My wife and I saw Music Man, and the show itself was fine.We arrived pretty early so we could get a good spot on the grass. When we sat down there was no one within 20 feet of us. As it got closer to show time, obviously more people started showing up and sitting around us. A few minutes before the show started, we were asked to move because there were too many people in our area. At that point the grass area was pretty full, so not many spots to choose from. We moved up from where we were, which made for a pretty uncomfortable experience as the grade was steeper. We moved to the chairs during intermission to make it through the rest of the show.If you are going to enforce social distancing, that is fine, please do a better job at monitoring when people get there.
Beautiful old building. Child friendly entertainment at excellent prices. Highly recommended
I’ve seen a few shows herr and they are always well done! Thoroughly enjoy going to any production!
Our family attended the Tuesday night performance, and we LOVED it!!! The cast was wonderful, energetic, and engaging, and the singing and the dancing were really, really good!!! (And I was super grateful they didnt force us to wear masks!!! =) All in all, it was an excellent evening, thank you to all of you that made it possible!!!!!!
I dont know why youre reading reviews for an outdoor theater, but you should know Ive never actually been to an event here. I walked by yesterday and today Google was like hey, how was it? I thought itd be fun to leave a review, but Im too nice to give this anything but 5 stars. So heres me inflating the positive feedback.
First, Lonestar, the Country Band were just brilliant! Second, the arena was beautiful, outside, and had a comfortable setting! Last, I will be definitely going back for anything else coming up that looks good!!!
I love coming here. The vibe is excellent and the outdoor experience cant be beat. We most recently saw The Scarlet Pimpernel and they made a point of frequently reminding people to stay socially distant and respect the comfort levels of all patrons. All around good experience, as usual.
Ive seen many productions here and Ive loved all of them. Theres places to sit and out out a blanket and it makes for a great family friendly evening! The musicals are fantastic and the plays are very well done! Would highly reccomend for a family event and to support the local arts and theater!
We saw The Music Man most recently. Great venue. Family friendly. Chairs or picnic blankets. You may want to consider bug spray.
Love the outdoor venue of the SCERA Shell. Its a beautiful venue where you can enjoy a play or a concert on a blanket or in a chair. The prices are affordable and worth it.
What a great place to see a play. The actors and singers seemed as good as you will find anywhere. Great for a date night or family time.Hope you have chance to check this great venue out soon.
Awesome! The plays are always incredible, and about every week during the summer they play older movies on the big screen. Concessions are inexpensive and there are a lot of snacks to choose from, like churros, hot dogs, pizza, soft pretzels, and candy. Wonderful place to watch a movie or play under the stars.
Great performances. Sound excellent,Staff was very good, audience good as well.
Enjoyable venue... outdoors, trees shaded us from the sun until it set. Nice ambiance. Acting/singing was decent for community theater.
We had a great time! The show was so fun and loved the price. All around a great experience. Ill definitely be going again!
They have good community theater and concerts from bands that I have actually heard of. This is a good place to come and enjoy some family friendly entertainment.
Super fun outdoor venue. Love coming here to see concerts, comedy shows, etc
Great community theatre. Good prices and well taken care of. I take my kids to one...or more...of the summer plays every year.
I saw them perform the Scarlet Pimpernel. It was amazing! The show was great, and the chairs were adjusted for social distancing. Well done!
Always fun to see a live show outside. Now days with Covid not many options that feel as safe. Felt reasonable precautions being taken even for the elderly.
I wanted to tip my hat to SCERA Shell for their efforts to keep live theater---AND its fans---alive & safe in this pandemic. We have been to 2 plays this year and even though I am immunocompromised, I felt safe with their precautions. Everyone wore masks, snack bar and restroom lines were socially distanced, and groups were seated far away enough from each other as to not worry. Helpful guidance was announced over the speaker systems, but none of it felt too dystopian, if you know what I mean. And all the staff did great, which was even more of an accomplishment knowing that most are kids AND volunteers! Way to go, SCERA! #MaskUpUT
Fun! We took blankets & laid them on the hill to watch the movie, Jumanji, the next level! Great for the whole family. Scera is always a great family atmosphere with good, wholesome entertainment.
We saw the Music Man. Great production great venue! This is a fun summertime activity!
I went to see The Scarlett Pimpernel for a girls night. The production was well done, the staff/volunteers friendly and helpful, and the grounds well kept. It was a wonderful experience.
Wonderful show on Saturday Dancing under the stars. Loved it!
So fun! The snack food options are the best around, and you cant beat the venue.
Our first visit & great experience. Very safe during virus.
The Scarlet pimpernail was great it was done so well but we had tickets reserved for section B chair section but one of the female ushers told us we needed to move to the far south west side which was not the best our view was partially obstructed by the lighting pole. So I was not to happen to have paid for an unobstructed view of the stage and thats not what we got nor paid for. I could have been organized better. We were there 35 minutes early.
We love the Scera Shell! Its a fun community venue with quality and family friendly entertainment. Weve attended several of their musical productions and outdoor movies and look forward to going to more. We are very lucky to have Scera in our community!
They are being very careful to set chairs far from other households and they have the ushers making sure blanket guests are social distancing too. Good job Scera!
See my review for Scera Park ;) We love it here! Cheap concessions, phenomenal acting, and wonderful atmosphere.
The production was awesome the players voices were amazing. From where I was sitting it was very hard to see the stage the gentleman in front of me was tall and I had a hard time seeing what was going on.
Great affordable events. They use community actors, but Ive always been just as satisfied with their casts as I have with professional productions.
So much fun!! Love the plays and dancing under the stars
Community theater is super fun! Well done.
Been here since I was a kid. Fun date night
Great family venue. They holds concerts, musicals and plays here.
I went here to see a play serveral years ago, and while I dont remember what the name of the play was, I do remember that I had a great time.
Amazing park with 2 awesome playgrounds for kids and a 9 hole disc golf park. Lots of grassy areas to picnic/ run around in
Great place I had a wonderful time with my friend watching Jumanji the Next Level.
This theater has so much charm and memories. In a world where you pay so much money to sit in a sanitized, dark theater in a perfectly controlled environment, its refreshing to watch a live theater performance or live concert in the real world.Wanna snuggle up with your date? Its almost required to sit close under a blanket on some of these chilly summer nights. The ambience of these shows on cool summer nights is absolutely unique to this theater that cant be had anywhere else. The huge surrounding park is wonderful as well and makes me proud to be from Orem and a Scera theater performance alumni!
This is a difficult place to get around if you have any disabilty. My friend who invited me said, there was a bathroom now, down by the stage which could have been an error on her part so we had to end up parking in the school parking lot, walked around the entire east side & up the Southside so as to use the ramp. We asked about the bathroom. There was none. We walked the ramp all the way up the hill. The place for wheelchairs was very tiny any had mo more room, so we asked if we could sit on the sidewalk. If you wanted to go to the bathroom from there you & used a wheelchair you would have to leave and go around the entire circumference of the of the Scera shell to use the ramp to go to the bathroom which is at the bottom of the hill on the opposite side. If you use a cane, there is no side walk to the bathroom on the other side of the wheelchair area. You have to walk up a steep slope since there is no sidewalk or wheelchair ramp available, or rails to to hold on to if you can walk with a cane. I was so extremely disappointed as my friend was under the impression that it was wheel chair friendly an convenient. It is NOT!!!! It is a shame that the place to sit in a wheelchair was not nearer to the entrance or even half way up. I love the theater. My father did a lot of community theater etc in S.D. I think what is so frustrating is I could accept if forced to, that the outdoor theater is is just too incredibly difficult or inconvenient for the disabled but the indoor theater seating was so uncomfortable that my niece who is about a sz 6 and my mom a sz 8 said, they wouldnt never go again.. Most uncomfortable chairs EVER!!!! Narrow and VERY uncomfortable Two of us had new pain in the back of our legs where the chair slopes up HIGH under the back of you leg & puts pressure a lot pressure right on your sciatic nevre and the chairs tilt back so far we stuffed our jackets & purse behind are backs so we could try & sit up straight. My mom was so frustrated at how much her back hurt no one wants to return. Its really sad that neither theater worked for myself and 2 other family members who are in great physical shape. We love the theater but after both venues do have the comfort of we the patrons in mind. Its so very sad. When I moved back to Orem I was excited to see more plays and concerts again but unfortunately none will ever be at either Scera again. Breaks my heart.
Great play, good concessions, great all around night.
Not a single complaint. Fun shows, well thought out productions. Ive been impressed every time Ive been here! The concessions offer good stuff at decent prices, and the staff is very helpful. There is plenty of parking, although trying to get out after the show is kind of a nightmare... what do you expect, right? All in all a great place for all ages to enjoy theatre outdoors.
I love this place! We get free tix with our local pass of all passes, but I would pay to see any of the things they produce here. Very family friendly! Local talent gets to shine! Come early and bring lots of blankets or purchase chair rentals per your preference. There are tons of concessions choices and it wont break the bank like the movies will.
The actors were incredible! My mom and I came to see The Scarlet Pimpernel, and even with Covid and social distancing, we were able to escape into the world of theatre for a few hours.
Large open park, over all great place
My wife and I saw Beauty and the Beast at the outdoor theater and it was great! The acting was good, the concessions are not over priced, and the chairs are fairly comfortable. If I would have brought a blanket or a cushion of some sorts for my back just to make the chair more comfortable. Other then that its a great time to get out for a great price. My wife and I were in section B ($15 a ticket) and we could see the entire stage.
Amazing venue for an incredible artist, Josh Turner.
We saw Music Man and it was excellent.
Love their outdoor shows... they have good concessions too. They also show wonderful family friendly movies inside- and outside depending on the time of year.
I dont know about the theatre. But the park on the south side is a great park to play on for kids.
K, first of all, understand that the actors are great. Every time Ive gone to a performance, the acting is excellent for a community theater. Its the directors, administrators and play writes who dont know what theyre doing and it leads to the most underwhelming performances put on in Utah (yes, I do go to theaters up and down Utah). To give an example, the last time I went to their production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, I was able to turn to my companion and dance the entire routine because they had stolen the choreography from another theaters production of it that I had been part of.You need to understand that everyone in Utah County theatre circles knows that the only people who say anything good about this places shows are people from the city, Sceras rich investors, the theater or family members of people involved in productions. That makes pretty much all of these comments you read here bogus (yes, I know a lot of these people I read comments from, and they are so full of themselves). So keep that in mind when reading these reviews. This place lacks A LOT in their understanding of what makes a good show. I have gone to better performances at junior high. I have been to MANY performances at Scera. I started going because I was excited to see people I knew in them, then it eventually turned into me groaning every time someone in my family wanted to go or got into a show. I still go to this place, I go always wanting to like the productions they do, but they just dont get it. THE ONLY time their productions are of any quality is when a professional touring performer comes in, and even then Im surprised that Scera hasnt tried to take credit for the performers success. The only reason this place gets any notoriety is because of its rich investors, proud city officials and pompous administrators.Ive been to community theaters from Logan to St. George, and this is the one I know I can count on ALWAYS being lacking. Its straight up disappointing and lacking in every possible way except for the acting. Unfortunately, actors need the others involved in their productions to be as good, and they are not. This is a place that if a company ever bought them out, the only people who wouldnt be fired and replaced would be the volunteer actors who have to put up with lackluster admins.
Great venue....excellent entertainment in a very safe environment
We really enjoy this outdoor theater! The acting is stellar and the atmosphere is pure summer goodness
Solitude under the Star lit night sky
Ok disc golf course.
Wonderful venue! Very refreshing.
Very nice place. Well mowed grass.
Went to see Beauty and The Beast play. This was an excellent play! This is a very nice outdoor amphitheater. The theater is sloped, which helps with visibility. I can usually see unless Im behind someone tall. There are places to sit on blankets or chairs you can rent for $1.00 that the legs are cut so they work on the hill.
We saw Beauty and the Beast. It was amazing! The lead parts were great, and the ensemble was terrific. The sound system was also wonderful.
We came here to see a play. I was pleasantly surprised by the talent of the local cast. The only thing I didnt like was how much money concessions were, but its like that everywhere nowadays. But for the play and any other event here, I would highly recommend a visit.
Saw 3 summer series concerts this year. Great family fun. Creative date night idea
We love the scera shell! Its a fun outdoor theater that regularly has plays, and live concerts during the summer months. The entertainment is so fun! They take really good care of the grass and it has always been and enjoyable time whether we have set on a picnic blanket, or brought our own chair. As someone who has been on stage and in the audience, I can honestly the staff is wonderful and helpful.
We saw Shrek! It was SO good!!! A must see for sure! Clever, funny, heartwarming, and plain entertaining!
Concert was great, the staff was friendly and the concessions were reasonably priced! The hill is a little steep.. Felt like I was going to slide out of my chair and I know now not to sit up behind the light poles because I couldnt see the screen on the stage at all!!
The newsies so fun and we will definitely be back. But tickets for slightly more are a must for me now. The general tickets are to far away. Definitely bring blankets even if you have a chair.
Belle got through 3 numbers before getting rained out. She has a beautiful voice. A beautiful setting. We will try again with great anticipation.
The outdoor theater is a lot of fun.
Great place if you dont mind sitting on the ground
Cool outdoor theater, the slope of the hill is really good so you can easily see over peoples heads to view the stage. Easy to find and clean. There were some pesky bugs so bring some bug spray with you!
Fun outdoor theater. Seating is on a grassy sloped lawn. Bring blankets and some sort of back support to sit on the ground. Has a refreshment facility for snacks and drinks.
Family friendly venue with great entertainment options and acts. My only wish was that the hill were not quite so steep. Sometimes uncomfortable and challenging with sitting in the blanket section of the hill.
I love it. So much going on all the time.
Such a fun venue to see a concert, musical, or movie. Chair seating, blanket seating, or bring-your-own-chair seating make for a super family friendly vibe. The play we saw was very well done, too!
Fun, inexpensive, great for a date night.
Two thumbs up
A great theater. Its always fun to go see a show at the Scera Shell. The production value is always good and the prices are tough to beat. The only thing you should be aware of is that the seating is just a grassy hill. There are no chairs. But if youre fine with that then this is a great place to watch a fun show.
Such a fun summer tradition! Its the perfect venue to have your kids experience the theater.
Great place for summer fun. Right next to a water park facility, it has wonderful shows outside all summer long. We went here for some community theater, we watched Shrek the Musical, and it was FANTASTIC!
Amazing shows and because its an outdoor theatre, you can feel involved as the cast just adjusts the setup from production to production to best fit their needs. Last show I saw here was Newsies, and I plan on coming back soon!
Fun place to see a play. Great family activity. Affordable.
Great shows, decent views.
GOOD ENTERTAINMENT AND MELANIE THE MANAGER MAKES YOU FEEL WELCOMED ALL THE TIME!!!!
