fabulous ride surrounded by breathtaking sights in this true-to-life Asia experience.
The best of Animal Kingdom, you cant miss this ride.
Amazing ride! One of my favorite rides not only in Disney World, but anywhere!
One of the best rides bar none. Totally awesome. If you can afford to holiday there then do it. You certainly wont be sorry.
I love this ride so much!
Best ride. I went on it atleast 15 - 20 times. Its so well made. It has that little scary part before you go backwards and its very fast. Anyone that likes speed should go here. Around 5pm (or 17:00 depending where you live) is the best time. The line is short >5min.
One of my favorite coasters in any of the parks in Orlando. It can be a little scary for kids, and the yeti at the end broke a few years ago and hasnt been fixed yet, but the ride itself is great and lots of fun.
Great ride!
Loved it! my 4yr old was terrified but doesnt stop talking about it so think he secretly like it!
So much fun
This is our favorite roller coaster in animal kingdom. The first year it was opening we got to ride it in Beta mode where it was open to ride, but only at a few times during the day and with no previous announcment they could close it. We happened to pass by as it was opening and rode it five times, getting off and then right back on as not many others were aware. That was so much fun that we normally reserve a fast pass for this ride. It is thrilling and equal parts in the mountain and outside. A spectacular ride.
Still one of my favorites roller coasters. Not the fastest or wildest, but it does have its own set of tricks. Kinda of a more intense version of Big Thunder Mountain in the Magic Kingdom. If youre careful, there is a good photo opportunity. Definitely should be a part of your visit to Animal Kindgom.
Ask to ride in the back if youre not afraid of heights!
Its a very scary roller coaster definitely not for kids.
How will you like to ride in the highest mountain in Florida? Expedition Mt Everest is your answer at Disney Animal Kingdom
This is NOT for young children. We watched the YouTube walk-through of the ride (looked fine) and it was the first ride we rode when we got there. 6-7 minutes later, half of the family was crying. It takes you to a part of the track that looks broken, then plummets you backward in pitch black. It is a fun ride for those that can stomach it
