I go here for the firing range. Not many people know about it. Easy to schedule. Not crowded. Have about 5 or so lanes. Most pistols and .22 rifles allowed. Simple and bare bones. Nothing fancy. Very inexpensive. Staff on hand is very insightful and fun to talk to. No ammo to purchase - bring your own. You can bring your own paper targets or buy them there.
I can say enough positive about this place. I have been going here regularly since it opened. I have a special needs boy and the staff makes him feel like he is a celebrity. If the general public had any idea how much training their life guards are given they would be impressed. There is something here for everyone! The picture is of my boy the day we didn’t take him swimming.
Even though they say they are open for the lap pool the door is locked, no one answers the doorbell, and no one answers the phone or email. Horrific management.
Undergoing remodel. Good facilities when was open. Hopefully theyll be great when reopened.
Very well kept and spotless bathrooms
Had tons of fun shooting in the range! Sad to hear that the range is going to be taken out in the near future. Please rethink this. If its an issue of people feeling uncomfortable having guns un bags come in the main door maybe you could give it is own entrance. The guy who runs it is great! Keep.him employed.
Love coming here to swim and relax. Great place to work out and just have fun.
Staff is friendly and the floors are clean. Some gym equipment is a bit older but its well maintained. If youre considering a membership, keep in mind the the high school shares the pool, the lockers cost a quarter, and the hot tub is closed for cleaning on Wednesday evenings. I love my membership and the steam room is a huge plus for me. Lane swimming is crowded but the folks swimming are pleasant and great at sharing lanes.
Great rec center! Offer pilates, yoga, crunch, spinning, and ballet classes, among others. Great equipment, indoor pools and pool slides.
My grandchildren love coming here. I didnt bring my swimming suit otherwise would have been in the water with then. Such a cozy, friendly family atmosphere.
Great fun for the kids! I took our three kids to the pool here. They were well entertained by the splash area, lazy river, and water slide. I was alone with three kids, but didnt have any trouble keeping an eye on them. The prices were reasonable, and they offer an annual pass if you want to go frequently.
I went swimming there with my girlfriend the other day. The pool water was very salty... Also the building/equipment is definitely showing its age. Anyways, 3 stars despite that because they have a good variety of facilities and is also very affordable.
An awesome place to the kids!! A large, updated swim area is great for kids and families. They have a big tube slide that is located indoors. This heated pool will take care of your swim cravings even in the dead of winter. They also have raquetball courts that my husband loves and uses a few days a week with his buddies. Lots to do.
The shooting Range is a great place for a quick cheap shooting night!Sad that they are shutting it down because this is a huge money maker for the city. Big mistake in my opinion!
Great facility. Friendly staff. Great investment on the part of the city.
Its old but many facilities a nice pool 50 yard length pool very good for laps. Also an impressive gun range. Weight expansive just not so much.
Took my son here to get his hunters safety license. The staff was excellent to work with. The gun range was a nice surprise allowing us to shoot indoors.
The price is better than most other local rec centers. Facilities are great.Tricky to walk into the pool as a mom with small kids because you have to go through either a mens or womens locker room, and 5 year old boys are a little old to go through womens, and a bit young to go through mens by themselves. The swim classes are impressive. Great instructors.
It’s priced great for the cardio, strength training, basketball courts, and pool. The downside is the facility caters more to mature and elderly citizens of Orem. Example: students have been asked to not use the inside track because they run too fast and close to other patrons. I was told “we can’t have the public feel uncomfortable like that.”Also the bond recently passed removes some racquetball courts and the shooting range. Two things that add huge value to a Rec Center membership.
Love this place. They have really laid back in nice staff. The gym is really good. They have all kinds of courts and whatnot ( I really only use the gym, Showers and pool, and track). They have a army of like bike things that people love to ride. Big but organized. I really like the pool, the hot tub, sauna. Its always clean and well kept. Great place and safe atmosphere. Im here every night.
This place is definitely old, but I love coming here. Its the only pool around here that has long course, and its usually not that crowded. (I come to swim, thats it) and they have a new pool for kids and its small but its nice.
My kids love the indoor pool here. It has a great mix of swim areas, play areas, a lazy river, and a waterslide that is more beefy than youd expect to find in an indoor pool.
I get a good price for this place because of my work. The lockers use a quarter to secure your stuff. There are plenty of cardio equipment and all the regular weight equipment and then some. They offer some stuff to rent to use there indoor facility. Indoor pool, indoor track, indoor volley ball, racket ball and basket ball courts. The also offer community events and classes.
I have never done anything here but register my kids for recreational programs. They love them. Sports camps and programs.
This place is older than dirt. Needs to be rebuilt for sure. Not very much equipment. The weight area is like an outdated home gym. Not big enough for the community. Waayyyy too many treadmills.? The pool area is pretty decent. The basketball courts are nice and the equipment you can rent for pickle ball, basketball, and other court games are nice. Kind of dirty, but overall good vibes.its also way sick that theres a gun range here. Its mediocre quality, but they do have almost everything, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.
We love the Rec center! I will be honest and admit that I didnt vote for the expansion, not because I dont think that Orem doesnt need a bigger and better rec center. But the reason I didnt vote for the expansion is because there was so much deception and shadiness surrounding the expansion that it never felt right. if you asked people at the rec center what was included in the expansion they would tell you that nobody knew for sure until after the vote went through and that just never felt right to me. if you ask anybody at the city if the gun range in the rec center was still going to be in the rec center after the expansion they would tell you that nobody knew until after the expansion passed and that was really really shady. There was a lot of dishonesty surrounding the vote and what people told you concerning the expansion of the rec center. It turns out that the gun range did not make the cut after the expansion, you will be told that its because its not busy enough but the truth is any night during the week that is a youth night you cant get in because they are overbooked. They are typically also booked solid Friday and Saturday night. It was disappointing for our family to learn that the gun range had not made it to the future of Orem City. We have spent many nights there is a family it was an amazingly empowering place for our daughter to grow up and it was a place where our sons learned responsibility.
We are residents of Provo and we visited the Orem Rec for the first time today. It was clean, and the staff was friendly. We went for the pool which my children (7 months to 12 years) enjoyed equally. There is aquatic fun for everyone, and even better, its not packed and hectic! We will definitely visit again.
It is not super ghetto. And they have some upgrades in the works. You have a range of activities from racquet ball, to swimming, weights and basketball. Most of the staff are nice.Looking forward to the remodeling.
So frustrating you cannot have your child under 9 swim or even put their feet in the water without an adult in the pool. Why are they paying for lifeguards then?! We’ve been doing swim lessons for 7 months now and will not be going back!
The Orem Fitness Center isnt great, but it is alright. I primarily use this facility for the swimming pool. Its not the best in Utah county (if you want that, go to the new-ish Provo Rec) but its miles ahead of any grimy VASA pool in the valley. The pool is well lit, 50 m long, and works well for my triathlon training. The hours are decent and I can usually swim in my own lane, or swim with other patrons who are generally as polite as I am. (Theres a certain crowd who are up and swimming before its light out.)That being said, Ive heard and seen that the other cardio equipment is in a bit of disarray. The facility (minus the pool area, which was recently renovated) will be getting renovations in the next few months due to some new bonding from the city. Im excited to see how that turns out.In the meantime, Ill just keep swimming....
We went to the shooting range inside the rec center. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful...made us feel welcome while explaining the rules and safety guidelines. Awesome experience. Thanks
I bring my daughter for swimming lessons and Ballet classes. She has loved both and has learned a lot! The ballet instructor Jennifer is the best, we love her!! Her classes fill up fast though so you need to sign up early.
Great staff. Lifeguards are amazing and swim instructors are very patient.
Super nice and cheap indoor heated pool with a slide and play area! Nice locker rooms and facilities all around!
I have been going here for several years. It meets all my exercise needs. I like their machines. They have a decent track. Their classes are solid. They also offer daycare. Plus, you dont get all the flashy people as you would at other gyms. That part is so nice!
Nice facility, but really looking forward to after the construction of the new facilities is completed!
The right facility mix, but dowdy.Rec center has racquet ball courts, INDOOR swimming pools plus normal aerobic exercise machines scattered around. Large basketball floor (6 or 8 hoops with curtains) even a giu range. Price is good. The Needed upgrade is coming June 2019 - w/ all but swimming closed for 1.5 yr.
It sure would be nice if events like swim meets were on a calendar on the Orem Fitness Center website. If you need help with that all I need is access to edit and Ill assist with how to setup an active calendar on the website. Also, the lockers still need to be fixed or better yet, replaced. For as much as the fees are such improvements should be possible.
We have enjoyed the rec center in the past but have been really disappointed to see the way they treat unknowing Mountain View basketball patrons. During the month of February our child played several Bantum basketball games at Mountain View which is right by the rec center. The parking lot next to the basketball gym is owned by the rec center and you will be towed if you park there, unless you are a rec center patron. Unfortunately, no one knows that because the parking area is adjacent to the Mountain View gym. The signs stating that only recreation patrons can park there are so small as you drive into the parking lot that they are unnoticeable, especially at night. They have an employee waiting like a piranha to boot you the moment you start to leave your car. Thank heaven for kind rec patrons who try to warn people as they get out and rush into the gymnasium. The signs stating that your car will be booted if you are not a rec patron should be bigger and posted in several places or flashing for night time viewing. Sad to see the city be a part of a trap for families just coming to support their kids. We werent booted but many people were the nights we were there. Signs warning spectators could also be posted on the gymnasium doors where they would be more noticeable. Poor community spirit for the rec center to have this policy..
Fun dressing rooms could be better. Not family friendly. The pool hours on the web site are not correct. Some of the swim coaches do little or no supervision .. so the teens tend to pick on younger kids and act out
This place is great! They have so much to offer, from zumba classes to a shooting range. The employees are kind and helpful. The environment is a unique place of calmness and low maintenance living.
I have been going to the Orem Fitness for over twenty-seven years. I love it! I especially love the Water Aerobics classes.
Great facility. Cardio machines. Rowers and airodine bikes available. Track downstairs. Gym with free weights split into two rooms. Great basketball courts. Racquetball courts. The lanes for lap swimming are normally pretty available. Bathrooms are always clean. The kids pool gets pretty crowded on the weekend. My wife and kids have been going here for almost a year now. Staff is super friendly. We’ve got zero complaints.
The place looks kind of old, and some machines are out of order. The pools are okay, they have pools for kids too, a lazy river, a jacuzzi, and slide. The cool things about this place are the classes they give in the rooms upstairs, the shooting range, and the saunas (vapor and dry).Prices went up recently to $4.50 for the average person.
I come here for the swimming mostly. I do train for triathlons in the winter because they have the indoor track along with bikes on the side right next to it so you can work on your transitions. The pool is great for lap swimming and the kids pool has a play area along with a decent slide. Also, it doesnt hurt that this is one of the cheapest rec centers around.
Affordable fitness membership for my entire family. Most importantly, they have excellent fitness instructors for their classes.
Great place to hang out with family and friends. The staff seem so happy and it looks like a fun place to work. The exercise equipment is in good shape and the pool is fun for kids and adults.
Ive been attending the Orem rec center since I was a 5 year old taking swim lessons. Now Im 30 (still in need of swim lessons) but still coming back. From treadmills and elliptical machines to a lap pool to weights to racquetball courts, even a shooting range, theyve got it all.
Ive been coming to the Orem Rec Center for years and years. The building and facilities have changed a bit, but the family friendly, open atmosphere hasnt. The prices are competitive (obviously its best if you can get a membership) and they have most of the important things I look for in a rec center.
Get a membership! But the individual visit price isnt bad, either. This was a fantastic place to swim with my kids. Ill go back for sure!
This is a review of the gun range. You pay $5 for a day pass and you can use their indoor gun range which is such a great deal. Its a nice range, not the most high tech but it serves the purpose. The guy that runs it is really nice and helpful, they let you do your own thing while youre shooting as long as you follow the safety rules. I would highly recommend
They have everything for the family to enjoy exercising
Been swimming here nightly for years. The fitness center is a great facility. Long pool (50m) and they make dedicated lanes for lap swimmers (usually 2 or 3) every night.
Poorly managed. Manager never at facility to discuss issues with. Run by apathetic high school and college kids. Cardio machines broken down for months on end. Parking lot always filled with Mountain View High School events, unwilling to take steps to enforce parking reserved for patrons. Facility is always filthy with dirt and dust. Just saving up for a home gym, will be happy to not have return.
We love to go swimming there all the time. The only thing I dont like is that they give so much space to the lap swimmers and so little space for others.
The pool and racquetball courts are nice, but their weight room needs a lot of work. They need to swap the Smith machine for a real squat rack or add it somewhere else because right now, you cant free squat.
I nearly always have a good experience here
Great place to workout, bring the family, Scouts, etc. Staff is friendly as well!
Great facilities, friendly staff, and decent prices. Edit the only thing I wish I could change is to have them be open Sundays.
Pool was pretty cold. The baby was shivering within 5 minutes. The locker room floors are also pretty slippery.
This place sucks ! It took me 7 months to be able to cancel my membership after I moved . I will never go here again
Love the Orem fitness center. Im really excited for the new improvements coming in the next few years.
Nice local resource
I cant wait until it gets rebuilt
Does not have as much of the New things provo rec has but it is quieter and my son liked it a bunch more. LOVED IT.
Everything is great, though the building is somewhat goofily set up.
Hot tub is okay, steam room is nice. There is no ice rink though and they are not putting one in with the newest expensive remodel, very disappointing.
Really disappointed that there daycare is closed when I actually have the time to come & the fact that members are not allowed to use the aerobics room inbetween classes, no waivers or exceptions. Regretting getting a pass!
We love Orem fitness center. Wish I were there when were selling fireworks for the season theyre always friendly and nice to us. Weve been showering there over 15 years
We like it so much, really good classes of Zumba and yoga, we like the pool too.
I love the pool, it has a great adult area and large kids play area as well. Life guards are spot on. Everything is very clean, and sanitized on a daily basis. The gun range is the other amenity Ive used, and its one of my favorites to use.
I love the giant lap pool, and there are always racquetball courts available.
The best thing about the Orem Rec is that its not busy.. I assume because its older and doesnt have as many amenities as other gyms. But they do have the necessities and if you like to have space to work, run or swim in peace i recommend the Orem Rec
Such a fantastic rec center. How many rec centers do you know of that also have a gun range?! There are also racquetball courts, basketball courts, an olympic size swimming pool, a kiddie pool, lots of classes, and plenty of various workout machines. Just about anything Id want to do fitness-wise, I can do here.
This is an alright fitness center. There isnt much room, so it can get crowded and a lot of times the treadmills are all taken. They do have a pool and hot tub as well as different fitness classes, which are nice. Theres space for racquetball and theres a sauna and changing rooms. The yearly membership is a bit pricey upfront. I wish they did month-to-month options.
Cons it’s old and smelly. But for that price you can’t beat it. You can always find a machine to work out on. The walking track is perfect for strollers on those days where the weather is to bad. Never a long wait for cardio machines. The swimming pool is decent every time I’ve gone they have a life guard on duty
Best spin classes ever!
Fabulous! Meets all my needs, swim, ellipticals, weights, and racket ball. Staff is courteous and helpful. Love all the youth classes.
I never feel intimidated here. Ive gone to MANY gyms where I feel like I have to compete and I never feel that here. Good mix of singles, couples, families, and senior citizens. Orem firefighters work out in the morning, if you want some eye candy. Occasionally, youve got some high school kids who mess around on the weights but mid morning, the weight room is empty! Love it here!
Lap pool is the best let of this facility. The leisure pool is good. The weight lifting area is extremely meager and old. The track is ok. The cardio selection is ok but youre on display for everyone who comes in and leaves and the TVs are way too far away. They do have a gun range but it is very busy in the winter. They teach lessons but are slightly pricey compared to other rec centers. The daycare is outrageously expensive and underwhelming.
Kids pool was nice and warm, fun times.
This place was built for ever ago and is a dumb and disgusting. They keep adding on to it which is just like putting lipstick on a pig it’s still a pig! The two times we’ve gone swimming here the water is been way too cold and my kids come out after less than an hour. The bathroom stink and smelled like urine. There’s only one family bathroom. Spend your money elsewhere Lehi and Provo rec centers are a million times better and a lot newer nicer.
6 month family pass gives us a very good deal for a place to o swimming.
Good facility, but dated. Olympic size pool is a great amenity to have so close to home.
Lots of classes and activities available, and all for a good price! I have a year membership for my family and its definitely worth with. Racket ball, heated year round pools, sauna, and workout equipment; amazing place for family nights.
Needs an upgrade but good overall.
I prefer the provo one. This place seems a bit rundown but overall fairly nice.
Love the steam room! So lovely!
This place is awesome. Something for everyone. Super friendly staff.
Great!!!!! Basketball, swimming, racketball weights, machines, ect real run
Love this fitness center. Lots of options and machines for everyone to use
This is an awesome place. I cant say enough good things about it. I only use the exercise equipment, not the pool but I love it every time I go there.
The rec center is decent overall.Few things if they could improve on it will be 5 stars.1. Not enough family friendly showers in the lockerroom. There is only 1 which is out by the entrance. If they could even add a few showers with hose, it would make all parents life easier washing the kids.2. Kids after school classes are very good priced and great but there isnt enough. You sign up one season and then try to sign up for next and its booked so fast its hard to stay consistent. Have more dance/gymnastics classes!
Best pool with all the options 50 yard area, 25 meter area, 13 foot diving tank, hot tub, and a leisure area with slide and lazy river. Our families favorite pool.
Ive been going to Orem rec center since it first opened in the 80s..still a nice affordable and clean place to go to..nice childrens pool n fun stuff..
For Swim Team this pool makes me go fast but the bottom is a little dirty. Salright though
I love the rec center. Tons of stuff to do and great environment
Really a complete recreation center. 10 racquetball courts, weight rooms free of grunting or yelling, spin, aerobics, Olympic size swimming pool, ellipticals, treadmills, recumbent stationary bikes, child care, and more. I feel that I could get any class or workout I could desire as a member here.
Great people. Play basketball everyday I can. Much love all around. Lots of respect.
Great place to swim an work out
